Hi gurus,
I need to know, how can I develop an application for my Ipaq Pocket PC with J2ME features?? My pocket pc have WINCE 3.0. I can't find a Java plug in or Java runtime enviroment for WINCE.
If anyone know any information about it, or any documentation, I will be very pleased!!!!

  • J2ME for PalmOS and WinCE? GPRS?

    Hi all,
I'm a Java developer for a couple of years, but I really know nothing about J2ME (or JME).
As a J2ME newbie I'd like to know if there's support for J2ME on PalmOS and Windows CE (Pocket PC). Could somebody point me some resource describing the supported plataforms?
Is it straightforward to do network communication using GPRS? Is it even possible?
    Thank you!

Is it straightforward to do network communication
using GPRS? Is it even possible? If the above query is pertaining to Java ME. Yes, you can communicate to an http server via GPRS with Java ME enabled device, The network layer and the connection framework is kept quite abstact from application developer perspective.
Try Generic Connection Framework [ GCF ] in J2ME on the web you'll find plenty of articles.

  • Are there any drivers for Pocket PC and NI USB-6008 available?

    Hello everybody,
I alraedy read that there are no drivers for Pocket PC available to communicate with NI USB-6008 or other USB devices using LabView PDA Module. The reason is that most Pocket PCs have no USB host functionality. It's a pity, because I'm using a e800 Toshiba PDA that provides USB host functionality.
Furthermore I'm already using several NI USB-6008/6009 within applications developed with LabWindows and I would rather reuse these devices than byuing new ones like NI CF-6004. Perhaps NI offers a driver for Pocket PC - that would be nice.
Does anybody share my opinion or have some suitable solutions?
    Thanks in advance.
    Sincerely
    Mario

    Hello Mario,
we are aware that the usage of the USB port on PDA devices is a feature that becomes more and more important. But at the moment we do not support it. Unfortunately we do not have an NI-VISA driver for PDA which is used for the USB devices on the PC side.

  • What font and sizings should I use for pocket magazine?

    Hi
I am nearly finished with a 165 x 120mm puzzle magazine but need to play with the font family and sizing so that its best for printing as crisply as possible.
Currently I'm using Helvetica Neue LT Std - 65 Medium, font size 11px (14px), I am thinking about changing to Arial Regular, 9px (11px), but what would be a standand font and size for good printing practice for A5 and smaller booklet/magazines?
Any advice here would be great thanks.
    Ash

Sounds like you set up for an interactive document rahter than for print in the initial setup. No major harm done. Right-click the squer inthe upper left corner betweenthe rulers and reset the units to inches and see if the type reverts to points, if not, you may be able to change it in the prefs, and failing all there is a 1:1 relationship between px and pt in InDesign.
None of the above has anythign to do with your question about suitability. There's no good reason I can think of to choose Arial over the Helvetica Neue in any size. And I don't think there are any "standards" for how small the type should be. Are you expecting your readers to be older and have difficulty with small type? Will everything that needs to be on the pages fit at 11 pt? I would advise using the larger type, if possible, to help the vision impaired, but I also suggest you print a few pages and look at them in both sizes. Are they readable, or does one look like a sea of gray?

  • J2me cldc midlet for windows mobile(cdc) in netbeans

    Hi,
I have a midlet developed in Mobility Pack 5.0, and I have to change it so, that it works, and looks ok on Windows Mobile. That means that I have to port a cldc midlet to a cdc device. I've found two vm-s for windows mobile, for running midlets. J9, and CrEme. I also saw that the mobility pack for cdc together with CrEme make it possible to build CDC apps for windows mobile. The question is, how can I integrate the cdc windows mobile emulator with the mobility pack (for CLDC?), to be able to develop midlets for Pocket PC?
    Thanks!

I think you go to Tools Menu -> Java Platform
and add a new platform by chose j2me platform.
Then the netbeans search for the emulator and add it in the IDE support.

  • Personal Profile and WinCE

I Have to develop an application intended for Pocket PC running WindowsCE.
I have readed articles explaining the use of Personal Profile and all the related CDC profiles, but in the download page, there is only a Linux/x86 java runtime environment...
How can I develop correctly applications for WinCE with Personal Profile?
Note: I'm new to CDC but I've been working with CLDC/MIDP for 2 years..
    Thanks
    Ricardo

Ok, after I posted this topic I've noticed there was a huge thread about this problem. I haven't readed all of topics, but I'll try to avoid my problem, once there's no solution this time..
Thanks to brownb2 to start this important discussion here.

  • Sip User Agent for Pocket PC

    Hi,
I want to create SIP user agent for Pocket PC, to enable users to make and receive telephone
calls to other users on SIP platform, and to and from the telephone network (PSTN).
I have read alot of articles, and looks like J2ME + JAIN sip is my solution.
So I just want to confirm that it really works for Windows Mobile 2003?
Is JVM available for that OS?
    Thanks :)

sip useragent for pocketpc is not compatible with j9vm.

  • PDF quality issues on Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0

The quality of PDF's rendered by Adobe Reader 2.0 PPC is awful when compared to Adobe Reader LE. We are running it on HTC X7500's with a nice 5" display, but you have to zoom in +5x to read the text on our parts manuals, where as LE renders the same manual crisply and sharply and you don't have to zoom in at all to read the text. Unfortunately we use a lot of hyperlinks, forms and annotations in our documents which are only available with AR2.0PPC and not LE or indeed any of the other 3rd party readers (FoxitReader, PocketXPDF or Clearvue).
I'm assuming that this is down to anti-aliasing methods used, and that AR2.0PPC has not been updated for four years!
Are we likely to see a version of Adobe Reader for Pocket PC with the quality of LE? or have Adobe given up on developing this platform?

    >>> Our techs have been using the HTC Blueangel (Same as the I-Mate pictured on your site), and although the image rendered by Adobe Reader was quite sharp, the size of the screen meant you were continually zooming in and out of pages to find the appropriate parts. So weve chosen the HTC X7500 as a replacement because of its 5 screen (amongst other reasons). <<
Ho Kay... have looked at the file and, based on the general layout (drawings with part# references) don't think you can get there from here.
Back to the basic goal, a couple of thoughts based on the assumption that your company is generating these pdf's and needs pda access to them.
Perhaps the part# references can be hyperlinked so the tech could tap the part# on the image and go to a table entry with all of the info on that specific part.
In that case, html would be a better format for navigation since, afaik, there does not seem to be a <back> button in reader.

  • Monopoly (original and world), Tetris Pocket god.

I have version 2.2.1 or whatever the last update was before 3 and wanted to know if any of these games ran on it. I heard for updates for Pocket god you do need 3.0. As for the other 2-3 I just want to make sure before I purchase that they can run on the version before 3.0. I don't want to buy an app/game and find out that I need to update. Im worried that if I do update my touch will screw up and then I wont be able to have it any more cause I didn't buy an extended warranty and the fact that Id have to pay for something that I didn't screw up.
    Thanks

Pocket God does require OS version 3.
Even though the other two you mention in your subject do not require ver3, they may need it in the future. Apps are often updated in order to cure a bug or add new features. If an App you buy gets upgraded and then requires ver3, your iPod will no longer run the App unless you upgrade.
I bought ver3 for my Touch and so have many other people - with no problems.

  • Installer and icon for j9 application

    Hello there!
I've done a j9 (personal profile for windows mobile) application and I wish to change the executable icon on the device. Additionally I'm in need of as installer for this application. Is it possible to build a cab file with both application and j9 to deploy on the taget device?
    many thanks!

I would like to do exactly what you are describing, however I am not there yet since I just started the development of a Java on Pocket PC project.
I did see reference to a tool by IBM called JXE which seems to wrap up a java app in a native executable for Pocket PC
Check out their wirelss forum and you may find more details on this.

Their Flash detection script does not recognise PocketPC. You
    could try
using PocketIE Plus to view it. Set it to identify itself as
    Internet
    Explorer 6 -
    http://www.reensoft.com/PIEPlus/.
    Won't work if you have
Winsows Mobile 5 OS, but you can find other tools that can do
    the same
    "identify as IE 6" trick.

The html says this is Flash 5, so it should play fine.
    How about this

This is Flash 6, and should also play fine.

The Adobe Reader and the Flash player are not connected in
    any way, so this
    is not important information.

  • Encryption between j2me and j2ee

I need to exchange some cofidential data between j2me client and servelt using http connection . So i need to encrypt the data before i send from j2me and the data should be decrypted at the server side so obviously i should also pass the key. I have searched on the net for a common algorthim that wil suit my requirements but i din get any useful solution. Please any one help me in finding out a algorithm tat meets my requirements.
    I appreciate all the replies

i am getting the impression you are new to data security...
if this is indeed the case, and you are in any kind of hurry, i strongly advise you to use ssl if at all possible.
if you can not or will not use ssl then you will need to look into some other options.
there are multiple algorithms to choose from for secure key exchange, diffie-hellman prob being the most popular.
however, you will need to supplement the cldc api in order to implement.
some key words to search on:
    diffie-hellman
    rsa
    aes
    tripple des
    satsa
    bouncycastle
    j2me security
    j2me encryption
