JPasswordField in Solaris problem

Hey all,
I have a program that will be running on windows and solaris. This program contains a JPasswordField. On windows, the field is fine, and by that i mean, that there is no way i can copy the contents to another text field and view the contents.
In my solaris, i can highlight the password field and do a center button "paste" on the mouse and it will copy the password into another text field. The password is in clear text so i can read exactly what was typed in. Has anyone experienced this before? is there a way to fix this??
Thanks,
Jason

You might try setting ORACLE_SID=EPRC.

  • Installing Solaris Problems

    I am trying to install Solaris 8. I downloaded the free cd images and made cd's. My problem is I can't get it the install program to boot. I downloaded the device config assistant and with that, it will boot. It goes through some configurations, and then restarts. The problem is when it restarts, I am back where I started. If I take the floppy out, it boots to windows, if I leave the floppy in, the device config assistant comes up again and it goes through the exact same thing, and restarts again. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be appreciated! Thanks!

    I guess you have installed Solaris on oder drive as the boot one. If it is the case, make sure the x86boot system file ist mount on the c0d0 disk (i.e. your first drive), so the installation will create a boot manager to let you choose wich boot device you want to boot. You need 10Mb free on this drive to mount it there.

  • Solaris problem:  libmawt.so not found

    I also posted this message to the JRE group. Sorry it you've already seen it there. Not sure which group is right for this topic
    Whenever I try to run any graphic application on my Solaris machine, I get a fatal exception:
    "libmawt.so: open failed: No such file or directory".
    This happens if I try to execute appletviewer or run a graphic program from the comand line. Applets inside the browser (NS 4.7) do not have this problem.
    I have libmawt.so on my system in a couple of places:
    $JAVA_HOME/jre/motif12/libmawt.so
    $JAVA_HOME/jre/motif21/libmawt.so
    but the system can't seem to find the files. Is there some environment variable that must be set???
    Using jdk 1.3.1 on Solaris 7 (2.7)
    TIA
    Pete

    Nevermind, I found the answer -- should have searched for previous postings.
    "Solved" it by establishing a soft link to one of the existing files:
    ..jre/lib/sparc/libmawt.so -> ..jre/lib/sparc/motif21/libmawt.so

  • Solaris Problem

    Hey!
    I have develop a program in Windows and it works fine there! now i have to move it over to Solaris, there have been alot of problems doing this!
    The program is supose to show defferences between two docs(own format) this docs can contain Tabels, text, digrams and alot more.
    The problem have been the to display the document with the differences markt in colors.
    firs i tryued to use graphics.drawtext and .drawLine and so on. This workt fine one the windows computer but in solaris it hade big preformance problems. I notice that the .drawstring took alot of preformance so i desided to display the text by creating a styled document and then add this to a JTextPane, but i also hade to over ride Paintcomponent to be abled to paint the tables, diagrams and so on. this version is showing good preformance in solaris and windows.
    But there is still alot of problems.
    when changing size on the text and reloading the page it is not changing the siplay size in solaris(works in Windows)
    The text is not marked all the way out on the right side, and if i select the text with the mouse the text that is not makrt is becoming white as the background.
    Is there anything i am missing here? why is this not working in solaris when it works so well in Windows? Maby there is another way to display my text, diagrams and so on in Solaris with out this problems?
    The Docs could look like this
    HEAD
    info
    info
    START OF PAGE
    texttexttexttexttext Drawings to the text
    text Drawings to the text
    texttexttext table to the text
    text table to the text
    textvtexttexttext table to the text
    texttexttext table to the text
    END
    I have workt along time on this problem and would be wary GLAD if someone have the time to help me.

  • JPasswordField and JButton Problem

    Happy New Year to all of you guys and gals. Here's the problem
    I have a String Array of buttons made already .. The design and measuring of the buttons are similar to a regular calculator.
    Now depending on the button that I press I set the text of the JPasswordField to "whatever", which is wrong because it's not being appended. So there has to be another way to do this.
    Take a calculator or bank for example. You press one button, it shows, and press the same button, so you have two digits appear on screen. That's exactly what I'm looking for. But I'm stuck...
    Here's the code to create the buttons
    for (int i = 0; i < 13; i++)
    button[i] = new JButton(Buttons);
    button[i].addActionListener(this);
    button[i].setFont(new Font("Comic Sans MS", Font.BOLD, 12));
    button[i].setSize(50, 30);
    button[i].setLocation(x, y);
    button[i].setBackground(Color.darkGray);
    button[i].setForeground(Color.white);
    button[i].setBorder(BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder(EtchedBorder.RAISED, Color.black, Color.lightGray));
    theKeysP.add(button[i]);
    x = x + 50;
    if((i + 1) % 4 == 0)
    x = 210;
    y = y + 30;
    if(i == 12)
    button[i].setLocation(410, 65);
    button[i].setBackground(Color.green);
    button[i].setForeground(Color.black);
    Lets say starting from button 0 to 5 are numbers starting from 1 - 6
    Since I'm clicking on the button it's an ActionEvent,
    so If(e.getSource() == button[0])
    PF.setText("1"); //Wrong because it's not being appended. Therefore it resets everytime button[0] is clicked.
    I hope this I made clear enough. Can anyone provide suggestions for this problem.

    Try doing it this way instead
    password.setText( password.getText() + "1" );Next time please use the code tags when posting

  • Install Solaris problem

    I have installed Solaris 8(English version).
    Now I want to install multi-language CD on it.
    When I install it on SPARC machine, it represented "install failed".
    It is all eight languages on that multi-language on that CD.
    I can install seven languages of that CD.
    But I can't install 'Traditional Chinese Language' on my SPARC machine.
    I assured my multilingual CD is normal.
    I try to reinstall my SPARC machine and the problem is the same.
    Does somebody encounter this problem?
    If you have any idea about this please tell me.

    I already bought the zip driv ~ 130$, and so don't wan to spend more on some floppy drive.
    And the borrowing/begging option isn't possible since I know no body in this new place of mine.
    And I can't "steal".... out of the question.
    Any other suggestion more related to the Ranish PM or some other similar software that helps convert FAT32 to Solaris parition? I know Partition Magic doesn't even recognize Solaris partition since I have one.

    The installations start well .. I even provide the network setttings, hostr name .. ant the rest . But when it now starts to copy the files, I get the error "No disk found"
    Could it be because of the server uses ATA technology? If so how can I go about it?
    Have someone ever used this ML 330? or point me to a link I can get help.

  • JDBC   Windows to Solaris Problem

    I'm currently working on a project (for school). It is a retail Point of Sale System. I'm using MS Access 2000 as my database. I originally did my testing in windows using the JDBC-ODBC bridge, but the final product (demonstartion and marking) will be in our Sun Lab on a machine with Solaris 8. What code/configuration do I need to change to make this work? Which driver should I use?

    I didn't want to use Access, just the MDB file, can
    that be done? If not, what database would you
    recommend?I am guessing no. You could of course write your own code which accesses the file via the java.io stuff. But to do that you are going to have to figure out the format of the database file. And you would also have to do something about your SQL queries, since you would also have to handle those (or dispense with those.)

  • Solaris 10 - dates getting set to 1-1-1970

    I dont have a lot of detail about this but lately I have seen a very strange thing occur on Oracle 10g in the Solaris 10 environment.
    Sometimes I have date fields that get populated with 1970 dates or pre 1970 dates. I cant really say how the dates are being generated. In some cases they are generated through java apps, in other cases they are being moved from one Database (instance) to another through sql. So it could be the ETL process that has the problem. Not sure in all cases where the ETL server resides.
    But in general has anyone seen an Oracle patch or Solaris problem that would cause Oracle or the OS to return the wrong date, specifically usually prior to or right around the Unix 1970 beginning of time?
    In all these cases, I am assuming that the solaris os, java, and the databases are properly patched for DST.
    The problem occurs randomly, so a user can insert data, have the createdate set to 2/16/1970, turn around and enter another set of data and the create date is correct, so something like 5/20/2008.
    Again, I am unclear how the create date is generated, I dont know if it is with a SQL call, a java call, or an os call. I am just grasping at straws for ideas or other places to go to get more information.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.

    Oracle is consistent with the time, so this could be due to format missmatch at the source data prior to the ETL process. I suggest you to verify the source data and check if a default date is provided in case the source data misses to insert it. It cannot randomly occur, I suggest you to double check the ETL stages to make sure they provide accurate data and in case it doesn't happen to be so, reject the rows or have a failover routine that fix the wrong data.

  • Solaris 10 with MySQL 5.5

    Hi,
    I have posted similar question in MySQL forums, but I'm not sure if this is due to MySQL or Solaris problem.
    Does anyone know why MySQL 5.5 stops suddenly in Solaris 10 when an error ocurrs in sql script.
    I run mysql from command line instead as service by next command from /opt/mysql/mysql/bin/: bash mysqld_safe --datadir=/export/home/mysql/data &.
    And i have setted my-innodb-heavy-4G.cnf as /etc/my.cnf config file.
    Is there any system log (other tan mysql) where can i find what is happening? how can i see who sends shutdown signal to MySQL?
    Thanks

    About permissions problem, i have tested launching MySQL as root and the problem continue.
    MySQL works fine, applications (Pentaho on tomcat) works fine for a large period, and suddenly MySQL stops.
    I have launched truss (truss -rall -wall) on MySQL pid and these are certain results. I cannot interpret this info. I have only detected the block when first shutdown ocurrs. Anybody is able to interpret this info? thanks.

  • WL61SP4 EJBC recompilation problem

    I am attempting to upgrade from WL6.1SP1 to WL6.1SP4. I have installed my server
    on Solaris using an installation from weblogic610sp4_sol.bin. I compiled my beans
    on NT using an installation from weblogic610sp4_win.exe. Everything builds fine.
    At deployment time, I get the message below for every bean. My goal is no recompilation
    at all. I have tried to insure that I have no
    remnants of SP1 on the build (NT) side of the equation.
    I installed in a a new bea home, and I double-checked the registry.xml file.
    The "build on NT, deploy on Solaris" thing is something we have done since 5.1
    with
    no problems like this, so I'm guessing it is not a NT vs. Solaris problem. I'm
    using the same compiler (Jikes 1.17) on both boxes.
    How does the WL version get encoded at build time and verified at deploy time?
    Any ideas as to what may be different under SP4?

    Hello,
    I currently meet the same problem. In my case, I compile and deploy my ejb
    on the same machine (w2k running wls6.1sp4). And since I upgrades to sp4,
    here what happens :
    - older ejb compiled with previous version of service pack are recompiled
    when starting (only once). I think it's normal.
    - if I change method signature or method implementation on an ejb compiled
    with sp4, weblogic doesn't see changes if it's method implementation or
    throws an exception if it was method signature change.
    If I want the problem to disappear, I must delete .wlnotdelete and the
    tmp... dir
    I think I will open a case at BEA.
    Reagrds,
    Dom

    On both the NT and Solaris side, "java weblogic.version" produces:
    WebLogic Server 6.1 SP4 11/08/2002 21:50:43 #221641
    WebLogic XML Module 6.1 SP4 11/08/2002 22:04:40 #221641
    The wlgenerated files in the beans I am trying to deploy read:
    #Fri Mar 07 14:02:15 EST 2003
    WLRELEASE_BUILD_VERSION=6.1.4.0
    Again, the deployment on Solaris recompiles all of my EJBs. Even deployingon
    the NT box where they were built leads to 5 out of 30 EJBs beingrecompiled.
    I made sure to remove the .../wlserver6.1/tmp_* directories on Solarisbefore
    deploying.
    Any other ideas as to what I may be doing wrong, or is this a known SP4problem?

    Check the output of 'java weblogic.version' on both machines and ensure
    it is the same.
    ejbc (in 6.x or later) includes a file in the output ejb-jar which
    includes the compilation version-stamp. The server compares this with
    its own version and recompiles if there is any difference.
