JDev 10.1.3 and JDK1.2.2 use javac problem

I have an old application that I need to compile in 1.2.2, and have tried the "use javac" checkbox on the project properties compile page. The compiler seems to run, but there is an intential error in the code. I put it there, because the class file didn't seem to get generated. I tried this on command line, and apparently '-source' is an invalid option in 1.2.2.
E:\jdk1.2.2\bin\javac.exe -J-mx512m -verbose -source 1.2 -target 1.2 -encoding Cp1252 -g -classpath E:\jdk1.2.2\jre\lib\rt.jar;E:\jdk1.2.2\jre\lib\i18n.jar;E:\jdk1.2.2\jre\classes;E:\app\codebase;E:\oracle\jdev1013\j2ee\home\lib\ojsp.jar;E:\oracle\jdev1013\j2ee\home\jsp\lib\taglib\ojsputil.jar;E:\oracle\jdev1013\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar;E:\oracle\jdev1013\j2ee\home\lib\oc4j-internal.jar;E:\oracle\jdev1013\j2ee\home\lib\servlet.jar;E:\oracle\jdev1013\jdev\lib\ojc.jar -sourcepath E:\app\src -d E:\PTC\Windchill\codebase @C:\DOCUME~1\gteft\LOCALS~1\Temp\javac30279.tmp
[1:53:55 PM] Successful compilation: 0 errors, 0 warnings.
Has anyone else run into this?
Any help or thoughts on how to adjust this behavior for 1.2.2's javac would be appreciated.

Thank you for responding. I am aware of (and frustrated by) issues and limitations due to this application's dependancies on an aging platform, and would upgrade if it were my choice. The dependancy is in the vendor's API, and not in code that I can change.
As the invalid option was not captured as a message or counted as an error, I thought that perhaps this could be a potential issue for using javac with any version.
I was hoping to see if there were additional settings controlling the command line options that I couldn't find.
Thanks,
Greg

Try rather using the 1.4 version available here: http://java.sun.com/j2ee/1.4/

  • I have a Roland A-90 ex midi thru M-Audio prokeys 88 into an iMac and have Logic Pro 9, Sibelius 6 and Miroslav Philharmonik to use. Problem is that in all three applications the midi key OFF does not work on the odd occasion and a note STICKS.

When I play the keys, every now and then the note off command does not seem to work and I'll hit a note and it will stay sustained, stuck as if. I cannot turn it off. Tried everything , preferences and all the usual things. Any ideas?

    Pancenter...
Yes... but I have come across some setups that came with a native SL (and even one Lion!) installation.. that somehow had a corrupted or older Prokit installed for some unknown reason... and given it's a quick fix to try.. I thought I'd mention it..
I frankly don't think it is entirely a Prokit issue itself, but it wouldn't do any harm to try and install v7 just in case it is part of the problem...
    +1 on the UAD stuff....
Also, at the time it crashed... according to the logs...the OP was running Ableton Live at the same time, presumably rewired with Logic... so add all that together with UAD plugins... and that's quite a load on the system...
Finally in thread 32 there is a weird exception msg relating to the Trash2 plugin.. that I haven't seen before...

  • JDeveloper 3.1 and JDK1.2.2: are they REALLY compliant?

    Hi,
I've already been developing in JDev 3.0 using Java 1.1.8 for a few months and have a number of EJB's deployed in an Oracle8i 8.1.5 database. These are accessed by a servlet which is called from a C++ application in order to populate the db tables. I'm using Java Webserver 2.0 and everything works fine.
I've been upgrading to Java 2 with JDev 3.1, Oracle 8i R2, and JDK1.2.2. Everything again works fine when I am testing and debugging in the JDev 3.1 IDE but when I deploy to the Web server, my context lookup for the EJB published name freezes, returns an error status to the C++ app but does not display any error/exception msgs in the server console/log files.
On investigating I found that the java.exe bundled with JDev 3.1 as the JDK1.2.2 version is actually NOT the java.exe that has been dispatched with the release version of JDK1.2.2! There are however two files in the bin directory of the JDK1.2.2 called oldjava.exe and oldjavaw.exe which correspond to the ones bundled with JDev 3.1?
Could someone please explain what is going on? As it stands at the moment the version of java.exe with JDK1.2.2 does not work for my EJB's but if I replace it with the oldjava.exe, it works fine. Does this mean that JDev 3.1 is NOT actually JDK1.2.2 compliant or have I done something wrong?
This is potentially a major problem for our projects so if anyone at Oracle has any info it would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers
    Dave

All the names are correct on 8i deployment. And all necessary files are on classpath, (including the EJB source and generated jars, that are also in the /lib on the context dochome).
    Any thoughts?

Much appreciated your reply, I used both Windows and Unix system and Ant to build EJB, both CLASSPATH and PATH are configured to Jdk 1.5 version.
CLASSPATH=C:\bea\jdk150_06\lib and PATH=C:\bea\jdk150_06\bin, and verify that it is 1.5 not 1.4 version.

  • Post jDev 903 cleanup: Classpath and Path.

Having installed the new [complete set] 9.0.3 and having decided NOT use 9.0.2 or other developer suite tools, it's time to clean up my path and classpath settings.
Please help me sort it all out. Thanks.
Per instructions I did not install the new 9.0.3 into any existing oracle_home. The home_dir for the 9.0.2 and complete suite is: E:\Programs\OraDevSuite.
My Classpath has three entries: (formatted for easy reading on the forum.)
    CLASSPATH=
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jlib\bigraphbean.jar;
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jlib\LW_PfjBean.jar;
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jlib\bigraphbean-nls.zip
Questions: 1. Can (Should) I throw these out? 2. Do I need anything else in the classpath? (The java command line uses the -classpath parameter anyhow.)
Here are the PATH settings (in the order maintained by the os). This really needs to be cleaned up. I have added my question on each line. Sounds like alot of questions but many are the same type.
    Path=
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\bin; (Old suite: Good-bye?)
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jdk\jre\bin; (Old suite: Good-bye?)
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jdk\jre\bin\classic; (Old suite: Good-bye?)
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jdk\jre\bin\classic; (Old suite: Good-bye?)
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\jlib; (Old suite: Good-bye?)
    E:\Programs\OraDevSuite\bin; (Old suite: Good-bye?)
E:\ORACLE\bin; ( How do I verify if this is needed by 9iDB or OEM?)
C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.3.1\bin; ( Since 9.0.3 comes with its own can I REMOVE this FROM THE DISK? )
    C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.1.8\bin; ( Can I remove this from the disk? )
    C:\WINDOWS\system32;
    C:\WINDOWS;
    C:\My Programs\Java\sdk1_3\bin; ( Can I remove this from my disk? )
    **********THANK YOU!**************
    -Nat

If you downloaded the full version of 9.0.3 Dev Preview (the 160MB sized-one), then it's completely self-contained. Just unzip it and go. Anything else can be removed.
If you downloaded the "base" version, then you'll need to keep a JDK 1.3 around and edit your .\jdev\bin\jdev.conf file to SetJavaHome to point at your JDK home location.

  • JDev 10.1.3 and Tortoise CVS interoperability question

    Greetings:
I am using jdev 10.1.3 and when I check out a project from CVS I am not able to update or commit files with tortoise. I used to be able to do this and it was very handy, now when I try to update or commit any files with Tortoise I get the following error:
cvs.exe [update aborted]: the :ssh2#key='C:\Documents and Settings\troy\id_bull': access method is not installed on this system
does anyone know how to make this work with the CVS built in to JDEV?
    Thanks
    Troy

If it use to work I would reinstall Tortoise. The error suggest that the CVS client is not installed.

  • JDev 11.1.2 and SOA

The announcement of JDev 11.1.2 has the following note: Important Note - This version of JDeveloper doesn't include the SOA and WebCenter pieces - to use these components you'll need to download Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0.
What is the status of SOA as regards 11.1.2 or is there to be a branching of the product with one branch to support SOA (11.1.1.n) and the other branch to support JavaEE apps (11.1.2)?
    Thanks for clarification - Casey

    Casey,
As far as I know, the next major release of JDev (12g?) will bring the SOA/Webcenter stuff back in. So for now, yes you have 11.1.2 for ADF/JSF/etc and 11.1.1.5/11.1.1.x for SOA/Webcenter

  • Difference between jdk1.3 and jdk1.4 and jdk1.5

    Hi All
1: I wud like to know the difference between jdk1.3 and jdk1.4 and jdk1.5. I could not recoginze the correct answer for this.. mostly i need the added advantages for version of JDK..
2: I wud also like to know difference in J2SE and J2EE.
    Thanks in advance

while I can't tell you exclusively the differences, other than more methods have been added and some have been deprecated, from version to version, that is at least one difference.
I know several like me are reluctant at the moment to jump on up to 1.5, for fear of (and reasonably so) making their current apps go haywire!
Mine did just the other day when I tried to upgrade the JDK from 1.4.0 to 1.4.2.12!! It hosed everything.
J2SE is the Standard Environment, and J2EE is the Enterprise environment, which at the very least allows for things like the java Mail interface, using servlets and classes with the HTTP environment!
I'm sure many other posters could more accurately and specifically give you some other criterion of differences and advantages.

  • Dialogs and JDK1.6.0_10

Hm. I have seen this like four times now; a user opens a dialog in any form (JDialog or glasspane) on top of a JFrame, the EDT is blocked and a new event pump is installed to continue painting, as things should be. However the dialog is not drawn and the frame freezes since you cannot close the dialog. Has anyone else had such an experience?
Naturally this happens very rarely, like once or twice a week (with an average of 25 active users at any time). But if it happens and I pull the stack trace, I do not see anything wrong. AFAIK from the trace, the dialog should have been visible... A stack trace is below:

No shared spaces configured.Do note that the AWT-EventQueue-1 has installed a new event pump like it should for a new JDialog. The org.tbee.swing.EventQueue does nothing more than examining mouse click and uses that to install a popup menu on any swing component (copy, paste, etc). It has been used unchanged for two years now. The change would be the JRE.
I've rolled back to 1.6.0_01, since that is what was used before and I'll monitor if the problem goes away.

    Hi,
I've experienced something very similar to what you describe under JRE 1.6.0_10. I've rolled back to 1.6.0_03 and this appears to work thus far. When displaying a JDialog sometimes the dialog contents do not paint - the border is drawn but the contents of the dialog are not. JButtons present on the dialog work when clicked but are not drawn. Operation continues as normal when the dialog is closed and if the user closes the dialog and re-opens it then the problem does not repeat. The problem is very intermittent, occuring every couple days.
We're using XP on Dell Optiplex PCs in case there is some link to the hardware here?
I'd be very grateful if you would let me know if you manage to identify the cause of this problem. I will of course do the same. I'd really like to be able to ship my software with JRE 1.6.0_10 or later as these releases fix a long standing bug in the JFileChooser.
    Best regards

  • Jdev 10.1.3 and JSF  "comandlink component" don't work with Data filter

I´m working in JSF with Jdeveloper 10.1.3 and Oc4j .
    I have a problem.
I have .jspx where display employees of the company.
The field employeeid have "comandlink component" with action "control.editemployee"
when I fetch all data comandlink work OK.
But I filter data by field, example Employee name Command link not work
    Help me, please.

    thanks
i'm a little bit confused by the fact that jsf in 10.1.3 preview use managed bean (instead of data control) to get/put data from the model layer.
we are using entity bean and session facade. In 9.0.5.2 we are using dto and data control to generate our jsp.
we are currently testing/discovering jsf and search the best way to efficiently generate our ui's
what is right way for jsf
    a) managed bean (if it is possible with session bean)
    b) data control when/if available
    and why ?

  • ER unable to compile using javac with java 1.3.1 library (JDEV 10.1.3.0.4)

    Hi !
When I try to compile in JDev with javac and the java 1.3.1 library, I get the following error :
    Error: javac: invalid flag: -source
The command line generated by JDev looks like :
    C:\jdk1.3.1_03\bin\javac.exe -J-mx512m -verbose -deprecation -source 1.3 -target 1.3 -encoding Cp1252 -g -classpath [...] -sourcepath [...] -d [...] @C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\javac54193.tmp
It seems that -source and -target flags do not exist in this version of javac.
But it does not seem possible to remove these flags generated by JDev, so I'm unable to compile with javac 1.3.1 and JDev.
    So i'm looking for :
    - A workaround to prevent JDev from adding the -source and -target flags.
    - A future release of JDev where you could disable these flags, or, much better, where JDev automatically disables these flags when it detects a 1.3.1 library (there may be other incompatible flags I did not mention).
Thank you for your answers :)

    Hi,
when you open the project properties and choose the compiler option to tht the compiler to "javac" and then the "source" and "target" to 1.3, wouldn't this compile it for Java 3? I don't think that it is necesary to use JDK 1.3 for compiling the sources
    Cross-Compilation Options
By default, classes are compiled against the bootstrap and extension classes of the platform that javac shipped with. But javac also supports cross-compiling, where classes are compiled against a bootstrap and extension classes of a different Java platform implementation. It is important to use -bootclasspath and -extdirs when cross-compiling; see Cross-Compilation Example below.
    -target version
Generate class files that will work on VMs with the specified version. The default is to generate class files to be compatible with the 1.2 VM in the Java 2 SDK. The versions supported by javac in the Java 2 SDK are:
    1.1
Ensure that generated class files will be compatible with 1.1 and VMs in the Java 2 SDK.
    1.2
Generate class files that will run on VMs in the Java 2 SDK, v 1.2 and later, but will not run on 1.1 VMs. This is the default.
    1.3
Generate class files that will run on VMs in the Java 2 SDK, v 1.3 and later, but will not run on 1.1 or 1.2 VMs.
    1.4
Generate class files that are compatible only with 1.4 VMs.
