Jmf in ocap environment

let' s say i have 2 channels (2 services consisting of video)
now i am in channel 1, i create a player, say:
locator =locatorFactory.createLocator("ocap://0x2");
player = javax.media.Manager.createPlayer(new javax.media.MediaLocator( locator.toString()));
player.start();
but then i won't be able to see the video in channel 2 playing in my current channel, which is channel 1.
and if i create a player to play the video in channel 1, i can see it. and can stop it.
does it mean, in ocap, we can only see the video in current channel, yet may or may not be able to control video in other channels, coz we can not see it.
in mhp ,i am sure i can play other channel's video.

sorry, i found my mistake. ignore me~~

  • JMF in Client-Server-Client Environment

    I am working on VoiceChat Application which is developed in Java2 and using JMF 2.1.1 for Audio Streaming. Basically a SignedApplet is sent to Client after he gets authencated(username and password)Along with applet i am send all the jar that are required for the application to run(archive=App.jar, JMF.jar). These jar are signed with a Self-Certified key using keytool which comes with java-sdk. Here when i am trying to capture or play audio on the client machine its giving NoProcessor Exception. Is it necessary to install JMF in client system also.
    I require some solution for run the (JMF)processor or player on the client side without installing JMF on the client machine. Is it possible to run processor and player on the client side only by sending the required (JMF.jar) class files as archive for the applet.
    Please help me.

  • Unable to capture video from webcam in JMF in xlet

    hi
    I am unable to capture video from webcam in an Xlet. I am using Xletview to run Xlet. The method CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(vidformat) returns empty array. Which videoformat should I use and why do I get empty array?

    MHP and OCAP only use JMF 1.0, which does not include support for capturing video. You will not be able to do this in any current MHP/OCAP imlementation that I know of.

  • Cannot install JMF under Linux Mandrake 10

    I simply cannot install JMF under the Mandrake 10 Official Linux distribution. I downloaded the jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin file and tried to execute it as root. It unzipped some files then showed me an error message about AWT and GTK+. I found a hack consisting of modifying the .bin file to have the PATH variable point to SUN JDK, the error does not show up, but the installation still does not work. In fact, the installation works, but the Diagnostics applet keeps telling me than class files are not present. My Mozilla 1.6 Java plugin is working and displaying the applet. My JMF lib directory does not contain sound.jar, such jmf.jar. I set the CLASSPATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH according to the readme.html file. I would like to know if it is a compatibility problem with Mandrake 10, the 2.6 kernel or if JMF just DO NO work under Linux. In the latter case, JMF is a violation to the Java portability philosophy and I would never use it on my own initiative, just if I were asked to.
    After the files are unzipped, I have the following warning and error messages.
    Warning:

    scrollbar value minus the scrollbar slider size.

    Even if I do not have a working video capture card (I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 128 but it is not working under 2.6 kernel), JMF should work because some people do not have a video capture card. I also tried with the cross-platform ZIP file, but this one does not contain sound.jar either and the Diagnostics applet keeps complaining about missing class files. I tried to search on the Web for solutions to this problem or for a way to change the CLASSPATH used by the Mozilla Java plug-in (if it uses a different CLASSPATH than the one from the environment variable), but nothing, nothing. Is there a distribution from which JMF would work better than Mandrake 10? Or can JMF work only under Microsoft Windows or Sun Solaris? I also tried Blackdown, but a README file directed me to the Sun's page, nothing to download here about JMF.

    well, your not the only one.
    I have it working in Debian, and JDS.(JMF is setup automatically in JDS).(2.6.6 kernel)
    I looked at the installation structure of JDS, and was able to duplicate what they did for Debian.
    Maybe it will work for Mandrake two??
    ok, all you have to do is copy or create soft links from your Mozilla directory, just like you did with the java plugin, and link to all the *.so files in JMF-2.1.1e/lib directory.
    Should work.
    I also read that not haveing the native files only matters if you are doing Capture. not play.
    to get your ATI All-in-Wonder 128 to work, make sure you install the correct driver, and have it working under linux, then try it in JMSTUDIO

  • JMF-based applet can not detect audio devices on Vista (?)

    Hi,
    As many people reported, I encountered the same issue - CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList does not detect any audio device on IE/Vista.
    Here is my testing environment:
    HP XW4600, RealTek HD Audio onboard sound card,
    Vista SP1 (Business, Home Premium, and Vista64)
    JRE1.5.0_16, JMF2.1.1e
    A recording Applet runs in IE7 (which works fine on XP and its Java application version always works fine on Vista)
    I have tried a number of things without success:
    1)Use different audio formats as the input parameter for getDeviceList
    2)Try CaptureDeviceManager.getDevice(new String("DirectSoundCapture"))
    3)CaptureDeviceInfo info = new CaptureDeviceInfo(com.sun.media.protocol.dsound.DataSource.NAME,new MediaLocator("dsound://"),null);
    4) Vector devices = (Vector) CaptureDeviceManager.getDeviceList(null).clone();
    5)Uncheck UAC(Vista User Access Control)
    6)Set IE settings least restrictive
    7)Try signed or unsigned recording Applet
    8)Pack the recording Applet to a jar and deploy to JRE\lib\ext
    9)Run JMFInit and copy the files in JMF\Lib to System32 folder
    On a few occasions, audio devices can be detected. For examples,
    10)Upgrading an HP XW4200 (XP machine with AC97 codecs driver) to Vista,
    11)1/5 chance on the machines with both Sun JRE and MS Java SDK installed.
    12)Trying Item # 9. it worked once on one machine, but after rebuilding the machine, the same trick does not play.
    I am wondering if there is a way to let JMF-based applets detect audio devices on Vista or this is an inherent problem with JMF, IE and Vista.
    I would appreciate it very much if youd kindly offer any help and suggestions.
    -Belfield

    >
    I would appreciate it very much if you'd kindly offer any help and suggestions. >I suspect the basic problem here, is the installer that defaults to preventing the applet access to record sound (I am guessing that would 'spill over' into web-cam permissions). A quick test of that is to try the same code as an application.
    If the application works, one possible fix is to launch the application using webstart. Webstart will work from a web page, and offers many other advantages over a standard applet.

  • Signed Applet problems in Vista + JMF

    Hi All,
    I'm new to Java Applet programming. I wrote an application which works as a VoIP Client in a webpage (Using JMF). Its working very fine in allmost all Windows XP machines.
    But not in Windows Vista machines. In Vista i'm getting the following error :
    "No permission to capture from applet" - Since its a Signed applet. The application is digitally signed from a CA. Even though its not working in Vista (IE and Mozilla Firefox also).
    I have went through the following link which says IE in Vista will run on protected mode, so Signed Applet will not have all the permission eventhough its signed for "AllPermission".
    ----- http://java.sun.com/javase/6/webnotes/install/system-configurations.html
    And also I'm not able to create a customized jar file for JMF using JMF Customizer. (JMF Customizer is an application which creates a jar file with specified classes). While creating a jar file I'm getting particular class is not available. (In Windows XP, this class is compilled at run time).
    Please let me know the following things,
    a) Is there any security settings i have to make to run Signed Applet in Windows Vista ?
    b) What is Java Policy file? I don't have any policy file - will it affect the application ?
    c) Do I need to sign each applet (say i have 5 applets in single jar file) ?
    d) In Vista how Mozilla Firefox are running (like IE7's restricted environment or XP compatiable mode) ?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Karthikeyan R

    I have exatly the same problem but not with the class itself. I have the problem with an jar that my class calls.
    I use jdk1.4.2. I think it's basicaly the same problem as "lfpgMW".
    I'll also whould like an idea...
    thanks

  • JMF Diagnostics applet - how to resolve "JMF Classes not found"

    I am still having problems trying to get my USB camera to run in an applet.
    I'm using Windows XP with IE 6.
    I found the JMF Diagnostic Applet and when I run it, I get the following:
    Java 1.1 compliant browser.....Maybe
    JMF classes.....Not Found
    The text below says that CLASSPATH needs to include jmf.jar
    I have checked that and it does. I added all the jar files to the CLASSPATH as well and that did not help.
    I saw another post that said the JMFHOME environment variable needed to be set to the main JMF directory.
    I did that and still get the same error.
    Can anyone tell me what I need to set in order to make the JMF Diagnostic applet work???
    Thanks,

    I have exactly the same problem. Running XP pro and Java 5. Installed JMF2.1.1e and the diagnostic doesn't work. Don't know how to verify or set the CLASSPATH but assumed it was more plug and play.
    I'm a student and am writing my final year project which is supposed to be a multi-client concurrency based video clip app. All the sample codes I've seen make it look quite easy. I was wanting to prototype my concepts before I continue (glad there are some nifty buffer controls) I've unistalled, reinstalled, restarted an no joy and the only help that seems might work includes loads more files than what my distribution has (just have jmf.jar, customizer.jar, multiplayer,jar, mediaplayer.jar and sound.jar and that's it.
    I was a little worred about the need to have the API on my test client machines (aka housemates) now I'm really worried.

  • Failed in JMF diagnostics in netscape browser 7

    I installed J2sdk 1.4.3 and jmf2.1.1e in Redhat Linux 7.3 and following their installation instruction to set up some environment variables. However I encountered two problems in configuring JMF.
    One is that when I configured the jmf-2_1_1e-linux-i586.bin, some error messages came up as following,
    java.lang.error: Can't open video card 1
    ....................................................................2
    ....................................................................3
    .....................................................................9"
    The second one is that after I run JMF diagnostics applet program to verify JMF installation. However, it failed with the following error message,
    "Java1.1 compliant browser... Maybe
    JMF classes.... Not Found"
    I do not what is wrong with JMF installation. Does this failure come from uncompatible version between Java SDK and JMF, netscape browser or other things?
    Thanks for your time to reply.

    Did you set up the JMFHOME environment variable ?
    That would account for the classes not found bit.
    Not sure if you also need to set up ld.library.path... ( or something similarly named ).
    I haven't done much on Linux, but very carefully read the install docs...
    regards,
    Owen

  • Classpath problems with JMF

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to develop a simple application using JMF; I've problems importing classes from javax.media package. Problem with my application is that when I explicitly specify classpath as a command line argument to javac my application compiles; but if I use CLASSPATH environment variable it doesn't. Here's the output:
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ cat First.java
    import javax.media.*;
    public class First{
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ echo $CLASSPATH
    /home/situ/jmf/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/jmf.jar:/home/situ/jmf/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/sound.jar:.:
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ javac First.java
    First.java:1: package javax.media does not exist
    import javax.media.*;
    ^
    1 error
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ javac -classpath /home/situ/jmf/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/jmf.jar First.java
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$
    Thanks.

    According to the documentation, it wants you to set two environmental variables, JMFHOME and CLASSPATH. And it wants the CLASSPATH to be relative to that JMFHOME variable.
    Try this.
    setenv JMFHOME /home/someuser/JMF2.1.1
    setenv CLASSPATH $JMFHOME/lib/jmf.jar:.:${CLASSPATH}

  • Not stable displaying in JMF

    Hello everyone,
    This is a beginer in JMF. I meet two problems, and hopefully you can help me to figure out:
    1. When I can display a movie using JMF, it works very well. However, if I drag the movie from time to time on the screen, then I will see part of the movie frozen. I tried in realone player, and there is no such problem.
    2. In my program, I resize the player, and then the menu bar does not react to my click.

    Hello captfoss!
    The Linux video drivers are buggy. If you give them video they don't like, they crash.You seem to repeat this statement quite often......but I don't think s/he is using Linux. S/He is using Solaris10 !!!
    I don't know if Linux and Solaris are same OS.............
    Thanks! And please don't take it as a comment! :-)

    Hi ,
    I need one help from your side.
    Here I am expecting some clarifications from you. Before that let you my environement.
    My working environment :
    Eclipse tool and added jmf jar to my project I did not do any thing more.
    If any thing I need to do just let me know. My target platform is MAC & UBUNTU.
    Please bare with my questions.
    1) I am not able to recognize any video/audio devices using jmf and java sound APIs on My system.
    ( I checked with the app mentioned in the http://www.java-forums.org/new-java/11201-jmf-cannot-connect-device.html )
    Do we need any administrives rights for our working PC.
    What is the procedure/ setup I need to follow from a java application to enable particular audio/video device since I dont about end-user system setup right.
    If possible send some sample code to recognize /r detect audio device ( voice input ). It should run on both MAC and UBUNTU.
    2) I run the one sample audio recording application of this link (http://www.jsresources.org/examples/SimpleAudioRecorder.java.html) which is provided by YOU.
    I got output audio file and able to hear voice on UBUNTU system but not able to hear voice on MAC system.
    I heared that default line in ( audio setup of the sys) is wont take any voice data on MAC.Why I made this stmt means we are getting false when using isSupported methods of JAVA SOUND API.
    ( like for TragetdataLine ...i,e, all ports are getting false)
    I have one sample audio recording app implemented by QUICKTIME API. In this case also he taking audio ftom device only using quicetime API.
    With that we are able to record and hear audio ( voice input --> not line in , external device we added some thing like SSB...)
    3) In case of Video capturing DataSource, Streams are implemented by PullBufferDataSource , PullBufferStream intefaces used.
    In case of Audio capturing DataSource, Streams are implemented by PushBufferDataSource, PushBufferStream intefaces used.
    Can you explain the reasons ? I gone through API but i am not clear.
    HOPE I WILL BE CLARIFIED EVERY THING FROM YOU.
    Thanks

  • JMF... Classes Not Found

    Hello,
    Although I have put the CLASSPATH as it should be in my environment variables ( I am using windows XP for the moment, but I had the same problem on Linux Kubuntu ), I still can't have the Diagnostics applet working.
    Any ideas to solve this ...
    Thanks

    JMF Version... 2.1.2
    All Java Build
    Native Libraries Found
    I have posted this many times.
    Basically, the best way to get it to work, is stick with Suns java, do not use blackdown or gij. Uninstall, actually never install, cause some links are always left behind. Major manual process that is not worth the effort, just only ever install SUN.
    OK, I'll show my java directories, there used to be a problem with jmf and 1.5 but it got fixed, I have not used 1.6 but this should still work.

    OK, so basically all jmf *.jar files go in your JRE/lib/ext, and all your jmf lib*.so go in JRE/lib/i386/ directory.
    After you install JMF into JMF2.1.1/ directory manually copy all those file, into your JRE.
    This works.
    Some files that I have listed may be missing, or I may not have ones you have, but basically that is it.
    Just setting JMF_HOME and CLASSPATH is not enough, you must copy the files into the correct location.

  • Please help me with setting up JMF on xp

    Hi,
    I've installed JMF, but when I try to run the JMF Diagnostics Applet I get the following error:
    java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: JMFDiagnostics
    I'm sure I have set the correct classpath variables,i.e.
    c:\java\JMF2.1.1E\lib\sound.jar;
    c:\java\JMF2.1.1E\lib\jmf.jar;
    c:\java\JMF2.1.1E\lib\custom.jar;
    c:\java\JMF2.1.1E\bin;
    c:\java\JMF2.1.1E\lib;
    but I just can't get it to work.
    I would really appreciate some guidance here so I can make some progress.
    Thanks

    I have been using JMF and developing JMF applications on Windows XP. There is no problem.
    I suggest that you install "JMF windows performance kit". After you have installed it, check your CLASSPATH variables under My Computer -> Advance ->Environment Variables.
    Check if the CLASSPATH variable exists in System variables and User variables. If you find CLASSPATH variables in both System and User variables you should combine them into one, i.e., only one CLASSPATH variable should exists. It could either be in User Variables or System variables. But never in both places.
    After that check that your "<java installation directory>\bin" path is the first path int the PATH environment variable. Again this can either be under System or User but should never exist in both places.
    After that you can try and run Diaganostic Applet again to see if everything is alright...
    good luck.
