JDeveloper -- Plug-In(Webgrid)

Hi,
I am using JDeveloper 11g(11.1.2.3.0), Oracle Database 11.2.0.3. I did not discover a component, besides
the ADF table or tree, for loading dynamic data from the database. The ADF table is restricted in its functions.
So, my question is: Is there a JDev built-in component or plug-in that offers more flexibility; i.e. selecting a cell via
radio button (mouse hover, click) and adding the selected values of that cell to a shopping cart? Also
formatting is important; i.e. different colors for the headers and cells, etc.
Something like an interactive calendar or web grid(matrix).
Links greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

A. Maybe I did not dig deep enough into the table component.
The ADF table is restricted in its functions.
Please tell us where you see the restriction in more detail.B. This part of the application is a core business element. As I stated, this needs to be interactive for the user. No, I mean selection of a cell, not a row.
No editing, only selecting. Probably Java Script would be needed here?
selecting a cell via radio button (mouse hover, click)
I don't understand this requirement, so please elaborate on how you would select a cell via a radio button. Or do you mean to select a row of a table?C. OK. Is there a tutorial on this?
Also formatting is important; i.e. different colors for the headers and cells, etc.
you can do this using styles on each cell. The style can be calculated in a bean method. This way it can dynamically change for each cell, depending on the content.I will take a look at the FOD sample.
Thanks!

    Mark,
    I will pass your contact information to the manager of the Jdev BPEL dev team and make sure that you get an offer to participate in the private beta program.
    Between now and then, you could download the 2.0.11 server and 0.96 build that we will push out tomorrow and start kicking the tires: the project source files are compatible between the JDev version and the Eclipse version.

  • Does jDeveloper support activity links?

    I have tried jDev 10.1.3.3 as well as 11g tech preview 4.
    Does jDeveloper support modeling of activity links? I can't seem to find that anywhere. An example of how links are used:
    <flow ...>
    <links>
    <link name="checkFlight-To-BookFlight" />
    </links>
    <documentation>
    check availability of a flight, hotel and rental car concurrently
    </documentation>
    <invoke name="checkFlight" ...>
    <sources>
    <source linkName="checkFlight-To-BookFlight" />
    </sources>
    </invoke>
    <invoke name="checkHotel" ... />
    <invoke name="checkRentalCar" ... />
    <invoke name="bookFlight" ...>
    <targets>
    <target linkName="checkFlight-To-BookFlight" />

    An article http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2006/10/20/benefit-from-concurrent-flows-and-activity-links-in-bpel-ws/ mentions that "Oracle BPEL designer (JDeveloper plug-in) doesn’t support it yet, although it is supported run-time by the Oracle BPEL engine". The article is from 2006, is this still the case?

    Yes.  You just can't use the YouTube widget.  You need to go to the Youtube page and get the embed code and add that to the standard HTML snippet in iWeb.

  • JSR 168 support on production environment??

    Hello Oracle people,
    when are you going to support JSR168 portlets in you Oracle Portal?? Where is the money customers pay you for working? not enough? What do we do with this piece of closed source box you gave us if you can not be ahead many other open source (free) products? Can you stand the pace? you say "we support standards"... and I see you are falling behind.

    you should be demanded because of the way you assure support of the JSR168 in your executive brochures... Any layer out there who can help?
    Look this question and how Oracle answers:
    Does Oracle Portal support JSR 168 and WSRP?
    Oracle has been an active member of the standards bodies and been instrumental in the process of defining these portal interoperability standards:
    * JSR-168: Defines how Java developers should write portlets using standard APIs.
    * OASIS WSRP (Web Services for Remote Portlets): Defines the communication protocol between a portal application and the remote portlet./li>
    Oracle fully supports the JSR 168 portlet specification. You can develop JSR 168 portlets using the Java Portlet Wizard, a JDeveloper plug-in. You can also deploy JSR 168 portlets to Oracle's or any other vendor's JSR 168 Java Portlet Container. Portlets deployed to Oracle's container are exposed to portals through WSRP, and can be registered against any portal vendor's WSRP compliant portal. The current version of Oracle Portal (Oracle Portal 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)) does not support WSRP, but you can register and test standard portlets using the OracleAS Portal Developer's Preview for Portlet Standards or the hosted WSRP compliant portal on http://portalstandards.oracle.com. You find additional information about Oracle and Portal standards on http://portalstandards.oracle.com.
    When there is a simple answer: NO we do not support the JSR168 in Oracle Portal. We do a lot of other things... see this and that. But sadly our Oracle Portal does not support it, you can test a preview version but if it crashes its your problem (we proudly do very expensive closed source :).

  • Jsp performance

    This is Harsha , Hyderabad. this is regarding the issues/ doubts that we have with Oracle Portal Server and portlets.
    The scenario is we have a JSP page in which we are calling four portlets. Based on the User role the JSP view will be changed. Hence the JSP contains if else blocks and based on the user role respective portlet will be invoked.
    We are facing an issue where when a user logs in, the display is taking approx. 9 secs and on subsequent visits within the same login, it is taking less time. This is true even when the user logs out and logs back in. We are not clear if the portal server is trying to recompile the page on each login. To verify this, we want to know where the compiled JSP’s (Class files) will reside. The Portlets are simple templates. The portlets that we have are menu bar, banner, left navigation and footer.
    Also we want to know that if it is possible to use <jsp: include> tag in a JSP in oracle portal server? If yes then how to give the file path. We have observed that in Oracle portal server whenever we want to call a JSP it is taking the display name and when we try to give the display name in the <jsp:include> it is giving an error.
    We are using Oracle 10g and we don’t have JDeveloper Plugged to it.

  • How to do memory profiling remotely???

    Hi,
    We are using JDeveloper 10g (10.1.2.1.0) and Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) to deploy our web application, its running on a Solaris OS. We would like to know how to make a remote memory profiling for this configuration. JDeveloper help is very ambiguous, and very short.
    Anybody could help us a little bit with this? How we can configure OC4J JVM to attend remote memory profiling requests? How we can connect and run the JDeveloper memory profiling extension over this OC4J JVM?....
    Thanks in advanced.

    Nice to read it ;-)
    Any other option to profile memory remotely on Solaris and OC4J JVM? Maybe any JDeveloper plugging or any standalone recommendable product? Or I could thinking in cutting my veins already?
    Thanks for your answer.

  • Plug-in Builder not showing up in JDeveloper

    Following instructions here: Plug-in Builder
    Under the "Installing Plug-in Builder into an Existing JDeveloper Instance" section, I successfully get to Step 7, at which point "EM Plug-in Builder" is not an option on the Preferences page.  I've also tried creating a new project per instructions in the next section, but "Enterprise Manager Plug-in" is not an option in the Categories section of the New Gallery window.

  • Jupiter Plug-in for JDeveloper for doing effective code reviews?

    Hi all,
    Can some body comment on the availability of an effective code review tool that can be used with -
    a) JDeveloper as a IDE and
    b) Can work with ADE as a version control tool?
    My team is currently trying to understand if Jupiter, which is an Eclipse based plug-in, can serve as a possible solution for the same.
    Request you all to answer a) and b) w.r.t Jupiter and also suggest alternatives, if any.

  • How can i plug in OC4J 10.1.2 into JDEveloper 10.1.3

    Is there a guide to install OC4J 10.1.2 into JDeveloper 10.1.3.
    Our production environment is 10.1.2 and we would like to use JDeveloper 10.1.3 however projects must be run under JDK 1.5 which we do not want. Our development is all done in J2EE 1.3 which means we can go as high JDK 1.4. And we do not want to develop in JDK 1.5 and then later build in 1.4.
    Any suggestions ??

    Thanks for the response.
    J2EE 1.3 apps should work in a J2EE 1.4 server however we have to set the JDK to 5.0 for OC4J 10.1.3 server to work! We get errors otherwise...specifically with datasources and spring bean initialization as well as some jsp cannot be found errors.
    Here isthe problems we are facing summarized
    1) I have set our environment to use J2EE 1.3 libraries and jdk 1.4 (so its compatible with OC4J 10.1.2) however the embedded OC4J server isn't running the app because
    - JDK 5.0 is REQUIRED
    - Datasources in 10.1.2 don't work in 10.1.3
    - we have some spring datasource initialization which doesn't work either
    Question
    If we develop in jdk 5.0 will the application run in J2EE 1.3 environment properly. What happens if a developer uses some method or class which is only available in 5.0. Wouldn't we have problems here ? OC4J 10.1.2 wouldn't necessarily support 5.0 applications and we don't want to compile in a different JDK at build time...its just more overhead and not a desirable solution.
    My goal is to develop entirely in J2EE 1.3 environment which means with JDK 1.4 BUT i would like our developers to be able to run our applications without too many changes in the embedded OC4J server 10.1.3...which i'm thinking isn't possible!
    Would you have any suggestions to resolve this problem ? or is it best to stick to Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.2 which we don't prefer either.
    The "watched" features you mention does it support exploded deployments, we definetly do not want to be deploying everytime a developer needs to test their changes and be able to run the app directly within JDeveloper. Is there any documentation on this ? I don't think OC4J supports this which is a major drawback to development like Eclipse and Tomcat do.
    Sorry for the long post. Any help would be much appreciated.

  • First release of new DPL Assistant, an IDE plug-in

    We are pleased to announce the first version of a new component. "DPL
    Assistant" is an IDE plug-in that is intended to help developers use,
    and learn to use, the Direct Persistence Layer of Oracle Berkeley DB
    Java Edition. The DPL Assistant is initially provided as an Eclipse
    plug-in.
    This first version of the plug-in performs validation of DPL
    annotations in Java source code. Each time you save changes from the
    Java source code editor, the validator analyzes annotations (@Entity,
    @Persistent, etc.) and reports any errors or warnings that it can
    detect, in a similar way to how the IDE reports Java compilation
    errors.
    Of course there are many more things that the DPL Assistant could do.
    We are requesting your feedback. Please see the Possible Future
    Enhancements section at the end of this message and send us your
    thoughts by replying to this forum thread.
    Installation
    You can install the DPL Assistant using the Eclipse update manager.
    Start by adding our update site to your configuration:
        http://download.oracle.com/berkeley-db/eclipse/The DPL Assistant was developed on Eclipse version 3.3, and has been
    tested with both 3.3 and 3.4. It of course requires at least Java 1.5
    (since it works with Java annotations).
    Usage
    Once installed, the DPL Assistant may be enabled on a per-Java-project
    basis. From the Project Explorer, right-click on the name of a Java
    project, and choose Properties from the pop-up menu. In the
    Properties dialog, choose the "DPL Assistant" page, and turn on the
    "Use DPL Assistant" check-box.
    Now you can create a Java source file and type in some Java code,
    using DPL annotations. Whenever you save your changes in the Java
    source code editor, the validation tool checks the code, and adds
    error/warning markers for any problems that it finds.
    If you have your Eclipse workspace set up to build automatically, you
    only need to save your changes. (See the Project -> Build
    Automatically menu item.) Otherwise you need to do an explicit Build
    to run the validator.
    When the tool reports a problem, you should be able to see a marker in
    the margin on the left-hand side of the editor, and if you show the
    Eclipse "Problems" view you should see it there too. Also, a few --
    but not all -- of the problem types also appear as squiggly underlines
    in the source code.
    As a simple example, if you were to type in (and Save) the following
    code:
        @Entity public class A {
            String foo;
        }you should see an error marker, complaining that "Entity class lacks a
    primary key".
    Known Issues
    There is one significant known issue: if you have multiple Java
    projects in your Eclipse workspace, with entity or persistent classes
    from one project referring to classes in another project, then
    sometimes DPL Assistant can get confused. In such a case, it may fail
    to notice changes in one project that ought to cause a refresh of the
    validation for classes in another project, resulting in the retention
    of stale results from a previous validation.
    If this happens, a simple workaround is to manually request a clean
    build of the Java project (from the menu bar: Project -> Clean ...).
    Possible Future Enhancements
    At this point these are only some ideas, and do not represent any sort
    of commitment or definite plan. We would especially like to get
    opinions and feedback from the community. What features do you think
    would be useful?
    * the DPL Assistant is initially provided as an Eclipse plug-in, but
    we could add support for other IDE's, such as NetBeans or
    JDeveloper. Again, this depends on the level of interest from the
    community. Please let us know what would be useful to you.
    * instead of merely complaining about errors, in many cases it could
    fix the code automatically. Sometimes there are several possible
    fixes, depending on the developer's intent. These could be
    presented to the user in a multiple-choice pop-up menu.
    * "content assist": instead of waiting until an error has been made,
    it is sometimes possible to help the user get it right the first
    time. In the same way that the IDE helps in writing Java
    expressions (e.g., presenting a multiple-choice list of known
    methods, given an object reference of a known class), it could
    present a list of valid completions during typing of annotations.
    * wizards: instead of having to type entity classes by hand, a wizard
    could lead you through the process of defining the desired fields,
    and then generate the basic Java source code automatically.
    By analyzing an application's overall schema, a wizard might also
    help generate code for a test harness. Or, by comparing the current
    schema to a previous schema extracted from an old database
    environment, it might help generate conversion code ("mutations").
    * ultimately, it would be sweet to be able to render an abstract
    graphical "picture" (like a UML diagram) from an existing schema,
    and even (conversely) to support interactive drawing of such a
    diagram from which entity and persistent classes could then be
    generated automatically.
