Jcontrol.exe won't start, installation WAS6.40 sp9 stops

L.S.
I have downloaded the marked 'new' SAP Netweaver enterprise portal on MAxdb, developer edition Sneak Preview and tried to install it on my laptop.
After several bumps in the road I got 98% of the WAS6.40 done but the installation stops at 'Start SAP J2EE Engine' . Looking in SAPMMC I find proces jcontrol.exe is stopped and won't start again. I need this up and running fast, because I (and several colleges) need this to prepare for the TEPD20 course starting in March.
I Searched SDN and Googled my way through the net, but nothing there that helped. I tried so far:
- reinstall everything again.
- Setting my regional settings to English
- Uninstalling Microsoft Virtuel machine
Does anyone have any idea how to get this running?
Btw I have j2sdk1.4.2_07 installed, and 2GB ram.

Hans van der Kooij

How ironic.  Just after I post, I finally get it to work.
Here's what I did:
1. Get the installation to the point of Starting J2EE server, at which it fails.
2. Open the server configuration tool, which can be found at /usr/sap/J2E/JC00/j2ee/configtool
3. Once you get the config tool happily talking to SapDB, change the values for Max Heap from 1024MB for the J2EE server (server_IDsomebignumber) to 512MB.  You also need to change the vm parameters box to decrease the -Xms param to 512MB as well.
4. Make the same changes on the "Servers General" tab of the instance_IDsomebignumber node.
Once I decreased the amount of heap size allocated by the servers I was able to start them successfully using the SAP Management Console
5. Start the installer again, and continue the existing installation.  It finishes successfully.
It seems to me that SAP could fix this problem just by changing the default heap sizes for the servers.  I would suggest that they should.

  • Jcontrol.exe won't start - NW2004s

    Hi All,
I have deployed the NW2004s 'Developer Workplace' on my machine. Once the installation completed successfully, the Server was up and running fine. But i'm not able to restart the server (jcontrol.exe stays yellow). Dispatcher is up and running, so is SDM server but not the J2EE server. I have increased the Java heap size to 512m and also modified the parameter 'jstartup/trimming_properties = off' in the profile folder (Not sure what this does but it was mentioned in one of the posts to fix the problem).
Please let me know what do i need to fix the problem.
    Appreciate all the help.
    Regards,
    Vishal.

    Hi,
Thanks for the help. I tried but couldn't resolve it. I have copied the contents of dev_jcontrol and bootstrap_ID11962850. In dev_jcontrol, i could see the message as server0 started but in MMC, it's still yellow.

  • JControl.exe does not start...Database Initialisation Problem...MS SQL

    Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any idea on why JCONTROL.exe does not start. I am currently installing NW04s EP7. The DB is on another host and te SCS and CI are on a different host. I am going throught the installation when I get the following error fro the Bootstrap file.
I have already done the following steps:
    1. entered the SAP<SID>DB password
    2. SQL is started and running on the second host.
    3. The bootstrap.propeties files look the same as any other file EP system on our network

    Hi,
    Ask yourself the following questions:
At the OS level, please check CPU utilizations as well as rate of I/O on the disks at the time when things seem stuck. How much CPU do you have? Are these local disks or SAN mounted?
Also, please check the individual hardware requirements of each of these systems as per their installation guides and see if your server exceeds all of them put together or not.
Also, when you installed the previous systems, did you allow all of them 100% of main memory (sapinst asks you this during installation) or did you divide the main memory allotment and gave them only like 25% of available? Better check profiles for each system and see how much RAM you are allowing for each system. None of the systems alone should be allotted too large a share of the RAM on the server as this can cause issues for the other systems.
    Regards,
    Shitij

  • Portal EHP1 SP07 Patch causes app server jcontrol.exe to not start.....

I just finished patching our test portal system.

    Thank you,
    Neil

    Neil,
Thanks for your persistence and for reporting how you eventually solved it.  I had precisely the same problem after upgrading our production Portal from 7.00 to 7.01.  I didn't have problems in dev or test, because we don't have multiple app servers in those environments, just a central instance.  Now it's GoLive weekend and I've been pulling out my hair trying to get the app servers to work after the EHPI process is done.  I had to do just what you suggested, about editing the bootstrap configuration manually, as changes in the config tool didn't seem to have any effect on jcontrol.  I got that solved using your solution, but that led to nearly the same problem occurring for the individual dispatcher and server nodes, once jcontrol was started.  It took a while and lot of experimenting, but eventually I figured out that they were pulling the wrong jdbc driver from their individual configuration.manager properties (accessed via config tool).  The central instance was correctly updated by the EHPI program, but not the app servers.  Annoying!
Makes me wonder if I was supposed to leave the app servers running during the 'downtime' phase of the EHPI.  The manual, and the EHPI program, tell you at the start of the phase "shut down all dialog instances now", but then there's no indication of how these significant changes are supposed to be replicated to the app servers.  Several times I nearly escalated to a Very High priority Customer Message, but I kept unraveling the thread until I solved it, and your message here was the clue that put me on the right track.
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • AfterFX.exe won't start - missing FTL.dll error

This is part of the Creative Suite CS3. All other components work. AfterfX.exe will not start. I reinstalled but no change.
I'm on a Gateway FX540b with Vista Home Premium. I have not applied SP1 yet.
    Any ideas?

Is your system up to the latest patch level otherwise? Do you use any CoDec packs on your system? The issue is not dependent on the DLL - there is no such a thing as an ftl.dll (though it would be nice, as according to "Galactica" lore it means "faster than light" and would accelerate your computer a trillion times *giggle*) :-) Remove any CoDec packs you may have on your system. Also look into alternate media players like MPlayer Classic or VLC - they sometimes bent your media file handling assignments in unpredictable ways and may thus screw AE. As an last item, temporarily disable any security tools you may have on the system. If they are protecting or deep-scanning some files, they will respond to any access of those files in similarly unpredictable ways.

  • Photoshop 7 setup.exe won't start

    Hello everyone !
Thank you for reading my question and taking some time to help me. Much appreciated
I have some troubles with my photoshop 7. When I click on the exec setup file, it starts and then stops. Nothing happens, no window, no error message, just the exec doesn't launch.
The setup exe seems to be running in the task manager but appart from this, zero.
I've tried the administrator mode, the XP compatibility mode, the installation files copied on the C drive, ... nothing works.
I'm running a Windows 7 64 bits system, 8GB ram, and an SSD drive on C:.
Could someone help me with this issue ?
I've looked into the previous discutions on this website about similar issue but it was on different versions of Photoshop.
If my question has been already asked, please forgive me as a first-time user of the adobe community !
    Best regard

  • New Photoshop Elements 12 won't start installation

Just bought Adobe photoshop elements 12. The disc will pop out after 15 seconds. I hear my Mac but nothing happen. I have all the system requirements (Mac OSX (10.8.5) and recent version of Flash Player. What could be the problem. Thanks!

    St. Viateur
Although you purchased the bundle of Photoshop Elements 12 and Premiere Elements 12, each is a standalone product. And, each has it own set of considerations based on its basic reason for being, Photoshop Elements (photo editor) and Premiere Elements (video editor).
However, if I am understanding what you are trying to tell us....
I see your rationale in posting in the Premiere Elements forum since your issue seems to target the installation disc which includes installation files for Premiere Elements as well as Photoshop Elements.
Am I correct in understanding that you insert this one and only disc into your DVD burner tray and, before you can select Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements, the DVD burner tray pops open? Is that correct?
Please excuse the following additional questions, but I do not want to take anything for granted...
    a. These bundles come with installation disc for Windows and Mac. Could you have picked up the Windows disc by mistake?
    b. Did you purchase the bundle from Adobe or an authorized reseller?
Please verify my understanding of your basic question and confirm that you installation disc is the one for Mac not Windows.
Let us start here and then move forward from there.
    Thanks.

  • ConsoleOne.exe won't start and takes up 100% of system resources

The process starts up, waits for a few seconds and then take all the
system CPU resources. AND the program doesn't start. I've heard
malfunctioning ConsoleOne software is caused by Java2 issues, but I have
(almost) ruled that out by uninstalling and RE-installing different
version of Java2 with no result, versions that all have worked just up
till recently. I have experienced this sort of problem one time earlier
but it was solved by a forced formating of the harddrive due to other
circumstances. Some days ago my computer froze up, and after the forced
reboot ConsoleOne would'nt start up. We run consoleone.exe over the
    network directly from the
    server.

  • Mac won't start, gives me the kernel stop-sign

Ok, this is my big big problem..
One day, i was just doing nothing on my dear computer, starting up firefox or something, then suddenly everything stopped. I couldn't do anything. I forced-restarted the computer with the boot-button. When im trying to start it over again, i get to the white startup-screen with the apple-icon in the middle, with the loading-circle underneath it. After a while, the apple-icon changes to a grey stop sign (picture of it further down).
    So, what have i tried?
Trying to boot with CD, says i can't install Mac OS, but i can go into the Disk utility, Verify Disk / Repair Disk:

When starting the computer holding down SHIFT-button, i get a white screen with black text, and a square saying 'You need to restart your computer. Hold down the Power button until it turns off, then press the Power button again." The black text in the foreground says:

I really don't know what to do... and my computer is from 2009, has worked pretty good (until now), and i dont have any warranty...
    EDIT:

    Something like that.....

There is this Apple Knowledge Base article, which describes your issue:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1892?viewlocale=en_US
However, it sounds as though you have tried most of what's there. If it won't allow you to reinstall the OS, then there is definitely something amiss with your hard drive.
Sometimes a third-party disk utility (such as Drive Genius) can repair a drive when Apple's own Disk Utility cannot.
    Good luck with it.

  • Urgent.....Jcontrol.exe is stopped.

    Hi
After several restarts the jcontrol.exe is not up and the status shows stopped in SAP MMC.
    Please help.....!

    Hi,
Check if the central service instance is already running. The message server has to be up and running on the specified host and port.
Verify that the bootstrap.JavaPath property in the /j2ee/cluster/instance.properties file points to a full version of the Java Development Kit (and not to an installation of the Java Runtime Environment).
Retry the command in the /work directory from a command interpreter

  • Update 7.43 to 7.6 - iTunes won't start  but have iTunes.exe Task

    Hi There!
I updated my Company-Computer from iTunes 7.4.3 to 7.6 and now iTunes won't start.
All it does is: It shows the waitcursor for a few seconds and I get a Task in the Taskmanager that says iTunes.exe
But it won't show the EULA where I am asked to accept Apples Terms.
I updated my Laptop too and that works fine.
I checked all the Services that where running (on both systems) and they where identical.
What else could prevent the EULA window from appering? And if I acceped the EULA would iTunes start ok?
Has anyone had the same problem and what could I do?
So far I deinstalled iTunes and everything else (AppleLike) and cleaned the registry of all iTunes and Quicktime branches. After a reboot I installed it again - so far it didn't help.
Has anyone an idea what I could try else (reinstalling windows ist out of the question since it is may workplace PC; everything else works fine.
    Thanks in advance
    René

    Hey Everyone,
I am going to add to the long list of outrage. I JUST purchased (like literally...9 hours ago...) an 8GB iPod Touch and after installation I ran into the EXACT same problem. Since I am a new owner this is the first time I have iTunes installed on my computer. So of course I downloaded the most recent version (as instructed). Like everyone else in this thread is saying, you try to open up the iTunes application but the GUI doesn't appear at all. Apparently "something" is running because its process is active in the Task manager but there is nothing on my screen! What's the problem here??? I've done everything short of reinstalling XP (thats actually kind of unnecessary as you shouldn't have to uninstall an entire OS just to get an application to work...update files or clean the registry--sure...uninstall then reinstall--no..). Yes, obviously this is an Apple product so there won't be many (if any) conflicts when connecting to an Apple device (like a Macbook). But seriously guys....seriously???
What is more outrageous to me, besides the fact that this is a widespread problem...is the fact that this is a CURRENT problem that has YET to be even identified or rectified by anyone from Apple. I went on this forum, thinking that this was some known occurrence that happened maybe months ago and could be fixed immediately--but I am viewing messages from this week and even TODAY!
This is absolutely unacceptable. Who needs to be contacted concerning conflict resolution with Apple hardware? Or does Apple wish to have another iPhone-esque debacle like a few months ago?
Not to be rude, but I am not the average user that knows nothing about software and/or hardware (as I'm sure alot of others are knowledgeable). I am not "that person" that doesn't plug in the computer into the outlet then wonders why its not working. I don't mean to come here with an air of anger but this is truly ridiculous...lets get the ball rolling on a fix or start drafting up those $299.99 refunds...

  • Plugin installer won't start.

I got an applet which when loaded on systems without the version 1.5 of the pluging it will prompt the user to download the latest version. It works find in 18 out of 20 computers. The last 2 are laptops and the installer won't start and the applet won't appear.
    Anyone know why?

    Tim,
I encountered the same problem. Are you installing on a server with
a Pentium 4? If so, the problem is with the Pentium 4.
I found the workaround posted on Intel's website. Check this url:
    http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/9011824413236561-prd24.htm
The work around is that the Oracle installer uses a program called symcjit.dll and this program does not properly function on a Pentium 4. Here is Intel's workaround:
If you are installing into Windows* 2000, one workaround recommendation by Oracle for this problem is:
    1. Be sure that you have installed the latest Windows 2000 Service Packs.
    2. Create a temporary directory on your Intel Pentium4 processor server (e.g. \TEMP).
    3. Copy the contents of the Oracle Server CD to the temp directory created in step 2.
    4. Search the directory structure created in step 2 for the existence of the filename SYMCJIT.DLL.
    5. Rename each copy of the SYMCJIT.DLL to SYMCJIT.OLD.
    6. Run the SETUP.EXE from the \TEMP\install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x.
    I hope this helps
