Java 1.5 fails to install (Adware.SystemProcess)
This is a repost from another forum. I mistakenly posted there earlier, however this forum seems more appropriate.
When trying to install Java 1.5, an error message appears at the end of the install process that says "Java virtual machine failed to initialize". The installer continues and Java 1.5 appears in the control panel. However, when trying load a web application that requires Java 1.5, the browser (IE in this case) reports that 1.5 is not installed and the installer kicks off again. The installer attempts to run, but then reports that 1.5 is already installed. This cycle repeats in an infinite loop. You can manually uninstall Java 1.5, but when you reinstall it you still get "Java virtual machine failed to initialize" and the same installer loop.
You can install Java 1.6, but when you attempt to load the web application you get a out of memory heap message. Attempting to use the -Xmx or -Xms parameters causes said application to crash with a "Java virtual machine failed to load" error. The application loads fine on other machines.
The system in question had an "Adware.SystemProcess" (as determined by Symantec Antivirus) infection that was successfully cleaned. System Restore is not an option (low disk space.)
Anyone have any idea how to fix this without reinstalling Windows?
Nevermind - I found it - it was a different installer - J2SE 5.0

the database is up and running, the Oracle Listener is also working well.
Any idea??
Thanks so much in advance!
Best Regards,
GerdHi Sunny, hi Markus!
many thanks for your hints!
I've just solved the problem. The problem was, our Listener was not configured correctly.
I've adjusted the listener.ora, tnsnames.ora to the correct hostname - cause, we had a hostname-switch last month and I had forgotten to adapt the Listener...
now the Listener is running as well:

Weblogic Server 6.1 trial version fails to install in Linux
Weblogic Server 6.1 trial version fails to install in Linux
(in Linux Redhat 6.2, jdk 1.2.2)
1. When unzipping the *.zip file "weblogic610_generic.zip", the unzip program
reported that some files and directories not properly named. (using winzip, quite
a number of files' directories start "d:/".
2. During installation, the screen hanged right after choosing language, and the
background threw "Exception in thread 'main'".Yes, that is exactly what I ran and it worked.
Kernel: 2.2.12-20
java -fullversion
java full version "Linux_JDK_1.2.2_RC4"
That was to install.

Hello,
Could you give the detailed steps when you unzip and run? Did you only
use the command "java -cp weblogic610_generic.zip install -i console" andit
worked fine? Your system's basic setting like java version and kernal etc?
Thanks.

Run the following to install it:
java -cp weblogic610_generic.zip install -i console
That will provide a console based install.

Palm Desktop 4.0 for Mac Fails to Install
I just downloaded Palm Desktop for Mac 4.0 -- actually file name is MacDesktop_40_TV.sit -- but it fails to install. Double clicking on the *.sit file creates a program file named Palm Desktop Installer with a creation date of Sep 17, 2002. When I run the installer, the process aborts at file 749 of 791 (file UPD107). Retrying gives the same result.
Have others had the same problem? Is it a problem with the *.sit expansion process? Is the installer or the Desktop program incompatible with OS X 10.4.11? Note: I did try to establish a Chat Support Session with Palm tech support, but it asked me to download/install a Java RE plugin, and clicking that download button never started the download, and searching for the plugin on the Palm website came up with nothing....
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
BTW, I have an ancient Handspring Visor Edge (Palm OS 3.5.2H2.0) that I've been syncing with Palm Desktop running on Windows XP under Parallels. I'm hoping I can get my data into the Mac environment so I can eventually transfer my data to a new iPod touch. Any additional advice you might have on that process would be welcome.
Post relates to: Visor Edge
Post relates to: Visor EdgeI had an identical experience when I first got my handheld - the palm software wouldn't install on my iMac properly - the same error came up every time, and while it had successfully installed the desktop, hotsync manager was sadly missing. I spent hours playing with it to no avail, and the only solution I found was using it on my macbook running 10.5x (as opposed to 10.2.8). However, the date on the installer (2002) reflects the last time it was updated, which means that it should run with no difficulty on any machine since then. The .sit compression has nothing to do with it - it is one of the most common compression formats for the macintosh platform. It might help if you posted the exact error message you got, but a fairly common fix is to repair disk permissions for your hard drive in disk utility.
Hope this helps

http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5066286&tstart=0The StarOffice patches are most likely being recommended as there are one or more SUNWstaroffice packages installed on the system, but the patch installation cannot complete due to an incomplete installation of StarOffice. Check for any installed StarOffice packages and remove them if present:

Note:
Before installing this sjsas, i tried to uninstall it manualy by deleting directory /opt/SUNWappserver, i also tried to remove registry file in /var/tmp but it won't work.
Is anybody here have the solutions for this problem ?
Best regards
-Lorenz-Root cause of this problem is usually insufficient swap space on the system - so before starting next installation make sure that you clean up your /tmp partition and shutdown any processes you don't need. If that doesn't resolve the issue you might need to increase the amount of swap space.
You also need to cleanup /var/tmp/productregistry and installation directory as you noted. -

Failed to install a local copy of ias60.jar
Hello,
could anybody help me with this problem.
We have installed under Solaris: iPlanet Webserver6.0, Directory Server5.1 and Application Server6.5. In the console it is not possible to select iPlanet Application Server. Message: Class Loader Error:Failed to install a local copy of ias60.jar or one of its supporting files.
What can I do?
Thanks JuergenHi,
I'm not sure what console means, I assume it's the iAS registry tool, kregedit. Are you getting this error at the terminal windows ?
Normally, ias60.jar would be located in <ias-install root>/ias/java/jars/ias60.jar and <ias-install root>/java/jars/ias60.jar. Check in these two directories, also review the path settings in the iasenv.ksh file under <ias-install root>/ias/env. Please let me know if this helps.

Software updates fail to install so does office for mac 2011
When I check for software updates it says I have 5:
MacBook Pro EFI Firware Update v 2.3
Itunes v 10.5.1
Digital Camera Raw Compatability Update v 3.9
Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 6 v 6.0
MacBook Pro SMC Firware Update v 1.5
When I try to install these items it seems to work fine. It downloads them and prompts me to restart. But when I do, it fails to install any of them ( I have also tried them all one at a time to make sure it's not just one of them messing it up). Then my computer freezes.
ANY HELP PLEASE??
Also.. I recently downloaded Microsoft for Mac Home and Student 2011. This downloads fine but when i try to install it gets to the end and says that it encountered a problem. Things I've found online and support from both microsoft and apple have told me do not work. I created another account and tried to open office from my share drive--NOPE. I disabled my antivirus--NOPE. I rebooted in safe mode--NOPE. i fixed my permissions--NOPE. I downloaded the trail version which is supposed to be "error free"--NOPE
ANY HELP PLEASE??
Thank youThe EFI update should be installed all by itself.
The directions are a bit wacky, and what happens is a bit wacky. If you get that one in, the rest may unclog. -

Novell Client 2 upgrade fails to install NICI (error 1603)
I have configured the automatic update agent to specifically use Administrator Privileges according to the documentation: http://www.novell.com/documentation/...ient_admin.pdf
When I run the update from "Novell Services" in system tray as a normal user the update completes with errors: fails to install NICI (error 1603).
When I do the exact same thing as an admin, everything works fine.
I'm am trying to update Novell Client 2 SP 1 (IR7) to Novell Client 2 SP 2 (IR2) on all of our workstations.
And I am seeing the exact same error when trying to upgrade:
Novell Client 2 SP 1 (IR7) to Novell Client 2 SP 2
Novell Client 2 SP 1 (IR7) to Novell Client 2 SP 2 (IR1)
What is going on here, is the update agent broken or am I doing something wrong?
I don't want all of my users getting errors when their Novell Client gets updated.Originally Posted by jimbjorklund
I think I'm getting closer to the actual issue, after enabling Novell Client Debugging by setting this registry value:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Novell\Authentication\ NCCredProvider]
"Debug"=dword:00000003
This error is found in "C:\ProgramData\Novell\Client\Log\NICIInst64.l og": Error 2103.Could not resolve path for shell folder 26
I think this has something to do with the MSI-setup (NICI_wx64.msi) not being able to find certain keys in the registry for some reason
Recently we had problem with an MSI-based Java-installation running with admin-privileges where it would fail if "Folder Redirection" was enabled. We had set My Documents to point to H:\ which was mapped via Novell as the home folder.
the registry settings for that are found under: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]. This however is NOT the problem here so the root cause for the error is still unclear to me.
Indeed, but remember we are troubleshooting the client here- it may be possible that there was some corruption in the first failed update. So thus removing any components and with a clean install of the Novell client, to try the update process again to ascertain were exactly the process may have failed by examining any logs and/or dumps.

In a Mainstage concert, the 32-bit bridge keeps opening, but I can't figure out which PI's are triggering it. I've eliminated the one easy possibility (NI's Electric Piano) and any instance of Waves PI's. Otherwise, I'm using Omnisphere, Kontakt and
