ITunes TV sound output over Airport? ... Not !

My present setup of 7.5 plays audio from Music Library, Podcasts, and Radio streams over an Airport network to my stereo.
TV show audio, however, only plays through the built in speakers. Why? Can I fix it?

It seems that the ability to do that is disabled, most likely because of the latency inherent in Airtunes. There would be a noticeable difference between what you saw on the screen and what you heard.

Sound output to Airport Express horrible except through iTunes Airplay

I've had an Airport Express for 2 or so months now, and I use it for both wifi routing as well as its Airplay functionality, wired into my stereo. I've used it with Airplay directly from iTunes as well as setting the system sound output on my Mac to go over to the Airport Express.
As of today, only the Airplay over iTunes works without issue. When I go to the system sound preferences and select the Airport Express, I hear a very loud pop, and all output is muffled and highly distorted. If iTunes is playing, that sounds bad too. However, with the system sound prefs set to internal speakers and ONLY iTunes set to Airplay, it sounds fine. This is not good at all for me, as I often send audio from Youtube and other streaming sites to Airport Express to play on my stereo.
How can I get sound output to Airport Express from the sound preferences to play nice again?
PS, I have the identical issue with Apple TV, though I don't use it regularly for Airplay. System output to Apple TV is terrible, iTunes Airplay to it is fine, and the audio from content on Apple TV is fine.

Sound Output on MacBook - Not loud enugh

I've been using a MacBook for quite a while now and I've noticed that the sound output for programs such as Front Row is not loud enough to be able to use it from 10 feet away which is what the interface is about.
iTunes volume levels are higher but not that high, all levels in System Preferences are set to maximum.
Any suggestions or software to fix this issue???

Most notebook sound devices usually produce hallow sounds and are normally harder to hear at higher distances. Your best bet, rather than to push the limits of the speakers, ( they aren't great ) is to hook your laptop into some external speakers made for this type of operation. I usually hook my Macbook up to the TV along with my home theater system when I am using Front Row. I highly suggest you do the same.

Thanks for the answer, I already tried to install THX Console both using XP SP2 compatibility and Admin rights but no success. Anyway, I have solved the problem just enabling +2db Sub Balance gain on "Tone" panel under speakers properties ( Vista built-in ). ^_^

Stream Sound Output Over Network?

This is a somewhat crazy and off-the-wall question, but heres the scenario:
I have three windows boxes and a linux box. The problem is that I have three sets of speakers, and they are very difficult to move. This leaves the linux box without speakers, but I would like to still be able to play sound on it.
Is there some way I can take the master out and stream it over the network to somehow have a client on the windows box to play the stream?
One would think that some sort of streaming server would support something like this, but I've googled it for a while and have found nothing. I basically just want to be able to play something on remote speakers, but I haven't found a solution yet.
Anyone have an idea on how to do this?

The story is that I have a Klipsch 2.1 THX certified surround set, but they're connected to a HP compy with mobo problems (the mobo somehow corrupts the hard drive - it has persisted across 4 formats and reinstalls and 2 different hard drives). It's a PITA to move the speakers, and the wiring is sensitive and tends to crackle and lose the left speaker.
If I can stream audio there using a lightweight client, it will be great, as that compy takes forever to load anything. Literally forever. Four minutes to load Firefox! WOOHOO!

Sound output on iMac not working, any help is appreciated

1. my speakers were always plugged into my iMac and it was always working until just now
2. sound was coming out from the internal speakers (or inbuilt speakers on the iMac)
3. tested my external speakers on iPad2, iPhone4 and MacBook Pro, everything works.
4. tested another set of speakers on the iMac, fail.
did i miss out any troubleshooting steps?
please help.

Did you check whether the sound was actually turned on for those speakers in the systempreferences?

External Speakers over AirPort

Am I able to configure my sound settings so that I can utilize my external speakers connected through an AirPort as if they were directly hooked up to the computer? Lovely AirTunes is all I can do.

OK, how about the firmware on the Airport Express? You can always update that to the most recent version.
Unless something changed in a user-setting in iTunes such as EQ, or perhaps even the "Sound Enhancer" setting, I can't imagine what else would affect the quality.
Have you listened to your stuff in iTunes with headphones on - the stuff that sounds bad over Airport? Does it still sound awful through headphones or directly-connected speakers?

Troubleshoot Sound output for Macbook Pro 2009

macbook pro 2009 Sound output choice does not drop down anything but "internal speakers" choice. HDMI cable streams video and no sound. Have swapped out HDMI and it recognizes no sound for either. I think it could be a faulty adaptor for HDMI cable connection? It used to work fine then it stopped working and gave me a planet screen on TV when video was playing fine on computer. I tried again after software updates and a new hard drive and now it streams the video but sound only comes out of internal speakers. Wondering if I could be missing something on my mac before I buy another adaptor.

Simple question, I have plugged in my Linksys hub for wireless internet. However, my internet signal still runs over airport, not my hub. How do I switch my signal from airport to the 802.11g hub?

and you want it to be:

I have an Iphone 4 on the latest IOS 5 and latest 2.3 remote control app as I use Itunes 10 to manage the phone. Since version 10 of Itunes the airport express output has been degraded with a digital volume control so I refuse to use version 10 for my lossless audio. I specifically purchased the AE knowing that I would have pefect lossless digital audio to pass on to my high end music system (I understand that turning the volume to the maximum should have the same result but to me it just does not sound as good as with itunes 9). This step back with version 10 of Itunes has made me determined to stay with Itunes 9.2.1 Now I find that the upgraded version of the remote control app will not pair with or control a 9.2.1 library. Does anyone have a solution that does not involve using Itunes 10 to stream my audio under the control of the Iphone. I would dearly love to just go back to an older version of the iphone app but again how can that be done? Or better still have the option in Itunes 10 to have garanteed bit perfect output to airport devices as many people would really appreciate this as true lossless audio is essential for many serious music lovers.

Strangely enough the pref file did not show up in the Preferences folder. I don't know what this means but it could be signifigant.

It sounds like you are not able to print to your printer because it keeps timing out when you try. I would use the troubleshooting steps from the following article to help you get that printer going again. It may be something as simple as re adding the printer if you've already restarted both the printer and the computer already:

Can I put ALL the sound output from my iMac through Airport?

Just got Airport Express, and managed to install it very quickly on my existing Belkin network. Just don't forget the $ before your WEP key.
Does anyone know if its possible to put ALL the sound output from my iMac through to Airport, rather than just iTunes? So internet radio, streaming videos etc?

Can not change sound output. Help Please

Well, i've been digging all the forums lately in web. my problem is, i can't change my 'system' sound output to my sound card which is Native Instruments Audio8 Dj.
Let me explain my problem decently. I do the usual procedure, system preferences > sound > n then select the output. but nothing happens. it is always set on internal speakers or headphone or whatever plugged in to the *Built-in Output*. I try switching from audio-midi setup n that doesn't work as well. The system perfectly recognizes the sound card, i can get output from sound card with applications which have their own output settings. But i cant change the system output. I have the latest version of soundflower loaded(this might be causing the problem who knows), i used many soundcards before(or maybe even ex-drivers?) n they used to work until i updated to snow leopard. I also tried trashing the files in macintosh hd > library > preferences > audio >>
and those files *did not regenerate* after restart(like 10 times), so i had to copy them from my imac.(hehe). i tried resetting pram or nvram.(didn't do any good too)And also i tried trashing soundpref.plist which didn't do me any good neither. Now i need that sound card to give me my system output. I don't need drivers of any other ex-sound cards or whatever. My drivers are up to date. And im pretty sure this ain't an hardware fail.
So, any ideas? Thx.

I am having the exact same problem. I have spoken with Apple Care and they are having my case reviewed by "Engineers," apparently. Its very frustrating as I cannot listen to iTunes or any of my video games through my really nice monitor speakers. FYI, I had this problem without installing Sound Flower, since then I have installed it in the hopes that having something different to select it might work but no changes. If I hear any good news from Apple I will be back to let you know. This seems to be a very rare problem as I have only found one other post about this issue.

Sound output turning off in iTunes

When using iTunes on my macbook pro and connecting to AV amplifier with miniDVI-HDMI cable, the sound output turns off after some minutes. apron touching the trackpad, the sound turns on again.this does not happen with VLC. any help?

Since asking the question, I have established the following:
The sound output stops when the display goes to sleep. Note that only the display sleep mode affects this, not the computer sleep mode. Also the screen saver does not have any affect.
So, does anyone know how to stop this from happening? It does not make sense to me that iTunes ouput should stop when the display (not the computer) goes to sleep ...
