ITunes says I have more storage on my iPhone than I actually do

After syncing my iPhone 5c in the summery it shows that I have 3GB of available storage. When I look at the usage on my actual phone it tells me I only have 1.5 GB of free space. I've cleaned out all of the documents and data that I can, reset my phone, and resynced it but nothing changed. How do I get that 1.5 GB back?
I know it doesn't seem like much but I only have a 16GB phone and need every little bit I can get for work.

I managed to get rid of the phantom usage. Restoring iPhone and resetting the phone settings/data do not work for me.
I had to move the Date on my phone earlier by 1,2,3 months and found the phantom photos in the Recently Deleted Folder. Next, I deleted the photos manually from the Recently Deleted Folder and the usage got freed up from my iPhone.

I currently have a good amount of music on my iPod touch and I still have over 10gb left. But when I try to synced up my iPod to the laptop, iTunes won't complete the sync, saying I have several thousand more songs on my iPod than I really do. And then it goes on to tell me that I need 11gb more to finish the sync!
What's happening? It was working and syncing perfectly fine yesterday.

on iTunes, select your device and check the songs/albums you would like to sync with it.Do the same with your another device. This should sync the selected songs/albums only for that device.

I'm not sure why but the Itunes bar at the bottom is really full for my phone. It says that I have thousands of photos on my phone even though I have cleared all of them off to try to save space.

I had this problem, too.
I have fixed it. It cost me 99 cents.
My phone said I had 247 photos/videos. Itunes said I had 1700+. Both said that Photos & Video were taking up 10.8 GB of storage.
On my phone, I went to Settings --> iCloud --> Storage --> Change Storage Plan
I selected the 20GB plan for $0.99 a month
Then, I went to Settings --> iCloud --> Photos
I enabled My Photo Stream (slider to the right/green)
Then, I got on WiFi. I don't know how long it took, certainly not long enough to upload gigabytes of data, but I saw that my Photos & Camera app was using a far more reasonable amount of storage (1.3 GB, rather than 10.8 GB). I checked this by going to
Settings --> General --> Usage --> Manage Storage
Because I don't want the 20GB iCloud plan, I went back to
Settings --> iCloud --> Storage --> Change Storage Plan --> Downgrade Options (at the bottom)
... and I selected the 5 GB Free plan again.
Now for a little rant.
I am very unhappy that I had to give Apple one thin dime to have this fixed. After spending a couple of hours trying to figure out why I can barely use any storage on my phone, I had to pay to fix it. Ridiculous.
I still enjoy using Apple products, but I enjoy using them less and less over time. Not only is every release of iTunes less usable than the previous one, the last one wouldn't even install on my machine. That was about another six hours lost trying to figure out the problem.
I'm not sure if this is a first world problem. Ugh! My life is so hard!

Why does it say I have more photos on my iPhone than I really do?

When I back up my phone I apparently have over 1800 photos and over 4GB being used in photos. However, my photo app has only 180 picture in the album and photo stream combined. How do I find and delete the extra 1700 photos?

ITunes says I have more than 5 authorized computers - help!

We have already tried to "deauthorize all" as suggested on the support page. And since you may only do that once per year, it is not an option. The iTunes Store says only one computer is authorized, yet my iTunes account says I have more than 5. This prevents me from accessing some of my iTunes purchased material, though not all.
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the quick response! I'll do that. I have discovered in the meantime that the only items affected are the free downloads. Other purchased items -- including two I just downloaded -- are just fine.
Odd. But workable.

My Itunes says I have 19.3GB but my Iphone says I have 9.7GB - why is there a huge difference?

Anyone know the reason for such a huge difference?

Sounds like you have abn expired credit card linked o yoru accopunt.
View your iTunes account payment info and select None for the CC.
You may need to first add a valid card number before you can remove it.

I have more contacts on my iPhone than Outlook

I have 479 contacts on my iPhone (some are duplicates) and 450 in my Outlook contacts. I would very much like the 29 that are on my iPhone to be in Outlook. I have sync'd multiple times and cannot seem to resolve this. I've noticed the "Replace information on this iPhone" option; but that's going the wrong direction.
Any suggestions?

ITunes says their is more video on the phone than appears on the phone

I rented two movies and after watching them they disappeared from the phone (so I thought), when I sync the phone with iTunes it show the volume of the two movies is still on there. When I check the phone for these two movies that have been watched and expired, they appear for a split second then disappear. As if they are still cached in there and wont erase completely.
Do I need to restore the phone? If so How do I go about that?

Hey John,
Try quitting the iPhone app by holding the home button for about 5 seconds, while the iPod app is open. Then reset the iPhone http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
You can also try checking manually manage in iTunes and removing the movie manually.
If those tips do not remove the videos from the iPhone you may have to restore the iPhone.

If your iCloud account uses your family's Apple ID, you will pay $20/year for all your family members. If your iCloud account uses a different Apple ID than your family's Apple ID, you will pay only for you

Check carefully. Perhaps you are trying to copy 9 GB plus 1.3 GB for a total of 10.3 GB. That would give you the message you see.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

trying to reduce storage I have found that my iPad says I have 44 videos when I only have 9. Where should I look for them please?

Iphone won't let me take pictures because it says I have no storage, but I've deleted all my apps

I have the Iphone 4 (not the 4s) and never had any problems. I share an ICloud account with my parents and sister, and now my iphone is saying I have no storage. I deleted all my pictures and a majority of my apps and it still won't let me take any pictures, purchase any apps, or update my phone because I have no storage. I don't know what to do.

Turn off iCloud on the device. Does it work now?
If it does, then it will be necessary to either stop sharing the iCloud account or purchase additional storage for it.
If turning off iCloud does not work, try basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide of reset, restart, restore.

If you can't update or restore your iOS device - Apple Support
If that won't work, perhaps you can use Find my iPhone from a computer in your iCloud.com account to erase the device.

This has nothing to do with the Find my iPhone app being installed on the phone, but you do have to have Find my iPhone activated in the iCloud settings on the phone.
