Javax.naming.LinkRef fails

Weblogic JNDI does not appear to handle LinkRef's properly. THe following snippet illustrates://create Sun RMI Registry on//non-standard portjava.rmi.registry.Registry reg = java.rmi.registry.LocateRegistry.createRegistry(10099);//get WL init context //using WLInitialContextFactoryContext cxt = new InitialContext();//bind a link to Sun Registry in //the WL JNDI initial contextcxt.rebind( "MyRegistry", new javax.naming.LinkRef( "rmi://localhost:10099") );Object ref; //this lookup returns //com.sun.jndi.rmi.registry.RegistryContext//as expectedref = cxt.lookup( "rmi://localhost:10099");System.out.println( ref.getClass().getName() ); //this lookup however, fails with //javax.naming.NameNotFoundException ref = cxt.lookup("MyRegistry");System.out.println( ref.getClass().getName() );Note that this same code works perfectly in JBoss if you simply set the appropriate environment for the InitialContext().Any help would be appreciated. Thanks !John

The Database connection pool must be managed by a container (a servlet or application server) like tomcat.
That is not entirely true but it certainly helps and is generally the only way it is used anyway so one might as well do it.

• Javax.naming.LinkException Please Help

Hello All,
I am trying my first bean on Weblogic 7 and can't seem to get the deployment descriptor correct. The home
interface is, ObjectIDLocalHome and the full class name is com.oga.gserve.biz.oid.ObjectIDLocalHome. I am
using the fully qualified class name so that I can do an EJBHomeFactory latter on.
I have used the WLS console and see my bean in the JNDI tree I also used the following to find it:
public static void loop(final Context ctx, final String name) throws Exception {
try {
String local;
NamingEnumeration childrenOfNaming = ctx.list(name);
while (childrenOfNaming.hasMore()) {
NameClassPair ncPair = (NameClassPair) childrenOfNaming.next();
System.out.print(ncPair.getName() + " (type ");
System.out.println(ncPair.getClassName() + ")");
if (name.length() > 0) {
local = name + "." + ncPair.getName();
} else {
local = ncPair.getName();
loop(ctx, local);
} catch (javax.naming.CannotProceedException e) {
// We are at a leaf, no more children.
I find ObjectIDLocalHome as type javax.naming.LinkRef, as a leaf of com.oga.gserve.biz.oid
So I know it exist!
But why as a javax.naming.LinkRef?
Now when I try the following:
String cName = ObjectIDLocalHome.class.getName();
ObjectIDLocalHome home = (ObjectIDLocalHome) ctx.lookup(cName);
I get:
javax.naming.LinkException: . Root exception is javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Unable to
resolve 'java:app.ejb/gs-ejbs.jar#ObjectID/local-home' Resolved: '' Unresolved:'java:app' ; remaining
name 'java:app.ejb/gs-ejbs.jar#ObjectID/local-home'
What is wrong?

you must pack all .java into one package ,even the client,
then you can use it normally.

Greetings,
javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
=================
Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
context.lookup
( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
Any help would be most appreciated.
SeanRegards,
Tony "Vee Schade" Cook

• JNDI lookup failed:javax.naming.NameNotFoundException

Hello:
I have a application (not web) that publish messages to a specific topic, i want to receive these messages in a Web Service, but when the web service make the call to a class that is the JMS Client it can't find the Connection factory Name that i create in the aplication.
I want to know what i have to do,
I work with J2EE1.3.1 and JMS1.0.2 for the application that publish the messages
and Jwsdp1.1, tomcat 4 and j2sdk 1.4.0 for the web service.
I create the connection factory with this command:
j2eeadmin -addJmsFactory jms/DurableTopicB topic -props clientID=IdTopicB
Then in the class that the web service invoke i trying to join with this:
try {
jndiContext =new InitialContext();
}catch (NamingException e){
System.err.println("Could not create JNDI API "+
"context:"+e.toString());
return;
*Look up connection factory and topic.If either
*does not exist,exit.
try {
topicConnectionFactory =(TopicConnectionFactory)
jndiContext.lookup(conFacName);
}catch (NamingException e){
System.err.println("JNDI API lookup failed:"+
e.toString());
return;
//System.exit(1);
But i receive a error message in the log of Tomcat:
JNDI API lookup failed:javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: El nombre DurableTopicB no este asociado a este contexto
Thanks

Hello:
I display the full context of the connection factory in the application that publish the message:
Full context is :
Enviroment is : {java.naming.corba.orb=com.sun.enterprise.iiop.POAEJBORB@ec4a87}
And in the web service when i create the initial context the full context is:
Full context is : java:
Enviroment is : {java.naming.factory.initial=org.apache.naming.java.javaURLContextFactory, java.naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.apache.naming}
How can i see the connection factory in the Web Service, because the connection factory was created in other Application?

Connection Factories and Queues are global resources that must be created through either
the admin console or the asadmin CLI command. Those global resources are then referred to
by your application code. Please see the JMS portion of the Java EE 5 tutorial :

• ExtendedOperation() with TLS fails with javax.naming.NotContextException

With JDK 1.4.2_12, I'm trying to access a Win2003 server with "ldap://<fqdn.server>:389" as Context.PROVIDER_URL. An SSL connection ("ldaps://<fqdn.server>:636") using the same keystore works fine. Testing it as a stand-alone app with TLS on a different machine also works fine (JDK 1.4.2_11) . Any help would be much appreciated as I'm completely flummoxed.
The line that throws the error is:
tls = (StartTlsResponse) ctx.extendedOperation(new StartTlsRequest());-Gregg

javax.naming.NotContextException: Not an instance of LdapContext

If it works on one machine and not another, then I hate to state the obvious, but you have to find out what is the difference between the two.
I have no idea why or how you get the "Not an instance of LdapContext". Unfortunately for you, this is where I can resort to my lame "I'm not a Java developer" excuse :-)
The only thing I can suggest is to remove the StartTLS stuff, and just see whether you can perform a basic LDAP operation over the ctx, such as a simple search.
Sorry that this is not much help.
Good luck.

This my EJB3 bean code:

mappedName="GruposUnidadesService")

class GruposUnidadesServiceBean implements GruposUnidadesService,
GruposUnidadesServiceLocal {
In the mappedName I have tried different ways like: "ejb/GruposUnidadesService"
but I always get the same exception.
This is my weblogic-ejb-jar.xml

I have:

Here, I have tried adding the resourceRef property set

Well I Think it was a beginner mistake…

<ejb-ref>
<ejb-ref-name>SeguridadService</ejb-ref-name>
<ejb-ref-type>Session</ejb-ref-type>

<ejb-link>SeguridadService</ejb-link>
</ejb-ref>
And change the applicationContext.xml
<bean id="gruposUnidadesServiceFacade" class = "org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean">
<property name="resourceRef" value="true"/>
<property name="proxyInterface" value="penoles.infraestructura.web.servicesfacades.gruposunidades.GruposUnidadesServiceFacade"/>

Could it be caused by a wrong configuration in the Weblogic Server console?That, or you are simply using the wrong JNDI lookup path. Or both. The server should provide a function to see what is deployed in its JNDI context, hopefully also mentioning the JNDI path to use. If you need more help, I suggest you take your question to the weblogic forum.

• Javax.naming.NameNotFoundException in Jdeveloper 10g

HI,
I just migrate my source code from Jdeveloper 9 to Jdeveloper 10g. Since then, all my codes do not work properly.
I cut and pasted from old version data-source.xml to 10g data-source.xml. However, when I run the project, I got javax.naming.NameNotFoundException:jdbc/mbciwebEjb not found. I check my data-souces.xml which in embeded-oc4j/config folder. The definition is there.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks

just after the error the building process continues and "successfully built" message is shown ( though i dont know whether it is successful or not and in problem listing it only warnings are shown).
When i start jboss server i get the error javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: comp not bound
i have included full server log,
waiting for your help.
