JHeadstart JSF 10.1.3 on CSO?

Hi,
Any news on when the new JHeadstart version will be available to licensed customers? In previous postings you were targeting end March...

Wilfred,
Yes, the preview is basically done. The problem is that during testing we hit a critical JDeveloper bug that will be fixed in Service Update 2, wich is supposed to be released beginning of april. So, we are waiting for Service Update 2 to come out, and then we will make the preview available.

    Steven,
this time, I'm using a brand new JDeveloper, Steve Munch's tutorial "jhs-step-by-step" application, but I'm also getting errors by testing the application modul:

Question: What is the rule of thumb - should I re-enable the project and generate a new JHeadstart Application Definition, after migrating or not?

  • From JHeadstart 1012 UIX to JHeadstart 1013 JSF : bc4j.xcfg issue

    Greetings
After doing all the procedures announced in the JHeadstart 10.1.3 release notes (the project compiles successively). When running the application this error emerges :
    500 Internal Server Error
oracle.jbo.ConfigException: JBO-33001: Cannot find the configuration file /myApp/model/common/bc4j.xcfg in the classpath
    at oracle.jbo.client.Configuration.loadFromClassPath(Configuration.java:367)     at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.PoolMgr.createPool(PoolMgr.java:284)     at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.PoolMgr.findPool(PoolMgr.java:539)     at oracle.jbo.common.ampool.ContextPoolManager.findPool(ContextPoolManager.java:165) .... etc... etc...
    The bc4j.xcfg is in place.
I've also added the bc4j.xcfg path to the list of 'resources' paths in Model (Project Properties > Project Content > Resources).
When trying to edit the file (Application Module > right click > configurations) all goes well. It actually saves data correctly into it.
    Any suggestion ?
    Thanks

Has anyone been able to deploy ADF JSF project with JHeadstart using JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 to Oracle 10G AS 10.1.2.0.2? I'm using window environment. Any feedback is much appreciated. Thank you for your assistance and have a nice day.

    Hi all,
I had also tried out something else...
I am now portalizing the ADF application using PortalFacesBridge and portlet.xml. Then I deploy it on the Local OC4J of my system and expose it as a WSRP Portlet using the url: 'http://hostname:portname/warFileName/info and generating a WSDL URL...
I am then using this WSDL URL to regester this portalized application on the Oracle Portal10.1.4 which i am able to accomplish successfully...
However after regestration, when I try to view this on the portal page, It is throwing the following error:-
Error: Could not get markup. The cookie or session is invalid or there is a runtime exception.
Also I would like to add that this method was working perfectly fine previously...
What might be the clue for this sudden error...
Any kind of help is greatly appriciated... Thanks...

  • I dont see Jheadstart Forms2ADF in my Jdeveloper 11g

Hi am very new to Jdeveloper. My requirement is, I want to convert a Oracle form to J2EE. I have downloaded and installed the Jdeveloper 11g. And then I selected the application FUSION WEB APPLICATION(ADF). And when I click on the Model -> New-> Business Tier, I am unable to see Jheadstart forms2ADF tool.
Someone Please help me how to include this tool and if possible provide me steps with converting forms to J2EE.
Note: I followed the demo given in Oracle site. But no use.
Edited by: Karthik GJ on Aug 1, 2010 8:44 PM

    Karthik,
You can download an evaluation version of JHeadstart 11g through JDeveloper Check for Updates, but that evaluation version does not include the Forms2ADF Generator (see http://blogs.oracle.com/jheadstart/2010/04/jheadstart_11g_evaluation_vers.html ).
Licensed JHeadstart customers can download the fully functional version of JHeadstart through the Oracle Consulting Supplement Option at http://cso.oracle.com. If you want to purchase JHeadstart licenses, please see http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jheadstart/files/jheadstart_faq.html#BM3 and contact your local Oracle Consulting representative.

  • JHeadstart 10.1.3 questions

I have a few questions about the new 10.1.3 version. The text below is copied from the old JHeadstart blog, so I'd like to see what that described features were implemented in this release:
Generation of JSF / ADF Faces pages. Instead of generating UIX pages, the new release will generate ADF Faces pages (in .jspx format). What is now known as View Type "JSP" will also result in .jspx pages using JSF tags. We are still investigating what mix of JSF implementations (RI, ADF Faces, MyFaces?) we want to use in these pages.
Is it using ADF Faces only? If so, does it have any chance to use more than one JSF implementation in the future?
A new extendable and pluggable generator architecture. As you might know, the JHeadstart Application Generator is driven by generator templates. These templates contain tokens that are resolved and replaced with dynamic content. Currenty, the tokens are resolved by a mix of XSLT stylesheets and java classes. In the next release, we will go for java classes only and we will use the Spring Bean Factory to instantiate the JHeadstart Token Resolver classes. This will make it very easy to plug in your own customized token resolvers: just register them in the bean factory xml file.
This is one of the most interesting features for me and one of the most I don't have a good knowledge as well. Of course, we have to deal frequently with post-generation changes, and most of time we would like to be able to modify the original generator. How easy (and well documented) will this feature be available for us? Is it expected that an experienced Java programmer can easily add/define/change the templates?
Nice to have, but not committed features for this release include export to excel, generic report launch form (supporting Oracle reports and XML Publisher) and matrix forms.
Any advances in this features? The export to excel is one that I realized and was planning to implement in 10.1.2, integrating it with Jasper. The idea was to give the user an easy way to export/print all that current data (since HTML is not a good option to export/print) and from the programmer perspective, it could have this feature in an UIX page without the need to code anything. But of course, if this is planned to be in JHeadstart in the near future, it would be fine for me just wait the release.
    Thanks!
    Eduardo

    Eduardo,
A difference with 10.1.2 is that the generated page content is 100% template-driven. Each page snippet / component has its own template that can be customized.
The default template set included with 10.1.3 only uses ADF Faces Components but nothing stops you from creating custom templates that use other JSF Components. For example, in the ADF-JHeadstart workshop we have an exercise with custom templates where we use the MyFaces Html Editor component.
JHeadstart uses the open source Velocity template engine. The language used in the JHeadstart Templates is the Velocity Template Language (VTL). Lots of doc about Velocity can be found at http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity/
So, once you understand VTL and the JHeadstart metamodel structure and properties, you can make really advanced customizations by creating custom templates. We plan to write one of our next weblog posts about the templating mechanism.
Although the need will be because of the template-driven nature of 10.1.3, you can now easily subclass the JHeadstart generator classes that provide the information used by the templates. We use the Spring Bean Factory to register our generator classes. You can make a subclass and register your subclass in the Spring bean XML config file.
XSLT stylesheets are not used anymore.
The nice to have features will certainly not make the first production release.

  • How to realize Checkbox and Radio Buttons based on Attributes in JHeadstart

    Hy@ all,
I try to redevelop the Summit Forms Demo in ADF.
The module "ORDER" contains, among other things, a checkbox and radio buttons based on database columns(VARCHAR2).
The column(checkbox) named PAYMENT_TYPE contains the values CASH and CREDIT and the column(radio button) called ORDER_FILLED contains the values Y and N.
After creating the business components, I set in JHeadstarts Application Definition the Display Type of these two attributes to checkBox and radio-horizontal.
I created a dymanic domain for the radio-horizontal and a static domain for the checkBox.
The radio-horizontal within the dymanic domain works nearly correct.
I set the Data Collection in this dynamic domain to the required Group and the Value and Meaning Attribute to the necessary Attribute.
Within the JSF- Page the values are shown right but unfortunately there are too many radio buttons available. Instead of displaying the two radio buttons CASH and CREDIT were many CASH and CREDIT radio buttons shown.
I can´t find any solution for this case.
The problem with the checkBox is that therfore a static domain is required but I want to show the value of the checkBox based on the described attribute, like the handling of the radio horizontal.
But I don´t know how to implement this, if it is possible.
I´m using JHeadstart v10.1.3.2 and I´m pleased about any reply or solution.
    Best regards
    Chris

    Chris,
If you run the application module tester, and query the view object usage underlying your dynamic domain, how many rows does it return? It should return only two rows, one for CASH and one for CREDIT. If more than two rows are returned, your query is wrong.
What is the problem with using a static domain for the checkbox?

I followed your instructions and it works
I recently downloaded the production version of JDeveloper Studio Edition Version 10.1.3.1.0.3984
    Build JDEVADF_10.1.3.1.0_NT_061009.1404.3984
    I installed JHeadstart evaluation version.
I recreate the same example with this new version of JDeveloper
I found the bean definition in the jag-config.xml (by default)
    I removed the "#ITEM_PARTIAL_TRIGGERS_PROP" from the template (default/item/form/formSecret.vm )
I thought it will work but unfortunately it doesn't work and and I got the same error

  • How to implement JSF text input down-arrow key = next record navigation?

    Hi All,
I've got a small query which you experts might be able to help me through. I would not be surprised if such questions would already have been raised in this forum.
Formerly, I've created an Oracle Form that allow user to quickly insert data in bulk. It only has three 3 fields - first name, second name and address. Because of the flexibility of the Oracle Form, by pressing the down arrow key, user is able to create record when the last record is detected. And vice versa by hitting the up arrow key, it will move to the previous record when the current record is not the first record. So basically, the form is very 'key-driven' and without the use of the mouse, a lot of data can be inserted very quickly and efficiently.
I've successfully converted such form to an ADF BC JSF page using the JHeadstart toolkit. But when I showed it to my users for comment, they were really disappointed with the number of mouse interactions they need to click every time to navigate between records as well as creating new records. My question is can I build some sort of ADF JSF event handler on any of the text items to perform the following tasks:
1.) When 'down arrow key' is pressed AND not the last record THEN
    Go to the next record.
2.) When 'down arrow key' is pressed AND is the last record THEN
Go to the next blank record.
3.) When 'up arrow key' is pressed AND not the first record THEN
    Go to the previous record.
4.) When 'up arrow key' is pressed AND is the first record THEN
    Do nothing.
If all the four above tasks are achievable in ADF JSF, can you please guide and brief me on the steps to implement them. Or these functionalities are already available somewhere in other open source toolkits. Your help is much appreciated. Thank you and have a nice day.
    Kind Regards,
    John

    Hi Steven,
I've tried to incoporated attached link's codes with the JHeadstart generated code inside the jspx but I still cannot get it to work. There is a lot of Javascript error and is impossible to debug.

  • 'WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE-trigger' in JDeveloper/ADF/JHeadstart

    Hello,
I'm new to JDeveloper/ADF with JHeadstart.
I want to execute a PL/SQL-procedure when the application starts. I've added the method to execute the PL/SQL-procedure to the Application module class.
How can we execute this method?
    Thanks in advance.
    Richard Teunissen

    Richard,
When using security, it is easier to add a servlet filter to your application that only calls the PL/SQL procedure when user just logged in , which is start of new session.
Without security, it is easier to do it each time you enter a new page.
You can drag and drop the app module method on your page, then create an invokeAction in the executables section of your page definition that executes the method binding, and set the refreshCondition of the invokeAction to #{!adfFacesContext.postback}.
See ADF Developers guide, sections 8.4, 17.3 and 10.5.5 for more info:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/toc.htm
Now, if you are new to ADF this might sounds a bit cryptic, I strongly recommend you take some class on ADF, for example the ADF/JHeadstart workshop:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/jheadstart/workshop
JHeadstart is a great help when moving from Forms to ADF, but you still need to learn how ADF works, to be able to fully leverage the power of JHeadstart. It is like generating Forms using Designer, thevbetter you know Forms, the more advanced functionality you can generate using Designer. The JHeadstart generator is very flexbile, using custom templates you can generate almost anything you want, but it requires knowledge of ADF Faces, JSF, ADF bindings and ADF Business Components to create those templates.

  • Oracle JHeadstart 10g release 9.0.5.1 now available!

    All,
Oracle JHeadstart 10g Release 9.0.5.1 is now available. More than a month ago Oracle released Oracle JDeveloper 10g (9.0.5.1). This new JHeadstart release is certified against both JDeveloper 9.0.5.1 and 9.0.5.2. You can now benefit the strong combination of the new versions of Oracle JDeveloper and JHeadstart.
    What is Oracle JHeadstart?
JHeadstart is a development tool kit, fully integrated with JDeveloper, that enables rapid component based development of J2EE applications using the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern. It provides customers with 4GL-like productivity without jeopardizing the flexibility and openness of the J2EE architecture. In addition it includes a bridge from Oracle Designer that enables customers to generate fully functioning J2EE applications from Oracle Designer or to migrate Oracle Forms to J2EE.
What is new in this release?
In addition to the certification mentioned above this release includes the following new features:
    - Support for Oracle TopLink, adding extra flexibility.
    - A Tutorial that describes and a demo application that shows how to use JHeadstart in conjunction with TopLink based on multiple project experiences.
    - Links from the Applications Structure File editor to both the BC4J property editor as well as the JHeadstart Application Generator which streamlines the development process.
    - Pop-lists for regions and domains to prevent typing errors
    - Generation of regions in JSP pages
    - Fixes, for a complete list of fixes please refer to the release notes.
    Where to download?
This maintenance release can be downloaded from the supplement option portal ( http://cso.oracle.com/ ) for customers that hold a supplement option license. It will be available for evaluation purposes on OTN later on.
Where to go for more information?

  • How to Create reusable Jsfcomponent in Jheadstart 10.1.3.2

    Hi Jheadstart team,
We are in the early stages of developing a larg project using jheadstart 10.1.3.2. 52 and we have some jsf compoents which will be repeated in meny pages like emploee information or product information.
I wander if it is posiable to obtain some functionality like "Reusable module component" whitch was in oracle Designer?
I have see the following demonstration in jdeveloper 11g Demos: http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11/demos/reusableJSFComponents/reusableJSFComponents.html
and my question is if there is a way to implement such a functionality in Jheadstart 10.1.3.3?
    Thank you in advance.
    Alireza

    Alireza,
You could use an af:region and include that in each and every page, using JHeadstart custom templates. Similar to how we use af:region elements for including the menu, form browse buttons, etc.
However, a 10.1.3 af:region does not have native support for its own page definition like in R11, so you need to create a separate page definition, which needs to be "prepared" (calling refreshControl on it) for each page in wich you use the region. You can do this by overriding the JhsPageLifecycle class.
Furthermore, the value bindings of the items within the region cannot use the #{bindings.EmployeeId.inputValue} notation, because they need to point to the separate page def, so you should use the notation #{data.SeparatePageDefName.EmployeeId.inputValue}.

  • JHeadstart Migration Problem

    Hi,
I have an oracle form as an .fmb file. I Need to migrate the form to JDevelope(ADF) using JHeadstart.
As the form was built using Form Builder, I created a repository and did a reverse engineering using the Design Capture functionlity of the Oracle Designer. While running the Design Capture, it ran sucessfully without giving me any errors. Following is the log message :-
    Form Generator : Version 10.1.2.0.2 (Build 10.1.2.6.18) - Production on Tue Jul 15 09:33:57 2008
Copyright (c) 1995, 2005 Oracle Corporation. All rights reserved
    Capturing Module 'F_TRANS_HIST'
    Capture of 'F_TRANS_HIST' Successful
Design and Application Logic Capture Complete
I then created an application [JSF, ADF BC] in JDeveloper. I then enabled the JHeadstart of the ViewController Project and then ran the JHeadstart Designer-Forms Migrator. This process also ran sucessfully without giving me any error.
When in the JDeveloper Application Navigator, under the Model project ->Application Sources, I am just able to see the application Module. The entities are NOT present.
Is there a problem during my design capture? or during the migration.
If somehow on if i try to define an application defination on the same project and then run the JHeadstart Application Generator then it gives me 2 error message which are as follows:-
[WEB-INF/JhsCommon-beans.xml, default/misc/facesConfig/jhsCommonBeans.vm] Velocity log [error] Method get threw exception for reference $JHS in template default/misc/facesConfig/jhsCommonBeans.vm at [94,31]
    [WEB-INF/JhsCommon-beans.xml, default/misc/facesConfig/jhsCommonBeans.vm] org.apache.velocity.exception.MethodInvocationException: Invocation of method 'get' in class java.util.ArrayList threw exception class java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException : Index: 0, Size: 0
Please help me. Do let me know at which step I am going wrong.
    Thanks
    Surbhit Jain

    Hi Surbhit Jain,
I don't know what went wrong without getting more details. It could be that the Design Capture did not capture any Module Table Usages, and that's why you did not get any Entity Objects. It could also be that you ran into a bug in JHeadstart. Anyway, this week JHeadstart 10.1.3.3 was released, in which JHeadstart Designer-Forms Migrator was replaced by JHeadstart Forms2ADF Generator (JFG). See the announcement on top of this forum.
JFG can read .fmb files directly, there is no need to Design Capture into Oracle Designer. I suspect that you have more chances of success with JFG.
    Hope this helps,

  • Custom Security in JHeadstart TP1 - error with JhsAuthorizationProxy

I am trying to implement jheadstart security in my application.
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.1.0.2 and JHeadstart 11 TP1.
In JHeadstart I have used the following options:
    Authentication Type : Custom
    Authorisation Type : Custom
Authorize using Group permission? --> unchecked
    Administartor Role: ADMIN
    User Role : USER
    Insert Allowed EL Expression : #{jhsUserRoles}
    UpdateAllowed EL Expression : #{jhsUserRoles}
    DeleteAllowed EL Expression : #{jhsUserRoles}
When Access denied go to Next Group check box --> unchecked.
I am using the JHS-tables for security.
    I ran the SecurityAdminService module.
After running my application I can use my login page. I am using user Steven King (administrator).
Login is successfull and I can see my application, but when I try to open a screen I get the following error:
    ]] Root cause of ServletException.
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot convert {} of type class oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.JhsAuthorizationProxy to class java.lang.Boolean

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with my JhsAuthorizationProxy?
In the JhsCommon-Beans.xml I have the following text about JhsAuthorizationProxy:
    <managed-bean>
    <managed-bean-name>jhsUserRoles</managed-bean-name>
    <managed-bean-class>oracle.jheadstart.controller.jsf.JhsAuthorizationProxy</managed-bean-class>
    <managed-bean-scope>session</managed-bean-scope>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>authorizationType</property-name>
    <value>custom</value>
    </managed-property>
    <managed-property>
    <property-name>authorizeUsingPermissions</property-name>
    <value>false</value>
    </managed-property>
    </managed-bean>

Problem is solved. In the group-definition the Insert (Update and Delete) Allowed EL Expression was empty.
