Inbox problems

My inbox has suddenly started showing all messages as unread. It's happened to me once before, but appeared to correct itself. Has anyone else had this problem? I'd be grateful for any advice on how to eliminate this in the future and to rectify the present difficulty without having to open each message again individually.

Thanks for your attempt to help. My startup disk has 74.4 GB capacity with 47GB available, so it probably isn't a memory problem. There has been no recurrence to date, but am still having to manually delete the original duplicate messages.
What’s the capacity and space available on your
startup disk? Take a look at the comments about disk
space in the following article:

has a bearing on what you’re observing:

  • Inbox problem

I seem to have an inbox problem. My inbox became large (1500 messages). I was not using rules. I set up 8 rules and began to apply the rules. That worked for the first 500 messages then I found: 1)messages wouldn't delete, remained gray and then showed up again. 2) rules no longer worked 3) messages could not be manually moved to any folder.
I did the following based on discussion board suggestions:
    rebuilt each folder
    file vault was run
shut down and restarted after the above steps.
I really need to get the inbox issue resolved since I will now be syncing to a newly purchased iphone.
    Your help would be appreciated

There is no reason for the messages to get deleted automatically.
Reinstall the firmware. If the problem persists please contact the authorised Nokia Care Centre in your area.

  • Nokia X3 inbox problem

hi, i have X3-00 two months ago, a week since i bought this phone, i directly updated the firmware into v11.00 because when my phone turned on for the first time, it is so slow. then i updated into v11.00
the problem solved, yet another problem comes up.in conversation menu, sometime when the conversation hit 1000 messages, the the conversation will be in a mess. for example is the conversation of contact 'A', it contains another contact sms. when i changed the style into inbox view, there will be a sent message(envelope with 'i' mark) in the bottom of the inbox. damn, what's happened to my phone?
i solved it by restarting my phone, but i tired to do it all the time -_-

This may not be a direct answer to your query but storing lots of messages on the phone is the cause for many a problems as reported on this Forum.. The more frequent being the On screen Notification for receiving new message not working and no sound alerts for the same....
If you really need to keep ALL these messages, why not Sync them with OVI Suite on the PC ?

  • J2ME Port 0 Inbox problem

Hi, I'm new to this but trying to learn rapidly and need your help!
I am trying to develop a Java Application, that sends an automated SMS message back to the originator of an incomming message that is received at port 0 directly into the inbox of a Nokia series 40. Is there any way I can read the phone number of the sender of the original message from port 0 or grab it anywhere else as J2ME does not allow access to port 0 messages?
I only need the phone number of the originator of the SMS - nothing else, I do not need to read any of the message contents.
Is there any way at all of doing this in J2ME? I believe I can listen on port 0 using Pushregistry which I could use to activate my app every time an SMS is received, but how do I get the phone number of the originator so that I can reply?
    Any ideas welcome!
    Thanks for your help.

I think the next step is try the PowerBook, using the
office ISP. Also, use the Network Utility to try and
ping the server, when back in the Office.
BTW, in my working days as an energy company
executive, I sometimes traveled to countries in the
    UAE.
    All the best,

Hello Ernie. Here's the report: (1) Over the weekend, I tried to access mail.xxx.ae using Mail on my PowerBook from a Wi-Fi hotspot in a café where I know the ISP is Etisalat, which is the same ISP as the one used in my office. Mail worked perfectly. (2) From my home in Dubai at 7:30am, where the ISP is something called DIC Telecom, Mail on the PowerBook was able to access the mail server and check/download email. (3) From my office in Abu Dhabi at 9am, using the ISP Etisalat, the PowerBook (and the two iMacs in the office) cannot access the mail.xxx.ae server using Mail. Connection Doctor gives a red light for that particular server (but is able to access the Dot Mac server and the Verizon mail server on which I have personal accounts). (4) All of our Macs (PowerBook and iMacs) are able to access the mail.xxx.ae server using Entourage. (5) I pinged the server mail.xxx.ae using Network Utility on the PowerBook and was able to contact the server. 0% packet loss.
Other users in my office are running Outlook on Windows; they reported sporadic problems accessing email last week but no problems today. (Then again, I am not having problems so long as I am willing to use Entourage).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

  • Changing 'Sent Messages' to point to 'Inbox' problems

    Hello,
    In Messenger Express, go Options->Settings.
    When you choose :
    Sent Messages
When sending a message place a copy in Inbox
Now, go back to your Inbox.
In my Inbox, in the 'From' column it actually shows the 'To' values of the emails.
Does this happen for everyone? Or is it just us? Is it a known bug?

    Yes, it's a known bug. It's fixed in current versions, I believe, meaning 6.1 . . .
The workaround for 5.2 versions is, "don't do that".

  • Inbox Problems - Mac Mail Slow due to too many messages (45,000+)???

I have more than 75.000 messages in Mac Mail (mobile me). I need all these messages and constantly refer to them - they stretch back several years. I use the search system in mail to locate the one I need, when I need it etc.
Recently I have noticed that mail is getting slow to download new messages. I have been watching the activity window and see that mail seems like it checks each message for flags/changes before downloading new mail.
I am running several Macs in several locations and need all my mail to be available on all machines - hence i se IMAP not POP3.
I am wondering if I can speed things up by moving and sorting the 45,000 messages in my inbox to folders etc. Yes? No?
Also, if I create folders, I assume that I should create these on Mobile Me (not 'on my mac')?
    Thanks for any advice!
Message was edited by: Nick Syrett

I think that sorting them out to folders on the server would help this.
In Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced what is your selection with regard to Keep copies of messages (and attachments) for Offline viewing?

  • Unity Connections 8.6.2a Single Inbox Problem

We have a Unity Connections Server version 8.6.2a talking to Exchange 2010 SP1.  We have verified Authenications, HTTPS, Certs etc.  If we run a test from the Edit Unified Messaging Screen, we get the following:
    Severity                               Issue                               Recommendation                               Details
The validation results for unified messaging service Exchange are the following:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               Service "Exchange": AuthenticationMode=[Basic] [use  HTTPS/validate] Server=[server.internaldomain.com] Type=[Exchange  2007/2010] Username=[domain\UnityUser]

The service port for calendaring is functioning.
The certificate verification results from SSL is X509_V_OK.

  • Unusual problem, my mail in inbox dissapears!

    Hi,
Just got an new Mac Mini. Imported everything automatically from my old G4 onto it. But....
My Mail Inbox is acting strange. ALL THE OTHE MAILBOXES ARE FINE, but the inbox shows I only have 91 messages when I used to have around 1000!!
On top of this, a random selction of messages in (and only in) the inbox don't display and instead show in italics something along the lines of "message cannot be displayed as it cannot be downloaded until account is taken online" or something along those lines.
The thing is, the account IS online and is working fine in all other aspecs. It is a POP3 account.
I have tried re-importing manually. No luck.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE? I NEED MY MAIL BACK!!!!
    Thanks

    Hi RedHavoc.
Not sure what makes you think this is an unusual problem. Actually, it's quite common. The conversion from Mail 1.x to Mail 2.x is broken. Take a look at the following thread to better understand the problem:
Help! "You need to take this account online in order to download it."
In particular, you may want to take a look at the following article (also referenced in that thread) to learn what you might have done before upgrading to minimize the risk of this happening, and what you may do after fixing the problem to avoid similar issues from happening in the future. DON'T do now what the article suggests, though, as that would make things worse in the current situation:
    Overstuffed mailbox is unexpectedly empty
More specifically, if this is a POP account, the following procedure should allow you to fix the Inbox problems:
    1. Quit Mail.
    2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to fix the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.
    3. Create a new folder on the Desktop and name it however you wish (e.g. Inbox Old). It doesn't need to have an .mbox extension.
    4. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/.
    5. Move the files mbox and Incoming_Mail out of INBOX.mbox, into the Inbox Old folder just created on the Desktop. These files contain all the messages that were in the mailbox before the upgrade to Tiger, and maybe even some messages that had been deleted. mbox is the most important. Incoming_Mail may or may not be present.
    6. Move any strangely-named Messages-XXXXXX folder to the Desktop (not into the Inbox Old folder). These folders are to be deleted after fixing the problem. They are temporary folders created during an import or an indexing process, and Mail should have deleted them when done. Their presence is a clear indication that something didn't work as expected. If you've been using Mail after the conversion and have already tried to fix the problem by rebuilding the mailbox or something like that, they might contain messages that are neither in Messages proper nor in the mbox file, so keep them around until the problem is fixed.
    7. Move everything else within INBOX.mbox, except the Messages folder, to the Trash.
The result of the above should be that INBOX.mbox contains the proper Messages folder only, and the Inbox Old folder on the Desktop contains the mbox and Incoming_Mail (if it exists) files only. Now, proceed as follows:
    8. Open Mail.
    9. The account's Inbox should properly display in Mail as many messages as *.emlx files are in ~/Library/Mail/POP-username@mailserver/INBOX.mbox/Messages/. If that's not the case, select the mailbox in Mail and do Mailbox > Rebuild.
    10. In Mail, do File > Import Mailboxes, choose Other as the data format, and follow the instructions to import the Inbox Old folder that's on the Desktop. Do with the imported mail whatever you wish. You may move to the account's Inbox the messages that Mail failed to convert properly, and delete those that did get through and, hence, are duplicates now.
The following collection of AppleScripts has a Remove Duplicates script that can be useful for removing duplicate messages:
    http://homepage.mac.com/aamann/Mail_Scripts.html
If all is well and you're not missing anything, the files on the Desktop can be deleted, although you may want to keep them for a while, just in case.
Ask for any clarifications or if you need further assistance.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user's home folder, i.e. ~/Library is the Library folder within the user's home folder.

  • Problem with mail after upgrading to tiger...

When I upgraded the OS in my PowerBook, all the mail messages in my in-box disappeared. Now, the only thing that shows up in each mail is the following, "The message from [Antonio john Doe <[email protected]>] concerning “Stuff” has not been downloaded from the server. 1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
    2. Make a backup copy of the ~/Library/Mail folder, just in case something goes wrong while trying to fix the problem. You can do this in the Finder by dragging the folder to the Desktop while holding the Option (Alt) key down, for example. This is where all your mail is stored.

  • Niggly problem with Hotmail - Sending from a third party email address

I need true push email on my BlackBerry, but also need access from a PC and need to send from my own email address. The easiest way I've found to do this is to forward all emails to my own address to a Hotmail address and use Hotmail as my main provider. Everything works as it should - I've got Windows Live Mail setup on my PC and all emails are sent to the BlackBerry the instant they're received. However, I've got a niggling problem with sending emails from the BlackBerry...
On the Hotmail website, I've set my own email address as the default "From" address and in Windows Live Mail, I've set my email address as my own address. So, if I send email from the Hotmail site or from Windows Live Mail, my own email address is used as the "From" address and not the Hotmail address. If I send email from the BlackBerry, it uses the Hotmail address as the "From" address and not my own address. I've set my own email address as the "Reply To" address in BlackBerry Internet Service but it still shows the Hotmail address. I can't see anyway to change this and it's the only problem I have...
I have tried the GoogleMail service, and this worked fine but every email I sent (either from Google Mail, Outlook or the BlackBerry) would copy itself to the BlackBerry and was getting a bit of a pain.
I have also tried Yahoo Mail but this wouldn't allow me to send email from another email address.
Any ideas from anyone? Either to allow emails sent from my BlackBerry to show my own email address as the "From" address, or to stop emails sent through Google Mail to copy themselves to the BlackBerry?

    Hi,
I've had this sent items in my inbox, problem with Gmail.  You can add a filter from the settings page of your gmail account.  The filter should be applied to all emails from your email address [[email protected]] and skip the Inbox should be selected.
Have you tested the "Reply to" option properly?  Send a mail from your BB to a friend and ask them to hit the reply  button, see which account it goes to.
