Javadoc tag within method body

I'm not sure if this can be done, or if it makes sense, but can I define a javadoc tag that I can place within a method body? I want to use this for documenting my junit tests as follows...
* This method tests TestClass::methodA for
* a variety of input parameters.
public void testMethodA()
  try
    * @testCaseName Test passing a null pointer
    testClassInstance.methodA(null);
    * @testCaseName Test passing Integer.MAX_VALUE
    testClassInstance.methodA(Integer.MAX_VALUE);
    * @testCaseName Test passing Integer.MINIMUM_VALUE
    testClassInstance.methodA(Integer.MINIMUM_VALUE);
  catch (Exception e)
    fail();

because they want to Javadoc it! Well, thanks to Yogee's link, you can see you can't...
A doc comment is written in HTML and must precede a class, field, constructor or method declaration. It is made up of two parts -- a description followed by block tags. In this example, the block tags are @param, @return, and @see. So use comments....

    Hi!
    I have been working on this simple Java 1.3.1 program for three days now and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. If anyone has done the "Building an Application" tutorial in the New to Java Programming Center, you might recognize the code. I am trying to set up a frame with panels first using the BorderLayout and then the FlowLayout within each section of the BorderLayout. It will have textfields and checkboxes. I am working on the code to retrieve the user input from the text boxes and also to determine which checkbox the user has checked. Here is my code: (ignore my irrelivent comments!)
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;

    //Purchase tab of the tabbed pane of the MPGLog.java program. The way it gathers the text
    //depends on the current processing state, which it retrieves on its own. It saves the text to
    //a text file called textinput.txt.

  • Custom tag with no body

    The method in your tag handler that is processing your tag (doStartTag()?
              doAfterBody()? doEndTag()?), should return SKIP_BODY if you don't want the
              tag handler to process the body. In your example it doesn't have a body
              anyway, so I guess you should still return SKIP_BODY.
              Hope this helps,

  • How to creat javadoc with userdefine methods

    hi
    how to creat javadocs with user define class && methods ....
    we did like that
    javadocs filename..
    we are not geting my oun methods..
    pls help me
    regards
    kedar

    Hi,
    javadoc creates documentation for packages, not for single files - and you have to comment out every class, method, fields in a special form using javadoc tags - an example
    package MyPackage;
    import java.util.Vector;
    * This class is only an example, how to create javadocs for a package.
    public class MyClass extends Object {
    * an example for a public field holding a Vector
    public Vector aVector = new Vector(3,3);
    * Constructs a MyClass instance.
    public MyClass() { super(); }
    * Constructs a MyClass instance using the passed Vector in the {@link aVector} field.
    * @param vec a Vector, that replaces the Vector in field {@link aVector}
    public MyClass(Vector vec) { super(); aVector = vec; }
    * gets the Vector in field {@link aVector}.
    * @return a Vector, held in field {@link aVector}
    public Vector getVector() { return aVector; }
    }// end of classNow you can create your javadoc from the classpath with "javadoc MyPackage"
    hope, this helps
    greetings Marsian

  • Creating javadoc tags

    Hi all,
    I need to create a new javadoc tag. (I'm using Javadoc 1.3)
    Do you guys know of any good tutorial? I tried Sun's javadoc tool documentation, but it doesn't show a clear example of how to create a new tag, instead, it just tells us to modify the standard doclet, but doesn't say where.

    You need to make the chages to HtmlStandardWriter and MethodSubWriter. You will probable also need to add an entry to the properties file. Here is the code for a new '@xml' tag I added. I also added a '@mapping' and '@refs' tag.
    //from HtmlStandardWriter
        public void printXmlTags(Doc doc) {
            Tag[] mappings = doc.tags("xml");
            if (mappings.length > 0) {
                dt();
                boldText("doclet.Xml");
                //bold("Mapping:");
                dd();
                printCommentTags(mappings,false,false);
                ddEnd();
    //from MethodSubWriter
        protected void printTags(ProgramElementDoc member) {
            MethodDoc method = (MethodDoc)member;
            ParamTag[] params = method.paramTags();
            Tag[] returns = method.tags("return");
            Tag[] sinces = method.tags("since");
            Tag[] mappings = method.tags("mapping");
            Tag[] refs = method.tags("refs");
            Tag[] xmls = method.tags("xml");
            ThrowsTag[] thrown = method.throwsTags();
            SeeTag[] sees = method.seeTags();
            ClassDoc[] intfacs = member.containingClass().interfaces();
            ClassDoc overridden = method.overriddenClass();
            if (intfacs.length > 0 || overridden != null) {
                printTagsInfoHeader();
                printImplementsInfo(method);
                printOverridden(overridden, method);
                printTagsInfoFooter();
            if (params.length + returns.length + thrown.length + sinces.length
                 + sees.length + mappings.length + refs.length + xmls.length> 0) {
                printTagsInfoHeader();
                writer.printRefTags(method);
                writer.printMappingTags(method);
                printParamTags(params);
                writer.printXmlTags(method);
                printReturnTag(returns);

  • None editable Div tag within a editable Div tag template

    I am using a template i created to build a website and the only editable Div is the 'Content'. Using this template i have created a 2nd template for a portfolio page. On my 2nd template i have a Div tag within the 'Content' Div tag with list of all the jobs i have  done with hyperlinked to photos. I want this list to be only editable on  the template so when i update the 2nd template rest of the files related to  this template get updated.
    Is it possible to have a none editable Div tag within an editable Div tag?
    I hope i have explained this well. Many thanks for your help

    Thank you for your respond.
    I have a main template with just the 'Content' Div Tag editable. Using this template i created anyother template for my portfolio page. Inside the editable Div Tag i have another Div Tag with 2 sets of tables for my portfolio lists. I want this Div tag to be only editable through the 2nd template only as i will have portfolio lists of over 30 pages/links.
    I selected the Div Tag with the 2 set of tables and selected 'Add Object to Library'. First message was that the CSS coding will not be copied but errors messages as follows;
    'While executing canInspectSelectio in phatfusion slideShow_FAB75CA2.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.'
    'While executing canInspectSelectio in Ken Burns Slideshow.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.'
    'While executing canInspectSelectio in Shadowbox3b Gallery_2528933A.htm, a JavaScript error occurred.'
    Everytime i click inside the Div Tag, i keep getting these messages.
    I went to the library and amended the list but only the 2nd template changed, not the related pages linked to the 2nd template.
    Is there a place where i can upload my page in this website so you can see it?
    Please see below the coding for the 2nd template for my portfolio pages;

    In Yosemite Mail, there is an issue where the signatures no longer toggle as in the past. If you change the existing signature, it just adds the new one vs replacing it within the body of the message. Thoughts?

    Hi howe.sc,
    When I checked for how signatures in Yosemite work, I found this.
    Mail (Yosemite): Include signatures in messages
    Delete a signature from a message: Select the signature, then press the Delete key.
    Replace a signature in a message: Delete the existing signature, then add a different signature.
    That sounds similar to what you are describing.
    Take care,
    Nubz

  • Error message  "missing method body, or declare abstract"

    This is my test driver. Does anyone know why it is not working?
    public class TestInfo
       public static void main(String args[])
              Info results = new Info();
              printInfo();
         public static String printInfo();
              System.out.println(" The Diameter is: " + results.diam
              + " The Circumference is: " + results.circum
              + " The Area is: " + results.area);
    }The error message I get is: missing method body, or declare abstract
    The print block has to be a separate method. The print block works when I put it in main. When it is in a separate method and I call it in main it doesn't work

    You have an extraneous semi-colon after printInfo. This tells the compiler that that's all there is for that method, which only makes sense if it's an abstract method. It sees the block after the semicolon, but it thinks it's an initializer. So it wants you to either declare it abstract, or give it a method body.
    Just remove that semicolon and you're fine.

  • Java.lang.RuntimeException: Uncompilable source code - missing method body

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error at runtime
    java.lang.RuntimeException: Uncompilable source code - missing method body, or declare abstractwhen I try to instantiate a class using reflexion as following:
    MyInstance = MyClass.newInstance(); I have tried to find some explanation using Google, but could not find any that fit my case. MyClass's implementation has a public constructor with no parameter. There is no error at compile time when cleaning and building all code.
    Anyone has tips about what could cause this error?
    Thanks.

    It is not my code originally... You are making far too many unchecked assumptions about the reality of this situation to even get close to what that reality it is... Get over patronizing, it would improve your social/people skills... Thanks !It is your own problem that you perceive something as patronizing, while in fact it was only an honest and straight to the point attempt to help you. This forum does not deal in sensitivity, it gets in the way of helping people to see the error of their ways.

  • Missing method body

    class Board
        public static void main(String[] args)
            Board example = new Board();
        private Board();
            char array[][];
            array = new char[3][3];
            for (int i = 0; i < 3; i++)
                for (int j = 0; j < 3; j++)
                    array[i][j] = '.';
                    System.out.println(array[i][j]);
    }compiler says missing method body, but i can't think where the error is? private Board has to be a constructor.

    Are you using a text editor or an IDE? If you are already fairly familiar with the Java programming language and the java/javac and you understand how classpath works, then you might consider to step over from the text editor to an IDE, such as Eclipse. It will save time and effort in developing. I tried to reproduce your problem in Eclipse and it clearly understrikes the "Board();" part during typing and says "This method requires a body instead of a semicolon" which makes much more sense.

  • Missing method body and cannot resolve symbol

    I keep getting these two errors when trying to compile. I know that I need to call my fibonacci and factorial functions from the main function. Is this why I am getting the missing method body error? How do I correct this?
    Am I getting the cannot resolve symbol because I have to set the num and fact to equal something?
    Thanks
    public class Firstassignment
    public static void main(String[]args)
         System.out.println();
    public static void fibonacci(String[]args);
         int even=1;
         int odd=1;
         while (odd<=100);
         System.out.println(even);
         int temp = even;
         even = odd;
         odd = odd + temp;
    public static void factorial (String[]args);
         for (int count=1;
         count<=num;
         count++);
         fact = fact * count;
         outputbox.printLine("Factorial of" + num + "is" + fact);

    Hey... :o)
    the problem is that you've put semicolons at the end of the function signature, like this:
    public static void fibonacci(String[]args);
    }that should happen only when the function is abstract... so ur function should actually look like this:
    public static void fibonacci(String[]args)
    }also, i think you've missed out on the declarations (like what are fact and num??)....

  • Missing method body or declare abstract...

    Hi There,
    Im working on an assignment that works with the math class and performs a bunch of mathematical functions. Im trying to declare the different fields in the math class and I keep getting error messages!!
    This is what I have right now
    public class Math
        // Returns the absolute value of a double value.
        double abs(double a);
        // Returns the absolute value of a int value.
        int abs(int a);
        //Returns the greater of two double values.
        double max(double a, double b);
        //Returns the greater of two int values.
        int max(int a, int b);
        // Returns the lesser of two double values.
        double min(double a, double b);
        // Returns the lesser of two double values.
        int min( int a, int b);
        // Returns the value of the first argument raised to the power of
        // the second argument.

        // Returns the sum of all the elements in an array of doubles.

        private double [] doubleArray = {5.25, 10.00, 14.50, 21.90};
        }When I try and compile it tells me that Im missing method body or declare abstract.
    I originally had this
       // Returns the absolute value of a double value.
        double abs;
        // Returns the absolute value of a int value.
        int abs;
        //Returns the greater of two double values.

    Im so lost... can anybody hep????

  • How can I nest tag within each other

    Hello,
    I am trying to nest a tag within another tag as follows:
    <h:selectitem itemValue="<fmt:formatDate value="${d}" pattern="yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss" type="both"/>" itemLabel="Today"/>d is a java.util.Date variable.
    Tomcat won't accept that. What am I getting wrong?
    Thanks in advance,
    Julien.

    I don't think taglibs could be other's attribute value.
    Try using attributes:
    <fmt:formatDate value="${d}" pattern="yyyy-MM-dd hh:mm:ss" type="both" var="anyDate"/>
    <!-- Is a custom tag lib? Use pageContext.findAttribute("anyDate"); -->
    <h:selectitem itemValue="anyDate" itemLabel="Today"/>
    <!-- Does your container accept EL? (Tomcat 5 does) -->
    <h:selectitem itemValue="@{anyDate}" itemLabel="Today"/>
