JDeveloper on Mac

Hi
when i tried to download JDeveloper i got three options 1 for windows, 1 for Linux and 3 for other platforms so if i use Mac should i download the
third option ?
and does it have same features ? does it have UML Features, data base Engineering Features ?
and the applications developed by it will it work on all platforms ?
im new in JDeveloper and Java
Regards

Java is platform independent. It will work in all platforms
jdeveloper is based on Java. So It also works in all platforms..
Jdeveloper for windows, linux and mac looks same and got same features.
So you can download mac version and use it..

  • What are the code completion keys in JDeveloper on Mac?

    Does anybody know which key combinations to use for code completion in the Java editor in JDeveloper on a Mac?

    I found out myself. The default key combination (<ctrl>+ space) does not work on my Mac, it pops-up the menu of VMWare Fusion.
    So I assigned another key combination under Preferences->Shortcut Keys. The auto-complete commands to be re-asigned are "Completion Insight" and "Smart Completion Insight".

    i am not able to instal jdeveloper on my macbook air which has mavericks 10.9.3 version please help me

    If it originally shipped with 10.6.8 or earlier, install iPhoto from the computer's original disks. If you don't have those, ask the seller for them or phone AppleCare and order replacements.
    If it originally shipped with 10.7 or newer, upgrade the computer to Mac OS X 10.9. If you don't want to upgrade it, go to the Mac App Store main page, choose Support under Quick Links, contact Apple, and see what they say.

  • Trouble installing Jdeveloper on mac os X

    I have downloaded the .jar-file to install Jdeveloper 11g on my mac. I have also installed the latest JDK-kit, I think. It's a little difficult to understand, but I downloaded it from Appels site and when I look under the specified place, Java SE 6 64 is at the top.
    I've tried to follow the installation instructions but get stuck all the time, it's a tad to technical for me since I'm not a hacker yet!
    This is what the instruction says: "To streamline your installation process, the JDK you wish to use with the product should be the one you use to start the installer program. In that case, be sure the desired JDK is the first one in your system PATH, or reference it explicitly on the command line."
    I don't know what first in your system path is, or how I reference it on the command line. Thats the first problem.
    I don't know what it means when it says : "To launch the platform-independent installer, enter: java -jar jdevstudio11113install.jar." Enter where???
    I've tried dubbel clicking on the install file and it seems to be working al right untill I come to the JDK Selection part. Here I've tried browsing and selecting every map that has something to do with java, but all I get is that is't not the right "home" or what ever. I've tried googling it and found the pathways people have used, but nothing works! I've found the "hat contains the child folder bin, which in turn contains java.exe." but I have no .exe-file, since it's a mac.. I've found a file that's called 1.6.0.jdk that's in a folder caller Java Virtual Machine, but it doesn't work.
    I really need help!!

    Yes, very many times. However, the instructions there are for after installing. But, since nothing else works, I tried that to and couldn't get it to work ether.. Not my day.
    I can't enable the root user, because I have no Edit meny in my Directory Utility application, I have tried for over an hour with that. My menues doesn't have that button.
    And, I also cant understand if I write in all the
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/
    su root
    mkdir jre
    cd jre
    mkdir lib
    cd lib
    ln -s ../../../Classes/classes.jar rt.jar
    at the same time, or if I hit the return key for every line break..
    I'm feeling quite stupid now..

  • JDeveloper for Mac Download Error

    The Mac JDeveloper download just loads the gz file into a webpage
    and does not invoke download manager. Is there an issue here? I
    posted this problem 10 days ago but have not recieved a response
    yet. This is still happening. Thanks,
    Kathy Myers

    Thanks Mark. Only all of your other otn downloads work fine
    on this same computer / webbrowser.
    The Mac JDeveloper download is different. I'm not sure saving
    the contents of the webpage to a file will work. It never seems
    to quit loading the page, so I'm not sure when it's OK to save
    the data to a file.

  • Can I have multiple versions of JDeveloper on Mac?

    Hi,
    Can I have multiple versions of JDeveloper on one Mac, like Windows?
    I have JDeveloper 11.1.2.2.0 (11.1.2.2.39.61.83) on Mac and want to install 11.1.2.3.0.
    Is there any considerations/notes if any?

    Timo & Vinod,
    Thank you for your input. I'll try it out, then.
    Regards,
    nTimo & Vinod are exactly right - you'll simply have to create a new Middleware home. (At current count, I have four different JDev versions running on my own Mac.)
    The only thing to note will be the creation of a new "system11.xxx" directory in the hidden ~/.jdeveloper directory where the installer places the files for the integrated weblogic server/domain.

  • Problems applying updates in JDeveloper on Mac

    Whenever I run the "Check for Updates..." I get a message box stating " Some updates have already been installed since JDeveloper was started. It is strongly recommended that JDeveloper is restarted before additional updates are installed. If you proceed, installed patches and extensions may not work properly. Are you sure you want to check for updates?" . I clicked on "No" , restarted JDeveloper, invoked "Check for Updates..." and got the same message. I also uninstalled and reinstalled JDeveloper. The problem persists
    The message box by itself is not a big problem. The main issue is that whenever I install new components, these are not recognized by JDeveloper even after restart. I'm trying to install ADF Mobile extensions. I tried downloading/installing from the Update Center as well installing from local file with no success (ADF Mobile is not showing under the Preferences window) . I've also tried extracting the contents of adf-mobile_bundle.zip under jdev/extensions . Despite the fact that the ADF Mobile jar files are under the extension directory , ADF Mobile is still not showing under the Preferences window.
    I'm using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0 . I enabled the Studio Developer role when JDev is launched. I'm running OS X 10.8.2 .
    Thanks in advance for any inputs or pointers to the solution of this problem

    I tried deleting the contents of $HOME/jdeveloper . Unfortunately , this did not resolved the problem. I renamed the hidden directory $HOME/.jdeveloper which temporarily got rid of the message "Some updates have already been installed since..." I tried installing ADF Mobile. I restarted JDev , checked under "Preferences" but ADF Mobile still didn't show up. I tried "Check for updates..." once again and get the message "Some updates have already been installed since..." again.
    I've looked under $HOME/.preferences and found the file jdeveloper-deferred-updates.xml with the following contents
    temp=/Users/rzagni/.jdeveloper/tmp/update++
    globalExtensionsHome=/Users/rzagni/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/jdev/extensions
    patchesHome=/Users/rzagni/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/jdev/lib//patches
    userExtensionsHome=/Users/rzagni/.jdeveloper/extensions
    globalSettingsHome=/Users/rzagni/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/jdev/lib/
    userSettingsHome=/Users/rzagni/.jdeveloper//lib
    oracleHome=/Users/rzagni/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/
    bundlesInfoHome=/Users/rzagni/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/configuration
    InstallExtensionTask=/Users/rzagni/Desktop/adf-mobile_bundle.zip,/Users/rzagni/Oracle/Middleware/jdeveloper/..,false,oracle.adf.mobile
    It seems that JDev is not able to install the extension. Any clues ?

    if you're trying to install office 2011 via cd/dvd and having a hard time - try this - go to microsoft and download office 2011 from there and install it once the download is done and type in your product code when it ask for it..
    also if you're running mountain lion - go here - system preferences - privacy and security - general - allow applications downloaded from - put a dot on anywhere...

  • WTF ? Where's JDK ? Struggling to Install JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.4.0)

    Hi Everyone !
    I"m struggling to re-install JDeveloper 11g (11.1.2.4.0) in my Mac OS X Mountain Lion (Version 10.8.4). Can someone please assist me with this issue ? I believe I might have ran into this, with an earlier version; but recently had computer problems and to wipe my system and upgrade my HDD and Memory. So, I'm back to square one and need to install this pursue my independent Java 7 programming self-lessons.
    If this questions seems trivial or beneath you, I apologize in advance. I'm just a newbie wishing to improve myself through the acquisition of new I.T. skills.
    God Bless.

    Frederick ,
    May I know what is the error that you are encountering ? .  Hope the below info might help you
    nstallation on Mac OS
    Some additional steps are required to install JDeveloper on Mac OS beyond what is documented in the installation guide. Please refer to the installation guide (http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E26098_01/install.1112/e17074/toc.htm) for additional details on installing JDeveloper for Mac OS X.
    1. Make Java 6 the default VM.
    Run Java Preferences (in /Applications/Utilities/Java)
    Move the Java SE 6 (64 Bit) to the top of the Java application versions list (General tab)
    2. Create a symbolic link for classes.jar (requires root access)
    To enable root user:
    For Mac OS versions older than Snow Leopard, simply open the Directory Utility app from Applications - Utility
    For Mac OS versions Snow Leopard and more recent:Go to System Preferences - Users and Groups. Click Login Options, and then the Join button (enable configuration changes if necessary). Then, proceed by clicking Open Directory Utility.
    Ensure the settings are unlocked (click the lock if necessary)
    Choose Edit > Enable Root User and provide the root user password.
    Note, you can return to this same screen to disable root user after creating the symbolic link
    Create the symbolic link from a terminal session:
    Note: You may need to repeat the steps to create the symbolic link after installing a new JDK.An additional step is required to successfully run applications on Mac systems that have Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 4 installed (8681385):
    Open the jdev.conf file. The file is located in the MW_HOME/jdeveloper/jdev/bin/ directory.
    Add the following line to the jdev.conf file: AddVMOption -Djava.io.tmpdir=/var/tmp
    Thanks

  • How to install ADF Mobile extension to JDeveloper on OSX 10.8.2

    Using the info from the following discussion thread it was pretty straightforward to install jdeveloper to OSX 10.8.2.
    Re: Jdeveloper install on os x lion (10.7.5)
    as well as the blog posts
    http://adf4beginners.blogspot.be/2012/10/installing-jdeveloper-on-mac-osx-108.html
    https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/installing_jdeveloper_on_mac_os
    Now the issue is that when I try to install the ADF Mobile extension I run into problems:
    I tried installing both directly from the update centres as well as from local file, but the
    only extension available after restart is the "ADF Mobile Help" (oracle.adf.mobile.doc).
    I can also see from the startup console a lot of warning messages of type as indicated below.

    As a matter of fact it seems like several postings in blogs and discussion forums touch this area.
    Just wonder if we could smooth this process a bit.
    issuing this command sequence, did the trick:
    sudo mkdir -p /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/jre/lib
    cd /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/Home/jre/lib
    sudo ln -s /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6.0/classes/classes.jar rt.jar

  • Oracle 9i Client on Mac OS X

    Is there a way to just install the Oracle client on Mac OS 10.2.7? I don't want the full database server running - and just need the drivers to connect to an Oracle instance in our corporation.
    Please let me know - everything I've seen from the download and installations seems to be around running Oracle itself.
    Thanks.

    Yes I run JDeveloper on MAC OS X and it works very well apart from UML and iSQL. It makes a good development tool.
    I have had no propblems using the Oracle 9i JDBC driver to talk to the Oracle dastabase on the MAC from a number of downloadable front end tools and apps. I see no reason why this would not work to connect to the database on another machine/platform.

    Hi again user,
    I checked the installation guide, and it had information for installing on macintosh... I don't have a mac, so I cannot comment if the instructions are correct. I'm pasting the unix and mac instructions to see if it might help you.

    JDeveloper is provided as a self-contained application bundle. An installer is not required.
    You must update your Mac OS X SDK to Java Sun version 1.5 release 1 or later for use with JDeveloper. Use Mac OS X Software Update or download from http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/java2se50release1.html .
    To install JDeveloper from jdevstudio10131.dmg:
    1. Mount the JDeveloper 10.1.3.1.0 Disk Image by double-clicking the .dmg file.
    2. Drag the JDeveloper application to a location on your hard drive; for example, Applications.
    3. Start JDeveloper by double-clicking the JDeveloper application.
