Ix4-300D cannot remove mapped drives

Windows 8.1 Pro
When I go to "disconnect" the currently mapped drives (to the ix4-300D) they disconnect.  When I reopen My Computer the maps are all back.

Are you talking about ext. USB-Drives connected to your NAS ( and therefore 'mapped' already NAS-internally) or about driveletters assigned to a NAS-share?
Can you leave a screenshot with the community.
I personally at this moment can only think of a MS issue, if none of the instructions provided here works for you

  • Unable to remove Mapped drives GPO

    Hello
    Windows Server 2008 R2
I previously create some mapped drives for users in 2 cities (same lan different ips - 10.10.2.x and 192.168.0.x)
Under each ou I have gone into the GPO preferences and created a "Delete" under map drives.  When rebooting the workstations, the drives are still there and mapped.  I deleted the GPO for them and still, they show up.  I also created
a new mapped drive and is sporatic to users (some users it does show up, others it does not show up).
I cannot figure out why they are still being mapped or why only some users see the new mapped drive and some don't.  Even those users that see the new mapped drive still see the old ones as well.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you
    Terry

    Hi Terry,
There may be few things which you check
    1. Run RSOP or GPresult on users system and confirm if the old / new groups are getting applied.
    2. Make sure that group policy objects are replicated all domains Controllers in domain so that there is replication issue which is causing this behavior
    3. As suggestion if you need map drives for these users then don't need create new delete map drive. You can remove the original map drive settings or filter out these set of users using item level targeting.
Hope this helps to resolve the issues.
    Regards,

  • Ix4-300d cannot create shares

HI All We recently purchased an ix4-300d to backup file on. I set a static IP and connected to the web interface. When I try to create a share, I get this error: The selected function is not available due to the state of the pools I tried updating the firmware just in case this is caused by a bug, but I can't either. It just sits there. Does anyone know how I can get past this error? Thanks.

    Hi petrocelli,
What is the RAID configuration set to? Have you tried performing a factory reset from the web interface? If the device is new and is not functioning properly, I would recommend contacting technical support or returning the device to the reseller.

  • Cannot update to Firmware version 4.1.108.32627 on ix4-300d

Just bought an ix4-300d with 4-3Tb drives.  I cannot update Firmware to the latest version.  After uploading to the NAS, when I click 'Apply' or 'Apply all pending updates", I see a message that says "The update file is being decompressed".  After several seconds, I then receive dialog box that says, "Error – The software could not be updated."
Any ideas what the issue could be?  Are there any log files to look at?
    Current Version:         4.1.102.29716
    Upgrade to:                 4.1.108.32627

    Hello dcsantis
Check the event log for any abnormal storage alerts such as degraded storage, recoverable errors, missing drive alerts, etc.  Those sort of alerts could contribute to the firmware update issue.
Some basic steps to try for the issue:
Re-download the update file again and check the md5 checksum from the download page.  If the checksum fails, try downloading from a different browser or computer and check it again.
Try uploading and applying the file using a different browser or computer.
Try re-seating all disks with the unit off, then try uploading and applying the update file again.
Try swapping disks 1 and 4 to opposite bays, then try uploading and applying the file again after booting.
LenovoEMC support should be contacted to create an incident if the above steps do not work.

  • What is the proceedure for replacing a hard drive (after failure) for RAID 5 with IX4-300D?

I have the IX4-300D with 4 hard drives (identical Seagate drives) using RAID 5.
Someday a hard drive will fail and I and I have to replace it. I read through the users manual briefly and I didn't see any documentation on how to perform a hard drive replacement and not lose any data.
    So here are my questions:
    1) I know per the instructions that Lenovo prefers using identical hard drives. Let's say in 2 years, 1 hard drive fails. Most likely, the same model Seagate hard drive will not be available. So will using a replacement hard drive by the same manufacturer with similar specifications work?
    2) Will the front panel (or the software) tell me which hard drive has failed?
    3) What is the proceedure for replacing a hard drive after a failure occurs? I read that the IX4-300D is not hot-swappable. So do I just power the IX4-300D down, replace the hard drive, and turn it back on?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi exceptionalht,
It is best to replace the hard drive with one that is the same manufacturer, rotational speed, and capacity, so it does not have to be exactly the same model.
The front panel should show which drive has failed. If not you can check the web interface to find out.
That is the basic procedure for replacing a hard drive. You can see a more detailed instructions here: Installing hard drives in an ix4-300d

a mapped drive shows as disconnected but still work in terms of getting into the shared network folder on our NAS.  but i want to remove it.  the commapnt prompt command wont do it.  you cant disconnected it because it doesnt see a networked

  • Can I Connect a USB Hard Drive Directly to the IX4-300D?

I need to copy large amounts of data from a USB hard drive to the IX4-300D. So can I connect the USB hard drive directly to the USB port on the IX4-300D?
If "yes", how does the USB hard drive show up in Windows so I can select the file to copy?

    Hi exceptionalht,
The USB ports are intended for external storage devices such as flash drives and USB hard drives. Once you connect the hard drive to the USB port, the device's content will show up as a new share in the Shares page. You should be able to map that share in Windows or have Storage Manager map it automatically.
To safely remove the external hard drive, go to the External Storage page and click the eject icon for that device.

  • IX4-300D - Drive Status "ToolTip" Not Working

    Hello,
According to the manual, when I hover my mouse over a drive in the image in Drive Management, the ToolTip should display the drive model, size, and status, including if the drive is failing.  However, mine does not display a ToolTip?  Is something wrong?
Everything else seems to be working...

    Hi maclark7029,
Did the drives come with the device or did you install your own drives? It may not recognize the drives.
What is the firmware version of your ix4-300d? It could be something with the firmware version.
The box might not pop up right away or the first time you hover the mouse over a drive. You might have to hover longer or move the mouse away and hover over the drives again.

  • Ix4-300d Add iSCSI Drive Issue

Hello Everyone, I have a brand new, out of the box ix4-300d. When i go into the iSCSI area, enable the iSCSI feature and click "Add an iSCSI Drive" the add drive area does not appear. I have tried this in IE 9, IE 11, and Chrome 43.0.2357.130 m. See below for screenshot.
The system is updated to the latest Firmware and I even did a factory reset of the device with no luck.  Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this? EDIT: I realized this is in the wrong forum could a Mod move this one - sorry for the trouble. Thxm-S

Interesting. I just created a standard share on the device. After I did that, the iSCSI drive configuration area appeared and was accessible. I have no idea why this worked but it did!!! -S

  • Cannot open Office documents through mapped drives - Opens Office start screen

    Hi all,
So very strange issue here. (Windows 7 - Office2013 with Office365 subscription)
We have a user who reported that when they opened anything in Word or Excel etc, it simply does not open and instead goes to the Word (for example) start screen where it asks if you would like to start blank document etc.
Strange thing is, after some troubleshooting, I found that this issue only occurs when opening from the file server. Desktop is fine. Even stranger is that it only happens when opening the document via the mapped drives. When going through the full path
    in explorer it works fine.
    I have tried the below...
    Office repair and clean re-install
Starting Word in safe mode - Recent docs that were opened from mapped drive do not work either
Adding users server credentials in Windows credentials manager (though not sure how to add for mapped drive - only for full path)
    Disconnecting and re-adding mapped drives
Logging into another computer with this user works fine.
Logging in as another user on the laptop works fine too.
    Thanks
    Glen

    Hi,
    Since you have mentioned:
"Logging into another computer with this user works fine.
Logging in as another user on the laptop works fine too."
It's just an issue with the specific user on the specific computer, probably the Windows Profile has been corrupted.
The detailed steps to fix the corrupted user profile, please refer to this article below:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-hk/windows/fix-corrupted-user-profile#1TC=windows-7
If your computer is on a domain:
Open Microsoft Management Console by clicking the Start button
    , typing
mmc into the search box, and then pressing Enter.‌  If you're prompted
for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
In the left pane of Microsoft Management Console, click Local Users and Groups.
If you don't see Local Users and Groups
If you don't see Local Users and Groups, it's probably because that snap-in hasn't been added to Microsoft Management Console. Follow these steps to install it:
In Microsoft Management Console, click the File menu, and then click
    Add/Remove Snap-in.
Click  Local Users and Groups, and then click Add.
Click Local computer, click Finish, and then click
    OK.
    Click the Users folder.
Click the Action menu, and then click New User.
Type the appropriate information in the dialog box, and then click Create.
When you are finished creating user accounts, click Close.
    Restart the PC.
    Hope this helps.

  • Coldfusion Cannot Detect Network Mapping Drive

I am using CFdirectory tag and want to use mapped drive in
the directory attribute. and ColdFusion is unable to detect the
    mapped drive.
Coldfusion is running as a System service.
My question is how can i create a mapped drive , so that
    Coldfusion can detect it.
    Thank you

Starting from Win2003 (or it happened earlier?), drives are
mapped per user (info kept in user profiles). Therefore, if you
mapped a network path to a logical drive, as, let's say,
Administrator, the service running under another account cannot see
    it. Options:
    1. Run service under specific account.
    2. Use UNC convention: \\server\share\path

  • Reports server Cannot read files from mapped drive

    Hi,
Am trying to run a report from a network mapped drive under WinNT 4.0 through report server.
I get "REP-0110 Error opening or reading file" error message. After looking up the help on error, I find:
    1. The file being accessed does exist
    2. The login account has full privileges
    with the file/directory/drive in question.
If the report to be run is on a local drive,
    everything is fine.
    Can anyone help me asap.
    Thank you
    Sundar

    hello,
there are multiple things to keep in mind :
    1) if you are using a mapped drive :
mapped drives are on a per-user-basis. the reports-server-service is running as a system-service by default and will not have the same mapped drives as the logged on user. in fact it fill have NO drives mapped.
what you could do is to use the UNC-path like \\servername\share\filename to adress the file
    2) problems with UNC
there are some known problems using UNC to access files on remote machines in some versions of reports. pls check with oracle support services in case this causes problems.

  • Ix4-300d network interface going off-line

I just got a new ix4-300d to use as an iSCSI target in a relatively low-performance requirement file server.
I have used ix4-200d and ix4-300d in the past for iSCSI targets in disk-based backup scenarios wihtout issues.
I am having problems with this one, though. I am attempting to copy data to this new unit (with a VHD mounted from the iSCSI connection to the system), and while data seems to copy OK, at some point the network interface quits working somehow.
When this occurs, the unit still thinks that the interface is configured, and everything seems OK, I just cannot connect. Obviously, this causes my iSCSI initiators to die, and the VM hosted crashes hard. At that point, I have to restart the storage unit, and then reconnect my initiators, and then bring everything back online.
I've updated the firmware to the latest, but it wasn't that far out of date. I've found an article titled "Network storage device is not assigned an IP address" in the knowledgebase that points ot a problem with the software in the 4.0.2 series, and I was at 4.0.6, and am now current in 4.0.8. I am testing the process again, but wanted to check with the community to see if anyone has experienced anything similar and/or could offer some idea of why this interface quits working.
For what it's worth, the other units I have worked with were all in the 3.x series of software.
Thanks for any help/information anyone can provide.
    Solved!

    Hi chloeroxymax,
    Do you have discovery enabled?
If not, check the box for "Enable discovery with iSNS" under the iSCSI settings and select "Use local iSNS server".
Then, on your iSCSI Initiator, go to the Discovery tab. Click "Add Server" under iSNS servers and enter the IP address of the NAS.
The device should show up under the Targets tab (you may have to click the refresh button)
On your other NAS devices, go to the iSCSI settings page and select "Enable discovery with iSNS" but select "Use external iSNS server" and type in the IP address of the ix4-300d NAS.
This may help things run smoothly. If the device is still disconnecting, I would recommend contacting technical support since this is a new device and you are covered by the warranty for support.

  • Ix4-300d iSCSI disconnect Windows 2012R2

    Hello Everyone,
I just recently purchased (3 days ago) an ix4-300D and updated it to the latest patch.  I have 4 x WD 3TB Disks and they are configured with a raid 0 configuration.  I then have 2 NICs (not bonded) and using the second port for the iSCSI LAN (192.168.100.100, Jumbo Frames 9000) and the 1st port for accessing the device (192.168.1.100).  I carve out 3 TB iSCSI LUN (with CHAP) and give it a name. My Windows Server sees this (under the 192.168.100.X network) and I"m able to bring it online, mount it, format it and use the LUN.  I then start copying about 2.5 TB of Data off an ix2 back to this Ix4 and about 1/4 through the copy, the iSCSI disconnects and the actual unit is frozen., It won't respond to web interface on the 192.168.1.x LAN either. I have to actually unplug it and then plug it back in for the unit to respond.   I know that iSCSI works on the Window Server as I replaced a custom NAS Server using OpenFiler and worked for over 2 years w/o issues/reboots or anything else. The only thing that has changed is the NAS box (the ix4-300d).  Can anyone think of anything I could be doing wrong? What to check? I am thinking it is a bad unit but I want to check everything first.
I will say the only thing that *could* be out of line (but is VERY doubtful is the problem) is that 3 of the WD drives are 3TB Reds and 1 is a 3 TB Black. I'm going to remove the black drive and redo the entire unit to see if that resolves the problem but I doubt it will.  I know the Reds are "certified".
I have already removed the Jumbo Frames just in case (though the windows networking card supports Jumbo Frames 9000 since the old SAN was working with these w/o issue).
    Thoughts anyone???

    Hello CPXGreg
Using a mixed disk array can cause instabilities, so I do recommend that you try using the unit without the WD Black disk for at least testing.
Next, there are various factors that could cause or contribute to a firmware lock like this.  Usually this is caused by media server crashing, which then escalates to a full firmware lock.  I recommend checking that media server has been turned off for now and any unused protocols.  If the unit still locks up I recommend that you contact LenovoEMC support to have a dump report from the unit reviewed.  This way we can check what may be at the root of the issue.
