Jframe blues ( another validate, repaint question )

i can use validate() or repaint() just fine when i use it via a JButton or a JOptionPane.
but when i use it via an event ( any event ) it doesnt work.
the background changes to the background color but no components are showing
when i click over where they're supposed to be they suddenly appear....
even better, i use an option in my jmenu that pops a JOptionPane, click on the ok button and
suddenly, all the components of me jframe suddenly appear!
well, can somebody tell me what to do after
frame.validate();
so that all the components shows?
thx
PoPo

ok all is well .....
resolved the problem by starting a new thread
SwingUtilities.invokeLater(new Runnable()
public void run()
// insert the code that updates the UI here.
});

  • Validate/repaint applet

    Hi,
    I've got a problem with repaint for a japplet
    what i do is removing a jscrollpane to replace it by another one. so i remove the first component and i add a second !
    the problem is that, on the screen, the first one disappears but when i add the second, nothing is visible !!!
    I've tried everything : invalidate,validate,repaint (on the container, on the parent,...)
    the only thing to see the second one is resizing the browser !!!
    have you a solution ???
    Thanks
    Greg

    getContentPane().remove(panelName);
    getContentPane().add("Center",panelName); // assumes BorderLayout

  • I keep getting the little blue box with the question mark

    Hi
    I have 10.6.7 system software and my safari is 5.0.4
    I have called apple twice with this problem already but nothing has helped except for short times.
    I have reset safari about one dozen times and when I do I reset the top 7 items and I've emptied the cache in addition just in case. I've also taken my safari preference plist out of my library and trashed it.
    And I've run disk utilities many times and restarted my computer. Each thing I do will solve the problem for a short time, even up to a day or more (or less) but then it comes back. For instance on Facebook maybe 1/8th of the thumbnail images have the little blue boxes with the question marks but most don't. I can't figure it out. Sometimes even the iPAD safari gets them too but my firefox doesn't show them and neither does Safari on my eMac.
    Yesterday the question marks even showed up in ONE mailing on all 3 computers with the question marks in the blue boxes (meaning my iMac, my eMac and my iPad) but then it just all resolved after a few hours. This does sound like possibly a server problem except today it's happening (in Safari again) only on this iMac in Safari (not firefox) and not on the other two devices.
    One more thing, since they changed my radio on the roof for my wireless internet, the 5.8 phone cuts out the internet when I use it. The problem has gotten worse since they changed the radio to the same frequency as the phone, it's a much faster service than the 2.4 radio. I don't know if this is related or not.
    Thank you,
    Martha

    <Contact your ISP.
    Is it possible, Carolyn, that this would mainly and almost always be only affecting the iMac and Safari in the iMac if it were a server issue? Right now Safari has more blue boxes with question marks than ever and the eMac and iPad have none. Firefox on the iMac has none also.
    I should try a direct connection and by pass the router and see if that makes a difference.
    I will contact them tomorrow but I want to get clear in my head first all the facts and possibilities.
    Thanks!
    Martha

  • Why do some of my emails have blue squares with a question mark instead of a picture or bar code?

    Why do some of my emails have blue squares with a question mark instead of a picture or bar code?

    No app installed that will view the pics and bar codes.
    Which email client are you using?  Which version?
    File suffix of the pics & bar codes?  Example:  .pic, .bmp, .jpg, etc.

  • Images appearing as little blue box with a question mark

    Hi, I have Safari version 3.1.1 and in the last two weeks, I've been missing data and having in it's place a small little blue box with a question mark show up in Safari and in some of my mail downloads too.
    Can anyone assist
    Thanks

    p.s. I have started a new topic because the other string relating to this topic is showing as solved with cause being devleopers.

    I have exactly the same problem with safari and mail but firefox works fine. If i go to a website that requires flash in safari it will say i need to install flash 8 to view the stuff even though i have flash 9 installed. I thought it might have been a problem with flash and thought about uninstalling and reinstalling but because firefox works fine it would seem to be a safari problem. This only started happening with the latest quicktime update to, and i've tried downgrading back to an older version but my pro-apps require the latest version to run.
    I did the same updates on my macbook but didn't encounter the same problems,although i lost audio playback on avi's in quicktime which i have since fixed with perian.

  • Another color management question

    Hi folks,
    Apologies for yet another color management question, but Im getting very confused and could do with some help. I use a Canon 10D and Canon 30D. Ive come to LightRoom from Pixmantec Raw Shooter.
    As Ive gotten more serious about producing high quality images for both the web and as prints, I thought Id invest in the Colorvision Spyder2 calibration product. So my monitor is now calibrated (quite a difference from what I was seeing!) and I have a calibration profile applied.
    My needs are pretty obvious I want my images to look the same wherever theyre viewed including exported files (such as JPEGs) whether this be on my monitor (in LightRoom, a web browser, Paint Shop Pro, whatever) and on a printer.
    Perhaps Im getting confused because Im trying to compare what LightRoom does with what RawShooter does.
    In RawShooter, when exporting from RAW to JPEG, I can specify the RGB Working Space Im using and then select my monitor profile. I think that what happens is that the export mechanism takes this profile into account and, low and behold, the JPEG looks fine when viewed in any web browser - the colours are exactly the same as in RawShooter. In Paint Shop Pro they look fine too unless I enable Color Management in which case (Im guessing) the monitor profile is, essentially, applied twice! But the upshot is I seem to get the results I want.
    What I cant figure out is how I do this in LightRoom. I can make the same adjustments to the RAW image as I did in RawShooter, but there doesnt seem an option for me to select my profile on export to JPEG only the standard 3 color spaces. Anyway the result is a JPEG that looks somewhat different when viewed in a web browser, or Paint Shop Pro with Color Management turned off. However, if I turn Color Management on in Paint Shop Pro, then it looks fine. So Im assuming that my profile isnt accounted for when exporting JPEGs from LightRoom.
    So any pointers or explanations would be really appreciated. I also acknowledge that this is my first foray into color management, and feel free to tell me to go and read some introductory article (link please!) and then come back with a sensible question if thats whats needed!
    Thanks in advance.
    - Pete

    Lightroom color management.
    a.) Monitor profile used: The profile set as the default in your operating system (e.g. Windows xp). (your monitor profile software usually does this when you calibrate/profile your monitor).
    b.) Working space: ProPhotoRGB
    c.) Export color space: You can choose one of the following sRGB; Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB.
    There is no option (afaik) to change a.) or b.) the option you choose in c.) will affect how the exported image will be displayed in color managed applications or non-color managed applications.
    Non-color managed applications are not able to display Adobe RGB or Pro Photo RGB correctly. I guess if you wish a consistent display of your images in color managed and non-color managed applications then the only common factor is sRGB and you should export your images in sRGB color space.
    The benefits of the other expanded color spaces are in printing and you also would have to get this end of your color management correct. Printing profiles to match your printer and each paper being used etc.
    Until you can get this all sorted out you will get better results from sRGB, this is also applicable when using most commercial printing services.

    HI,
    From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Appearance tab. Tick the box next to: Display images when the page opens.
    If that box is already ticked, from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset. Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems loading images, go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
    Web pages now include a small icon or 'favicon' which is visible in the address bar and next to bookmarks. These icons take up disk space and slow Safari down. It is possible to erase the icons from your computer and start fresh. *To delete Safari's icon cache using the Finder, open your user folder, navigate to ~/Library/Safari/ and move this file "webpageIcons.db to the Trash.*
    Make sure Safari is not running in Rosetta. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle so it faces down. Where you see Open using Rosetta... make sure that is NOT selected.
    If you still have problems, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop. Relaunch Safari. If it's a successful launch, then that .plist file needs to be moved to the Trash.

    Hi, I have an iMac which I just booted up and have a white screen with a blue folder with a question mark blinking on and off. Any help would be appreciated. Tommy

    That means your iMac could not find a system to use for startup.  That may mean the internal hard drive has become faulty, or the hard drive mechanism is fine, but the startup volume ("Macintosh HD" unless you renamed it) may have some type of data corruption that makes it unbootable.
    First, you should try resetting PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
    and if that does not help, use this procedure to reset SMC (power management).  If your iMac is from 2008, this is the procedure for Intel (not PowerPC) Macs.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    (This forum category is for "iMac (PPC)," so if this iMac is older (with a PowerPC processor), please post back.)
    Disconnect all peripheral devices.  When you connect it back to power, if you have been using a power strip of some type, try connecting it directly to a wall outlet, by itself (at least initially).  Start up with nothing but the power cord connected, then add only standard mouse and keyboard.  If it works, run it that way for a while.
    If PRAM and SMC reset have no effect, you should insert your Mac OS X installation disc (for the currently installed system) in the optical drive, and restart with the C key held down.  This should get you to the Installer screen, where you can run Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    In Disk Utility, does the internal hard drive appear in the sidebar?  If so, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and go to the First Aid tab.  Use Repair Disk.  If an error is found, note if Disk Utility was able to fix it or not.
    You can then quit Disk Utility and attempt to restart normally.

  • How do I replace one JPanel on a JFrame with another?

    I want to replace one JPanel on a JFrame with a different JPanel when the user clicks on a certain menu item. The menu item is working corrrectly but I cant seem to repaint / refresh the component.
    My code is as follows:
    c.add(knotPanel, BorderLayout.CENTER);
    c.add(stepPanel, BorderLayout.NORTH);
         if (stepChoice != 9) {
         c.remove(ownPanel);
         c.add(lessonPanel, BorderLayout.EAST);
         else {
         c.remove(lessonPanel);
         c.add(ownPanel, BorderLayout.EAST);
         c.invalidate();
         c.validate();
         c.update(c.getGraphics());
    Any ideas?

    I think you should use CardLayout manager.
    With CardLayout you can switch beetwen JPanels without removing or adding.

  • When-Validate-item question

    Dear all,
    I have a block have 3 database items (seq_no, sname, svalue). seq_no and sname are text item and svalue is a list item.
    Number of records display for this block is 3.
    In when-validate-item of sname, I wrote a validation if sname = 'xxx' then svalue will be 'yyy'.
    The problem now I am facing is, when I changed the svalue to 'aaa' and then click the text item in another block, the validation in sname is triggered and I cannot change the value of svalue.
    Per my knowledge, the when-validate-item will be fired only when the value was changed.
    Therefore, I don't know why it was happened...
    I am using Oracle forms 10g.
    Please help. Thanks for advance.
    Regards.

    Indeed..
    Steve's suggestion about block level trigger is the right approach for this case. So I don't have to put code in many items.
    Splazm also had this nice idea about PRE-TEXT-ITEM.. It saves me from copying NULL to the item. Plus I don't have to worry about reseting the record's status cause user doesn't have the chance to set a value to the item cause he won't be able to navigate into it in the first place.
    Plus GO_ITEM is not needed cause if item is question is NULL that means that user is coming from this item and failure of trigger will just keep the focus there!
    So I combined all and came only with the following lines in PRE-TEXT-ITEM that fits perfectly for my requirement (ADEIA_ID is the item in question):
    IF NOT :SYSTEM.TRIGGER_ITEM = 'ADEIA_DETAILS.ADEIA_ID' AND :ADEIA_DETAILS.ADEIA_ID IS NULL THEN
    error message
    RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE;
    END IF;
    Thanks all you've been of great help for this!
