IWeb site in Firefox displays weird!

I've been designing a website for the academy at my church, I've got the site up and running and it looks great on mobile devices and safari.  I went under it in FireFox, and every textbox/shape/item has a shadow around the entire box and completely messes up the look I am going for.  Any suggestions as to how to make it behave in FireFox?
I am using FireFox for Mac, version 9.0.1 and iWeb version 3.0.4.
Here's the website:

Thanks for your help!

That's been a problem with iWeb and Firefox for a while now with drop shadows and reflections. There's a way to avoid that by following the instructions in this tutorial: 07 - Converting Photos w/Frames, Drop Shadows and/or Reflections into a Single Image File.
It also reduces the number of files needed to load for the page thus speeding up the loading of the page in browsers.
I noticed that on the Doctrine page all you text has drop shadows.  This converted the text box to an image file and made it unavailable to search engines for ranking and listing your site in searches.
Also each page other than the home page has the graphic file, i.e. News, Academics, etc. is overlapping part of the navbar making the buttons only partically active. Reduce the height of the graphic file so that it doesn't overlap the navbar:

  • Firefox does not display "Server not found" for unexist. sites, rather Firefox display previous page or blank page.

Firefox displaying regular site (address), something like: http://www.monitor.hr/, and everything is fine. Next, I write something that do not exist (site do not exist, or it is temporary out of function, etc). So, in Firefox address bar I will write something as: http://www.news-bar.hr (at this very moment, I know this site is under DOS attack, and site is not available). But my Firefox is still presenting "last correct site" ie www.montior.hr. This behaviour is wrong. Instead "last correct site", Firefox must display message "Server not found", or something simmilar.
Same behaviour exist if I start from "blank-page". I write some "wrong address" into address bar, and after some time, page is still blank, again there is no "server not found" info.

  • One of my iWeb site pages is displaying incorrectly on Google Chrome.

I've been using iWeb to publish to my FTP hosted by Bluehost for years.  Recently, one of my pages is displaying completely wrong and only shows minimal text and nothing else, it should look like all of the other main pages.  All other pages work perfectly on my site (www.VincentFWelch.com) except for the following page: http://www.vincentfwelch.com/live/ADS.html   I've tried clearing all of my browsing data as well as re-installing Google Chrome, nothing seems to fix this.  Can anyone confirm this is an issue only on my Mac or if every mac using Google Chrome displays this page incorrectly?

It doesn't display in Safari either.  Are you publishing directly to the ftp server or to a folder on your hard drive and then uploading with a 3rd party FTP client?
If it's the former publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser.  See if that page loads normally. If so then it's the upload process that's failing.
On possible fix is to use the File ➙ Publish Entire Site menu option in an attempt to get all of the files uploaded.
It appears that the files for the ADS page are not being uploaded.  You can use a 3rd party FTP client like YummyLite, Cyberduck or Trasnmit to upload the folder for the ADS page manually.

  • Firefox not displaying IWeb site correctly

Since the last two Firefox upgrades (I'm on the most current one now) on a Mac, my Iweb site is not displaying correctly.
There are circle graphics on the left side of the page (they fill the left side) and only a few show. When I click refresh different ones will show, but not the whole page.
It's not only on this page, but the other pages as well. Sometimes the masthead won't load or graphics in the portfolio won't load.
Also some of the links to CD Baby (Music Page) won't show and will say "Service Temporarily Unavailable". Sometimes if I refresh a few times those will show up.
    Thanks for your help!

Are you referring to elements added by the iWeb scripts regarding the circles?
Can you add a screen to clarify what you mean?

  • IWeb site blank in IE, but perfect in Chrome, Firefox, Safari

    Hello all,
I'm sorry, I know this question comes up again and again, but what I have read and attempted doesn't seem to help my website. I just started using iWeb last week and I really enjoy it. I was using Dreamweaver before which is a great program for CSS and HTML editing, but really doesn't compare to the simplicity and speed of designing with a WYSIWYG like iWeb.
So are there a few big culprits as to why iWeb sites don't display in IE 6,7, or 8? I realize this is pretty much an Internet Explorer problem, but can I fix at least some of the content without doing a ton of hacking to my site?
I am already fixing one issue using Dreamweaver:
    iWeb: +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>+
    instead of: +<xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">+
...so I'm not afraid to publish with iWeb, then edit a few things in the HTML/CSS. Can anything be done? It's a fairly simple website: mantheipc.webege.com (ignore text content, needs a lot of revision).

    iWeb '08 2.0.4
    OS X 10.5.7
    Dreamweaver CS5
    Uploading via FileZilla
Tested to work under Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (Mac+PC)
Tested and failed to load in IE 6,7,8 at http://ipinfo.info/netrenderer/
Tested and failed to load in IE 6 on XP Laptop
Thanks a lot for your time,
    Dylan

Removing the first line of every HTML document permits the site to load in IE.
    <xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8">
To figure out why IE wouldn't display my site, I created a new blank page and added an image, a hyperlink, a text box, and a fancy CSS text box. I also set a background gradient and page color. The page wouldn't display in IE, so I started deleting HTML by hand with a text editor starting with the most likely culprits (in-line CSS, javascript, etc). I was down to an image, hyperlink, bgcolor, and center tags and the site still wouldn't load. Realizing these are the most basic html tags there are, the only thing left that could cause a problem was that first line.
While I realize this is not at all an ideal solution, it worked. Not only does the site load, but it looks about as good as it does in Firefox and Chrome. No transparency issues or anything! The first line isn't vital to site display, but it does cause the browser to 'guess' what type of encoding the page is in. All of my testing indicated this isn't an issue on my PC or Mac, but I need to try friends and family's PC's too.
    Tested good on:
IE8, Firefox, and Chrome in Windows 7
Firefox, Chrome, and Safari in MacOS Leopard
Thanks again to everyone who read and contributed!

  • Firefox displays warning message about an SSL site

When I connect to an SSL site, sometimes firefox displayes a warning message and I can select add exception. When I click on "I understand the risk" and then "view certificate", it says no need to add exception. It actually shows the EV SSL Cert green bar. Why is the firefox showing the error in first place. I do use host file entry for the SSL site. This does not happen all the time. Sometimes, the page with the green bar is shown properly. This is a big problem as once you enter some information and submit, the warning may come back again and page is then not shown.

How did Firefox showed that warning?
Was the a pop-up on a sliding bar at the top of the browser page or a message on the web page?
Do you remember any content of that message?
Was it about a certificate (secure connection)?
Rename the file "permissions.sqlite" to permissions.sqlite.sav in the Firefox Profile Folder to remove all exceptions (cookies, images, pop-ups, software).
If renaming didn't help then you can undo and rename the file permissions.sqlite.sav to permissions.sqlite to get back the old exceptions.

  • Iweb site not showing up in firefox version 3.0

i recently published my iweb site to a folder and put it up on a hosting site, it used to be at .mac, but well...
anyway the photo album part of the pages is not showing up in the firefox at my work: 3.0
but it works fine in safari...
    any suggestions?
    www.thebeautyseeker.com

I'm having the same problem. I just published a blog with photo pages, but the photos do not load using Firefox 3.0. They show just fine using Safari. I've not tried it yet with Explorer, but friends who have logged in have not complained about not seeing the photos, so I suspect the problem is specific to Firefox.
Anyone have an idea what the problem might be?
