J2SE 5.0

Seems it's finally released. Happy coding!

Aren't the
[url=http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/relnotes/featu
es.html]release notes cool enough for that?
I'm sure they are. I just needed a little more
hand-holding than what the official documentation
offer.
I was thinking myself of getting one of those 1.5 books. Seems the one you're mentioning will be quite sufficient. O'Reilly stuff is always good.

  • Filename in J2SE Adapter with Variable Substitution

    Hello,
Within the J2EE receiver fileadapter (and ftp) from SP13 it is possible to compose the target filename and directory based on the payload of a message using variable substitution.
I wonder if it is also possible to use variable substitution with the J2SE fileadapter. For this it is not documented but i thougth that the same java libraries are used for the J2EE an J2SE file-adapters.
    Aybody??
    Really Nobody??
Message was edited by: Emile Hermans

    Hello,
the J2SE Adapter does not support variable subsition. Therefore we created our own class which gets called from the main SAP XI class "XMB2FileProcessor.class" wich is in the jar "aii_msg_adapter.jar". In your own class you can do what ever you need to chane the file name. In the configuration you can set your own parameter to search the payload for a string you want to replace. We also had to come up with our own timestamp, e.g. file2005-11-10 which SAP does not let you do, only the full timestamp is possible.
One other nice thing is that you can develop our JAVA class local and test it with your local J2SE Adapter Engine on you PC before you deploy it.
    Steps to do:
    1. JAD the SAP class
    2. Put a call in the SAP class
    3. Compile the class
    4. Put the class back in the archive
    5. Create your own class
    6. Create a jar file for it
    7. Put the jar file in the tech_adapter directory
    8. Change the run_adapter start cmd to include your jar file
It works great, the only issue is if you patch the J2SE engine you have to do step 1 to 4 again but that should it very easy to do.
    Cheers

  • J2SE Adapter Registration

I've tried to get an answer for this question long time ago, but no one ever answered.
How to register J2SE adapter with XI ?
I tried using SLDAccess service on J2SE adapter with no luck (with this J2SE Adapter Engine is registered in the SLD). My J2SE adapter was never available in the configuration means, in the communication channel ex: file adapter, for the adapter engine drop down all I have is Integration Server, my J2SE adapter was never listed there.
    thanks
    SKM

    Tony,
You do not need FTP server to use file adapter. I've installed and configured a J2SE Adapter Engine on my laptop.
I was able to use sender adapter but not the receiver adapter. I've followed all kinds of documentation, asked Qs in the forum but never got any feed back.
After you install plain J2SE AE on your laptop, you have to configure SLDAccess service. Once it is connected to SLD, you can see the adapter engine name in the XI technical systems.
Then you can configure FileAdapters by copying the existing one. Go through the Adapter documention in the installed directory.
    Hope this helps.

  • J2SE adapter PI 7.1 issue with XML to flat conversion and namespace length

    Dear reader,
We are facing an issue with J2SE Adapter PI7.1 for a number of flows.
    The flow requirements:
[1] Namespace length for interfaces is up to 100 characters
[2] The XML message must be converted to Flat on the adapter channel
Our PI system is at patch level 7 and we implement J2SE adapter on patch level 7 as well.
We found that the J2SE adapter on patch level 7 does not support long namespaces [1] (as it should since this is an PI 7.1 j2SE adapter) but no issues where found with the XML to flat conversion [2].
Experimenting with J2SE adapter on patch level 6 we found the long namespaces [1] are supported however an issue is found with the XML to flat conversion [2] as stated in SAP note 1335527.
An SAP Customer Message is raised on this issue however your input is highly appricated!
    With Kind Regards,

I think the restriction of namespace length still remains in design time (IR).....the same however has been extended in configuration and runtime...this SAP note has some information: https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/870809

  • How to go for Advance selction for source file in J2SE adapter

    Hi all,
I am doing a file to file scenario using J2SE adapter.I have to pick file from two different directory  we  can easily achieve it in J2EE adapter using advance selection of source file but how to proceed in case of J2SE plain adapter. Please guide me with your knowledge.
    Regards,
    saurabh

This is not possible. You need different adapters, but you can use the same interface and namespace, so there should be no issue.

  • Write mode :Add Time Stamp in J2SE Adapter

    Hi All,
We are using J2SE receiver adapter while converting Idoc to File and the file comes in the following format.
    <filename>20080310-104448-995.dat
But client wants it in more specific format.
    <filename>.D20080310.T104448.P00995.dat
    or
    <filename>-D20080310-T104448-P00995.dat
I have got no  idea on this. So , if any one of you is aware, request you to let me know......
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I think you need to assign it dynamically as you cannot change the format for Add TimeStamp

    Hi,
AFAIK, builer package shoud be under WEB-INF\classes directory or the context. It is under that direcory.
As far as adding the package to system classpath or Tomcat classpath, I dont want to do that as it would contaminate the classpath of other applications/contexts.
The applications server is supposed to automatically add WEB-INF\classes into the classpath of the context. And its working for other context.
There has to be other solution.

  • How to secure a J2SE Web Service

    Hi,
I have created a J2SE Web Service using JAX-WS and I now wish to secure it but I can't seem to work out how to do it in an automated manner.
I have used the simple Java-First method, writing an annotated java class and then running wsgen to generate the WSDL and required artifacts.
WSIT seems to be the solution, placing a WSIT config file in a META-INF directory on the classpath. However, in the examples that I have there seems to be a huge amount of overlap between the WSDL and the WSIT config file. Moreover, the content of the WSIT config seems to be dependent on the contents of the WSDL. This means that should I update the implementation class I would have to manually update the WSIT config (unlike the WSDL which would be autogenerated from the Java class).
Ideally I would like to create two files:
    - myserviceImpl.java
    - wsit-config.xml (using the correct naming convention)
Then run WSGEN and, hey presto, a full WSDL is generated complete ith security policy information. However, it seems that this is not the way it works.
I'd be grateful for any advice you can give on how to automate this process. My current idea is to generate the WSDL and then use an XSLT step in the build process to drag the WSIT config into the WSDL.
I'd also be interested in hearing how other people have created secure J2SE web services.
I am using Eclipse (not NetBeans) and Maven.
    Thanks

I am using Eclipse (not NetBeans) and Maven.I hate doing this, but have you tried Netbeans? Metro has really tight integration with it and pretty much can do what you want. However, making a programmer change IDE is like suggesting someone to try another religion.

  • J2SE 1.4.2 on RedHat Linux 7.3

    Hi ,
I have to install J2SE 1.4.2_04 on a RedHat Linux 7.3 system on intel hardware. Is the download available at Sun.com can be run on this machine. My concern is that is the download is for NPTL implementation only or it will run on any thread implementations.
    Thanks in advance

    I've done it, was good.

  • Need advice about certification: do J2SE 1.4 or wait for 1.5 to go out?

I need advice here! I am studing for Java Programmer certification (310-035) and I know now that the certification does not have any expiration date, instead it's version based. So, if I get now a J2SE 1.4 certification, soon it will be outdated... I guess!
Does anyone know or have any ideia of WHEN java 1.5 sdk will be avaliable, and anyone can tell me how long it will take for a new 1.5 programmer certification be avaliable for general public?

Do both. 1.5 is far enough away that you do not want to wait for it.
And besides, 1.5 has enough new stuff in it that you'll want to recertify anyway.

  • Error message downloading j2se 1.5.0 on windows XP home edition (SP2)

    Hello:
I am getting the following error message attempting to install the j2se 5.0 on my windows XP home edition (SP2):
    "Error JavaTM installer
The installer cannot continue because the files necessary for installation are unavailable. If trying to install a beta or older version please check http://java.sun.com/j2se to determine if it is still supported. If so please try installing at a later time as these file might be only temporarily unavailable."
    There is a bug report:
    Bug ID: 6237992
Tested Bundle: 5.0u2_b09 JDK iftw on staging site
    http://webwork.sfbay/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
    Tested O/S: XP-Home (sp2)
    Problem:
The installer throws error messages. I tried on three different
XP-Home (sp2) machines in our lab. It throws error message the very first or second time and after that, it seems to work fine.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1) On XP-Home(sp2) machine, try to download and install the JDK iftw bundle from
    http://webwork.sfbay/j2se/1.5.0/download.jsp
    2) During the installation the first or second time, one of the following messages thrown:
    A) "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and than you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package"
    B) Error - Java Installer
"This installer cannot continue because the files necessary for installation are unavailable. If trying to install a beta or older version, please check http://java.sun.com/j2se to determine if it is still supported. If so, please try installing at a later time, as these files might be only temporary unavailable"
This problem seems to occur on XP-Home(sp2). When error message pops up, keep trying it, it 's eventually OK. It may confuse consumers at the first two times.
    xxxxx@xxxxx 2005-03-09 05:11:47 GMT"
I have tried the downloading five times to no avail, both by double clicking, and using the windows run utility. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

I am getting the same error when opening the J2se Development Kit 5.0 Update 8 after I press the Run button. ( "This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and than you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package").
    Is there a solution ?
    Thanks,

  • How do I find whatever a "J2SE Installation" is?

The raptor script (on Fedora Core 4 Linux) asks me to "Type the full pathname of a J2SE installation". I have searched for anything beginning with J2SE or j2se and come up empty.
I have also installed the Sun JDK and provided the path to tht installation, to which the script replies "Error: Java home /usr/java/jdk1.5.0_06/jre/bin/java is not a J2SE SDK.
Running Oracle Raptor 1.0 under a JRE is not supported."
I have Enterprise 10gR2 installed on this host.
How do I locate this "J2SE Installaion", and if its not installed, where do I get it?
    Thanks

  • How to use j2se 1.4 logging features with j2ee 1.3

    Hi,
We have developed an EJB that will run in the j2ee 1.3 container of weblogic 5.0
We would like to use the logging features of j2se 1.4 in our ejb.
    Can this be done ?
    How do I install and use j2se 1.4 a long side of j2ee 1.3 ?
Is this a recognised configuration ?
    Many Thanks,
    Mark.

Is it possible to install j2se 1.4 on the same machine
that is running weblogic with j2ee 1.3 ? Yes.
If it is.... How do we do it ?Just install it in different directory - the installer will do this for you by default anyway.
How do we protect our code running in the j2ee 1.3 container from
mistakenly using the classes provided with j2se 1.4 ?Thats what PATH and CLASSPATH environment variables are for. Read the tutorials on the left there for more information.
Do we end up with 2 separate VMs one a implementing
j2ee 1.3 and one a j2se 1.4 ?You end up with as many as you run.
Every time you run java (java.exe on windows, just plain java on UNIX) you run the version of the VM that's on your PATH.
It's quite normal to have (on the same machine) a 1.3 VM running Weblogic and a number of 1.4 VM's as clients of that Weblogic installation.
I think I'm right in saying that 1.4 VM's are (in some cases) regarded by BEA as supported clients of a Weblogic server running in a 1.3 VM, but you'd have to check their e-docs site for exact details.
