JES 2005Q4 Administration Server Console Problem

Hello, I have installed JES on Sol 10x86.
I've used /usr/sbin/mpsadmserver configure to configure the Admin Server Console.
I used the default user;admin
I used a password that I know,
I used the default port of 390.
when I type /usr/sbin/mpsconsole I put in
user id admin
password ********
http://fqdn:390
It comes back with the error message
"Cannot login because of an incorrect User ID, incorrect password or directory problem. java.io.interuptedIOException:Http Responce Time Out"
I've used /usr/sbin/mpsadmserver unconfig to remove and reinstall it and still nothing.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I thought the proper order of doing things are:
download sw image
unpack.
read release notes and install guide
acertain install sw/hw requirements
install required SW component, I think JDK/JRE 1.4.2 or later needed
install required OS/kernel/LDAP/JES patches
When encountering error...
read the error and/or access log file
read the install log file, usually somewhere, may be in /tmp or /var/sadm/...
turn on debugging mode of installer, if there is, someting like:
# ./installer -d
or
# ./setup -d
The above is compressed archive install, I tried to avoid pkg install as pkg method seems more problematic, I may be wrong.
If you use the compressed archive method, then at the end of the successful run of "installer", simply:
# ./startconsole
instead of running "mpsconsole"

  • Problem creating mailing list with Server Console

    Hi,
when I create a new mailing list, I do the following:
    1. Right click on groups folder in Console
    2. Choose New->Group
    3. Entering all data and checking "Mail Account" under Account
The documentation sais, that a Mail-tab should now appear. But this is not the case for me!?
I can only create the group like this and have to add the attribute "mail" - to enter an email address - manually..
Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong or missing something? Also disallowing posting on this group can only be set manually. Shouldnt all this be done using a nice GUI dialog?
I'm using Directory Server 5.2 Patch 2. Also tried 5.2 Patch 4. Both same problem.
    Thanks in advance

got the instructions from the "Sun Java System Messaging Server 6 2005Q4 Administration Guide", chapter "Managing Mail Users and Mailing Lists with the Console Interface"-"Managing Mailing Lists":
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-2650/6n4u4du0e?q=messaging+server&s=t&a=view
Step 6 sais: "Click the Mail Account box. -> The Mail tab becomes visible in the Create Group window."
    Thanks,

    Hello,
There is a lot of stuff on this thread:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=567363&messageID=2801617
these guys are trying to run weblogic with JBuilder.
Looks like your classpath is incorrect, can you go to your admin console-->server-->remote start
copy the classpath and post it here.
Check for spaces in your classpath, missing jars or directories and miss spelt paths.
Has this problem been occuring as soon as you installed WLP or not?
    Cheers,

  • 'could not connect to administration server" in essbase console

    Hello friends,
while i was trying to login to eas console iam getting this error message as "could not connect to administration server" even after restarting the services.
    Thanks in Advance..

    Rakesh,
Is this the first time you are trying to log on to EAS console ?
First check if your database is up or not ( with which essbase configuration is done).
If your db services are running, then Go to Oracle EPM system, EAS and Start Administration Services from Start Programs ( I assume you are on 11 and on Windows).
If still you get the same problem, then check the logs.
    @Prabhas,
To my knowledge and based on Essbase architecture, both EAS and Essbase services are different. If Essbase is up and EAS is down, still you can access Essbase through add-in or some other tools.

  • Start managed server on the console problem

I use the weblogic server 6.1 sp1 on the microsoft NT 4.0 and 2000 server
    sp2, But i have a problem.
When i use the default setting to start the administration server and node

that the NodeManager on host 'myIPAddress' is configured to listen on port
'5555' and that it is actively listening]'>
All of the configuration setting ( include the startWeblogic and
    startNodeManagerWeblogic ) is defuault.
But when i install the Sun JDK 1.3.1_20 on those machines, It's fine to
start the managed server on the console, Although it's failure now again, i
don't know why ( coz, i uninstall weblogic and jdk then install it again ).
Anyone have this problem, could tell me how to solve it, Thx.

    Chris,
I want to be sure I understand because I was a little unclear at the end. You
did successfully get the managed server to start from the console after you
installed jdk1.3.1? Be sure your PATH variable contains the correct java bin
directory. Are you failing again now that you reinstalled WLS and the JDK?

  • Wishlist for groups administration in LDAP server console

I wonder why there is no basic support in administration of
groups in the Directory Server console. What I and others
    are missing is:
    - search for users in large static groups
    - sort columns in group member display by clicking on column titles
    - search and display of group memberships of an user entry
and - if I'm at it - display the DN of
a user entry if found through the register tab 'users and groups' search dialog of the first console window to see where the user is located in the directory tree.
Yes, we could buy another software to manage that, if we had the budget and write it by ourselfs if we had the budget. But normally the console is sufficient and I want to
administrate everything in one place. Other tools may not understand Sun LDAP roles so I would have to use two or more tools.
    Frerk Meyer

    Sharmila,
    Have you gone through http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13222_01/wls/docs92/secmanage/atn.html#wp1198953
Configure a new LDAP Auth Provider and use the appropriate values to your LDAP.
Then if you navigate to Global Roles -> Deployer within Admin Console, you can add the particular group to this role.
    Thanks,
    Paz

  • Problem in Pointbase databse version update during JES 2005Q4 Installation

I am installing JES 2005Q4 on Solaris 10
During component selection under Sun Java System Aplication Server Enterprise Edtion 8.1, subcomponents Pointbase Database and Sample Applications are in conflict with the version.
Please let me know if there is any suggestion in that line
    -gotham

Is this first time you are attempting to install application server? or Do you have any installation on the system from prior versions?
This normally happens when the prior version of components or any incomplete installatation are found on the system.
You can run the uninstaller from '/var/sadm/prod/SUNWentsys4' to clean up any partial / incomplete installations from the system. (In case, You've attempted to install something before).

  • Directory server - administration console, system server console fail

The server is solaris 10, with the java 1.4, and the Sun One directory server 5.2 was installed from a compressed file
    System Administration Server
    System Administration Console
    Sun Java(TM) System Server Console
All were installed, but there's no connection to the Administration Console on port 390. Isw there any documentation available that will help to troubleshoot this? Any recommendations as to how to resolve the difficulty?

I usually get to the admin console by running /var/opt/mps/serverroot/startconsole.
Its an X application so you will need to have $DISPLAY set.

  • Administrator Login & Issue with Weblogic Admin Server Console

I recently applied a PeopleTools patch to a test environment. I will be doing this to production soon, and as I was going through my screenshots of what I did in test, I ran across an area that may cause me an issue when I apply it to production.
There is a screen which prompts you for the administrator login and password for the weblogic domain. I wasn't sure of this when I did it in test, but in the PeopleTools install doc, it said the default is system/Passw0rd
This worked fine in test. However, the person who set this up in production may have used a different password. I don't want to get halfway through the patch and have to abort because I don't know the password.
I did some research and read there was a file with this info. I think it was boot.properties, but it was encrypted.
I then started the Weblogic Admin Server Console in test and was able to login with system/Passsw0rd so that verified a way of confirming the password in test.
I tried to do the same in production, but the Weblogic Admin Server Console page does not come up. The webserver is running, and if it wasn't, my phone would be ringing. Why does the console not come up?
However, the screen that comes up during the patch that prompts you for this asks you to enter your password, and re-enter it on the next line, so maybe its setting the password, not verifying that you know it. Is this true, I could make it whatever I want?
The WebLogicAdmin_weblogic.log file has not been updated in months. This may have been when we did the last upgrade.
Can you tell me how to determine/verify this password?
    Thanks,
    Roger

I'm not sure if there's an easy way to verify this. If I'm not mistaken you'll have batch file called startweblogicadmin.bat in the bin directory. You have to start this to get the administrator console running. It will be running on port :9999 by default if you haven't changed this.

  • OIM problem with weblogic administration server (configuring OIM)

    Hi,
    I have this software installed:
    - Oracle database 11gR2 (schemas made with RCU)
    - SOA Suite generic 11.1.1.2.0
    - Repository Creation Utility
    - Weblogic Server 1034
    - JDK 1.6.0_24
    - IAM_generic 11.1.1.1.3.0 (OIM)
when I'm configuring the oracle identity management 11.1.1.3.0 and I'm in the weblogic administration server screen I write in the fields:
    url administration server : t3://localhost:7001
    Username: weblogic
    Password: ****** (correct)
when it tries to connect to weblogic I get an error that says:
INST-6180: It has not been possible to get the URL server managed by the OIM domain // (spanish translation of the error)
then if look at the weblogic standard output (and in the admin server log) I see the following error

  • JES 2005Q4

What's new in this release? Is it like a patched Q1? E.g. does Q4 contain the fixes the patches for Q1 addressed? What does one gain (or lose) other than time, installing this? Is there an upgrade?
    Thanks,
    S7

I installed the JES 2005Q4 according to the instructions for an eval for 2005Q1, and things went ok - but: I had to re-run the setup for communications express to get that working, I would get the 'screen flashing' error upon login, common to a bad amadmin binddn (could this be validated during the setup? would save headaches), experimenting with a different binddn, i would get the iplanet webserver's default index page, with the laurel?calendar=1 (sic) appended to it. and going to messenger exp, or cal exp, manually, i'd be logged in - so the sso was working. re-running the setup though made comm exp work.
To answer my own question, it seems that with a clean install of solaris 9, and the 9_recommended cluster - and 2005Q4, the ES cluster is still needed? Several patches were applied when I ran it - it's what I did before re-running the setup for comm exp. thinking that may be the problem, not sure if it was re-running the setup (probably) or the patches (probably not) that made comm exp. work. in any event here are some problems/questions:
in msie - the trash folder in comm exp does not show its contents, though this is not the case for mozilla. does delete = move to trash?
moveuser will only seem to work where there is an admin user with explicit functionality to move users (which my current imap server lacks) - i tried to simply set up two accounts in a client, and copy msgs from one imap folder to another, works, though with some errors (on badly formed email?), and is slow. there are some other utils out there, imapsync (requires several perl mods, mailutil from uw (haven't tried), etc.
there is a postmaster group now visible in the DA, I tried to make another mailing group - could add members to it but not an email address for the group - using the DA gui. It seems the postmaster group had some additional objects, looking at it in the DS console - could I add these to my group, to add the email address for my group. Would these objects then show up in the DA, once I did? - for future editing there.
Also even though I used commadmin to create users with the -k legacy command, I couldn't get into their calendars with comm exp. until I removed the <@domain.com> from those 3 calendar objects? What is a hosted vs legacy setup anyway?
When partitioning the disk, what will hold the user's mail and attachments, etc.? What slice needs to be big on an ims server? /var?
I am getting this error upon startup (any ideas?):
