Java 7 (oracle jdk 1.7) on CentOS 6.2 freezes hangs FUTEX_WAIT

Hello,
Recently have had problems with Java 1.7 this combination:
CentOS 6.2
linux kernel 2.6.32.57 (vanilla kernel)
GRSecurity grsecurity-2.9-2.6.32.57-201202232125.patch
When trying to run jdk1.7.0_04, java hangs with no error messages in /var/log/messages and cannot be killed leaving CPU at 100% forever, OS unable to shutdown. Only solution is to pull the power plug!

When I boot with the CentOS 6.2 kernel, java 1.7 runs fine.
This same instance runs jdk 1.6 and jrockit 1.6 just fine

There is no official statement of certification for Java 8. We do support it, however, our stress testing is focused primary on Java 7.

Installing Oracle JDK 7 on Solaris Server

Hello Experts,
I would like to install Oracle JDK 7 on my server. It currently has JDK 6 installed. I would appreciate any pointers that you could provide.

I am running SunOS 5.11. I assume this is Solaris 11. The command uname -a returns: SunOS [omitted] 5.11 [omitted] i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris
My steps so far
My limited progress so far is simply downloading the JDK 7 tar.gz file and extracting in the appropriate location. This is as far as I have gotten.
My Goal
Ultimately, I would like to get several Java Frameworks running including Spring and Hibernate so I can run Java Web Applications.
My Question
So finally, I believe I understand that I should not replace Java 6 with Java 7. I simply have them in separate directories. Currently I have them in "/opt/local/etc/java/sun6/" and "/opt/local/etc/java/sun7/".
For the Web Server, I have chosen Glassfish open community edition. Are there any configuration files that I need to update to reflect the new Java 7 JDK? Please excuse my ignorance. I would say right now I need insight and to be pointed in the right direction. Not so much of instructional how tos...

Update: I was able to get it working. I didnt (and still do not) understand what would happen if installing a second JDK. Specifically I was concerned about implications of any other software that was dependent on Java6. I simply added JDK7 to the PATH variable. Then checking the version using "which java" returns Java7. All seems to be well. I am trying my best to prevent issues that I cannot foresee due to lack of experience in Linux.

Simple Java Oracle Interaction

I am completely new to using Java to access Oracle. I have a very simple project and everything I can find on Java/Oracle interaction seems much more complex than my needs.
Simply put, I need to query my DB (oracle10g) and gather the results into a JTable. That is it. What would be very useful is something like Sun provides with their API Specifications, but for the Oracle commands I would need to implement this. Can anyone point me in the right direction??
Finally, in order to access and oracle DB from Java, must I be developing in J2EE, or will regular old Java do the trick??

If you downloaded the entire JDK (from SUN), it contains some sample code on how to connect a "JTable" to a database. Look in the "demo\jfc\TableExample" subdirectory (of your JDK installation).
Oracle provides lots of sample code, as well. Have you looked at the JDBC page of the OTN Web site?
No, you don't need to use J2EE.

Java 6 JDK For MBP 2012 ML?

Hi. I want to pursue Java programming, but I need the JDK (java deveopment kit) for Java 6 for Mac... I went to Oracle's site and they have a ton of different downloads. There is an FAQ for mac users but they provide no information what so ever for downloading the correct JDK... Does anyone know where to get the java 6 JDK for mac ml?
Much less important, and just a side question, does anybody know if the LWJGL- lightweight java game library (for Java computer games) from lwjgl.org is a safe thing to download? I need it to fix an audio issue with a game.

Sounds like you have a lot to learn here and I'm probably not the right person to be giving you advice since I've never even been close to doing anything beyond using Java. I do know enough to be dangerous, but limited mostly to it's vulnerability these days and most of how it interfaces with OS X, but there's still a lot of holes in my knowledge base, especially these days.
My impression was that you planned on doing Java 6 development since you were asking about obtaining it's JDK. I couldn't help but wonder why you wanted to start there, but figured you had a reason. Java 6 is all but obsolete now and although there is still a bunch of code that requires it, I don't see any point in developing anything new there.
But to try and answer your last set of questions....

Yes, but if you are going to use it for development you will need to get the JDK from Oracle, not the JRE from java.com. Go to Java SE Downloads and under "Java Platform, Standard Edition" use the download button under "JDK".
Whenever I go to terminal it says 1.6.0_41, that is due to the fact that there is technically 'two' java's on a mac, correct?
The Terminal process "java" only knows about one set of Java code and for now that is Apple's because it knows where Apple stores Java SE 6. I am told that once you install JDK 7 then it comes with a new "java" process which only knows where Oracle stores Java SE 7, so it will start reporting only 1.7.0_xx.
It's not unusual for there to be more than one Java installed. For years there have always been two to three versions at the same time. You controlled which ones were enabled by using the Java Preferences app. It usually wasn't a problem to have more than one enabled as the software application would look for the one it needed and only use it. There is no more Java Preferences and the Java Control Panel only controls Java 7, so there seems to be no way to enable or disable Java 6 when it is installed. Apple says it's not required, so maybe it isn't important.
we have realized that there are two versions: the one that terminal tells you about, which I have. and the one that is either in 'system prefs' or the ultility 'java prefs', which I do not have.
The other (Oracle's Java 7) is only controlled using the Java Control Panel which can be accessed from System Preferences->Java and you apparently don't have it yet.

That's not at all important. Both have many vulnerabilities, just not exactly the same ones.
I suppose Oracle's version and Apple's version just use the same numbering which confuses me/other people.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion. I thought I had been pretty clear that Apple provided Java SE 6 1.6.0_41 and below and Oracle now provides OS X users with Java SE 7 1.7.0_xx and above.
Lastly, when you install the Oracle Java SE 7 JDK, your browser plug-in will be changed to Java 7. I've probably already said this, but unless you need to use Java with your browser you should only enable it when you must visit a trusted site and only while you are there. Because it doesn't permit (700) other user than root to use java, I need to doing chmod 755 manually for all those listed path. Is it just me, or someone else meet this problem?
700 permission give a problem when I run package like pycharm as non-root, because it can't read those directories.

You've messed up all your filesystem permissions, by using NTFS.
The sensible fix is to reinstall your distro.
Edit: Might not have to be so drastic - what dirs were backed up and restored from NTFS?

Following scenario:
in pl/sql we have an object type called MULTI_LANGUAGE. This type is used for storing multilingual texts as nested table in one(!) column.
So the object MULTI_LANGUAGE contains a member variable LANGUAGE_COLLECTION of type LANGUAGE_TABLE, which itself is a nested table of objects
of the type LANGUAGE_FIELD (this again is only a language id and the corresponding content)
Also the methods setContent(langID, langContent) and getContent(langId) are defined on Object MULTI_LANGUAGE.
For example: Table having primary key, 2 other columns and one column of object type MULTI_LANGAGE (=nested table of objects)

Thanks for your suggestion, but it seems to me as if there is one level missing.
in pl/sql I have following structure:
Struct MULTI_LANGUAGE (Object type) - outermost
Array LANGUAGE_TABLE (nested table type)
    Struct LANGUAGE_FIELD (Object type simple) - innermostthe reason why i had to wrap another struct around the array was because it is not possible to define methods on a nested table. this is only possible on objects.
on the outermost object type (which holds the array of language fields) I needed to define following 2 methods for direct access:
getContent (langId in number) returns varchar2
setContent (langId in number, langContent in varchar2)
I would like to rebuild the same structure in java, because newly written java code should live in perfect harmony with legacy pl/sql code ;-)
Both applications (Java and pl/sql) have to access the same data as long as migration to java goes on.
Is this nested structure too much for a Domain?
Any other suggestions?

Are you running the command as applmgr user and after sourcing the application env file?

Installing Java SE JDK on top of JRE?

Hi List,
this is my first post here and I just have a somewhat general question about best
software installation practices. I want to install the Java SE JDK on my Windows
x86 system and already have the JRE 7 on it.
Now there are two choices I see myself having:
1. deinstall JRE 7 and install a freshly downloaded JDK 7, which includes the JRE.
or
2. simply install JDK 7 over JRE 7.
Are there any differences? Maybe it doesn't even matter how I do it, but this is
something I don't know?

This is basics of the basics of windows usage you're asking about. If you want to be lazy just install, if you want to be safe uninstall and then install. Either way, it all depends on how you've treated your software installation what the end result is going to be. If you have a clean system either way will work just fine.

CentOS is not certified as a database/application tier node.
You can find the packages from the Media Pack (Download it from e-Delivery website), or just search Google (below is an example):
