JDBC thin error
i think i am so close to getting this to work, but another error came out of nowhere.
my java program finds the oracle jdbc drivers but an error saying :
SQLException:java.sql.SQLException:Message file 'oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.Messages' is missing.
i have looked in the dbaccess folder and there are two files names Messages one .class and one .properties
i would be very grateful if someone knew what this means and what I need to do.

a word of "constructive" advice ...
please post details ...
some of the relevant details in your environment include :
jdk version in the client application
jdbc driver version number
jdbc type of connection or the connection string(blank out the userid and password)
rdbms version
application type -- ejb - applet - corba-command line application - servlet - java stored proc or java server pages, etc.
the entire error message
the entire java stack trace or first 10 or so lines of it
and most importantly
what you are attempting to do when the error occurs .. possibly a piece of code that you have isolated the problem to ...
basically you've provided no information for anyone to try to help you on ..
trust me -- providing details really works ...
1) people on forums don't want to waste THEIR time chasing after your information .. you'll go unanswered
2) you're asking people to gaze into a crystal ball and guess what you're doing and what went wrong!! A WASTE OF ENERGY and TIME !!
it's just my two cents worth !!

ashokAshok,
Your database connection URL doesn't look right to me. The default database connection listener port is 1521 (not 9200). You can check this using the "lsnrctl" utility.
To find the "host" and SID parts (of the URL), use the following SQL query:
select HOST_NAME, INSTANCE_NAME from V$INSTANCEGood Luck,

Error Code Definition for JDBC Thin driver
Would like to know where I can find the definition of error codes
for JDBC thin driver to Oracle 7 database. Right now, when I have
database errors, I get SQL execption with CODE=XXXXXX. Need to
know the definition of the error codes in order to decide whether
the application shall retry or quit or do something else. Thank
you in advance.
nullHi,
thin client session Language is controlled by java Locale.
Based on testing code, ORA- messages are localized after the connection is successfully established. ORA- messages returned in the middle of connecting are in instance language.
So, as far as I can say, you need to catch exceptions from DriverManager.getConnection(url, info); and translate them on your own.
Once the connection is successfully returned, ORA- message language is defined by java Locale.
Tests were performed on Oracle 10gR2 (both thin driver and DB). -

I have no problem with my code connecting to an Oracle 8 database, just 9i.
I'm trying to debug in Visual Cafe (JDK 1.1.7) and have both the classes111.zip and the nls_charset11.zip in my CLASSPATH.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. ThanksIf you're using 8i 8.1.7.1 or 8i 8.1.7.0 thin JDBC drivers on NT, then you can get them to connect to 9i by applying the 8i 8.1.7.1 Patch available at:
http://technet.oracle.com/software/tech/java/sqlj_jdbc/htdocs/solsoft.html
You might have to register/login first.
Basically, it's just a case of replacing a class already in your classes111.zip or classes12.zip with the class in the patch.
Took me a while to find this, but it worked first time after patching. Hope this helps. -

Error connection jdbc.thin in JavaApplet
With oci8 driver I connected to my database
but useing jdbc.thin in Applet and in other local program on JAVA - error:
in Applet:
Connecting....
no suitable driver
in local java program:
java.sql.SQLException:The Network Adapter could not establish the connection
What does it mean?
What i must do to connestion? Are you running the Applet off a Webserver ?.
If yes then have the $ORACLE_HOME/jdbc/lib/classes111.zip file
included in the ARCHIVE list for the applet.
The jdbc driver classes are present in the above zip file.
When you run it locally, the zip file is present in the CLASSPATH, and hence it works.
If you are invoking the applet locally without a webserver, using a appletviewer, then having the classes111.zip file in the CLASSPATH is sufficient.
Hope this helps. -

a jdbc thin connection requires a tcp/ip listenrer to be active
on the "server" machine.
in this case it's also your "client" pc.

JDBC thin drivers for oracle 8.0.5 for linux
I want to use Java SDK 1.2.2 and need the oracle thin drivers.
I have trouble with the 816 thin drivers connecting to the 8.0.5
server.
when using statement.executeQuery(..... I get the following
Exception.
Exception error: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-03120: two-task
conversion routine:integer overflow
I think my solution is to upgrade to a 8.1.6 server or use the
java 1.1.6 driver on the JDK1.1.6
I tried downoading the 8.1.5 enterprise server but this fails to
complete.
Can someone help me to this version on CDROM or to the JDBC thin
driver for the 8.0.5 server?
nullYou must include "classes12.zip" instead of "classes111.zip".
Since "classes111.zip" is required only for Java 1
and "classes12.zip" is required for Java 2 which means from J2SE 1.2 on forward.
In adition you might need to inlcude "nls_charset12.zip" as well. Try it first without and if it is not working include it as well.
The required files can you get from the OTN.
This should help

Jdbc oracle jdbc-thin driver subname
I am working on Windows 2000 environment, using oracle8i 8.1.7 JDBC-Thin driver for use with JDK 1.2.x. The oralce8i 8.1.7 database is on another linux box. I can access the linux box through its ip address, but not by its hostname since it's not accessiable by the dns server. In my code, in the JDBCUrl, I used ip address instead of the hostname, e.g. "jdbc:oracle:thin:@10.0.113.108:1521:ora1". But I got the error like: "java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection". If I add a entry in my working machine's hosts file to map the hostname, I can fix the problem. But I don't know if this is the solution, or there is other better solutions.
Thanks
nullUsing a hosts file entry is a common solution for problem where the dns lookup does not contain an entry for a RDBMS server platform.
The real solution is to resolve this issue :

JDBC thin driver and Oracle 8.1.6
Hi,
I have installed Oracle 8.1.6 on Windows NT 4.0 with service pack 4 and using Oracle JDBC thin driver driver (classes111.zip). My application is multithreaded, but each thread maintains its own connection (and own set of Statements). Things are okay in single threaded mode, but in multi threaded mode, I get weird errors!
1. My resultsets are SCROLL_SENTITIVE and UPDATABLE
2. Sometimes, while updating a row, "No current row" SQLException is thrown, although a row exists that satisfies my select criteria
3. I am also calling executeUpdate() for inserting new rows and such rows are not seen by successive resultsets!
Appreciate any hints! Thanks!Try this isntead.
java -classpath d:\jdbc\classes12.zip;. jdbccheckup
an error occured:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:jdbccheckup

I think Oracle JDBC Thin driver has many problems
I developed application & applet using Oracle JDBC/Thin Drivers
for use with JDK 1.2 and SUN JDK 1.2.2.
In my computer, application runs correctly.
On the other hand, applet isn't run and throws error "Cannot
find class java/util/Map" on connecting to Oracle database.
You know, java/util/Map class is only in SUN JDK 1.2.x and
current web-browsers (for example, IE5.0, Netscape 4.7, ...)
don't support Java Run time 1.2.x.
I think this is very critial problem.
So I tried with Oracle JDBC/Thin Drivers for use with JDK 1.1.x
and SUN JDK 1.1.8. (Now SUN only supports JDK 1.1.8 in JDK 1.1.x
series)
But this time, applet throws error "Cannot find class javax/..."
You know, JDK 1.1.8 doesn't have javax/... classes but early JDK
1.1.x series had javax/.... classes.
May be Oracle JDBC/Thin Drivers for use with JDK 1.1.x are made
using these early JDK 1.1.x series, so I think Oracle JDBC/Thin
Drivers for use with JDK 1.1.x can't be used with SUN JDK 1.1.8.
Whatever is the matter!
nullYou need to remote onto the server and go into start->control panel-Administration-> ODBC (or sometimes start->administration->ODBC) and set up ODBC connections . Make sure you set them up on the system tab, then you should see them in EAS. I don't remember, b ut don't think you need to restart the Essbase servise for them to take effect

Vij,
Assuming that Personal Oracle is up and running, you should check that the listener is running and listening on the port you are using.
You can check the status with the following command (from the DOS prompt): lsnrctl status
If the listener is not running start it with this command: lsnrctl start listener
You can also have it start automatically by modifying the registry entry LISTENER_STARTUP to "AUTO"
(HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ORACLE\HOME0)
Hope this helps

Hi Everyone,
Please let me know whether the JDBC thin driver 10.1.0.3 Driver compatible with the oracle server 10G version 10.2.0.2.0? We are facing some issues with the compatibility.
The Errors we are getting is : StaleConnectionException while we are using the driver from the Websphere.
Please let us know..Very Urgent.
Thanks in Advance,
Samuel.

user637857Hi Legatti,
Thanks for taking time out and replying me.
We dont know the reason why that error is being caused. Because the error is caused on the production we are not able to make any trail and errors. If we are sure that the driver compatibility is causing the error then we can go ahead and download the latest driver. If the latest driver will solve the problem we have to convince the client that the error is caused due to the incompatible driver. So if you have any documents/information supporting that please help.
Thanks
Samuel.
