Itunes movie duplicate removal

I moved files around and added to library.  Now I have several duplicate fils.  How do I remove them?
Show Duplicates only shows.  Remove each one by delete - takes too long.

That's very odd.
Personally I'd look at it in another user account to see if it does the same there, then you can tell if something in your account is the issue (& start removing prefs files).
Tools like mediainfo will tell you what tracks are in the file, but that doesn't help you delete the specific tracks, because of the iTunes DRM.
MediaInfo (free if you use the old & ugly non-app store version).
I think you may need to delete the file & redownload it to be sure it's not an old error in the file & then contact Apple, since it's their media. https://www.apple.com/support/itunes/
Also try VLC, it may disable the tracks because it doesn't use the same AVFoundation as Quicktime X & iTunes.

  • ITunes movies duplicates artwork on films

    Hi all,
    This is driving me insane!
I have backed up my DVD's into iTunes using handbrake. The films themselves are all fine. My problem is the artwork. Each film has its own indidvidual artwork file which I can see when I "get info" on a specific film. My problem started when I tried to sort my films into collections. My example being that I have about 5 different Thomas the Tank Engine films (for my son). They now all show the artwork for 1 of the films as oppsed to their individual film artwork. I have tried deleting info out of the individual files but nothing happens? In fact some info like the sort name keeps coming back even if I have deleted it. I have a lot of seperate films that this has happen to like my styar wars collection and lord of the rings collection etc. Is there a simple fix for this so I can see the correct artwork for each film? Its really annoying when I use my Apple TV to play films.
    Any help gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Chris

most of these items were downloaded from eihter iTunes or in the case of movies, imported into the app and then loading them to TV Series or Movies as appropriate. They were all fine until about two days ago when I did a sync. Then the artwork went haywire. I tried manualy removing and replacing the artwork in iTunes with the correct jpg's. and then re-sync. iTunes shows everything OK, but the iPad is the one with it all messed up.

  • Removing iTunes Movies to gain more space

I just removed my iTunes movies because the HD was showing 479GB used of 500GB to gain more HD space.  After turning off my MacBook Pro and restarting, the storage amount shows the same as before.  Is there a way to reset the storge reading?

Thank you for your help.  Found hidden folder where duplicates of the movies were being stored.  Will delete and fix problem.

You can't do that. iCloud does function that way.

  • How to remove remnants of a failed iTunes movie download?

Hi, please let me summarize my recent experience with an iTunes movie rental. At this point, I mainly want to know how to regain the space on my iPad. The whole disgrace of why the download was slow, why iTunes on my mac did not know about the rental initiated on my iPad (so I had to buy it again), or the fact that after the failed download iOS seems to have left a huge blob on my iPad "forever" stands here to flag this issue for fellow users and Apple.
Let's start with the issue that would help me solve the situation as things stand now: Now I have the movie downloaded to my mac's iTunes, finally, but now I cannot sync it to the iPad, as the latter has no free space --- as the failed download of the movie there left there a large "file", which I cannot remove. The file is not seen by the iPad's iTunes Store or Movies apps (there I deleted what I could), I closed both apps specifically, I restarted and synced the iPad multiple times, but the free space is not recovered.
The background is that our Friday movie night ended up being a 4-hour ordeal attempting to have a fraction of the movie downloaded to start watching, and even worse, the download did not finish (or even continue!) while we started watching, but failed, and failed miserably, losing me even more time now. I started renting the movie one more time, then on my mac, hoping that the download will be faster there, but it wasn't, and now that I have the movie, I still cannot play it on my $500 "resolutionary display"...
Not even to mention that iTunes on my mac did not know about my rental on the iPad. So instead of the promised "seamless" continuiation of the movie on the MacBook (which I hoped will have a[n even] better connection to the iTunes Store, partly because of its better antenna --- it did not), I had to pay up again, restart the download, and still see it only trickling down.
The whole problem started with the download speed being unacceptable. I checked my downstream bandwidth, which was 16 MB/s. Then offering me to download the movie in 5 hours or so is more than disappointing.
Funnily enough, in the end now my mac's iTunes realized that there were a purchase on my iPad, and restarted the "original" download. So now I have two 4.5 GB copies of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy on my mac! What a waste of space and bandwidth. But of course, iTunes keep track of me having started "watching" one of them, so that will soon expire. Pfff.
What a disgrace this is. Google Play, Amazon Instant, Netflix must be gleaming. I only tried iTunes for the 1080p experience on my expensive new iPad.

And there was more. I had to re-rent the movie on Google Play and finish it there, because the iPad won't play its downloaded fragment, nor did my mac's iTunes, which already downloaded two copies of "Happy" and three copies of the twice-rented Tinker, Tailor..., would show ANY of that under Rentals nor allow copying ANY to the iPad during syncing (though the movies at least showed up there, see the note three steps above this).
And iTunes would still start downloading another copy of both movies whenever it checks for "unfinished downloads". I think my HDD will be fully of copies of the same movies soon.
And the iPad still have a huge chunk of "Tinker, Tailor..." lingering on somewhere in the non-transparent file system...
At least the iTunes support guys ("Express" Lane after 24 hours, though over a weekend) were nice in their email, and I got my money back. Now I only need my time, sanity and storage space back.

  • Ive deleted movies from itunes which has removed them from apple tv, i still have them on my ipad, is there any way i can get them back into itunes?

If the movies were rentals then no.
If the movies are purchases and you have the iTunes 10.4 then you should be able to access the 'cloud' option from in the main iTunes page  - purchases - (upper right corner) and go from there.
You should also have the option to transfer purchases from the iPad back into iTunes. I don't have an iPad but you can transfer purchases from the iPod/iPhone back to iTunes.

  • Play iTunes Movie on BlackBerry Torch 9810

There is definitely no shortage of M4V to MP4 converter on the Internet. One of the best M4V to MP4 converter is called Tune4mac iTunes M4V Converter Plus, which is able to remove DRM control from iTunes M4V movie rentals and purchases and convert M4V to MP4 format supported by BlackBerry Torch 9810. It not only support BlackBerry but also support most pupular devices and formats. This M4V to MP4 converter runs on Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard and 10.7 Lion.

Ita really a good converter. It can also convert iTunes movies to other devices, like Apple iPhone, iPod, iPad, Apple TV, PSP, Zune, Xoom, Galaxy Tab, iRiver, etc.

  • Move/Duplicate/Copy

    All,
Ok, so essentially I'm trying to write a script so that I can batch process a whole bunch of .SVG files.
The .SVG files come from a variety of sources... some open very cleanly with nice layer structure, etc... others open with completely wacked clipping masks grouped dozens of times, etc.... So, I need to try and "normalize" the .SVG with a batch process.
Basically the "normalizing" process I'm trying to use involves:
    1. "Flattening" the layer structure by ungrouping any nested layers.
1b. Moving all art objects into a single GroupItem.
    2. Move/Duplicate/Copy the GroupItem to a new Document with a predefined Artboard size.
    3. Re-sizing and positioning the GroupItem on the new Artboard based on some criteria.
Anyway, I'm kind of mystified as to the best way to accomplish this, so I'm trying all kinds of things...
I thought the simplest way to get all the artwork to the new Document would be to use the move() or duplicate() methods.
However, I keep getting 'MRAP' errors for this line:
    item.move(newDoc.activeLayer, ElementPlacement.INSIDE);
In the CS5 JavaScript Reference, the object parameter is referred to as a "relativeObject".
Does this mean that you can only move() or duplicate() an item within the SAME document?
Is the app.copy() and app.paste() methods the only way to move art from one Document to another?
    Thanks!

Well, I think I found the cause of the 'MRAP' errors... I had my looping logic screwed up, so I essentially was trying to either:
    1. Move something that didn't exist.
    2. Move something that does exist into something that doesn't exist.
    3. Move something that does exist into itself.
Also, fixing that allowed me to use the move() method to move art items (or a GroupItem) from one document to another.
I didn't test it, but I imagine duplicate() would work as well. Both these seem to me to be more desireable than the app.copy() method.
Also, a few notes to anyone trying to do something similar for prosterity sake:
    - Moving artwork within a document will reset the PageItem indexes, e.g. doc.pageItems[index]
    - If you remove all the artwork from a GroupItem, the GroupItem will remain in doc.pageItems unless you call app.redraw()
    - If you're trying to "flatten" some random amount of artwork, CompoundPathItems (as well as GroupItems) and their respective PathItems actually take up separate indexes of the doc.pageItems array. For example:
    doc.pageItems[5] // myCompoundPathItem
    doc.pageItems[6] // PathItem contained in myCompoundPathItem // Also: doc.pageItems[5].pathItems[0]
doc.pageItems[7] // another PathItem contained in myCompoundPathItem // Also: doc.pageItems[5].pathItems[1]
doc.pageItems[8] // a PathItem NOT contained in myCompoundPathItem
So, generally you want to avoid moving a PathItem that has a CompoundPathItem as a parent, because it will destroy the shape and screw with your indexes to no end.

Please understand I am a frustrated customer like you,  , but the availability of movies that have been shown before is dependant on licencing from the rights owners. Sky quite rightly have to pay the film studios for the ability to show to Sky's customers. As I understand it they purchase the right for a period of time, hence when the right expires then it has to be removed. The costing of the movies does reflect on the anticipated popularity of the programme, hence an older less popular movie might seem expensive but if not many people watch and pay that would be right. The apparent silliness of having movies in the store and on demand, allows those people who do not have a movie subscription to rent the movie on a one off basis. I agree that Sky seem to be licencing some programmes for shorter periods and it really upsets me when movies appear in buy and keep but not available to rent only. I recently queried Sky about Fortitude being available in OnDemand until 2022!, then of course found out that Sky owns the rights of the series. I can only say be careful if you are a movies subscriber and wish to watch a movie, not to select the Sky Store version if it is available in the Movies on Demand section. I recently wanted to watch a film that I found in Sky store at a cost, and just to be sure I searched for it and found it was to be shown on Channel 4 in a few days. I don't think we'll ever understand how such decision are made as to how long they licence movies for and how the charging model works with the film studios. Logically you would think that a smallish fee to have available indefinately and to pay the studio fee based on the number of rentals would be better, but that might be difficult to administer and Sky would have to have extra server storage fees, which they outsource. Hope that help you understand

  • Itunes movie storage issues

All my movies are stored on an external HD.  When I import them into itunes it duplicates the file on my mac HD under the itunes folder.
How do I keep it from doing this so it doesnt eat up space on my mac HD?

    Hi johnsocj60,
It sounds as if you have your iTunes preferences set to copy your files into the iTunes Media folder when adding them to your library. You can change this preference by going to the iTunes menu > Preferences > Advanced > Uncheck the Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library. See this article -

  • ITunes content sync-removal issues

Is there any way to resolve the following issue regarding my iPod touch and iTunes?
(iPod touch is 5th generation, running iOS 7.1.2)
    (iTunes is 11.3.1)
I've unchecked music and photos (from iPhoto) in iTunes, and told iTunes to remove the content from my iPod touch. Additionally, my iPod touch still has events from iPhoto that I've long since deleted (including the photos in said events). iTunes hasn't removed those events, nor any event after unchecking photos in iTunes, and the music still remains on the device. Before the last sync session, my iPod touch was showing duplicates of just about every song synced to it.
I've had these problems twice. Is there a way to fix this without restoring the iPod touch?

    Hi ipodfreak110,
It is possible that resetting the iPod touch may resolve your issues. See this article -

  • How to install apps purchased from itunes 11 without removing old apps installed from ipod touch?

I recently purchased apps from the app store using my computer (through itunes) and I cannot sync those apps to my ipod touch. Whenever I try to sync those apps I got from itunes, it automatically removes the apps I downloaded directly on my ipod touch. How can I install the apps I got from itunes without removing the apps I downloaded directly on my ipod touch? I hope my question is clear and I hope someone can help me Thanks in advance!

I already use the "Transfer Purchases" function in itunes and sync. And then what happened was when I try to click on "install" on an app I got from the computer, I can see the summary bar of my ipod's memory move. For example, my ipod has 3.23 gb remaining memory and then I try to click on "install" on 1 app then suddenly it moves to 5.21 gb remaining memory.

  • ITune Library duplicates

I have noticed many "postings" about duplicates being created in the iTune library with many suggestions about how to remove them (without any good permanent solutions). What I don't understand why does iTunes allow duplicates in the first place?
My second question is "why are the duplicates being created?". Is there a setting that can be selected to keep this from happening in the future?

Do the duplicates have a little cloud next to them?
    Open iTunes
    Preferences
    Store
Uncheck Show iTunes in the Cloud Purchases.

  • Is it safe to just store my purchased iTunes movies in the iTunes cloud rather than filling up my Macbook Pros hard drive?

Is it safe to just store my purchased Itunes movies in the Itunes cloud rather than filling up the Macbook Pro's hard drive with HD content?

Not safe, no. The movie's owner can remove a movie at any time, which does happen from time to time, making it impossible to re-download later. You should always keep a backup copy of any app or content that you care about.
    Regards.
