JComboBox fails to popup list - mouse/keyboard coordinate problem?

Have discovered the following phenomenon:
my JComboBox is placed in a hierarchy of panels, the top of which
is packaged via sun.beans.ole.Packager as ActiveX. THe ActiveX'ed
bean is used in an MFC application, which uses the plugin as VM.
The JComboBox failed to popup its selection list when the user
clicked on the popup button or used the appropriate key combination.
I found out, that if the application is resized/moved so that the JComboBox
is not in the upper left quarter of the screen, then it can display its popup list
without problem. Have not investigated on whether the "upper left" corner
also means "including popup bounds", but it seems like it.
Happens only in the plugin, not within regular Java application.
Anyone out there with a similar problem? Or better, a solution?
Have cross-posted to the Plugin group.
And, of course, I am desperate for a solution! (Project release date lurking...)
Sylvia

Nubz,
actually I'm still using a standard wired apple keyboard, wt the magic mouse, because the wire goes under my desk, and I was actually considering getting a trackpad. Still since my Yosemite upgrade, I'm having problem after problem, so I'm not sure I will even stay wt Mac. Honestly I've examined any and all solutions, in that support article, but none of them were relevant to my problem.
I did check & repair my Yosemite Disk Permissions using Disk Utility, and although it found only a few things wrong, and none were related to my keyboard, or mouse (most were for my HP printer), repairs seemed to rectify the problem.

  • Mouse & keyboard input problem.

    Hello there.
I have recently started using a Mac Mini for music live performance.
I am using programs like Ableton Live & Apple's MainStage.
I am experiencing problems with the input coming from the mouse and keyboard. After startup everything works perfectly fine. I am using Apple's Magic Mouse and Apple's wireless bluetooth keyboard now, but I have also experienced the same with a simple cheap usb mouse.
    Let me explain, what happens:
From time to time, the input coming from both the keyboard and the mouse stops. The keyboards is not responding at all. The mouse can move the coursor around, but the buttons are not responding. When I for example move the coursor on an icon in the dock, the name does not pop up, as it would do normally.
From that point my rescue is a restart (hard one) or a screen sharing login from another mac on the network to do a normal restart.
Is anyone experiencing something similar? Any tips to help me out?

We are running Ableton Live for running backtracks.
Here is the part of the log. There is more log about the system startup, if needed.

  • KVM/MOUSE/KEYBOARD/LAPTOP PROBLEM

Ok, just plugged in my KVM switch. I am using a PS2 p&p keyboars and a Microsoft tracker ball USB mouse that i have connected with a USB to PS2 adapter.
It all works fine when using the shortcuts, swapping between laptop and computer. But when it comes to moving the mouse on my other computer or using the keyboard i get no response at all.
I am at my wits end, after using the Live help and Phoning the company itself running a up a phone bill, they have not resolved the issue.
This is my final hope before chucking the annoying thing out my window.
    Puppiie

I have a similar problem with a mouse that almost works.  My model no is PS2KVM2 Linksys 2-Port KVM Switch.  the mouse is a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical.  It will move the cursor and click, but won't scroll with the wheel.  Nor does my laptop recognize that I have a USB mouse plugged in (and disable the touch pad).  If I plug the mouse directly into the laptop it works fine.  There is no PS2 port on the laptop, but I have to use a PS2 adapter to plug into the KVM switch.
Also, it used to work before I had my laptop restaged and works on my other laptop.  Both laptops are Dell D630s runing Windows XP SP2.  I have downloaded the Microsoft Mouse driver but that didn't help.  Is there a driver for the KVM switch?

  • New Mouse Keyboard Assistant Problem

I bought a Steelseries Ikari mouse. It is mac compatible, and works on my macbook. When I plugged it into my iMac the keyboard assistant came up (it recognized the mouse as a keyboard). On my macbook I just clicked the red cross and carried on using it. On the iMac I absentmindedly clicked "continue" and now the mouse doesn't do anything at all. I followed some other instructions and deleted the com.apple.keyboardtype.plist in /library/preferences but the mouse still does precisely nothing. What do I need to do to get it back working again? It still works fine on my macbook, my other imac 24" aluminium in the office (same as my home computer) and my linux and windows systems. Just not on this imac running 10.5.whatever.
    Thanks.

Yeah I did that. Waiting for a response.
I have some updates. The mouse is still dead when connected to the iMac. It powers up and its lights come on, and system profiler recognizes it and correctly describes it. I zapped PRAM and trashed the keyboard preferences and changed user but it still refuses to move the cursor. The Macbook is on 10.5.8 - same as this imac and it has no problems whatsoever.
I am wondering if there is another plist somewhere that tracks USB devices or keyboard settings? I'd love some advice, I hate twiddling my thumbs waiting when I'm sure there's a fix to be found somewhere...

  • Bluetooth mouse & keyboard login problem

When I boot my G4 PowerBook running tiger 10.4.3 I can't type my user name or password - neither my Apple bluetooth mouse or keyboard function.
I have to login using the PowerBook's mouse and keyboard - then once the login is complete my bluetooth mouse and keyboard work fine.
Bluetooth software is Apple ver 1.6.6f22
    Firmware is 2.1241
Battery's are new in both devices and I've deleted and re-added the mouse and keyboard.
    Thanks in advance -

I've got a similar problem, there are a few others on the message board too.

  • Wireless mouse/keyboard intermittent dis-connects

In the last three days, I have looked at over 20 different posts regarding wireless mouse/keyboard disconnect problems. Thew fixes ranged all over the board and NONE fixed it. And, none of these problems matched mine exactly, except for one other. I too, have two iMacs and this problem has over the last few days gotten increasingly worse and irritating. Regardless of what you're doing, whether it is actual productive work, or playing a stupid game on your computer, when your mouse quits responding, and the graphic flashed on the screen "MOUSE DISCONNECTED", it irritates.
I think a senior apple tech finally pin-pointed the problem, at least for my two systems. It has nothing at all to do with Bluetooth or Wireless networking. I tried ALL of those fixes including resetting the SMC. None fixed it.
Here is what the tech had me do. Under System Preferences > Users & Groups > My Login, I then clicked on "Login items. I was astounded to see a list that exceeded the size of the window of "startup" programs that have been installed from iTunes Helper, to Dropbox to blah, blah, blah. You name it. He had me remove ALL of them except iTunes Helper. one item "Connect service (all users) could not be removed. However, as we later discussed, the specific item the I believe to be the culprit was "Bittorrent". I've forgotten what I downloaded that used that as the download agent, but in the future, I shall NEVER AGAIN use it for ANY reason. I also removed from the applications area, some non-used programs (that probably weren't the problem, but...), emptied the trash, re-booted and have not had the problem since. I want to stress here, that if your problem is actually Bluetooth or Wireless network related, this will not fix it. However, my mouse had gotten really molassesy in that when I would try to quickly move from one spot to another on the screen, it took some time to catch up, as if something else had control. That's what I think Bittorrent or someone trying to share one of my files was causing. I don't share my files. Period. I didn't realize that it could be subverted to that use of I wouldn't have ever used it in the first place.
Anyway, neither one of my iMacs has exhibited ANY of the former symptoms since clearing that list on each system. Turns out, my second iMac also had Bittorrent in the list. That's about the only thing the two have in common besides Yosemite 10.10.3. Maybe this will help, maybe it won't. I sure hope it does. Forums like this one are extremely helpful to me.

I had the same problem... didn't find anything useful in the forums.  Just on a whim, I went to the
Control Panel | Device Manager | Universal Serial Bus Controllers
For each "Hub", right click and select "properties"
On each properties page, select "Power Management" tab
On each power management tab "uncheck" the "Allow the computer to turn off..."
I did this for the Generic USB Hubs, the USB Root Hubs, and the Reneasas...Hub.   After that was completed, all USB ports started working immediately.  So far, they are staying working but it has only been an hour or so.   Will report back if this doesn't stick.    Also, there may be a more elegant solution... but this works for now.

  • JComboBox popup list remains open after losing keyboard focus

    Hi,
I have noticed a strange JComboBox behavior. When you click on the drop down arrow to show the popup list, and then press the Tab key, the keyboard focus moves to the next focusable component, but the popup list remains visible.
I have included a program that demonstrates the behavior. Run the program, click the drop down arrow, then press the Tab key. The cursor will move into the JTextField but the combo box's popup list is still visible.
Does anyone know how I can change this???
Thanks for any help or ideas.

ran your code on 1.5.0_3, observed problem as stated.
even though the cursor is merrily blinking in the textfield, you have to click into
the textfield to dispose the dropdown
ran your code on 1.4.2_08, no problems at all - tabbing into textfield immediately
    disposed the dropdown
another example of 'usual' behaviour (involving focus) breaking between 1.4 and 1.5
the problem is that any workaround now, may itself be broken in future versions

  • JComboBox display two different lists

I have a JComboBox in a JTable column. The requirement is that the JComboBox displays two different lists based upon which mouse button is clicked on the JComboBox. i.e When user clicks on mouse Button1 the JComboBox should popup with a list of products(user default products). But, when the user clicks on mouse Button2 the JComboBox should popup with a different list of products(all the products).
    Any help will be appreciated,
    Thanks in advance!

  • How to delete empty element in popup list

I have a question about a suspicious behaviour in Forms Builder 10.1.2.0.2.
When I have a list object (pop up list) I can define some values in the attribute palette of the object.
So you can set a shown name and a value behind. In this little window to set the items of the popup list you get automatically a white empty item at the end of the list. When I click now on this empty item (you do so, when you want to add an item) Forms Builder automatically adds an new empty item at the end.
When I click this new empty item, Forms Builder adss another empty one ... and so on.
It´s very suspicious because, when I end this dialog with "OK", it will be saved and when I open the form (over web) I have at the end of the list one, two (or more) empty elements in list.
But I can´t delete this empty ones from the list in Forms Builder.
    So my question:
how can I delete empty items in a popup list??
I try it with hit "del" button at keyboard or delete the set value for the item (I hope Forms Builder delete items without value). But all does not help.

Thanks jwh for this great solution! :)
On my german keyboard it is:
    ctrl+< for deleting a line
    ctrl+> (= ctrl+shift+<) for adding a new line
    Thanks! :)
I have another question (you can maybe help me, too?).
On this popup lists you can have several items. When you open a form (via web) and the list has more than x items (maybe 5 or 6) the form shows a scroll bar on the right side.
Is there any poosibility to set how much items has to show and only show a scroll bar when there are more items in the list?
Or other way: set the maximum of shown items so big, that there will be no scroll bar.

  • USB Mouse, Keyboard not recognized in Windows

    Hello,
I have just installed Windows 7 Home Premium on my late 2012 iMac, the installation seems to have gone well except that after running the Bootcamp setup program Windows restarted and now does not recognize any mouse/keyboard - USB mouse and keyboeard as well as Magic Trackpad/Bluetooth keyboard are unresponsive. They worked before the restart, and also work in Safe mode.
Has anyone had/fixed this issue, or can direct me to instructions to help? I've looked over the forum and not found same issue. I'm assuming any fix would have to work in Safe mode as I can't do anything in Normal mode!
    USB port issue?
I'm also assuming I will have to separately fix the Trackpad/Apple Keyboard issue, but first just want to get basic USB devices working.
    Thanks!

Good News: I got it working OK.  Not sure exactly what fixed it, but will list what was done differently in case it helps someone else.
    1. Did a clean install from the Windows 7 Pro x64 disk I had purchased.  The first time I had used an ISO image downloaded from the Internet (not MS site) to create the thumb drive installer, per Bootcamp 4 instructions.
    2. Updated the Windows install using MS Update.  I had to install some drivers I found on the Bootcamp disk I made the previous time.  Those drivers were anything relative to Network and WiFi, so I was able to access the Internet.  Before that I couldn't connect.
    3. After the above, I repeated the download process that downloades the Windows support software for Bootcamp and made a new CD.
    It worked.
I still find the service from Microsoft and even Apple to be an exercise polite but useless finger pointing.  Neither organization wanted to help me.  As with most tech support groups, the object is to get rid of the problem if possible by blaming someone else.  Imagine what might have happened if the Apple tech would have actually conferenced me on a call to Microsoft!  Tech support is non-existent for Bootcamp.
Drop a line to [email protected] if you need anything explained about the above.  Cheers.  -John

  • Third party mouse/keyboard combos

    first post here.
i am going to buy a bluetooth mouse plus keyboard combo.
    i am quite interested in logitech mx5000 (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2158,CONTENTID=107 76&ad=hpb_mx5000)
would this thing work with the integrated imac bluetooth adapter? would all of the F-keys work?
    any advice?
    marco.

Hi, I'm also interested in that mouse keyboard combo
It says in the specs that the mouse is actually MX1000 for bluetooth.
    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/AU/EN,CRID=2135,CONTENTID=904 3
now, that mouse only, in the specs says that it supports mac.
so im guessing just the softwares for the keyboard that might not work, e.g. the features for IM status, etc.
    http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/logitechen_amr.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2099&p_created=1107799773&p_sid=DUr87 N-h&p_lva=940&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9MzA4J nBfcHJvZHM9MCZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9JnBfY3Y9JnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9YW5zd2Vycy5zZWFyY2hfb mwmcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1ibHVldG9vdGggbWFjIGtleWJvYXJk&p_li=&ptopview=1
lists the compatible logitech keyboards for mac os
this is another quote from logitech support
"Although it’s possible for you to use a Logitech Bluetooth product on your system, Logitech does not support these devices in any other operating system besides Windows XP and Windows 2000. However, since our devices strictly adhere to the Bluetooth standard, the hardware should operate in other operating systems. Even though the hardware may work, you will not be able to install the software and therefore will not be able to use some features such as secure data transmission and extra function keys or mouse buttons."
so.. its a gamble to buy the set.
or maybe we can buy the apple bluetooth keyboard from apple store and buy MX1000 bluetooth from logitech

  • Reconnect Magic Mouse/keyboard after reinstalling Mac OSX

After about a week I finally managed to reinstall Mac OSX Snow Leopard...I took a RAM stick out at random and it worked...good thing there weren't any Genius bar appointments which suited me.
Anyway, now I need to connect a keyboard
I've already got my USB keyboard in it (The same size one as the wireless one...but this one's wired)
I've unplugged it, plugged it back in. I've dug out my wireless keyboard and nothing's happened (Yes, the green light blinks...)
I put my iMac to sleep, I turned it off, it still isn't working...
I could try and find a wired mouse/keyboard somewhere...but I can't believe my wired Apple keyboard isn't working with it ^_^
I'm surprised Apple think this wireless stuff is a good thing...I'm more surprised my wired keyboard won't connect...
It's an iMac 11,2 (I think - Whatever the late 2010 one was) and I'm running Snow Leopard.
Also - When's it safe to put the RAM back in? Or is it actually faulty and I need to get a replacement? How can I check?

Just to clarify, this is what I want/hope to do:
Backup my iMac using Time Machine (Complete)
Format the iMac to factory settings (Complete)
    Reinstall Snow Leopard (Incomplete)
Restore some files and folders (Incomplete)
Maybe upgrade to Lion...if I'm in a good mood.
I'm mainly doing this because my hard drive stopped last week, and the hard drive fan sped up. I had to restart, went into safe mode and...I don't actually know what you're supposed to do in safe mode so I restart normally. The next day, I turned my iMac on and it had that bar below the logo as if it was booting in safe mode, the bar appeared to have stopped, so I turned the iMac off, and upon turning it back on, the bar was back, so I decided to leave it and it started fine. The next day, once again, the bar was there so I left it, but once it got to the desktop, Finder wouldn't load, I tried relaunching Finder a few times, then restarted the computer, if I remember correctly, it restarted and Finder wouldn't load again. I tried again, this time it wouldn't boot at all, I Googled it a bit and tried resetting the PRAM, SMC etc., then found that you can read what's happening when it's booting to safe mode, and many errors came up saying that some numbers were incorrect, after a few minutes, it said "Halting CPU" or something, and that's when it turned off. I then booted from the disc, and restored using the Time Machine backup. I wasn't pleased with the backup; some applications failed to load properly. I thought I might as well restore it and just copy a few files across, to save space and speed up the computer.
The many times I tried reinstalling Snow Leopard, it didn't work. I tried many things, and last night I decided to make a disc image or something to a USB stick. I don't think it was an image, because the tutorial I followed which worked didn't require that you create an image. After trying to install from the USB stick, it failed, I then removed a RAM stick, it finally worked! But my keyboard wouldn't connect...that's when I came to creatin this post, and I tried reinstalling again, it failed to reinstall, I tried removing the other RAM stick, still failed.
Last week wasn't the first time my hard drive suddenly stopped, it's happened a few times before, but the hard drive fan hasn't sped up upon the hard drive stopping, and it's also managed to start again and the computer to continue working a few seconds later. Maybe it is about time I take it to Apple...but my warranty's ran out so I'm not sure if they'll help me.

  • This is way beyond annoying now!! Mouse & Keyboard phase in & out..

Both my wireless Mighty Mouse & Keyboard upon wake phase in & out for the first 5 minutes. They sync up fine at first but as soon as I touch the mouse or try to click something I lose connection. Like I said this happens for about the first 5 minutes then all of a sudden it sticks for the rest of the day. It never did this before the last mac update.
Now just today I noticed when the screen saver comes on the mouse can't wake the computer back up?? What are all these gremlins? I've read several posts with very minimal response or help from mac pro's! Does anyone have a plausible explanation or better yet a solution to the problem?

I didn't yet find a topic that exactly addresses my problem with Leopard and bluetooth but yours seems to be very close to it. Today I connected a bluetooth headset that worked very fine with Tiger on my 17" MBP, i.e. there is the same machine and the same bluetooth device as before.
Now various network applications (Mail, Safari, even Finder!) and the whole system freeze or even crash from time to time. It seems to happen when the headset is on and connected. When I click with the mouse on the bluetooth symbol in the system menu, it takes about five seconds for the menu to appear. When I open System Preferences, I see the busy cursor for about halve a minute before I can click on any icons in it.
I removed bluethooth from the list of network interfaces in network preferences but it didn't help.
I also have a bluetooth mighty mouse that I am not using at the moment but I will connect it tomorrow to test. For now, it looks to me that something is wrong with whole bluetooth functionality in Leopard.

  • Can anyone recommend a Bluetooth Mouse & keyboard?

    Hi Guys,
I've finally installed Bluetoothand AirPort into my Mac Mini & was wondering if anyone could recommend a mouse & keyboard they're happy with? I'm put off by the hefty price tag on the Apple products!
Many thanks for any help you can give.
    Paul

"One thing is for sure! Do not buy the Apple bluetooth keyboard!"
I couldn't disagree more. I have two Apple BT keyboards which I use with my 17 inch PowerBook, G4 Mac Mini and CoreDuo Mini. The keyboards work perfectly every time.
I even spilled beer into my first BT keyboard back in November, 2003. After submerging the whole unit in the bathtub, flushing it out with distilled water and allowing it to dry thoroughly for two days, the keyboard fired up immediately and it's been working perfectly ever since. How's that for a testimonial!
Bluetooth mice are another matter. I've had too many disconnections and failed pairings with my Apple BT mouse and my MS Intellimouse BT. Of the two, the Apple mouse works better but not by much. Reading through these forums it seems no third party Bluetooth mouse works more reliably than Apple's. Sporadic disconnections seems the Devil's bargain for BT mice on the Mac.

  • Mouse, keyboard and clock freezing

    Hello
My mouse, keyboard and clock are randomly freezing and I have to power off.  Restart and it is fine for awhile.  Went to the Genius Bar and couldn't recreate it of course.  Created a new user account but it happens there also.  So annoying.  Have read on the boards and google that other people have had the same issue but can't find a solution.  Help?  Running Snow Leopard

Corsair said that setting the Failsafe Defaults and setting XMP to enabled should work.
As I said before, XMP Settings (DDR3-1600/CL8) are overclocking settings, not default settings.  Corsair does not (actually cannot) reallly guarantee that these settings are stable.  To point that out, I quoted the standard note that Corsair has put into the datasheet for your modules.
The native settings (industry standard settings) for your modules are DDR3-1333 @9-9-9-24 @1.5 +/- 0.075V.  I already provided you with a link to the datasheet which lists these parameters. That is why I suggested to use these.  Have you tried these settings yet?
    Quote
It seems like the BIOS settings for their RAM is a trade secret and heavily guarded
Not really.  They are in the datasheet.
If the DDR3-1333 settings do not change anything, reduce the memory clock speed to DDR3-1066.  That is the maximum clock speed the memory controller of your processor natively supports (according to Intel Specifications).
Please keep Spread Spectrum disabled at all times.

Does anyone know what settings in the BIOS I have to set so the RAM runs at 1.5v?
The JEDEC Standard SPD Settings for your memory modules are in the Corsair Datasheet. I have already pointed them out twice.

Also I've noticed that the IOH temperature has been running around 60 - 70 degrees C.
The maximum allowable temperature for the IOH is around 100°C (according to Intel Specs).  As long as the temperature stays below that value, there should be no functional issues.  To double check:  Point an extra fan to the IOH heatsink to provide additional cooling and see if that changes anything.
    One more thing:
What is your current BIOS Version?
