.jpg.jpg When exporting & other issues

I guess something changed in iPhoto 08. It used to be when I imported from my camera, I would change the name of a photo from 1213231.jpg to cat.jpg. Then when I exported to a folder on my Mac it would export cat.jpg. Now if I rename and I export it, it calls it cat.jpg.jpg. If I just name it cat when it is exported it calls it cat.jpg . I guess I missed that in the change notes. When did it happen. Also. When it exports to the folder, the folder exports it alphabetical by name. Is there a way to sort it by the meta data i.e. when taken?

That is correct

What you see in the folder is determined by the finder sort criteria - there are different ways that you can instruct the finder to display the contents of folders - the "when it was taken" is in the EXIF fields and the finder does not look at them

  • How to avoid double extension *jpg.tif when exporting layers to files?

Please help, I checked all the topics related and it seems nobody bothers about this issue.
When I do a Photomerge of a series of jpg files, Photoshop builds a multilayered file - but preserves in the name of each layer *.jpg
When I want now to export layers to files, the Scripting function will do the dumb thing and export each file with the original name - ending in JPG - , plus the extension required by me - for ex tif.
It does the same if I chose to export as jpg files and puts double extension again < *.JPG.jpg> at the end of each file exported from a layer.
I looked everywhere and couldn't find a way to solve this behavior, which forces me to do batch renames in Bridge.
The next program where I need the files (After Effects) doesn't want to import these files with double extensions.
Has anyone encountered this issue and what can be done to avoid these double extensions at Scripts/Export layers to files?
    Thanks for the answer

I have just altered my script so that it will remove the extentions if found.
    http://www.scriptsrus.talktalk.net/Layer%20Saver.htm
Also it would be better to use :-
    var layerName = activeDocument.activeLayer.name.replace(/\....$/,'');
As this way it doesn't arbitory remove the last four characters, only if it finds a fullstop.

  • Jpgs oversaturate when replicated other places

I don't know if this is a Photoshop problem or a 10.4.11 problem, but it starts with image files created in PS CS3. I create an image file to my satisfaction. If I want to transport it somewhere I create a jpg version using Save As or Image Processor script. Then I drag and drop, cut and paste, or use the Mail Attach function to add the jpg to an e-mail message. When I do, the image is severely over-saturated, as if I had increased the Saturation by +50 or something.
One odd thing is that it just started happening spontaneously about six months ago after years of perfect function: The inserted image looked just like the PS original. I can't imagine what setting I could accidentally change that would result in this. Obviously it can't involve monitor calibration because it all is happening on the same monitor.
Another odd thing: Some people receiving the e-mail see the file as over-saturated, some don't. I created a jpg in Photoshop, then saved a screen grab of it. Then I saved the jpg itself and uploaded both onto the Internet for others in my Macintosh guild to observe. Three of four saw no difference, while the fourth saw a dramatic difference - all remotely on their own computers.
Here's the original jpg in Photoshop, captured by screen grab:
    http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/frmeads/screengrab.jpg
    Here's the saved jpg:
    http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/frmeads/Saved-see.jpg
    Any ideas?

    Hi, Lundberg02,
Thanks for the feedback. FYI, I am not using the Grab function; I am using Cmd-Shft-4, which lets me marquee the screen image area to capture and turns it into "picture 1.jpg" stored on my desktop. That, renamed, is what I uploaded to a remote server for Web perusing. Thus neither of the two sample images I posted for comparison is a tiff. Does that suggest any other explanations, or am I missing something?
I just replicated my process to ensure I am describing it accurately. Picture 1.jpg matches the saturation of screengrab.jpg:
    http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/frmeads/Picture1.jpg
intriguingly, when I opened "picture 1.jpg" in PS CS3 and screen-grabbed it as described above, doing so reversed the process, DEsaturating the image:
    http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn24/frmeads/Picture2.jpg
Now I am totally mystified. Any more ideas? Keep in mind that the original process of saving a file as a jpg did not involve the Grab tool or screen grab.

  • 'file could not be written due to an error' when exporting jpg

I'm working with an Illustrator file in CS2 and after a certain point it has started saying 'the file could not be written due to an error' when exporting to a jpg.
i've tried a couple things like deleting layers and although the file is much smaller, it still says the same error when exporting.
at its highest it was 130mb as an illustrator file and jpgs were 2-5mb.
i''ve tried copying some of the layers into a new file but the error report still comes when i'm exporting.
i have vector and raster based data in the file and tried turning off/deleting either of the layers and there is no difference.
i don't understand why it's started doing this because before it had no problem at all exporting before.
ANY IDEAS ANYONE?  I'm trying not to have to reproduce days of work to remake the file.
    many thanks,
    P

    Mylenium,
Sounds like you know a good deal about this product.  Is there any way to restore a color profile/setting to an earlier point?
I don't recall changing it and to tell you the truth, wouldn't be able to say which it may have been set to before - if different.
    Thanks,
    Paul

  • All my photos in the iphoto have disappeared, not sure if this related to any iphoto upgrade or other issue, tried to find the photos through the finder (JPG or photo) but failed, can you help me to get back my photos please?

All my photos in the iphoto have disappeared, not sure if this related to any iphoto upgrade or other issue, tried to find the photos through the finder (JPG or photo) but failed, can you help me to get back my photos please?

Help us to help you: There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Wrong size when exporting to jpg

    Hello everyone,
I'm new to Illustrator, would really appreciate all the help and tips
I'm trying to create a wallpaper of certains size. I'm creating an artboard with dimentions 1024px by 768 px, all is fine. However, then I export my artwork into jpeg using File -> Export option. I'm getting a file which is 4267px by 3200px. I don't know what I'm doing wrong and it's very frustrating! Would really appreciate any help.
I'm exporting with the following settings:
    Quality: 10
    Color Model: CMYK
    Method: Baseline (Standard)
    Resolution Depth: High
Options: Anti-Alias and Embed ICC Profile are ticked.

    dkropotova wrote:
Another question along the lines. Is it better to create a file with the 72 PPI from the beginning or to change it when exporting to jpeg?
Illustrator files have no resolution, as measured in PPI, until the art is rasterized. This means that the only time you can make the art 72 ppi is when you export to JPG. The exceptions would be anything that is rasterized (Object > Rasterize) or any raster effect such as Drop Shadow, any Glow effects, or anything below the fold in the Effect menu. Effects are rasterized according to Effect > Document Raster Effects Settings.
I often find Photoshop does a better job rasterizing than Illustrator. You can open the AI file in Photoshop and rasterize at any resolution, then resample to 72 ppi. I suggest using 288 ppi, which is exactly four time 72 ppi, then either resample or use Save for Web and Devices and scale to 25%.

  • Preserve folder structure when exporting JPGs?

Is there a way to preserve the folder structure of a catalog when exporting JPGs of everything to a new location? I know there is an option to save the export into the same folder as the original file, but i am talking about a completely new location. That would be really helpful.

Lightroom doesn't support it directly. However, try this plug-in http://photographers-toolbox.com/blog/2009/06/exporting-a-folder-hierarchy-from-lightroom- lrtreeexporter-released/

  • Issues with black psd files on black backgrounds when exported to PDF.

    Hello there,
I'm having an issue since I upgraded to leopard and moved all my stuff from my old macbook pro (running OSX 10.4) to my new macbook pro (running OSX 10.5). CS3 didn't seem to have any problems before but now when I export an Indesign file with a black background containing a photoshop layered tif with a black background to pdf, the appears to be a big difference between the blacks - the Indesign file's black appears to be a mid grey.
    Any help would be appreciated!
Here's how it all looks in InDesign: http://aycu14.webshots.com/image/48613/2005862333507831436_rs.jpg
But this happens when exported and viewed in Acrobat (or preview etc.): http://aycu02.webshots.com/image/49801/2005871851784365159_rs.jpg

In ID prefs go to Appearance of Blacks
and set both instances to display Blacks Accurately.
You will need to measure the rich black in the Tiff and make a rich black swatch in ID and use that for your book cover. now the blacks will match.

  • Preview shrinks JPG's when added to PDF

I have an existing .PDF file, and if add a new page, then drop a .JPG file onto it, the picture shows very small with a large white border. In the Slideshow view it also appears very small.
If I open the .JPG on it's own in Preview, the picture shows as the correct size, but if I save it as a .PDF then re-open it has shrunk again. If I look at the info for the file, the dimensions are 612 * 792, whereas the .JPG file is 969 * 1331.
Why does Preview shrink .JPG pictures when added to an existing PDF, or saved as a new .PDF?

Edited to add - sorry, my description was slightly wrong.
If I open a single .JPG in a new Preview, and save it as a .PDF, the dimensions are fine. The issue only occurs if I try to add .JPG's to existing PDF's.
It also occurs if you use the shell to convert a single JPG image, i.e.
    "/System/Library/Printers/Libraries/./convert" -f /users/me/downloads/cvg06300162.jpg -o /users/me/downloads/cvg06300162.pdf
    - this gives the reduced size image as well.

  • Batch exporting give double suffix: filename.jpg.jpg

I can export a single file correctly, but when I export two or more files by command-clicking in iPhoto, the exported files are titled with a duplicate suffix: file.jpg.jpg.
The original file(s) is(are) titled file1.jpg, file2.jpg, new.jpg and so on. Nothing fancy.
How can I make file exporting provide the correct extension?
I liked iPhoto 6 bettter; this problem did not exist.

File Export : JPEG/Maximum / (unchecked: title and keywords)/ Full Size, Use title.
Each photo I have IN iPhoto includes, typed by me manually, the .jpg extension.
Again, though, the double-extension result only occurs if I export two or more files. A single file export has only one extension.
Could it be: related to the option "show extension" in the information panel of some files? A general or plugin specific option (apparently not within iPhoto) to include '.jpg' suffix? Did not occur in the last version of iPhoto.
I have not tried this withIN another account. I will if requested.
Complete aside: within this small part of the code, the grammar rules for capitalization are all over the place. What is the punctuational (new word, that one) difference between "Full Size" and "Use title", other than the capricious use of capital letters. Needs, at least, to be consistent. Consistent and correct would be preferred! (Martin, a prescriptive grammarian by nature)

  • No JPG option When saving from Previewer?

I liked the jpg option when saving a screencapture in Tiger. Why was that jpg option removed in Lion?
Now if you want to save a png image as a jpg you need to buy software to do that.
    Am I missing something?
    Thank you.

Export in .jpeg -- it's the same as .jpg -- an explaination for why it has a different extension but is the same thing can be found at the link below.

  • .jpg files created on iphone 4S are not recognized as .jpg files when uploading them to American Heart Assoc. website?

.jpg files created on Iphone 4S are not recognized as .jpg files when uplaoding to American Heart Association fund raising webpage? .jpg's from Canon camera uploaded without any problems? The website automatically reduces the file size to <100kb.

I haven't contacted AHA about this issue. The .jpg files created on Canon SLR uploaded correctly, but the photo from iPhone which was emailed to my PC using MS IE. The .jpg was browsed to from my desktop and is submitted. It shows up in draft form then when uploading it fails saying it is not a .jpg file or .png file? I have had other issues in the past emailing iPhone pictures. They were not editable after being sent to a PC. I guess we can retake photos with a non-Apple camera.

  • SSRS 2012 Conditional Formatting Color Issues When Exporting to Excel

    Hi all,
We recently upgraded to SQL 2012 from SQL2008 R2. I'm having a strange issue with SSRS2012.
One of the report has conditional formattings on cell background colors. Everything works fine when render the report in browser or preview mode. However, the conditional formatting stop working when export the report to Excel (no issues if
export to pdf). All cells are high-lightened with pre-defined color although it should only high-lighten those cells that fulfil the condition.
Has someone encountered this issue before ? Thanks for any help.

    Hi ZZ02,
I have test the scenario in my testing environment, however, everything goes well when exporting to Excel format. The issue might be related to the expression for the conditional background color. To make further analysis, please post the expression as well
    as the report design structure.
Additionally, in SQL Server 2012 Reporting Services, the Excel rendering extension renders a report to the native format of Microsoft Excel 2007-2010, the format of which is ExcelOpenXML. By default, the previous version of the Excel rendering extension,
compatible with Microsoft Excel 2003, is disabled. At this time, I suggest that you enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension by modifying the RSReportServer.config file. After that, the Excel 2003 rendering format will be available on report manager (not
available in Report Designer). So, please export the report from report manager and check the result again.
For more information about enable the Excel 2003 rendering extension, please see:

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. Hope this helps. Good luck. Cheers.
