J2ME Port 0 Inbox problem

Hi, I'm new to this but trying to learn rapidly and need your help!
I am trying to develop a Java Application, that sends an automated SMS message back to the originator of an incomming message that is received at port 0 directly into the inbox of a Nokia series 40. Is there any way I can read the phone number of the sender of the original message from port 0 or grab it anywhere else as J2ME does not allow access to port 0 messages?
I only need the phone number of the originator of the SMS - nothing else, I do not need to read any of the message contents.
Is there any way at all of doing this in J2ME? I believe I can listen on port 0 using Pushregistry which I could use to activate my app every time an SMS is received, but how do I get the phone number of the originator so that I can reply?
Any ideas welcome!
Thanks for your help.

I think the next step is try the PowerBook, using the
office ISP. Also, use the Network Utility to try and
ping the server, when back in the Office.
BTW, in my working days as an energy company
executive, I sometimes traveled to countries in the
UAE.
All the best,
Ernie
Hello Ernie. Here's the report: (1) Over the weekend, I tried to access mail.xxx.ae using Mail on my PowerBook from a Wi-Fi hotspot in a café where I know the ISP is Etisalat, which is the same ISP as the one used in my office. Mail worked perfectly. (2) From my home in Dubai at 7:30am, where the ISP is something called DIC Telecom, Mail on the PowerBook was able to access the mail server and check/download email. (3) From my office in Abu Dhabi at 9am, using the ISP Etisalat, the PowerBook (and the two iMacs in the office) cannot access the mail.xxx.ae server using Mail. Connection Doctor gives a red light for that particular server (but is able to access the Dot Mac server and the Verizon mail server on which I have personal accounts). (4) All of our Macs (PowerBook and iMacs) are able to access the mail.xxx.ae server using Entourage. (5) I pinged the server mail.xxx.ae using Network Utility on the PowerBook and was able to contact the server. 0% packet loss.
Other users in my office are running Outlook on Windows; they reported sporadic problems accessing email last week but no problems today. (Then again, I am not having problems so long as I am willing to use Entourage).
Any ideas?
Thanks,
DXB Law

  • Inbox problem

    I seem to have an inbox problem. My inbox became large (1500 messages). I was not using rules. I set up 8 rules and began to apply the rules. That worked for the first 500 messages then I found: 1)messages wouldn't delete, remained gray and then showed up again. 2) rules no longer worked 3) messages could not be manually moved to any folder.
    I did the following based on discussion board suggestions:
    rebuilt each folder
    file vault was run
    shut down and restarted after the above steps.
    I really need to get the inbox issue resolved since I will now be syncing to a newly purchased iphone.
    Your help would be appreciated

    There is no reason for the messages to get deleted automatically.
    Reinstall the firmware. If the problem persists please contact the authorised Nokia Care Centre in your area.

    Hi Vignesh,
    Might be you can call ActiveX or DLL objects of the software installed for modem from LabVIEW, if it is unblocked.

  • Mini display port to HDMI problem...still happening, apple needs to help!

    i read a lot about this topic and the question was marked answered, but there was no answer, sooo...
    this is just a heads up to apple that this problem still exists and many people are still having it! Please do something... you put this mini display port on your computers... sold them to us... and now dont have software that lets it work... loosing a lil faith in apple today! there were 11 pages on this that i saw, i think it deserves a firmware update!
    this next part is a direct copy of a post by sanktcolon and he explained the problem very well, so if your interested...
    I figured I would just tell you all about my story. I do not have any solutions, the problem is still ongoing. But first I'd like to clear some confusion.
    There seem to be a couple of people in this thread who thinks that when you experience this problem and you plug the HDTV with your MacBook through HDMI, you get a connection with the HDTV and can change the settings. This is not true. What happens is that the MacBook will flash its screen like it does when it detects a TV being connected, but then it will go back to normal. No connection established. Of course, there's people in this thread with different kinds of problems but with similarities. However, the main problem in this thread is quite clear and it's the same one that I have.
    So with that out of the way, here's what happens for me and most people in this thread:
    I've been using a Mini Display Port to HDMI adapter for quite a while and it has been working great. But lately I've been experiencing issues with it. There is nothing wrong with the adapter nor the cable, and certainly not the TV.
    When I connect the adapter to the computer, the screen on the MacBook will flash blue, like it should, but it will not connect to the TV. What does this mean? It means that it detects the TV but is unable to establish a connection with it. Probably because it sends the wrong signals.
    Now that's all pretty logical, but here comes the weird stuff. If I continue to try and re-establish a connection, either by plugging in and out the cable or changing HDMI-ports with the TV-remote (the MacBook re-detects when I switch from HDMI1 to HDMI2 and back), it will eventually establish a connection with the TV and work fine. Though, this can take minutes. Plenty of minutes. Last night I tried re-detecting for about 15 minutes and it didn't work. However, this morning it worked quite quickly.
    So the problem is quite obviously with the MacBook/the OS and not with the adapter, cable or the TV. It's just ridiculous, and frankly quite annoying, to read posts where people claim you should get a new adapter. Why? Because there's so many people out there with different adapters, and people who have switched adapters and so on and so forth, that experience the exact problem I just describe. So either there's a problem with the MacBook/OS or there's a lot of TVs and adapters out there that are faulty. It's just illogical.
    Once again I would like to remind you all that there's no connection, what so ever, between the TV and the MacBook when it doesn't establish one. And by establish I mean that you can actually see the screen on the TV. So bringing up the display settings won't do anything, search for devices on the TV or in the MacBook won't do anything. There just is not a TV there for the MacBook.
    I have tried everything posted in this thread and the only thing that works for me is trying over, and over, and over, and over again until it just randomly works.

    I too am having this same problem with my Macbook Air (Late 2010 Edition). I think this has something to do with OSX 10.6.6. Before the update, my mini display to HDMI was working flawlessly. Now, when I try to plug in to the TV my macbook just flashes the blue screen with no picture going to the TV what so ever. I'm not sure what was done with the update, but i'd sure like to be able to connect this machine to the TV again! APPLE, HEAR OUR VOICES! Fix this problem!

  • Mini display port to DVI problems

    Hello community,
    I have a question regarding the connection from an iMac via the mini display port to a DVI input at a TFT monitor. I have an older TFT monitor and now I connected the iMac with this monitor via mini display port -> DVI adapter -> DVI cable -> monitor.
    It is quite a simple connection, but actually when I force Mac OSX to detect external monitors it does not react at all. Mac OSX behaves as if there is no connection to an external monitor.
    I already told this to my reseller and they told me that the adapter is not working correctly and they gave me another one. With that one I have exactly the same problem and now I'm quite sure, that it is not a problem of the adapter, but somehow my iMac does not find the external monitor.
    Is there probably an underlying problem I do not understand yet?
    By the way, my very old Macbook White has no problems detecting the monitor. If I use the older video output it works fine, but the new output at my iMac 21,5 inch does not work with my monitor.
    My question is, why does it not work and what kind of monitor do I need, that it can be connected with my iMac (via DVI)?

    Is the adapter plugged in all the way in the Mini DisplayPort?  It takes more force than you might expect.

  • Nokia X3 inbox problem

    hi, i have X3-00 two months ago, a week since i bought this phone, i directly updated the firmware into v11.00 because when my phone turned on for the first time, it is so slow. then i updated into v11.00
    the problem solved, yet another problem comes up.in conversation menu, sometime when the conversation hit 1000 messages, the the conversation will be in a mess. for example is the conversation of contact 'A', it contains another contact sms. when i changed the style into inbox view, there will be a sent message(envelope with 'i' mark) in the bottom of the inbox. damn, what's happened to my phone?
    i solved it by restarting my phone, but i tired to do it all the time -_-

    This may not be a direct answer to your query but storing lots of messages on the phone is the cause for many a problems as reported on this Forum.. The more frequent being the On screen Notification for receiving new message not working and no sound alerts for the same....
    If you really need to keep ALL these messages, why not Sync them with OVI Suite on the PC ?

  • Apple's xpress port has a problem with Apogee mobile card...

    Who can I speak with about this problem? I tried here, I tried Apple support ? Nobody can answer my question about this problem? I purchased a new MacBook Pro in January to use with Apogee mobile card but the xpress port in MacBook Pro has a major problem because of it's new design? Please can someone convey were to get help in Apple or a least an answer..Please someone.........

    Hi,
    What I mean is the microphone jack on your x-fi notebook. since you are saying you can hear yourself when you switch the recording source to microphone, I would assume that you have plugged in a microphone into your x-fi notebook. You should check if there is a microphone control on your volume mixer and whether it is unmuted if there is one. There are many sound card which allows for the microphone audio to be heard on the speaker output if the microphone source is unmuted.

  • J2ME invoking web service problem

    Hello. I'm trying to create an application which invokes an ASP 2.0 WebService. For the J2ME, i'm using NetBeans with the SE Developer SDK. The code is not so complicated:
    service.ServiceSoap_Stub srv = new service.ServiceSoap_Stub();
    srv._setProperty(Stub.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, "http://localhost/WebServiceTest/Service.asmx");
    srv._setProperty(Stub.SESSION_MAINTAIN_PROPERTY, Boolean.FALSE);
    String text = srv.remoteMethod();
    The problem is: when i run the application with the Default NetBeans Color Phone, everything is fine; it works. Now, when i try to load it with the SE Developer Emulators, the problem appears.
    When using SE K750 Emulator, if i'm not using threads, when i' trying to invoke the web service i get the following error: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: service/ServiceSoap_Stub: service/ServiceSoap. If i'm using threads, the emulator crashed when started with a Windows error (zayit.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.)
    Both applications run ok when i'm using the Default Color Phone from NetBeans and this problem occurs with every phone from the SE SDK.
    Is J2ME platform installed on SE phones modified or it's the same runtime environment on all phones? Why does this problem appears? Thanks in advance.

  • Inbox problems

    My inbox has suddenly started showing all messages as unread. It's happened to me once before, but appeared to correct itself. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd be grateful for any advice on how to eliminate this in the future and to rectify the present difficulty without having to open each message again individually.

  • WRT54G v.3 Port Forwarding Reset Problem

    I have a Linksys WRT54G and I've had it for well over 3 years. I've been using another Wired router as a DHCP server and only used the wireless router for wireless access.
    But recently, I took the wired router away and began using the WRT54G. I set up everything correctly including Port Forwarding, but the strange thing is that whenever I reboot my computer, the port forwarding service stops. If I enable it, disable it or do anything else, it still won't work.
    The only way to fix this problem is to 'Reset Factory Settings' every time, but it gets really frustrating doing it every day. Has anyone else had this issue? P.S. - I have the latest firmware.

  • WRT160n Port Range forwarding problem

    I have a WRT160n that I am trying to forward some ports on for some DVR equipment. When I use the single port forwarding and enter each port separately it works fine. But I have 2 DVR's and they use a bunch of ports each so I want to use the port range forwarding because there are not enough spots in the single port forwarding section. The ports I am trying to forward are 8000-8004 for one IP address and 8005-8009 for a second IP address. I have entered it into the port range forwarding section but I can not connect from outside my network. As I said if I enter them in the single port section seperately as 8000,8001,8002,8003,8004 then I can connect fine outside my network. Any idea's what the problem is?

    How about you isolate it first by forwarding the ports for one DVR. Forward them one by one on the Port Forwarding Range page then see if it works on one DVR. If it will, try to do the same thing for the other DVR.
    Yes I already tried this with no luck. I tried just opening one port in the port forwarding for 1 DVR and it did not work, Opening this same port in the single port forwarding did work.
    Is your router a version 1,2, or 3? Your router probably needs to be updated (firmware).
    Firmware
    11/08/2010
    Ver.1.02.11
    Download
    3.15 MB
    Firmware
    11/15/2010
    Ver.2.0.03 Build 9
    Download
    3.25 MB
    Firmware
    07/12/2010
    Ver.3.0.03 Build 3
    Download
    3.31 MB
    And then reset and reconfigure your router again for internet connection and try the port range forward again and see if you can both DVRs working properly.

  • Usb ports and shutdown problem

    hi
    im using win xp with bootcamo on my macbook 13"
    sometimes i close the lid while xp still running.
    when i open it, i cant use any of the usb ports....i have to restart in order to use the usb port again. and that brings me to another problem - the computer get stuck in the "logging off" screen...i need to press the power button for a couple of seconds, and then turn it on again....
    so, usb not working and computer freeze on shutdown....
    help anyone??
    thanks

    In Vista, you can go into Power Options control panel and change how and when devices, like USB, will go into low power mode or not.
    Of course better drivers could help, too.
    At this point, I would clean up and repair the drive; make sure you have a good image (WinClone).
    Along with chkdsk there is system file checker that will look for some types of errors
    sfc /scannow
    But it sounds like the hard restarts have a toll in the file system's integrity.

  • RTSP steaming Port Forward (?) problems with 4 (four) WVC54GCA cameras on WRT54G v2 router.

    I am having difficulties correctly setting up my four (4) WVC54GCA cameras on a WRT54G v2 router to make them stream RTSP videos that I can view on my BlackBerry Bold. I can access the cameras from the internet, through
    http://CAM1_SubDomain.Linksys-Cam.com/1024
    http://CAM2_SubDomain.Linksys-Cam.com/1025
    http://CAM3_SubDomain.Linksys-Cam.com/1026
    http://CAM4_SubDomain.Linksys-Cam.com/1027
    so that part works fine.
    All the 4 cameras are set up with static IP addresses.
    The default RTSP port 554 and RTP Data port at 5000 are forwarded to CAM1 IP address. I can access CAM1 RTSP feed on my Blackberry Bold (and also on a good old Samsung SGH-A706 cell phone).
    CAM 1 Settings:
    STATIC IP: 192.168.1.201
    Alternate HTTP Port: 1024 à Forwarded to 192.168.1.201
    RTSP Port: 554 à Forwarded to 192.168.1.201
    RTSP Data Port: 5000 à Forwarded to 192.168.1.201
    RTSP access on cell phone WORKS only with the following format: rtsp://CAM1_SubDomain.Linksys-Cam.com/1111, where 1111 is the access code.
    CAM 2 Settings:
    STATIC IP: 192.168.1.202
    Alternate HTTP Port: 1025 à Forwarded to 192.168.1.202
    RTSP Port: 1029 à Forwarded to 192.168.1.202
    RTSP Data Port: NOT SURE IF I NEED TO FORWARD ONE, HELP PLEASE
    Despite I have a dedicated subdomain for each camera from TZO, the following link DOESN’T WORK
    rtsp://CAM2_SubDomain.Linksys-Cam.com/1111, where 1111 is the access code.
    Actually, when I enter the above link, the cellphone brings in the feed from CAM1, I guess due to the identical access code with CAM2. Once I change the access code for CAM2, it doesn’t’t show any feed.
    CAM 3 Settings:
    STATIC IP: 192.168.1.203
    Alternate HTTP Port: 1026 à Forwarded to 192.168.1.203

    DMZ could probably fix the problem for a second camera, but not for all four CAMs
    OS: XP SP2
    Question 1: Any idea how can I get all the four cameras RTSP feed on my cell/BlackBerry?
    Question 2: I am running out of Port Range forwards. Should I add more port forwards, I have only one more shot. Any workaround?
    Each and every help idea is greatly appreciated!

    I have six of these cams and used the tutorial and review at http://www.Myhomserver.com for help.  First thing, set ALL the RTSP access codes the SAME, so all you need to do is increment the port for each cam
    Cam 1 - 192.168.1.200 - set at port 80 TCP - RTSP port default at 554, forward port 5000 UDP/TCP and the RTSP access code 12345
    Cam 2 - 192.168.1.201 - set at port 1024 TCP - RTSP port at 1029, forward port 5001 UDP/TCP and the RTSP access code 12345
    Cam 3 - 192.168.1.202 - set at port 1025 TCP - RTSP port at 1030, forward port 5002 UDP/TCP and the RTSP access code 12345
    Cam 4 - 192.168.1.203 - set at port 1026 TCP - RTSP port at 1031, forward port 5003 UDP/TCP and the RTSP access code 12345
    Cam 5 - 192.168.1.204 - set at port 1027 TCP - RTSP port at 1032, forward port 5004 UDP/TCP and the RTSP access code 12345
    Cam 6 - 192.168.1.205 - set at port 1028 TCP - RTSP port at 1033, forward port 5005 UDP/TCP and the RTSP access code 12345
    This worked for me using the above settings....take your time, plan out the ports, all RTSP ports must be different on each cam
    Accessing CAMS can be done via your cell phone below:
    Camera 1---> RTSP://<your TZO camera domain>:554/12345
    Camera 2---> RTSP://<your TZO camera domain>:1029/12345
    Camera 3---> RTSP://<your TZO camera domain>:1030/12345
    Camera 4---> RTSP://<your TZO camera domain>:1031/12345
