ITunes Authorize Computer Problem

I recently upgraded to OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard and had a problem with my logic board. Apple replaced the logic board and now when I launch iTunes, I get a warning:
This computer is no longer authorized to play purchased items that are on the iPod "My iPod", Would you like to authorize this computer for items purchased form the iTunes store?
When I attempt to authorize, I get the following error:
You cannot authorize more than 5 computers.
I don't have the songs on 5 machines and I'm wondering if it's something that happened because of the upgrade and the logic board fix.
Any thoughts?

You could have used more than one account to purchase the songs.
Try right clicking a the song that won't play in iTunes. Then Get Info and look for the account name that was used. Then make sure iTunes is authorized for that account also.

  • Authorize computer problem

Having just bought an IPhone I have visited the App Store to purchase an app.
The problem is that when my Ipone syncs to the pc, I am told the computer is not authorized. I then go to 'store' and authorize computer, upon which I am told that the computer is already authorized. Then I get the same message to say the computer is not authorized and the whole thing goes round in circles.
I have the latest version of itunes and the latest iphone software. My computer is running under windows 7.
Can anyone help explain what is wrong and how I can solve the problem?
    Many thanks
    Martin

Excellent news as well, Martin. Glad the article helped for you, too.
I'm never quite sure if some of the cross-operating-system problems are more common on Windows than on Macs just because there's more people with iTunes for Windows than iTunes for Mac. But in terms of ra numbers, you're right ... this does seem to be more commonly reported on Windows.

  • Reinstalling itunes after computer problems

hi, i have lost everything on my computer recently including my music and have no back-up.  I reinstalled itunes and 3 songs however not all my songs were purchased on itunes.  Does this mean when i plug my ipod in i will lose everything?  I pluged it in and it started syncing however i cancelled it fearing it would only give me the 3 songs ive downloaded so far.  Is their any way i keep everything on my ipod. Many thanks in advance.

You could try a 3rd party program at your own risk ( not supported by Apple).
Where is your backup copy of all important info/music/pics/docs?

  • Connection to iTunes server computer problem...

My wi-fi network is running just fine but after the ATV is off and I go to use it again the next morning it will not connect to my server which is broadcasting the iTunes account.  I have to log onto my server and close and restart iTunes.  My server is set to never shut down and is set to awake from any sleep approx  30 minutes before I would usually use the ATV in the morning.  I am running OS Lion on all computers and OS Lion Server on a Mac Mini Server.  Once I restart iTunes every morning the connection and speed work great.  Has anyone experienced this problem or does anyone have a resoluiton or sugestion...help?
    My household is running...
    MacMini Server
    MacBookPro
    MacBook
    (2) Apple TV's 2nd generation
    (3) iPod Touches
    -Jake

    Jake,
I have been experiencing the same issue.  If either my MBP goes to sleep or my ATV goes to sleep, then when I subsequently try to play content, the ATV says "There are no TV shows in this library".  To get things moving again, I can either restart iTunes or power cycle the ATV.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be very much appreciated.
    Cheers.

  • I bought a song on ITUNES and had problems downloading it. I got in touch with support and and they downloaded the song to my account but now when I try to play it, it tells me my computer isn't authorized to . Reauthorizing computer doesn't work. HELP

I bought a song in ITUNES and had problem downloading it. I contacted support and they downloaded the song for me. Now when I try to play the song, I get a message saying my computer isn't authorized to play it. I try reauthorizing but that doesn't work, just keep getting the same message. Can anyone help?

  • Error message:  Cannot sync songs purchased in iTunes to iTouch because computer is not authorized.  I go in and authorize computer (only computer I have ever used for iTunes), seems to be successful.  Then I try to sync again and it gives same error mesg

It just goes in a circle.  This computer not authorized to sync purchased songs to iTouch.  Follow directions to authorize computer, seems successful.  Sync again and it comes up with the same error message....this computer not authorized to sync iTune purchases to iTouch.  I have deauthorized the computer and reauthorized and it didn't make a difference.  I updated and restored to factory settings.  Still same error message.  I have had this problem the last 2 times I have synced.  Worked previously.  Any ideas??

additional info:  I looked into similar complaints.  1 suggested that something is wrong with the files.  Delete them off of computer and divice (but they are not on my divice anymore) and then download them again from iTunes purchase history.  Went in to check iTunes purchases to make sure the songs would be there if I did follow these steps.  Well, NONE of them are in my purchase history.....probably the real problem here.  I had an original iPod Nano and then upgraded to my current iTouch.....same computer for both.  Could there have been a problem at the point of switching over to the iTouch?  That doesn't make sence to me because it is through iTunes and it was the same account for both.  I thought I'd be smart and put all the songs in a playlist and burn to a CD and them load them back in that way.....but I was not authorized to burn to a CD....go figure.  Any idease would be great!!

  • When "backing up" or "syncing" my iphone to iTunes, my computer is telling me it is unathorized, but when I go to authorize it, I get a pop up saying it already is

When I go to back up my phone, it tells me to transfer my purchases made from my iPhone to my iTunes, but then as it makes it to that step, I get a pop up saying that my computer is not authorized to make the transfer even though it is authorized. I have tried to deauthorize it and then authorize again, but it still will not allow me to make the transfer. If I manually check off all the songs in my library to put on my phone, it works that one time. Then the next time, it syncs without a problem. Any time after that, I have to switch back and forth between those two to put music on my phone or to back it up on my computer. I have never had a problem with this until I got the new iphone5.

    Hello susanserio
Try Deauthorize your account and then Authorize the account to see if any changes occur. Also there may a resolution in the second article that can be helpful as well.

  • Itunes says I need itunes 11.1 version or later on my iphone before it will recognise the iphone. How do I update itunes on my iphone or is it a computer problem?

I have been trying to sync/back up my iphone and ipad but iTunes is saying I need to update my iphone to version 11.1 or later. I thought my phone was up to date and I can't seem to update iTunes on my phone anyway. Does anyone know how to update iTunes on my phone or is it a computer problem? I've been having problems with iTunes on my PC so I re-installed it but it's been a nightmare trying to get it to work.
This is the message I receive says " The iphone 'iPhone' cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com.au to download the latest version of iTunes". I get a similar one for my iPad too.
When I go to the website I can only find the download for my PC but not the iPhone.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you!

No, your iPhone i s telling you that you need iTunes 11.1 or greater on your computer in order to sync with the computer.

Then you should fix this issue with iTunes before you try to sync your iPhone to it.

  • HT1420 Possibility to use 1 Computer - configured with 2 user accounts - each account uses a different Apple-ID for iTunes authorization ?

I wonder if it is possible to use 1 Computer (Macbook Pro)
    - configured with 2 (ore even more) user accounts (i.e. me + my kid)
    - and each user account has a different Apple-ID (account) for iTunes purchases & iTunes authorization ?
I woud think that is fine in terms of the underlying license agreement refereing to re-download purchased movies, shows, apps, etc.
However, it seams that there is that miraculous 90 days restriction, which I don't understand, and which allows me only to "authorise" the Computer under one or the other account. The switch is unfortunatelly only possible every 90 days ?!?
    Thanks anybody for help
    Oliver

The 90 day association doesn't stop you authorising an account, it only stops you from using another account for iTunes Match or automatic downloads or redownloading its past purchases : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
There are a few methods listed on this page for how you could do it e.g. multiple user acounts, same iTunes but you having separate playlists, separate iTunes libraries : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495

  • Authorize Computer with the latest version of iTunes installed?

I searched all the previous threads with detailed information on how to authorize your computer, and it goes like this:
    1) Go to your library
    2) On the menu bar, choose 'Store' and then from the drop down menu choose "Authorize Computer"
I just downloaded the newest version today (2/23/2013) and my Menu bar is now totally different than the previous version on my other laptop.
On one end it says MUSIC in the middle it says Songs, Albums, Artists, Genres, Playlists, Radio, and Match. And on the other end it says iTunes Store.
The old menu bar has vanished, the new menu has no place in the iTunes library to choose "Authorize Computer",. is there anyone who has the LATEST version of iTunes that knows where to go to authorize my computer?
I actually authorized it by using "Home Sharing" feature, and I'm not sure how I found this but when it asked if I wanted to authorize the computer, I chose it, but that was not found in the instructions anywhere, so does anyone know what the deal is? Do they need new instructions for this latest version, or am I just an idiot?

If you're using Mac OS X, move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen.
If you're using Windows, press the Alt and S keys.

  • I tried to authorize a new computer with windows 8. Per iTunes Help, there should be an "authorize computer" section on the iTunes store menu. I only have two computers authorized so I know another one is possible. Suggestions?

I tried to authorize a new computer with Windows 8 for my iTunes acct.  Per iTunes Help, there is an "authorize computer" prompt in the menu selection on iTunes store website. I can find no such listing.  I have two computers linked to my account so I know that adding another one would be ok.  Any suggestions?

Press the Alt and S keys and choose Authorize this Computer.
