JDBC and FTP sender channels stop polling

Hi,
We have a great volume of sender JDBC and FTP sender channels.
For this reason there is nothing unusual to have temporary error connections.
Several months ago, with an XI 3.0 system, sender channels recover its functionality automatically when temporary error connection is solved.
But now, he have migrate to a PI 7.1 sytem, and in the same scenario and configuration, sender channel stop polling after a temporary error . In cc monitor this channels remains in green status and there were no signs of stopped interfaces.
Timeouts are correctly defined and there is no difference between channel configuration in our Xi and PI system.
How to solve this problem?

File Sender channel stopped polling on FTP site

Dear all,
We have many file to Idoc interfaces running in production and all are they good.
Yesterday we faced one issue, one of the interface's sender communication channel stopped polling and didn't picked the files from FTP.
There was no error on communication channel monitoring and it is green.
We stopped & started the channel then started picking the files. But this is not usual behavior of file adapter.
We found one SAP Note 1083488, according to this note, we are in the latest SP level( PI 7.0 SP 14). So not required to apply this patch my case.
What should i do to not to face next time

To solve this issue, increase the number of configured J2EE application threads using the SAP J2EE Engine Config Tool ("cluster-data" -> "Global server configuration" -> "managers" -> "ApplicationThreadManager" -> "MaxThreadCount").
Starting with XI 3.0 SP14 / PI 7.0 application threads are allocated on demand by the File Adapter and returned to the thread pool after it has finished the polling sequence, so thread shortage situations will typically occur much more rarely than with earlier SPs.

JMS Sender Channel not Polling

Scenario: BEA Weblogic -
> JMS Queue -
> Sender Channel JMS -
> SAP XI -
> SAP R3
We had initially setup this scenario using MessageSelector because the provider JMS Queue had mutiple message types on it. As Murphy's law would have it, the MessageSelector stopped polling the day before go-live. Basically, if we pointed one JMS SC to the provider JMS Queue using MessageSelector it worked fine, if we pointed multiple JMS SC's no messages were being picked up from the queue. We still haven't identified why the MessageSelector functionality stopped working but as a quick work around to MessageSelector before go-live we used blog:

Now we have a situation where, BEA Weblogic manages the provider JMS Queue & they perform a health check 4 times a day & if they encounter a problem they bounce the server & JMS Queue service. XI and the SC seem to re-connect fine most of the time when Weblogic & JMS Queue is back up but there are times when I see a green light in RWB for the SC but it's not polling for messages on the JMS Queue. We use Hermes JMS to monitor messages on the Queue to check if there are in fact messages to be picked up & the messages are queued.
What I'm looking for is a best practice guide for how to manage this. I don't want to keep toggling between Hermes JMS & RWB to verify if the SC is in fact polling messages altho' it shows as green in RWB. Please advise. Thanks.

Joel, I'm not really looking to add another layer with the JMS Connector Service. For me it's just adds another possible point of failure. At the moment the message passes thru 5 systems including SAP R3 & end system & then the response comes back the same route.
Going out from SAP, the Receiver channel to the JMS queue seems to work fine. With the responses coming back, the Sender Channel seems to re-connect ok (I'm assuming) otherwise it wouldn't be green in RWB but doesn't pick up any messages. It's also an intermittant phenomenon. Manually stopping & re-starting the Sender Comm Channel fixes the problem but we won't know if there's a problem until we check if messages are being picked up from the queue.
Kai's notes led me to some things I could possibly look at like additional parameter in JMS channel config, CONNECTION_TEST_POLL (note 948016). I'm still not sure how we can make this work for us because we essentially need to bounce the JMS channel so it starts polling again in the event of a JMS Queue Provider bounce but I need to first establish that the JMS Queue was bounced.
Note 1088675 will also be irrelevant cos the channel looks like it re-connects, just doesn't poll.

2 file to file scenarios and one sender channel

i am implementing 2 file to file scenarios. referring to the below link i have 'by-pass' integration repository in order to perform my file to file transfer since both the input and output files have the same structure, hence no mapping is required.

as seen in the link provided above, it is mentioned to provide a 'dummy' interface and namespace as no such things were created in the IR.
Now i have a second development which perform the same task(file 2 file) however the naming and source/target directory for the second one differs fromt eh first.
that is for the first one the source directory is srcroot/folder1/ and for the secon one is srcroot/folder2
the target for the first scenario is trtroot/folder1 and second is trtroot/folder2.
i wanted to use the same sender channel, making use of the advanced features to pick the files from the different directories, however the scenario always put my files, even those from srcroot/folder2, in the first target folder that is in trtroot/folder1 instead of trtroot/folder2.
one easy way of doing this, is to create channels for each scenario, but if possible i want to use one sender channels for both, is that possible for my scenarios?
can anyone please advise me?
if there is a better way, you are welcome to share it with me.

Hi,
You can pick the data using same sender channel.
But there are two ways of putting the files to their corresponding destinatios:
1)Using 'Adapter Specific Message Attribute' in communication channel.
But for this to work you have write UDF in your mapping, but as you are not using IR part, this approach can't be used.
2) Another way is, you can use variable substitution method, where the values of the target directory is populated by payload of the incoming file.
If this is not possible, then there is no way but to define 2 diffrent communication channels for receiver.

File Type: Fixed Length
I am getting below error in Sender Channel.
Error "Conversion of file content to XML failed at position 0: java.lang.Exception: ERROR converting document line no. 2 according to structure 'Item':java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException"
Note:We are using header and Item.Header is not repating and Item should repeate N times.we are using the KeyField Name for both header and Item.
Kindly suggest me the Parameter to use for the sender channel.

the issues has been resolved.
there are so many spaces between the each field data in the source file and i was using the value as SPACE for the parameter Name.fieldSeparator and it taken each space as a data or something else. finally i had removed this parameter and Interfaces works fine now.

P965 Neo-f - primary and secondary ide channel stops working after changing gpu

I just changed my graphic card from 4850 to 4870x2 and then my idd devices stopped working, and when I look in device manager the primary and secondary ide channel has a yellow exclamationmark over them. And the error msg is as follow: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)
And when I look on the tab resources the two I\O range tabs have a red cross like over them probably meaning there is something wrong. And in the column Conflicting devies list: Input/Output Range 01F0 - 01F7 not available.
Input/Output Range 03F6 - 03F6 not available.
What I have tried so far:
Updating the bios, looking for I\o range crashes and irq crashes, uinstalling and reintalling severals times. And when I change back to my old 4850 card the problems disappears straight away.
Any ideas?

Ill bet your graphics doesnt even use its full potential on that board.
Me thinks it severly limited by the board and the cpu and imo a waste of a good graphicscard/money.
Its better to use only 2 slots of mem because of the strain you put on your memorycontroller when using 4 slots.
When running " double dualchannel" the memorycontroller can be overflooded when running too high mem.speeds, with errors and BSOD and crashes as a result.

Channel stopped polling

Hi,
I have two channel configured that uses file adapter to pull files from a ftp server.The general settings in both the channel -FTP parameters,Processing parameters with a polling interval of 300 secs, are same.Both differs only in the specific settings - Content conversion parameters.
But the problem is one channel polls the server every 300secs,but the other not.
This is behaving like this for the first time because it used to poll regularly some time before.
I have checked for the queues,no LUWs.
Refreshed the cache in SXI_Cache - Delta refresh
As a temporary solution,i'm start/stopping the channel every time i saw files piled up in the server.The channel picks all the files seen in the server at the time of restart but after few seconds it fails to poll again,and a restart is required every time the file not picked.
I'm a newbie to XI.Please could anyone help me.
Note : the directory from which it is pulling the file is loaded with too many irrelavant files.Could this be a problem.

FTP sender channel filename issue

Hi ,
I have created a sender FTP channel with Filename Smart_*.csv.
But channel is not picking files from FTP server, even not working for *.csv.
Although when I have mentioned the complete filename in channel, its picking the file from server.

FTP File adapter stops polling

We r using SAP PI 7.0
In File FTP adapter we had set 120 sec polling interval and timeout parameter 120 sec
I have seen 1083488 sap notes even , it shows this patch..
PI 7.0 SP12 ADAPTER FRAMEWORK CORE 7.0
Support Package 12, Patch Level 3 (SAPXIAFC12P_3.SCA)
Can anyone tell more about this error resolution...

Check whether the Adapter Engine is working fine(In RWB). check your coummunication channel in RWB channel monitoring

Mail and attachment (Sender Channel)

Hi,
I receive e-mails with attachments. These are processed correctly because I addad the PayloadSwapBean into the module chain of the communication channel.
Sometimes (when I send an e-mail with attachment from my own e-mail account) the attachment is not processed.
Is there a specific way to send the attachments?

What I meant was that i send email from my account [email protected] to [email protected]
The mail adapter is polling with POP on [email protected]
When I look in the messaging system I find the message

But the emails that are processed correctly also have this message....

Sender JDBC - Stops polling

For some of the sender jdbc channels, we face locking issue. The channel monitor keeps showing same log 'processing Started'. Based on sdn threads, we tried to remove the jdbc lock in Netweaver Administrator. But it didnt work. As per the sap note
Note 1083488 - XI FTP/JDBC sender channel stop polling indefinitely(04/04S), planning to try with taskTimeOut parameter.
But what is the optimal value to be given for this parameter? Then could the Transaction Level be kept to Default? Hope it will not lead to any message loss.
The PI version is 7.1 and service pack level is 4.

A: Please set the receiver channel configuration Exactly Once handling parameters as "local" and "redo". The configuration setting "local" and "error" setting is some times prone to deadlock situations at the DB table level.24.
Also check question 28 in SAP JDBC Adapter Note 831162.

JDBC Sender channel not processing the messages

Hello,
From yesterday onwards JDBC Sender channel not processing the messages. In CC monitoring it is showing in Green Led and status is functioning. Cahnnel is polling for messages to DB server as per polling interval. But it is not processing the msg's. Under Processing detials for cluster node it is showing only "Processing Started" for each polling interval.
I have done the check in DB server by executing the query in the channel, whether there are any records are exisitng or not. There are 1000+ records.
Previously the parameter "Disconnect from DB after processing each message" was not set. I have set the parameter and activated in Productiion. Still the messages are not processing by channel
What was the problem? How to rectify with this.

Check in the Visual Admin >Cluster> "LOCKING ADAPTER"
we get a option of Display Locks .Check for an entry with
NAME : $XIDBAD.JDBC2XI
reset the locks and restart the CC ,now it works fine.

Sender FTP communication channel

Hi experts,
We have had the following problem twice with two different comm channels:
A sender FTP communication channel stops polling for no apparent reason. There were no errors and the status remained green. After I stopped and started the communication channel in the runtime workbench the adapter picked up all the remaining files and processing finished ok.
Anyone had this problem before? Any ideas for a solution?

JDBC Sender Channel polling before polling interval is complete

Hi all,
On our Production Server, we have found that a few JDBC Sender Channels are polling multiple times within one polling interval.
Eg: Suppose for one channel, the polling interval is 7200 secs. It polls once and the polling interval starts. But it polls again 1 or 2 times more maybe just 5 secs later before its next scheduled poll in 7200 secs.
Unfortunately, our scenarios are such that when there are multiple polls within a short span of time, there are data anomolies, causing inconsistancies on Receiver side DB. Hence this is a serious uissue.
Please Help. FYI, all the affected channels run on the same schedule. I am not sure if that can be causing this abnormality.

I have not come across this behavior earlier. But if you are polling same data base using multiple channel at same time data inconsistency can be there. We always prefer to poll the same data base tables with different timings. Setting up poll timings always consider peak loads. Try to change the polls and see if the same behavior exists.

JDBC Comm Channel not Polling data

Hello,
In a JDBC to IDoc scenario, we have a sender JDBC communication channel which was set to poll for data in every 60 sec. It was working fine for long and suddenly it has stopped polling data. It's status was green and the channel was active.We couldn't find the reason so we configured one more comm channel keeping all the parameters same, and it has started working. We couldn't understand why it was not working earlier. Can any body please highlight on this?

Yes, it dont poll data from database although it was supposed to do so. We have tried to make some changes and then undo changes and save+activate. But that hasn't work.
