Itunes no longer working.  Trying to download update, but will not let me -

I bought an Itouch for my 17yr old daughter for Christmas. She loved it when she was at my house, but then took it home and the trouble began. Itunes on her computer is not opening, everything else seems to be working fine. She tried to download the latest version of Itunes but it would not let her. A window came up and stated she needed to remove her old Itunes first. She tried that but when she tried to remove the program it would not let her...... short of getting a new computer, any help?

Sounds like windows is having issues on her PC... Buying a new computer might be an extreme resolve...
First question though, does the PC support the minimum requirements for the iPod? If so I'd think about maybe doing asystem restore... If have the restore discs from the original PC purchase? OR does the vendor (like HP or such) on that client allow you to make them? As this might be a quick 3 hour resolve if you do a system restore back to factory defaults and get a clean copy of windows on her device.
DO NOTE: that you will loose other things, so you should back up your data before completing this task.
Otherwise if it doesn't meet the needs or you don't want to do a restore, then you can always do a service for support (like a local computer place to see thier thoughts) or do the extreme and acquire a new device... As its your choice and your money...
