Itunes erased most library music and now won't recognize ipod

My itunes library just kind of erased all of my songs except a couple. Now when I try to connect my ipod up to it, it tells me that I have to erase everything on my ipod except those couple of songs to be connected to the library. Now I can't download new songs or anything to my ipod without itunes. Please, PLEASE help, i'm desperate!

If I try transfering my purchases from the ipod to the library, would it erase my ipod stuff?

  • Downloaded iTunes 9 and now won't recognize ipod

I have an ipod classic(80gig)that's about 2 years old.
I just had to buy a new computer last week, and after installing the latest version of itunes, it doesn't recognize my device.
It will charge the ipod though.
I just got back from the Apple store and they checked the ipod out and said there was nothing wrong with it, and it also shows up, or is recognized, on their master system.
    Can someone please help me?

Okay. We'd probably better check on the USB drivers. NB ... in the following document, where it says:
Type C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers in the "Search for driver software in this location" field.
Note: If using a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7, type C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers in the "Search for driver software in this location" field
... the "Note" is wrong for an iTunes 9.0.2.25. AMDS is 64-bit nowadays, so it lives in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers location for you.
    Here's the document:

  • HT201263 After updating to ios 8 through itunes, I lost my music and now I cant transfer some music from itunes (macbook pro) to my iphone 4s back

After updating to ios 8 through itunes, I lost my music and now I cant transfer some music from itunes (macbook pro) to my iphone 4s back. Any idea how can I do that?

After posting this, I've since found out that my iOS iTunes App on my iPhone 6 Plus works all OK when on WiFi, it just won't work when on the data/3/4G connection.
Anybody else having this same issue since updating to iOS 8.3?

  • ITunes updated to 7.6 and now won't run....

it said that the older version of iTunes could not be removed and now won't let me open the one that's on my computer.
it says that "This action is only valid for products that are currently installed.".
i tried reinstalling it from the site and it says the same thing, it couldn't remove the older version.

I did a system restore under the accessiblity option under accesories in the start menu.
It took a very long time but it at least let me get my itunes back with no errors.
I'm not sure what the problem was but now it's working so i'm not complaining.
I'm not updating to 7.6 until I absolutelly have to. Hopefully, they will work out all the kinks before I have to update to it.

  • IPod wouldn't play music and now won't turn off

I donwnloaded some new music yesterday and uploaded it onto my ipod, but when I went to play it last night and again this morning none of it would work. I could scroll through the music and press play/pause, but the tracks remained on 0.00.
I've just tried to turn it off and now it also won't do that. It's now completely frozen... The light is also constanly on. It's not responding to anything.

Solved, I started to put it into disk mode but only got so far as the apple logo (I'd plugged it into my computer but it wasn't registering. When the apple logo came up it registered). I then disconnected it from the computer and I had sound again
    Just shows, fiddling works

  • "Do not disconnect" message and computer won't recognize iPod

    Hi,
This morning I made the simple error of unplugging my iPod without safely ejecting it first--a moment's inattention and now I'm stuck.
I plugged it back in and tried to safely remove it as usual. The "remove this peripheral" window appeared but froze, with the hourglass hanging there.
I looked in the iPod User's Guide and it suggested rebooting the machine, so I did. The situation didn't change: the iPod said "Do not disconnect," it was not showing in the Windows Explorer or in iTunes, and the "safely remove" procedure froze.
I looked up online iPod help, following the link in iTunes, and tried "resetting"--didn't work. The "do not disconnect" message didn't budge.
I tried again with different USB ports--no luck.
I restarted my computer again. The iPod appeared in the Windows Explorer but not in iTunes. I tried to eject it safely through the system tray icon and was told "Windows does not recognize this peripheral. Try again. If Windows still does not recognize the peripheral, replace it." I tried to eject it via Windows Explorer and got another error message basically saying "I can't do anything with this drive."
The other two steps in the "five Rs" are "Reinstall iPod and iTune software" and "Restore your iPod." Both of these are impossible if the computer can't communicate with the iPod.
So my computer can't communicate with my iPod, and my iPod thinks it's still connected to the computer, so I can't use it. All because I made one thoughtless error and unplugged the iPod incorrectly. The iPod wasn't even in the process of updating or anything, it was just sitting there. Surely I'm not the only person this has happened to?? What on earth can I do?
Meanwhile it's really inconvenient since I'm leaving on vacation in a couple of hours and I had been planning on using the iPod-digital camera connector to store my photos on the iPod while traveling in Burma where I will have no access to computers.

Try resetting the iPod by holding the menu and center buttons for 6 to 10 seconds.
If that doesn't work, put it in disk mode http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93651 and then connect it to the PC and restore it with the latest ipod updater (Version 06-28-2006) You can download the latest here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/

  • ITunes on Window 7 (unfortunately) and it won't recognize iPhone 4S or an iPod.

The computer recognizes the device, and I get an autoplay prompt when connecting either, asking if I want to import the pictures, or open the device to view the files (the latter doesn't help with what I want) and neither device shows up in iTunes itself. I have completely tried un-installing and re-installing iTunes multiple times. De-authorized and re-authorized accounts and devices. Adjusted the control settings in Control Panel. Completely stumped every technician I know. For the love of God someone please help me, all I want is to put music on my iPhone. Running on iTunes version 11.0.5.5

it plays with headphones. it plays in a bose dock, but no computers.
i went thru the '5 steps', resored, reset, everything.

  • I just updated my iTunes to 11.1.3 and now it won't sync music to my iPhone 4... Help please!!

I just updated my iTunes to 11.1.3 and now it won't sync music to my iPhone 4... Help please!!
I have switch the setting on my iPhone to manually manage music and back and it still won't sync the new music

    cutwright 93,
I have a 4s, and I've had that problem, too. I've tried every method mentioned on the boards. If Ellips's suggestion didn't work, try this, and please let me know if it worked:
(I did the following while the phone was connected to my pc...if that makes a difference.)
    1. On the phone, go to Music.
    2. Click "More."
    3. Click "Shared."
    4. My phone lists "iPhone" and my iTunes Libary. Try clicking the name of your music library.
    5. Wait until the circle makes its loop.
The synch still failed to complete, but all of my music was on my iPhone, again. Whew.

  • Itunes erased all music and now wont sync

I was syncing a song to my iPhone like I always did, and then when I checked my iPhone, the song was all distorted with no vocals. When I played it on iTunes, the song was fine. So then I tried to sync it again, and the song wouldn't show up on the device. So then I tried syncing again and iTunes erased ALL my music. Everything's gone yet it says it's there. I checked on the memory space and it shows the same amount of GB left it had when I had all the songs in. But they won't show up on the Music app. Now every time I try to sync, it starts transferring purchases which took 30 minutes for 40 apps and now only says that it's transferring 18 apps.
Wth is happening with iTunes and my device? How can I fix this? It's really annoying

Mine did the same thing!!! I lost all of my music and my playlists and nothing shows up on my phone. It's getting really annoying and I wish someone would explain what the heck is going on.

  • I upgraded my Itunes to the latest version and now it won't let me view my library with the column browser. Can i get that back?

i upgraded my Itunes to the latest version and now it won't let me view my library with the column browser. Can i get that back? I tried using the shortcut for it and nothing happens. When I try to do it from the view menu, it shows up as something I can't click on. The new library format is driving me crazy and I just want to get back to the old library view.

We need to sort out some facts here first:
    •  You cannot be running Mt. Lion on your iMac G5.  What Mac is it?  What is the Model Identifier listed in About This Mac; More Info; Hardware Overview
    •  What is the model of your Epson Scanner?
    •  Have you attempted to scan using Image Capture, located in your Applications folder?
    •  Your Palm Pilot software will only run in Snow Leopard; so depending upon which Mac you have, you will either have to:
    1)  partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it to "dual-boot" when you want to access you Palm software, or
    2)  install Snow Leopard Server (now available from Apple for $20 telephone orders USA & Canda only) into Parallels 8 to run your Palm software in Mt. Lion:

  • I upgraded to the latest iTunes 10.2.2.12 and now it won't play any music. I can do everything else, except play music. I'm on Windows 7. Any ideas?

I upgraded to the latest iTunes 10.2.2.12 and now it won't play any music. I can do everything else, except play music. I'm on Windows 7. Any ideas?

i had this problem and finally figured it out. all that you need to do is go to your start menu and click on computer. select your main drive, (local drive) c usually. Next open the users file follow by your user name file, which is just like it sound it is a file labled as whatever your name is as you have it on your computer. Then you open up the AppData file. Next open the Roaming file. After that open the Apple Computer file followed by the iTunes file. Now you should see the folder labled iTunes Plug-ins folder. Now just Delete that folder. After that go to your iTunes and play your music.
If for some reason you don't see the AppData file you need to go to the upper left of your screen on select organize. a drop down menu will appear and you need to select folder and searc options. a small folder options window will appear. in this window you need to select the view tab. you need to select the show hidden files, folders, and drives bubble. now hit apply and then ok. that will allow the AppData folder to be seen.
