JComboBox in Javafx 1.3.1 webstart Application

I have a big trouble with a Javafx 1.3.1 Application running in our Enterprise. The Application is javafx 1.3.1 witten and there are inside of the application pure java Components integretet with with a SwingComponent. Now the Problem is when i add JComboBoxes into the Container also without filled with information it always produces a high Processor time usage. When i let the hole Application run without the Comboboxes showing the Processor time are only 1% wiht the ComboBoxes it increases up to 50%.

hi markusg80,
The javafx 1.3.1 has many bugs related to the controls. It seems you are integrating swing component which is not bad. As javafx 1.3 itself is memory and processor eating so you need to optimize your code to run it faster. I would recommend you to use the javafx controls instead of Swing because javafx need to call the swing engine inside javafx which is probably big processing one. JComboBox consist many JLabels, so may be it's reason to take more processing. Or it may depends on how you are managing the JComboBox Model.
Thanks,
Narayan

  • Java Webstart application problem with TLS certificate revocation checks (Java 1.7.0_76)

    We have a problem with our Java Web Start Application regarding the TLS certificate revocation check:
    The application is running on a server within a wide area network which is separated from the internet.
    The application users have access to the WAN, and also access to the internet over some corporate proxy/firewall.
    The user has to enter, for example "https://my-site.de/myapp/ma.jnlp" within a webbrowser or could also call  "javaws https://my-site.de/myapp/ma.jnlp" to start the application client.
    The webserver has a certificate from a trusted certificate authority. This certificate seems to be ok, the browser is even configured to perform OCSP status check.
    The application files are signed with a certificate from another trusted certificate authority. This certificate seems also to be ok. Regarding this certificate there
    are no problems with certificate revocation checks.
    The problem is, while starting the application client there is a message box which tell us something like "the connection to this website ist not trustworthy",
    "Website: https://my-site.de:80", and something about an invalid certificate, meaning the webserver certificate.
    Obviously the jvm runtime, which is executed on the users workstation, tries to perform a revocation check for the webservers certificate, but this fails because
    it cannot fetch the certificate under https://my-site.de:80.
    The application will execute without further problems after that message but the users are very concerned about the "invalid" certificate, so here are my questions:
    - Why is the application trying to get the webserver certificate over Port 80. Our application developers told me, there is no corresponding statement. Calling this address
      has to fail while "https://my-site.de:443" or "https://my-site.de" would not have a problem.
    - Is there a way to make the application go on without performing a tls revocation check? I mean, by adjusting the application sourcecode and not by configuring the users Java Control Panel.
      While disabling the TLS Certificate Revocation check in the Java Control Panel, the Webstart Application executes without a warning message, but this is not a workable solution for
      our users.
    It would be great if someone can help me with a hint so i can send our developers into the right direction;-)
    Many thanks!

    I dont want my webstart application to be downloaded on desktop or you can say i dont want shortcut of this application on my machine.
    I want to restrict opening of this application from shortcut. I want it can only be opened using explorer.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your reply, i didnt understood your last line "Either way a user could create a shortcut on their desktop to the JNLP file (even if it is on the web). "
    This is my JNLP. Tell me what else i have to do to stop creating shortcut on desktop. I dont want to shortcut creation automatically.
    or if shortcut appears then i dont want application to run from that shortcut.

  • How to launch a Java WebStart application with older JREs when Java 7u25 is on the client?

    How can I launch older versions of my Java WebStart application, that are built and run with Java 7u21 or earlier, even if Java 7u25 is installed locally on the client? Application launch and behaviour must be reliable and consistent.
    Background:
    As of 7u25 (and later), Java Webstart applications launch with a different class loader than pre-7u25.
    My Java Webstart application has supported versions that were built with older versions of the JDK (e.g. Java 5, 6, 7u21 or earlier). These applications run with their required JRE version, enforced through JNLP. Once Java 7u25 is installed locally, these older applications fail to launch, due to classloader differences.
    The question is: what is required to run older Java WebStart applications even if 7u25 (or later) Java Webstart is installed locally on the client?

    I confirm your findings when using shortcuts to try specific versions of JavaWS with 7u25 or later installed:
    JRE 5u14 launched and the classloader was as pre 7u25
    JRE 6u43 would not launch
    JRE 7u21 launched but the classloader was not as pre 7u25
    You can launch the shortcut with the JavaWS -verbose option to display a messagebox with valuable information.
    I am keeping a close watch on this thread.

  • Use naming datasource in WebStart application

    Hello!
    I created a simple WebStart application with ADF Swing components.(JDeveloper version is 11.1.1.3)
    I deployed this application on Weblogic server (version is 10.3.3).
    But my application works fine, when I use JDBC connection in configuration of my application module.
    When I change type to JDBC DataSource, I get an error: (oracle.jbo.DMLException) JBO-27200: Failure JNDI. Can't execute search of datasource in context hrGlobal
    Where, "hrGlobal" is name of DataSource which is situated on WLS. (This DataSource I created using WLS Console).
    Maybe, there is any help or source code or documentation about this problem, but i could not find such information.
    So, if anyone had met with this problem and can share solution with me, it would be great.
    Thank you for time and answers.
    Regards, Stanislav.

    Hi. Thank you for link. But my problem that this naming DataSource works in ADF Faces application and gives an error in ADF Swing WebStart application. Names in this 2 applications(ADF Faces and ADF Swing) match and i don't use property jbo.server.internal_connection.

  • I need to sign a java webstart application but Im no coder

    Hi
    I have a java webstart application that was writen for me by a coder that I can no longer contact. I was given all the souce code for the application including an unsigned jar file. What I would like to know is how do I go about getting the application signed by a trusted authority so that the people who use the app for the first time dont get the big ugly warnings. I have no java programing experience at all so any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Dean

    Please note that users will still get a message, because signing does not infer trust, it only establishes identity.

  • [Q] ClassNotFoundException for EJB stub in Webstart application

    Hi,
    Why does an EJB client application running in Webstart need to be explicitly provided
    with the EJB stubs, while the same application run on the command-line is able
    to download the stubs from the server automatically?
    To elaborate, I have a Java application running in Webstart 1.0.1, doing a JNDI
    lookup of an EJB on a WLS5.1 SP9 server on NT. Unless I jar up the EJB stub classes
    (SomeBeanHomeImpl_ServiceStub etc.) and define them in the Webstart application,
    I get the exception given at the end of this mail.
    Now, what I don't understand is, when I run the same application directly on the
    command line (i.e., not in Webstart), it works just fine; it is somehow able to
    download the stubs from the server. Why does it behave differently in Webstart,
    and is there any way around it, so that I don't have to deploy the stubs along
    with my client application?

  • How to run javafx program like a normal application?

    Now,it is known that it is so inconvenient to run javafx program.At least ,I think it is not so perfect to use the command line to run it if it is made into a desktop application.
    Therefore,I think of a way to run the javafx program like a desktop application:
    I write a jase program which include the javafx program as resource and use the jase program to call a *.bat file that can run the javafx program.
    Can it work?

    Rozario,
    You need to use mod_plsql to do this. See the documentation on how to configure mod_plsql in order to access plsql as a web application.

  • Debugging Webstart applications

    In order to debug a webstart application (remotely) some parameters (e.g. -Xdebug -Xrunjdwp:transport=...) have to be added to the JVM of the application.
    Because WebStart-JVM terminates after launching the application in a seperate JVM the debug-parameters are useless for the application-JVM.
    To solve the problem either
    a) WebStart must be told not to invoke a seperate JVM or
    b) there has to be a place (e.g. the JNLP-file) where to enter the debugging parameters belonging to the application-JVM.
    Can anybody give me some hints how to solve a) and/or b)?
    Thanks

    I already looked at www.vamphq.com. But I only found a description how to start the WebStart-JVM with debugging parameters set and a small untillity which sets the parameters automatically for the WebStart-JVM.
    Both solutions dont't work for the application-JVM which was invoked by WebStart.

  • MediaPlayer OnEndOfMedia not working in Webstart application

    I have an issue with a Swing/JavaFX application where I'm using the mediaPlayer to play a video. The application works just fine when it is run in my eclipse but as soon as I pack it and upload it to a webserver the video gets played without a problem but the onEndOfMedia Runnable doesn't get triggered anymore. Anyone got a clue how that's possible? Like I said the code works from eclipse and the video itself works also in webstart.
    mediaPlayer.setOnEndOfMedia(new Runnable() {
    public void run() {
         System.out.println("End of Media!");
    // do something
    });

    >
    Unfortunately I only have a massive project which I can't simply reduce.
    >
    It's really hard to diagnose something without anything to look at. And if this turns out to be caused by a bug in the library itself as opposed to your own code, the lack of a simple code sample demonstrating the activity that is't working is going to make it difficult to file any bug reports. In the absence of a code sample, I'm going to have to ask quite a lot of questions and the best I'm going to be able to give you is advice, not solutions.
    Does the program work the way you expect it to when you run the files given in the dist/ folder as opposed to your website?
    Where is the video relative to the where the application is run?
    Is whatever you are doing in the onEndOfMedia function something Webstart is allowed and/or able to do? What is supposed to happen when the video is over and what is actually happening?
    Have you given the MediaPlayer any onError functions? Have you gathered data from its other events? What do they say? What is happening up until onEndOfMedia is supposed to be called? What is the value of currentTime compared to the value of totalDuration when the video is nearing the end? What does the status variable indicate? Keep track of all the variables in the MediaPlayer and see if you can find any anomalies.

  • Problem in launching webstart application when using version atribute

    Hello Experts,
    I am trying out my first example of JNLP. This is my JNLP file.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jnlp spec="1.0+" codebase="http://localhost:8092/webApplForWebStart" href="launch.jnlp">
        <information>
            <title>ForWebStart2</title>
            <vendor>NAgrawal</vendor>
            <description>ForWebStart2</description>
            <description kind="short">ForWebStart2</description>
            <homepage href=""/>
            <offline-allowed/>
            <shortcut online="true">
              <!-- create desktop shortcut -->
              <desktop/>
              <menu submenu="WebStart Trial"/>
         </shortcut>
        </information>
        <security>
            <all-permissions/>
        </security>
        <resources>
            <j2se version="1.5+"/>
            <jar href="JNLPTime.jar" version="1.0" main="true" download="eager"/>
        </resources>
        <application-desc main-class="TheTime">
        </application-desc>
    </jnlp>My Problem is if I remove version="1.0" from <jar > tag application is launching properly. But if I am using version attribute , it is giving me this error while launching the application.
    "Unable to load resource :( http://localhost:8092/webApplForWebStart/JNLPTime.jar , 1.0)
    java.io.IOException : missing version response from server."
    I can't afford to remove the version attribute as it is required for auto-update. Has anyone ever tried faced such problem.? Please help me. Any help is highly appreciated.Thanks in advance.

    It's just as told.
    If you're using explicit versions, the server response MUST provide an header to tell which version is returned (you could be using 'wildcards' like 1+).
    How are you serving requests? Are you using JnlpDownloadServlet? If so, check docs: extra work is required in order to use version features.
    If using your own service google for header (and parameter) name, use exact versions and copy to the response the value you're retrieving from the request.
    Bye.

  • Is it appropriate to use File.createTempFile() in webstart applications?

    Hello everyone.
    I'm currently involved in developing a web start application for my company; and I am a bit puzzled as to the way temporary storage should be managed in the client's machine. To begin with, the application is a web start "trusted" application, since we're signing it.
    Specifically, the application needs to perform XSLT transformations with user-generated data. This obviously needs some place to read a source XML document and a source XML stylesheet.
    Loading the latter from my application jars as a URL isn't much of a problem. However, my confusion is regarding the location where the XML document generated by the user should be temporarily stored, since only the output of the transform is relevant.
    So the first option I got is to use the muffin storage system provided by web start. The concern I have with this is that, while it does provide a place for applications to store data, the mechanics needed to maintain muffin data do not seem (this is just a personal opinion) friendly enough for storing temporary data (an XML file in my case).
    Now, I find that a better alternative for doing this would be to use File.createTempFile() in order to request a temporary storage location to dump the XML data to transform.
    Now, bearing this in mind; is it ok for this trusted application to use the facility provided by the File class? Or is there any better way I could do this?
    Thanks for your time and help!

    Well, basically the intent is that the result of the transform will be used to derive a report from another application. Now, the nature of the transform's output file is about 3 to 4 MB when generated.
    I believe that is the primary purpose of saving transformed output.Fair enough but then why do you need to create the intermediate temporary file. Can't you just process the transformed data sequentially as it is produced.

    In fact, while looking further into this subject, I found some code from the JDIC project mailing list where the example seems to indicate that some level of File functionality is allowed while running under Webstart.I use files under Webstart but I do sign the jars.

    So probably the idea may not be too crazy at all :PI never said it was crazy - I just queried the need for the intermediate file. You don't give any details of what you are doing with the transformed xml so I still question the need for the intermediate file.

  • Java WebStart application fails to load when cache is disabled.

    We have a problem with our application when using the latest version of Java (Update 20). We a lanching a jnlp file using Java WebStart.
    Until to the early release Update 21 b05, we had the following exception:
    java.lang.NullPointerException
         at java.util.jar.JarVerifier.mapSignersToCodeSource(Unknown Source)
         at java.util.jar.JarVerifier.mapSignersToCodeSources(Unknown Source)

    Which was fixed with the following bug resolution: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6943522
    Now with that latest version that initial problem got resolved, but a new one appeared. The problem described below, only appears when the "Java Cache"
    of the control panel is disabled. We tested all the following scenarios:
    - Cached data cleaned / Cache enabled: Works
    - Cached data / Cache enabled: Works
    - Cached data cleaned / Cache disabled -> Exception
    - Cached data / Cache disabled -> Exception
    * We have already check the signature of the resource manually and it is correctly signed.
    * We have checked the jnlp with JaNeLA, and it's good.
    * No matter what we change, every time Java Cache is disabled, we get the exception.
    The exception thrown is the following:

    Can someone give any light on this issue?
    For me it look very clearly like another bug related the first fix, but I wanted to pop the question here first.
    For now we are recommending our customers, to keep with Java Update 18 (Last working version),
    but it's becoming a bigger issue, since more and more customers are trying to update to the latest version.
    Regards.

    There were some recent (last month or three) reports of broken cache management, but AFAIR they were supposed to be fixed by update _20. Try update _21, and if that does not resolve the issue, raise a bug report with Sun.
