ITunes+Quicktime install crashes - no error

Ok, I'm not the only one having this problem, but I've tried the solutions provided and none of them have accomplished anything.
Basically I run the iTunes/QT installer, it appears to run through just fine. At the end it uninstalls/deletes iTunes.
System:
WindowsXP Home
SP2
768 MB RAM, 41.6GB Free HDD space
I'm not running any anti-virus services (I scan my computer on occasion, but I am behind a firewall so viruses don't really concern me). I have run CCleaner, Ad-Aware and SpyBot S&D to remove any registry/spyware problems (there were very few).
Other things (suggested from the websites) that I have done:
-Made sure the iTunes Helper service was running through msconfig
-Deleted my temp folder
-Deleted old QuickTime & iTunes folders from c:\Program Files
-Run the MSI cleanup utility
I can't see why this is occuring. v4 was running fine, I decided to upgrade to 6 to find out what I was missing. Now I'm missing iTunes entirely. Nice job so far guys.

hi Zuhaib!
0x80040707
what text are you getting with your one? there's a bunch of different flavors of this error. you've been working through procedures for the most common variety (in recent times), but there's a couple of others we'd better check on. the text you get with your 0x80040707 may give us a heads-up on what we should try checking on first.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

My iTunes update install failed. Error message says MSVCR80.dll is missing from my comuputer. What is that and where do I get it?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • ITunes/Quicktime 7.3 upgrade error - can't uninstall previous version..?

While trying to install the new version of iTunes and Quicktime, I get an error while installing:
I checked the folder, and the iTunes.msi file is definitely there.
When I quit the installer, it said to try the Tools > Download Only option in the apple update software. I did it, and opened the iTunes.msi file, and got the same error.
I also tried uninstalling iTunes from Add/Remove Programs, but the same box in the picture above pops up.
    Any suggestions?

With those ones try the following procedure:
first, head into your Add/Remove programs and uninstall your QuickTime. if it goes, good. if it doesn't, we'll just attend to it when we attend to itunes.
next, download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. use it to clear any existing itunes and/or QuickTime installation configuration information from the PC.

It sounds like you may need to uninstall your version of iTunes and then reinstall the newest version:

There are certain components of iTunes that need to be uninstalled in order, so make sure you follow the uninstall steps in the above article. You can then visit the following link to get the latest version of iTunes and install it:

    I don't use Norton.

My Windows Spyware questions me about boujour and I tell it to not block it.
My isp is Mozilla Firefox and my virus protection is AVG FREE.
    I have Windows Firewall installed.
I would appreciate any help as I would like to upgrade as the new features seem attractive. I would like to see an improvement in the search capabilities.
    Regards, John

I did all the tasks in artnum=93976.
There were three files that I couldn't empty in the temp directory.
I uninstalled all prior versions of itunes and quicktime.
I had uninstalled itunes but there was one of quicktime that I got rid of.
    Deleted shortcuts.
Ran Windows Istall Cleanup and itunes and quiktime didn't exist, as I expected because of the prior steps.
I attemmpted to reload and it hung again at the 70% load point.
Is there a list of the anti-virus programs that cause itunes to bomb? I use AVG FREE for the internet and I really don't know how to temporarily disable it. Should I also disable the Windows Firewall and the spyware softeware. I feel very, very uncomfortable disabling software.
Personally, I don't ever recall having such problems installing software.
From the number of emails on this site this situation appears to be a debacle.

  • Vista itunes not installed correctly.  Error 7.  Windows error 998.  Itunes helper not installed correctly.  Service Apple Mobile Device failed to start.  Insufficient privileges.

OK, spent about 25 frustrating hours so far this weekend doing everything recommended on numerous threads here -- uninstalling and reinstalling itunes and all Apple items.  Help?
I am using Windows Vista home premium.  After the last iTunes update to 12, it suddenly would not work.  I followed, to a T, all instructions to uninstall all Apples software, in the correct order, reboot, download the latest iTunes, run as administrator, plug in the iPhone 5S, let the driver install, and then finish.
Along the way, I received the error that "Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."  I am the administrator and have privileges.  (I previously followed instructions from anther thread to change the read-only privileges for Apple folders, but to no avail.  I also deleted every file with the word Apple in it after I uninstalled everything.)  I did a retry and then an ignore during installation of the AMD error, which I have received 10 times.
The other error I keep getting is:  "iTunesHelper was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7."  I have done that 20 times.
Other frequent error:  "iTunes was not installed correctly.  Please reinstall iTunes.  Error 7 (Windows error 998)."
I followed other threads suggestions to install Windows .NET versions 3.5 and 4.0.  No help.  I also looked for various specific Apple files in various folders for DLLs, etc.  Not present.  I have rebooted 50 times and tried different users on my home account as well.  Nothing.
I also followed instructions to Manage my computer under "services."  Under Apple Mobile Device, the setting is for "automatic."  When I try to get it to "start," the error I receive is "Windows could not start the Apple Mobile Device on Local Computer.  Error 1053:  The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion."  (I followed previous thread instructions to use the CMD prompt to stop it.  That caused problems because the status was then "stopped," but I was able to restart it later once I figured that out -- but with the 1053 error again.)
I think I've tried every suggestion in every thread for the four errors I keep getting (AMD failed to start; iTunesHelper Error 7; Windows error 998; and AMD Error 1053.)  I am fresh out of ideas and very frustrated.  I mostly want to make sure I don't lose my music and photos, which I was about to sync.
The only other thing I see that is strange on my computer (which I discovered along the way) is that I cannot receive automatic windows updates and have not had an update since 2012.  My iTunes worked a month ago, so that was obviously not a show-stopper in the past, but perhaps there is a Vista update I need for iTunes 12?  I have service pack 2 for Vista.  I have followed all threads to try to set my windows to automatic update, but no joy there either.  It checks for updates and then fails.  I followed instructions and did run an installation to install windows automatic updates, but that doesn't work either.  I tried 10 times.  It runs and takes a while, but is never able to successfully update windows.  It says "checking for updates" for a while.  Then it dies.  My last update was 6/19/12 (failed) and it says the most recent check was 6/22/12, but I have tried 20 times on 10/31/14 and 11/1/14.
When asked to "Install new Windows Update software" to check for updates, I have done so 10 times.  It downloads and installs, but never works.
It's an old Dell desktop computer from 2006, and I'm using an iPhone 5S.  I am fresh out of ideas.  Anyone really smart here?
    Thanks.
    Tristan

Upon latest reboot, I also received this error message:  "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005).  Click OK to terminate the application."
Then I got the iTunesHelper not installed correctly error again.
Then the "Windows can't check for updates" error message.
Then "Apple Push has stopped working."  Then a quick DEP error message that disappeared but said something about Apple Push being closed.
I'm also getting denials of service logged by McAffee.  Not sure if I'm getting a virus/attack or not.
Not sure if it's a problem with my old desktop machine, my Windows Vista updates, or iTunes, but I'm very frustrated and out of ideas to try.
    Thank you for your help!
    Tristan

  • Can't get itunes to install. Microsoft error message, an error has occured.

I have purchased an ipod - great. I tried to download the software provided. At the very end of the download a Microsoft error message appears stating an error has occured and needs to close. Send error report yes/no.
Okay - I tried the uninstall - "repair: through MY COMPUTER, still no luck. Same error message comes up.I then completely unistalled itunes from my computer.
I then went to Microsoft to update my computer. My computer was up to date. I have a Dell computer with Windows XP Home edition with service pack 2. I then went to Dell and checked with them. Computer is up to date.
I then called Apple who walked me through the steps to download Quick Time and itunes from the internet. Quick Time downloaded, but iTunes did not.
We then did the "msconfig" and tried again. Same thing, an error message occured. Apply said it was a Microsoft problem.
I contacted Microsoft, they checked the computer and said there was no problem. To be on the safe side, I reinstalled Microsoft on the computer to ensure I wan not missing any files.
I then went back on line to Microsoft to make sure my computer was up to date. I also ran the Window's Install clean up to ensure all was removed.
I called Apple again. They walked me through the same process and after two hours still the same error message. I service tech then tried to transfer me to a supervisor but instead hung up on me.
HELP! What else do I need to do to get this to work?

EVERYONE PLEASE!!! I do NOT mean to be UGLY but it is incredibly DIFFICULT to help when I have eleventy million people popping in for help in someone else's thread. PLEASE, I Beg of you, POST YOUR VERY OWN THREAD WITH YOUR ISSUES, Windows OS, Service Pack, Antivirus and Firewall Software, any error messages, etc. That way I can help each and every one of you without feeling like I need to pull may hair out. It is against forum rules to threadjack another user's post anyway. Thank you. I will ignore this thread if threadjacking continues and no one will get advice.
    I appreciate it greatly.

Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components
If applicable, disconnect any iPod or iOS device and close Microsoft Outlook.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later).
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (see note 1 below)
    iCloud (if present)
MobileMe (if present) (see note 2 below)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot your computer. Delete any of the following folders where they can be found: (see note 3 below)
    C:\Program Files\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files\iPod
    C:\Program Files\iTunes
    also on 64-bit systems:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Bonjour
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iPod
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
Download the iTunes setup file and run it to install. Use an account with administrative rights. This can usually be achieved by right-clicking on the downloaded file and selecting Run as... or Run as Administrator. In some cases a combination of Shift or Ctrl keys may be required for the option to show, or it may not be necessary.
If you deleted iCloud and reinstalling iTunes doesn't automatically reinstall it visit iCloud Control Panel.

  • ITunes / Quicktime won't install - error message during in installation

My computer, a Dell running with Windows Vista, has not been able to have iTunes & Quicktime installed on it in months. I've attempted to install it a countless number of times & tried a variety of things with my computer to install it but it just doesn't work - I get the same error message everytime. I can't even remember what happened to make it start acting so ridiculous.
It always starts out looking good and everything seems to be working pretty well, the green bar filling up pretty quickly, but then the 'Status' gets to about 'Publishing product information' and the error message pops up and I can't install it. It goes along the lines of "A error occurred during the installation of assembly: ..." then it goes on to say 'Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x8007054F'. Here's a screenshot of the error message with the long whatever on it:
    http://i46.tinypic.com/qoesm1.png
I believe I get the same message even when I attempt to download the two software separately (iTunes & Quicktime).
Can any one tell me what needs to be done? I have no idea what to try anymore. All help will be much appreciated. Thank you .
P.S.: If it helps, I can't really reinstall Internet Explorer (removed it when I downloaded Firefox).

    Thanks!
    (3) And I do not believe I have Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 installed on this computer, as I just tried to install it and I received this error message: http://i45.tinypic.com/a3m7bc.png
Okay ... that rules out one possible treatment. Sometimes people with the redistributable installed can get past this by applying a security update for it ... but it looks like the same sorts of problems are preventing it from installing.
    (2) And last time I checked my History I had several failures I believe, however now I only see one failed update, that being Update for Windows (KB944036). The error code listed 8000FFFF. Apparently it's an update for Internet Explorer 8.
The other primary strategy we (I?) have for dealing with these is to attempt to treat any underlying issues on the PC that prevent Windows Updates from installing. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that your 8000FFFF is related to your IE being uninstalled, I think we'd probably better try following up on the following document:
[Error when you download updates using Windows Update or Microsoft Update: 8000FFFF|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946414]
After applying those measures, do your Windows update and/or iTunes installation failures clear up?

Windows XP Pro   service pack 2

okay. let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
