Itunes reboot computer when trying to import music

I had to redo my os on my computer which is a Dell Dimension 4600. After getting my information back on the system and installing itunes I try to import my music and it reboots my system after a few seconds of importing. There isn't any blue screen or anything. I thought maybe it was version 10 causing the issue so I dropped down to a earlier version of 9 and when itunes opens its fine...however when I go to file and import folder, after a few seconds the computer reboots. Please help!

Hmmm ... let's try heading back to Dell, plugging in your Service tag in the following page (don't tell me what the service tag is):
http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx
... and updating with the rest of the updates available for you there. (Identifying your model via the service tag will just display the updates relevant to your particular configuration, so it'll cut down on any scope for confusion.)
Were there any additional updates available for you? If so, and if you update, does that help with the rebooting behavior?

    1. Music files and error message...are these music files from iTunes? If so, convert them to .wav in iTunes to convert them to wav version, and then import the .wav version into Premiere Elements 13 project using Premiere Elements 13 Expert workspace's Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets from where you drag the wav version to the Soundtrack.

    2. How you set up the project and the export settings that you select greatly influence your end product result.
    a. What are the properties of the source media?
    b. What project preset did you (manually) or the project (automatically) set to match the properties of the source media.

    c. For your export...Publish+Share/Computer/and then what? And what preset? Did you use the default settings of the preset or did you

  • Itunes locks up when trying to import CD

My itunes software locks up when trying to import a CD. Specifically, it will import 1 full CD then lock up when trying to access the artwork. I went into "properties" and stopped the software from looking for artwork, rebooted the machine and was able to import 1 CD, then it would not recognize the next one. I tried 3 different CD's and none of them worked. I am running the most recent version of itunes. Any thoughts?

Help! I have the same problem! I am running Windows XP SP3 and Itunes 8.0.2.20. I imported about a dozen cd's and then the imports started locking up the whole system. I had to power the pc off to get things running again. I have two cd drives installed and both fail. I tried disconnecting the network cable, and it still locked up. Any ideas??

  • ITunes shuts down when trying to import from CD

I have changed every setting and gone through every help file and uninstalled/reinstalled, etc and no matter what I do, when I try to import songs from a CD to iTunes, I get the message that iTunes has encountered an error and will be shut down at which point I have the option to send or not send the error report.
Why is this happening to me? I bought an iPod for my sister for a gift last night and loved it so much I went out and bought one for myself today and now I'm a little upset the only songs I can put on them are ones I buy from the iTunes music store

  • Error message when trying to import music to iPod

The error message keeps saying "Some of the itunes store files in the itunes library were not copied to ipod because the ipod may only contain content form five itunes store accounts"
i only have one account and i've only ever used thhis one account to purchase music so what is wrong with it? thanks

i think this might be reffering to the fact that some songs are not authorised, u will nbeed to find these songs and authorised ur computer before these soings can be played in itunes. meansing u bought some songs and are not authorised to play yet on that computer. so try that. u can authorse a computer to play song by following the instructions at apple.com.open itunes under store select authorise and then inset ur email and password then press authorise that is all, the computer will say it is authorised.i hope ths works.

  • Help with iTunes/AirPlay: pausing when trying to stream music over AppleTV3

I've found since I upgraded to Mountain Lion on my late 2009 white Unibody MacBook, Airplay does not work well.
iTunes sees the ATV, and the ATV sees my music library. But it pauses all the time. Sometimes before it even starts playing, and almost always a few seconds before the end of a track. Extremely annoying.
By "pauses" I don't mean stuttering or dropouts. I mean that the iTunes button literally goes from "play" to "pause" on my MacBook.
I assume it's a Mountain Lion/ATV3 problem, because AirPlay works just fine on this AppleTV from my fiancee's late-2007 MacBook running Lion (don't know if latest version), and also from both of our iPhone 4S's. Just not from my MacBook, which is of course the source we usually want to use, because it holds my music library including all of my digitized vinyl.
It doesn't matter if I initiate play in iTunes on the MacBook, or on the ATV3. (As I wrote, it sees my library just fine.)
Any ideas how to fix it?
    Here's the complete setup:
Late 2009 MacBook (white unibody), 750GB HDD, 8GB RAM
    OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.1
    iTunes 10.6.3
    <wireless>
Apple Time Capsule router (I assume it updates its firmware when Apple releases new ones, I don't know version though)
    <wireless>
AppleTV3 with 5.0.2 (4250) software, connected via HDMI to an Anthem MRX 300 A/V receiver.

    HI,
I see you "reset" but if you didn't reset network settings.. do that.
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Then restart your iPad.Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPad. To turn iPad back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

  • I get an error when trying to import MP3 files in iTunes?

When I try to import mp3 files into iTunes (version 6), I get an error message of:
The file "song file name" can not be imported An unknown error has occurred (-50).
I have already imported these files into iTnes on my old computer, but run into this problem with my new laptop. I downloaded a new version of iTunes just like I installed all my new programs on this new laptop.

(I've tried a complete removal and re-install, but that didn't help)
Anyone know why I'm getting this error message and how to correct things?
Thanks in advance for any help !!!

  • Error message when trying to import CD into itunes

Error message when trying to import CD into itunes.  "Error occured while converting the file 'name of song' The required disk coannot be found"

    Hi Grigsby9,
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. This error usually appears when your iTunes Media folder location is incorrectly configured in your iTunes Advanced preferences. Let’s check these preferences to makes sure that iTunes is point to a folder that exists:
Locate and organize your iTunes files - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/ht1391
Find and change the iTunes Media folder location
You can change the iTunes Media folder location to share music between accounts on the same computer.
    1.Mac OS X: Choose iTunes > Preferences.
    Windows: Choose Edit > Preferences.
    2. Click the Advanced pane.

  • When trying to import bought CD's (10yr old) to ITunes, it recognizes the album and the tracks, but when importing I get the error message '  Error occurred while converting 'songname' file. The required disk cannot be found

Seems also that the majority of CD's that have these problems are Warner Music published (I have roughly 20 that display the same problem)

    Windows and iTunes 10.
Had this problem "Error importing file .... songname .... iTunes cannot locate the required file" when trying to import a CD today.
My library is on an external USB hard drive.  iTunes from time to time not only loses its own library file, but also confuses windows into thinking that the library files do not exist.
So the fix where you re-tell iTunes where to find its own media file (using the preferences menu hidden behind some opaque icon for reasons that pass rational understanding) fails, and when you try to find the file using windows explorer, windows possibly confused by apple "helper" files, or possibly lost in a delusion of its own, also thinks there are no files in the music directory.  This despite usage stats on the disk still clearly showing that a lot of space is being used up by files that "aren't there".
The fix for this windows user is close everything down.  Reboot, restart iTunes and presto it as if iTunes's / Window's temporary amnesia never happened.
Last time I "lost" the library was when I did the "upgrade" to iTunes 10. I wrongly put this down to a pathetic upgrade utility. I now realise that iTunes/Windows just loses this key element of the plot from time to time, screwing up windows when it does so.
Astonished how flaky this widely used and let's face it hardly brand new software combination is.
Now I don't know if this spectacularly unhelpful performance is Apple's fault or Microsoft's or both, so I'm not going to bother apportioning my contempt.  Shame on both your houses for needless worry that I'd have to re-rate and re-sort everything from a virgin set of file back ups yet again.
