JCO characters translation bug?

Does anyone have similar problems like this?
I have a function module that returns customer from the KNA1 table in R/3 system.
This function module is called from JCO.Client and it returns the KUNNR and NAME1 fields and that works perfectly except for customers that have an & (Ampersand) like this “Father & son”. For this JCO return “Father %26 son”, where & is escaped. That should not be a problem I think, and unescaped the %26 and have “Father & son”. But it turned out to be a problem because if another customer have % (Percent) in it’s name, JCO does not escape this to %25, so I don’t know if the return value is escaped or not.
Is this a bug or a feature that somebody has solved?
I use JCO 2.1.3.
Thanks
Lars

  • Is there any solution to the colon translation bug?

    Mac OS X has reserved characters that cannot be used in file or folder names. One of them is the colon: It is used by the operating system in paths to designated separate directories and files, exactly as Microsoft uses the backslash character for the same purposed.
    However, Mac OS X is 'supposed' to translate colons to another character when saving files from within an application or the Mac OS X Save dialog. The typical translation is to forward slash or dash. For example, "Bug: Colon Translation" becomes "Bug- Colon Translation". Of if I am saving a web page to a PDF, the source name of an article with this title would change to "Bug/ Colon Translation".
    The bug: The above colon translation process does NOT work reliably in the Mac OS X Save Dialog with reliability. I guestimate that 95% of the time the translation of colons in source titles does NOT work. Using the example of translating a web article title to a PDF saved file, the results are typically the following: "Untitled.pdf". This forces the user to copy then paste in the actual title of the article. THEN, 100% of the time, the colon translation actually works. For example, if I have a web article titled "Bug: Colon Translation", it is extremely rare for that title to be anything but BLOCKED, resulting in 'Untitled.PDF' as the resulting title in the dialog box. When I then copy and paste the source title into the title area, replacing 'Untitled', I get: "Bug- Colon Translation".
    What will happen perhaps 5% of the time: The colon translation of the source title will actually work. When this occurs, using my example above, the OS provides the following translation: "Bug/ Colon Translation". Note that when it works in this situation I get a forward slash, not a dash.
    I research, read and save web articles all day long. A lot of articles use colons. I have to contend with this bug all day long every day. This bug is many years old. I can't recall when it started. But it certainly has been consistent in Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, 10.6 Snow Leopard and now 10.7 Lion. Three versions of Lion are enough for me to realize that Apple is either oblivious to this bug or they don't care.
    Clearly, the colon translation CAN work. It is MEANT to work. No one can dispute that. The user is NOT supposed to be messed over with 'Untitled.PDF' files. They are MEANT to have actual PDF file titles, as seen in our example above.
    Therefore the question:
    Is there any solution to the colon translation bug?
    It is incredibly annoying.

    My guess is they don't care. Most likely they're illiterate and don't know what a colon is for. They probably think it's a little-used character. Remember: these are the people who don't know the difference between "deprecate" and "depreciate".
    I have the same colon problem as you do. But it's not the biggest problem I have encountered in Lion. If it was only that I'd be Mr. Delighted with Lion. There's worse than having a colon - uh -  that won't cooperate. A lot worse, in Lion.

  • Address bar foreign characters translation

    when i open a wikipedia article with Chinese or Cyrillic characters in the address bar the ASCII translation gets re-translated from the original language .
    for example the Firefox info in Chinese language wikipedia is :
    http://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%81%AB%E7%8B%90%E7%8B%B8 ( this is the way in Firefox )
    http://zh.wikipedia.org/火狐狸 [ the address is shown with Chinese Characters ]
    ( in Opera browser when copied the above address bar is preserved
    the sintaxis in the original language , in this case it is Chinese language )
    for example the [ ORANGE ] info in Russian language wikipedia is ( address bar in Firefox ) :
    https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D0%90%D0%BF%D0%B5%D0%BB%D1%8C%D1%81%D0%B8%D0%BD
    for example the [ ORANGE ] info in Russian language wikipedia is ( address bar in Opera ) :
    https://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Апельсин
    in [ OPERA ] browser the web site address bar keeps the original characters on display !
    so when you copy & paste the link of the address from the address bar to share with friends on
    social network or by e-mail or bookmark it ... the original address is displayed ( kept in tact ) ,
    in Firefox we don't have this privilege ?? !! is there are work around for this problem or anybody
    can suggest an add-on utility which can fix it ??
    thank you for your ideas or helping fix this problem on Firefox for the future versions & updates.
    thumbs up ! great work so far , but fixing this will be a major improvement ,
    i remember in some of the previous versions this was not a problem and use to be fine,
    i guess with some of the engine updates somebody forget to keep the original cycle ( loop ) of
    definition instructions when displaying the address in original language to keep that info when copying and pasting the content of the address bar.

    see the article about [[http://kb.mozillazine.org/Network.standard-url.escape-utf8|about preference network.standard-url.escape-utf8.]]
    setting it to false will do, what you want.

  • Translation bug in phone's settings when change ph...

    Hello,
    I'm using WIndows Phone 8.1 and I found a small thing with translation from Russian to English and vice verse.
    Pre-conditions:
    1. Phone uses Russian language (Settings -> language ->русский).
    2. All settings' names and their summaries are translated into Russian.
    Steps:
    1. Change phone's language in settings (Settings -> language ->English (United States)).
    2. Restart phone.
    Actual results:
    1. Summary for touch menu item (Settings -> touch) isn't translated into English (United States)).
    2. Summary for network+ menu item (Settings -> network+) isn't translated into English (United States)).
    Additional info:
    1. To translate summaries for "touch" and "network+" menus just pick this menu items and they'll be translated into English (United States)).
    2. If summaries for "touch" and "network+" weren't translated into phone's language (using step 1 from additional info), then the summaries after phone's restart will be changed correctly (into phone's language, English (United States) in our case).
    3. This case works for translation English(United States) -> Russian and for Russian  -> English(United States).
    Environment:
    Microsoft Lumia 535 DUAL SIM
    OS Version: 8.10.14234.375
    Software: Windows Phone 8.1 Update

  • Sharepoint 2013 Content query webpart translation "BUG"

    I want to use a CQWP form my SharePoint(online) site in order to show all links in the link webparts. The site is in the Dutch language. What I want to do is described here:
    http://www.its-on-the-internet-so-it-must-be-true.com/2013/01/sharepoint-link-list-content-query.html So in the properties of the webpart I want to do this:
    In Dutch this looks like this (image 2 in my comment):
    Link; URL [Basiskolommen];
    Title: Comments;
    The field "Comments" is ok, this is a part of the URL when I go to the properties of that field "89%7D&Field=Comments"
    When I press apply in the properties the result is fine. The webpart return the link to a external site where the description of the link is the "Comments" field (in this example "SharePoint blog") (image 3):
    However, after that, when I press save (page). This is changes: Now I see the complete URL and not the description anymore (image 4)
    When I check the properties of the webpart I see that the field "Comments" is translated.
    Now is says "Opmerkingen". I do not have any clue how to avoid this translation.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks, Mike

    Hi Mike,
    According to your description, there is an unexpected issue occur when using a Content Query Web Part to query the Link list in your online environment.
    This is what I have done in my environment: in a Dutch site, create a Link list, add a column “Comments” into it. Then insert a Content Query Web Part into a page,
    set the “Presentation” as “Title: Comments;”, apply and save the page.
    It turns out that the “Title: Comments;” stay the same without being translated.
    In the web part properties panel:
    I would suggest you create another page and Link list and make the test again to see if it is an issue of the page in use.
    Feel free to reply if there any progress.
    Thanks

  • Widget translator bug

    I'm using a mac book pro Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b), Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory  4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3. Since yesterday (17_10_2014) my widget translator 'systran' stopped working and replies with the message data unavailable. I have tried to delete the file in the preferences folder
    widget-com.apple.widget.translation.plist and still doesn't work. Also by opening the same file (widget-com.apple.widget.translation.plist) by using Xcode I changed  fromLanguage to 3 and toLanguage to 4 but I'm not quite clear about that particular process. Probably, I'm doing something wrong in the process or is it something else? Thank you in advance

    Apple's license with Systran has simply expired: if I manually send a request to the same server that the widget uses, I get this response:
    “The SYSTRANLinks API for this ID has expired on 2014-10-17”
    The widget is still present in Yosemite however, so if they really intended not to renew the license, they would have dropped the widget too. I cannot imagine they would have decided not to renew the license to save a few bucks.
    This may just be an oversight that is somewhat understandable, given Apple's obvious intentions of axing Dashboard in one of the upcoming OS X releases. Maybe it would help if at least a few people would notify them about the problem through the OS X feedback page.

  • Code Translation Bug in iOS release build

    Hello,
    I think I found a bug in the Adobe compiler to build an iOS ipa. It only happens on ipa release builds, not interpreter builds and I have tried it with several Adobe Air SDKs (from 3.6 to 3.9).
    This function:
    protected function isCardValid(player:Player, card:Card):Boolean
                if (trick.length == 0) return true;
                else if (cardsMatch(trick[0], card)) return true;
                var validCardLeft:Boolean = false;
                for (var i:uint = 0; i < player.hand.cards.length; ++i)
                    if (cardsMatch(trick[0], player.hand.cards[i]))
                        validCardLeft = true;
                        break;
                return !validCardLeft;
    Will return true on ipa-app-store, no matter the value of validCardLeft. I have verified with popups, that the value of validCardLeft contains the correct value, nevertheless the function always returns true. It happened in 2 of my games, that use this function but a different implementation for cardsMatch();
    Using the ugly
    if (validCardLeft) return false;
    else return true;
    fixes the problem.

    Ran into a similar issue on AIR 4.0 while using "-swf-version=21" as an additional compiler option.
    Assigning a boolean variable the value "false" and checking it in an if statement always evaluates as "true" on iOS ad hoc builds.
    Changing the if statement to check "true" instead and using an else to handle the appropriate logic seems to have fixed the issue.

  • French accented characters not translated during decodeIncomingMessage

    Hello,
    Our b2b.log displays the correct French syntax during the decryption process after receiving message from our partner.

    But the French characters translate to ? during the
    "oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.exchange.ebms.EBMSExchangePlugin:decodeIncomingMessage" and

    I tried setting a unix environment variable on the B2B server NLS_LANG=CANADIAN FRENCH_CANADA.WE8MSWIN1252
    But this did not help.
    Should I also ask the NLS_LANG be set on the database server?
    thanks in advance,

    Hello Anuj,
    It takes awhile to arrange a change configuration with our IT section and arrange a test message with our partner.
    But we did arrange a test a few minutes ago.
    The b2b_2.log tip.properties reads as:
    -bash-3.00$ grep encoding tip.properties
    oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding=ISO-8859-1
    #oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding=Cp1252
    #oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.encoding=UTF-8
    But the b2b.log contains:
    -bash-3.00$ grep encoding b2b_2.log
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
    2009.10.30 at 15:27:23:186: Thread-13: B2B - (DEBUG) oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.callout.B2BCalloutHandler:processIncomingCallout payload after callout: <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>

    <?xml version="1.0" *encoding="utf-8"* ?>
    Does this indicate that the encoding did not take effect?
    Do we need to remove the commented lines in the tip.properties file?
    The accented characters translated to ? in this test (in b2b.log)
    thanks

  • Strange e-mail characters

    Hi,
    When I send e-mails using mail, sometimes people tell they receive strange chinese charaters in the e-mail I sent that makes it difficult for them to read my message. It's true because I can see this when they reply to me.
    Does anyone know why?
    Thanks

    It's true because I can see this when they reply to me.
    No, it's not true because of what you see in a reply -- their email app could be messing things up when it sends. But if they tell you they see strange characters in what they receive from you, then it is true.
    If your email is seen with strange characters at the other end, this is often related to encoding problems with accented characters and bugs in MS Outlook. This note may help:

    If you can provide more detail on exactly what is happening, it would be useful.

  • User-maxlinks bug

    I am seeing a curious bug concerning maxlinks and currlinks.
    In my dialin router, I have several users defined locally. Each username is allowed to use ppp multilink, and I have also defined a maxlinks in the username command:
    <b>
    username xxxx user-maxlinks 2 secret ...
    </b>
    Sometimes, I find that users cannot add a second link to their bundle. If I debug dialer events, I see that currlinks=2, maxlinks=2, so the new call is rejected. But the user has only one link up.
    This looks like a bug in the router's running count of currlinks. I have the impression that sometimes when a call gets cleared, the currlinks gets decremented against the wrong username, or something like that. My evidence is two debug messages:
    Se1/0:2: Dialer-peruser: Decremented user yyyy's currlinks, currlinks=0 maxlinks=2
    Se1/0:1: Dialer-peruser: User yyyy's dialerperuser structure freed already
    Serial1/0:1: Dialer-peruser: failure decrementing currlinks during mlp_remove_link
    Maybe the error message above occurs because the bundle can be dialout as well as dialin. Is is possible that currlinks gets incremented on dial in, but not on dial out, but decremented when both types of call get cleared? Certainly the pattern for the case above was for a user that was allowed 4 links. I dialed out one channel, then he added another two to the ML bundle.
    Maybe we are dealing with two different bugs here?
    Anyone else seen this?

    Whether I persue it or not will depend on how much pain it gives me, how easy it is to demonstrate, and whether my time is better spent doing other work like learning in the lab or on NetPro.
    This bug actually is likely to give quite a lot of pain in the long term, because it will limit the capacity of the dialins over time. But there is a workaround, which is not to limit the number of links.
    The real reason for exposing the bug here is to see if anyone else has noticed it, and help me characterize it. When presenting a bug to Cisco, if you can present a repeatable set of conditions that produce it, then they are more likely to take notice.
    Characterizing the bug also makes it easier to test if it has been fixed in the next release. I think this one should be quite easy to reproduce. It just needs a bit of detective work, which is presicely the sort of work I really enjoy!

  • How do I ensure I do not get these auto translated content offered by Microsoft?

    Hi,
    What I find really irritating is getting auto translated content offered by Microsoft.
    For me it would be much easier if all content was in English, and not have it offered in crippled Dutch.
    I can't imagine other people being happy to have familiar acronyms and abbreviations translated into letter combinations nobody uses in their native language.
    How do I switch it off? Permantly for all Microsoft channels?
    Would be very helpfull in keeping my bloodpressure low.
    Cheers
    Frank

    I haven't seen the garbage translation bug on forums for awhile.
    Is this in the Library?
    It's not your language settings in the upper right, is it.
    I can't repro this.

  • Javascript Layer translate in CS2

    I'm working on a script that using layer translate for relativly large images and it's going a bit screwy; I was reading up about the layer translate bug using points instead of pixels in early versions of Photoshop. Firstly does anyone know if this ever got fixed in updates of CS2? And secondly if it's still relying on points instead of pixel information is the work around dividing the result by 4.86127 (4.86127 pixels = 1 point)  And thirdly does this bug happen in VB?
    Cheers

    CS2 doesn't have arbitrary canvas rotation. That feature was only introduced in CS5 by ways of GPU acceleration features. For your otehr issue it might help to know what system you are on, so people don't have to do that much guessing. I'm not even sure if the shortcuts already existed back then, but my mmeory is realyl failing me on CS2. Seems liek a lifetime ago.

  • Non Unix friendly characers and Xsan searches

    from a project orginally digitized on firewire and moved to Xsan volume.... everything runs fine, except if you do a reconnect or a search for files with names like "a03/b02" it won't find them. Finder Search reveals the file on the Xsan as "a03:b02" BUT if you navigate a new finder window to that file, or even Locate with Final Cut, the file shows up as "a03/b02" and reconnects just fine.
    This is only a problem sharing XML's between the guy with Firewire copy and the Xsan setup. XML's between Xsan clients have no reconnect issues.
    Obviously we need to rename these files, I'm assuming the '/' is causing the problem. Any ideas for an easier fix?
    thanks

    This is similar to the behaviour the colon and slash characters have on HFS+ and most other local and network filesystems.
    try the following to see this IRL:
    • open your home folder in the Finder
    • open a new Terminal session
    • create a new file by typing the following command in the Terminal:
    touch firstTestFile
    • verify that firstTestFile shows up in the Terminal by typing:
    ls -l
    • verify that firstTestFile shows up in the Finder
    • rename firstTestFile to first/TestFile in the Finder
    • type the following command in the Terminal
    ls -l
    • notice that first/TestFile shows up as first:TestFile in the Terminal
    try to rename first/TestFile to first:TestFile in the Finder
    notice that the colon character is not allowed in the Finder
    the colon is the character for folder structure separations on Mac OS systems since somebody at Apple decided it would be nice to have a filesystem that supports folders
    the slash is used in UNIX systems since their first incarnations
    For backwards compatibility with both ancestors the character is mapped hence and forth between the two different environments on local filesystems, Apple made a nice wrapper that does this invisible to the end user.
    However, a likewise wrapper is not implemented in Xsan and one can either see this as a bug or a concession inherent to the way Xsan works. I personally don't have enough in-depth knowledge to know is the second is the case.
    Maybe someone deeply involved in Xsan can enlighten us?
    Or maybe you could file it as a Xsan bug to bugreport.apple.com if you have a developer account and see from the feedback if this is normal behaviour or an unimplemented feature.
    If it is normal behaviour for Xsan, you should file it as a bug report for Final Cut Pro, if Xsan is not expected to translate these characters, translation should be implemented at the application level.
    Of course you can just decide not to use colons or slashes in filename, which imho is a good idea anyway..
    happy editing,
    Dirk
