//Solution for this issue
Install j2se develpment kit 1.5.0 update 22, and works !

what happens is you type in the url and press enter then nothing.  the fix was to run "netsh winsock reset"
If the winsock key reset helped things, that usually indicates trouble with a LSP. (That's also consistent with a 'silent" Safari page-load failure.) If you run into the problem again, perhaps try the following document:

  • NTFS partition: Files auto deleted by Windows [SOLVED]

I am dual booting with Win7. I copy some files to NTFS partition so that I can access them from Windows. But what I see after I boot into Windows, those files are either deleted or are corrupted (a few hundred megs file is just a few kB now) !!!
This is really frustrating as I lost several files, though not all as some files remain as they were in Arch. I have NTFS-3G installed, and use HAL hot-plug mounting to access the NTFS drive.
Any ideas what is going wrong here ? Thanks.

Its just another partition on the same drive where my arch ext4 partition exists. For a moment I thought its a problem with hibernation. So this time I copied a file to the NTFS partition and did a complete shutdown from linux. Now both windows and linux are in shutdown state, none in hibernation. I booted into windows, the file is again gone.
Then I checked into this folder Found.000. And one of my missing files is here. This prompted me to check if M$ has found a new way to keep (force) people away from linux. I found somewhere on the web that by default in Win7 the check disk utility checks for file system consistency at each boot (I think it would just check for either time stamps or directory structure).
So for now I have disabled automatic disk checking in Windows. Will do a few more test boots to see it solves the problem. Thanks again.
Edit: Few test reboots and all seems fine. Its a windows problem.

  • Oracle jinitiator for Windows Vista

    Hi All,
Is oracle jinitiator 1.3.1.25 compatible to Windows Vista? We have Oracle E-Business Suite 11i (11.5.10). Whenever we access the application, in Windows XP, Internet Explorer 6 or 7, the oracle jinitiator launch without any problem.
Now we have user using Windows Vista and whenever he open the Ebusiness Suite application, he can Log-In though but if he clicks any module and the jinitiator starts to launch, the application gets closed.
Is the initiator caused the problem? Is there any setup that we need to do first?
    Thanks,

  • Gnome-do pops up below last opened window [SOLVED]

I am using KDE 4.5.1 with arch. Recently, I had problems while installing  bespin-svn package from AUR. I couldn't change the Widget style under System Setting > Common Appearance and Behavior > Style > Application tab > Widget style. I wanted to change it back to Plastique because Bespin did not work right. I guess my mistake was that I deleted besptin-svn package before I changed Widget style.
I was not able to open Style window in System Setting. Whenever I try, it opened and closed right away. So, I decided to delete ~/.kde4 folder. And it bring me the default environment. Now I am trying to configure KDE as it was. After half day of struggling, I got almost of the environment.back.
The problem comes when I press CTRL-SUPER-space to popup gnome-do. It is always blocked by last opened window. I had the problem when I stall gnome-do first time. Somehow I figured out. But I do not have long memory. I forgot the howto. I am sure this can be solved by changing configuration in KDE System Setting since it happen after I remove ~/.kde4 folder.
I made a screen cast in Youtube. This shows what problem I have now.

  • Compatible Jinitiator for Windows Vista

    HI,
I bought a new laptop with Vista OS,and i am not able to run Oracle applications on it.When i try to open applications using remote login/password , internet explorer/Mozilla/real player shutting down automatically though it download jinitiator. Is there any Jinitiator Compatible for windows vista?

    Three answers
    1. This is a database forum and not an apps forum.
    2. You can check the certification matrix on metalink or Steven Chan's blog http://blogs.oracle.com/schan would be a good bookmark to make - http://blogs.oracle.com/schan/2007/03/19#a1301 is directly relevant
    3. You are unlikely ever to get Jinitiator to work on Vista, but you likely will be able to get an appropriate sun JRE to work. This requires work from your apps dba - I know I am one.

  • 848P wont' post after bios upgrade under windows --- SOLVED

    Hi, I own a MSI 848p Neo-V, with a P4C 3Ghz, 2*512 PC4000 Corsair,  6600GT AGP, 1 CD recorder set as Master in primary IDE,
2 HDD SATA, PSU Antec 350W.
All that stuff has been working fine for months   untill I installed liveupdate 3.69 downloaded from MSI web site , then started the bios (6788v61 I guess) update operation  . I performed this update in Windows environment (Win XP SP2), I also ceated the safety floppy disk as suggested during the process.
Since then, the computer will not start  : nopost at all, no display, no beep, no boot. I just have the cd recorder led and the LAN adapter led blinking from time to time. I performed a clear CMOS but it did not solved my problem.
Any idea or suggestion would be helpful.
    Kind regards

Hey! I managed to fix it fianlly !!!
I read a lot of threads in many forums, and first learning is do not upgrade if you do not need to (stupid but correct at the same time  )
I found a contribution from MarkA (who's my new god by the way) here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=28048.msg161595#msg161595
I don't know whether the ram story is relevant, but it worked for me anyway ; here is exactly what I did to recover :
    1 - ungluged PSU cable
2 - pushed power button to totally empty capacitors
    3 - clean Clear Cmos (jbat1 moved from 1-2 to 2-3) --> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=31222.0
4 - remove the two PC4000 Corsair Ram modules
5 - inserted one 2700 Ram module (borrowed for this test)
    6 - move jbat1 back to 1-2
7 - insert floppy with latest bios renamed AMIBOOT.ROM (
8 - plug the psu cable back in
    9 - power on while pressing Ctrl+Home
10 - removed floppy when hearing 4 bips
11 - reboot, and display is working (hurra!  )
12 - Access to bios to restore settings
    13 - Power off
    14 - ungluged PSU cable
    15 - removed the 2700 Ram module
16 - inserted the two PC4000 Corsair Ram modules instead
17 - plug the psu cable back in
Since then, everything is working fine
Thanks to all who tried to support me in this operation.

  • [Gnome 3] Terminal notification window [solved]

No, dconf is no gconf equivalent, you simply use the gconf entry and it will work. gnome3 is not gconf-independet, most settings are still made there.

  • [Openbox] Maximised windows [solved]

    Hi guys,
I have a couple of applications which I want to have maximised main windows, such as Inkscape.
However I do not want the dialog windows of that application to be maximised as well.
How can I define that in Openbox?
My rc.xml which is not supporting this right now.
    <application class="Chrome">
    <maximized>yes</maximized>

    <application class="Zathura">

    <application type="dialog">
    <maximized>no</maximized>

I mentioned it already in the last post.
Again, this window should not be maximised:
    _OB_APP_TYPE(UTF8_STRING) = "normal"
    _OB_APP_TITLE(UTF8_STRING) = "Export Bitmap (Shift+Ctrl+E)"
    _OB_APP_CLASS(UTF8_STRING) = "Inkscape"
    _OB_APP_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "inkscape"
    _OB_APP_ROLE(UTF8_STRING) =
This window, the main window, should:
    _NET_WM_STATE(ATOM) = _NET_WM_STATE_MAXIMIZED_VERT, _NET_WM_STATE_MAXIMIZED_HORZ
    _OB_APP_TYPE(UTF8_STRING) = "normal"
    _OB_APP_TITLE(UTF8_STRING) = "New document 1 - Inkscape"
    _OB_APP_CLASS(UTF8_STRING) = "Inkscape"
    _OB_APP_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "inkscape"
    _OB_APP_ROLE(UTF8_STRING) =
    _NET_WM_VISIBLE_ICON_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "New document 1 - Inkscape"
    _NET_WM_VISIBLE_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "New document 1 - Inkscape"

  • IRSSI and Terminal Window [SOLVED]

    Hello,
I recently installed Arch with Fluxbox in order to try it and I'm wondering if there is a way to start a terminal window then automatically have it run a command.
For example, I'm currently working on editing my fluxbox menu and want to be able to open irssi automatically from the menu rather than having to open a terminal window to start it.  At first I tried just setting the command as "irssi" but this doesn't do anything.  Is there some way I can open a terminal window then have it execute irssi automatically?
    Thanks in advance!
Last edited by celestialorb (2009-07-31 03:51:44)

Yes you can do this, but the method is semi-dependent upon which terminal you're using. Urxvt looks like this:
    urxvt -e sh -c irssi
where sh is the shell you want to launch the command under.
EDIT: Beaten to the punch. You can use smurnjiff's method, if it works for you - but I've found that unless you specify a shell, urxvt fails to keep a window around long enough to do anything with the command. Works fine with one shot deals though - such as 'mpc prev' or similar.

  • Refresh Rate in X Windows (SOLVED)

I set up an xorg.conf and it recognizes the attached monitor, but it displays with a refresh rate of 60.  I would like the refresh rate of 76.  In the radeon driver's output, it states that it recognizes the monitor can handle 1280x1024 at 76.  Does anyone know what I need to change so I can get the higher refresh rate?
I am guessing that this is the reason for the poor display quality.

I do have DDC.  It correctly recognizes the monitor.  The problem is that the monitor operates both at 60 Hz and 76 Hz.  I'm guessing the low-quality image is due to the fact that it is running at 60 Hz.

  • [SOLVED] XFCE - Incorrect windows placement

    Hi,
I'm currently having a issue with XFCE's window placement. In the settings panel, under Window Manager Tweaks > Placement, window placement is set to Center for all windows, but this option has no effect. I tried changing it to place windows under the mouse, but it also has no effect on the windows placement. Windows keep opening on the screen corners.
I checked the forums for similar problems, and found some results, but none of the solutions worked for me. Also, those are quite old topics.

Shouldn't you actually have it on the maximum value?
I believe the way this works is that the size (or ratio, the option is actually called placement_ratio IIRC and is a ratio of window size vs screen size) you specify here is the minimum to trigger "smart placement." If the window isn't (at least) of that size, then the default (i.e. center or under mouse pointer, as defined below) will be used. So if you want every window to use the default placement, you should set the minimum size for smart placement to be as large as possible. (In fact, I believe with a ratio set to 100 (i.e. slider to the max) it should always use the default placement, regardless of window size, which is want you're after if I'm not wrong.)
If even with the slider to the max you get new windows placed using smart placement, then it sounds like a bug I'd say.
(Also, just as FYI and though you might simply want all windows to be centered, I wasn't happy with xfwm's smart placement myself, you can see this topic for a (IMO) better alternative.)
