    I had the same problem with Java EE 5 (tm), Sun SDK, and other staff that just contains JDK inside it, but forgets to install it...
    The workaround I've found is quite suboptimal add requires editing registry of the Windows. It is described in http://forums.topcoder.com/?module=Thread&threadID=582009&start=0&mc=9

  • Safari always opens with "Welcome to Safari" screen. Home page not saved.

    After a clean reinstall of Yosemite on our mid-2010 iMac and an upgrade to Safari 8.0.2, my partner is greeted with the "Welcome To Safari" screen each time he launches Safari.
    In addition, his home page is not saved and the Favorites bar, which is set to be displayed by default, does not show.
    My own Safari experience is unaffected.
    Has anybody else experienced this and any suggestions on how to fix it?
    Thanks in advance.

    A problem regarding set up of Oracle Lite 3.6.0.2.0 on Win 95, with JDK 1.1.8 and Java 2 SDK ( Ver 1.3 Beta)

    ====================================
    My ORACLE_HOME is c:\program files\ora95_2 and Oracle Lite is installed under the ORACLE_HOME in LITE\DESIGNER directory.
    JDK version is 1.1.8 which is greater than 1.1.4 installed in c:\program files\jdk1.1.8, My PATH, and CLASSPATH are set in AUTOEXEC.BAT as follows:
    set CLASSPATH=c:\Progra~1\jdk1.1.8\lib\classes.zip;c:\progra~1\ora95_2\lite\classes\olite36.jar;c:\progra~1\ora95_2\lite\designer\oldes.jar;c:\progra~1\ora95_2\lite\designer\swingall.j ar

    And, I can run JAVA.EXE from any directory on command prompt.
    With JAVA 2 SDK (ver 1.3 Beta) instead of JDK 1.1.8 I'm getting a different Error message as follows:
    =============================
    java.lang.NoClassFoundError: 'FILES\ORA95_2\LITE\DESIGNER\oldes.jar;C:\PROGRAM'
    Please make sure that JDK 1.1.4 (or greater) is installed in your machine and CLASSPATH is set properly. JAVA.EXE must be in the PATH.
    ==============================
    the PATH and CLASSPATH were set accordingly, as with JDK1.1.8, and there was no classes.zip in classpath
    also the class file or the jar file looks weird or wrapped in the error message : 'FILES\ORA95_2\LITE\DESIGNER\oldes.jar;C:\PROGRAM'
    Another interesting thing I noticed is if I run oldes.exe from Installation CD, the Oracle Lite Designer runs fine, and without error, I'm able to modify tables in the database of my laptop also.
    Could someone shade some light on what am I doing wrong here ?
    Thanks for help in advance .

  • I want to install Logos on an NT4 workstation. When I click on the "Logos.msi" file the "Open with" popup box appear. NT4 does not recognise the "Logoshe Logos software on a .msi" file.

    I want to upgrade the Citadel database with the Logos software. I have download the Logos.zip file from NI, unzipped it and install it on a WIN2000 system with no problem. When I tried to install it on a NT4 workstation by clicking on the "Logos.msi" file the "Open with" popup box appear. Thus NT4 does not recognise the ".msi" file.

    Karolus,
    most likely you did not install any newer software packages on this Windows NT machine. NT does not have the MSI installer engine preinstalled thus the first MSI based software would install this engine. E.g. if you install Lookout 4.5.1 or 5.0 before you try to upgrade Logos this should not be a problem anymore. Or if you install DSC that means LabVIEW 6.1 before this shouldn't be a problem either.
    If you really want to install just Logos alone than you would need to install the MSI engine manually before by executing the InstMsiw.exe from your CD. You might get this MSI engine as well from Microsoft.
    Hope this helps

  • Performance problems with jdk 1.5 on Linux plattform

    Performance problems with jdk 1.5 on Linux plattform
    (not tested on Windows, might be the same)
    After refactoring using the new features from java 1.5 I lost
    performance significantly:
    public Vector<unit> units;
    The new code:
    for (unit u: units) u.accumulate();
    runs more than 30% slower than the old code:
    for (int i = 0; i < units.size(); i++) units.elementAt(i).accumulate();

  • Is it possible to run OAS 10.1.2  with JDK 1.6 ???

    Well on the one hand we have Oracle ADF BC application that was developed with JDeveloper 10.3.4 and runs fine on OAS 10.1.2 JDK 1.4 on the other hand we have a 3rd party Map Server (servlet + java code) that is black box and only runs on JDK 1.6 because it needs JDK 1.6 features.
    Currently the only available course of going forward is to introduce a new open source 1.6 compliant server to run the Map Server and use AJAX to cross domain communicate the two. Client would like to avoid this, would like one application on one server.
    Restrictions are
    1) To get the Map Server in JDK 1.4 format is not an option and
    2) Upgrading to a Oracle Server that is JDK 1.6 and supports the ADF BC application is not an option. And not sure if OAS 11 can run the ADF BC application since I did a quick test by trying to compile the ADF BC application JDeveloper 10.3.4 code in JDeveloper 11 with out any success.
    So to my question if I could run OAS 10.1.2 JDK 1.6 it might solve the problem before i attempt that I like to ask the ideas of others that might have faced such integration issues before.
    This is urgent any help is welcome by anyone and everyone and especially the Gurus.
    thanks in advanced health and happiness to every one

    AFAIK, Oracle AS 10.1.2 is not certified with JDK 1.5 or higher.
    Oracle AS 10.1.3 is certified with JDK 1.5 and 1.6 on some platforms. (Check metalink.oracle.com -> certify for details)
    Oracle FMW 11.1.1.0.1 (aka WebLogic 10.3 plus JDeveloper 11.1.1.0.1) is certified with JDK 1.6
    Not certified means use it on your own risk - no support.

  • Issue while installing ODI 11.1.1.6 with JDK 7u

    Hi All,
    I am working on installing ODI on windows 64 bit. I downloaded lastest web logic server files, ODI files and JDK files from oracle site..
    I installed Web Logice server with no errors but when I tried to install ODI by running the setup.exe it was giving me an error:
    "Error: Provide the JDK/JRE Location while launching the installer. Invoke the sertup.exe with -jreLoc <JDK/JRE Location absolute path>Parameter(s)".
    So, I looked in to JDK file and noticed that it is an old file and need to be updated so I installed "jdk-7uf-windows-i586.exe". After installing when I try to setup ODI, I am still getting the same error..
    It is asking me to provide the location but I am not srue where to provide the location.. I know the location for JDK i.e. C:\Program files\Java\jdk1.7.0_04 but I am not sure where to provide this location for ODI..
    Thanks a lot!

    2 things must be noticed:
    First: ODI 11g is not supported by JDK 7, I always use the JDK1.6.0_27 and works fine. When you try to open the ODI Studio, this message appears, telling that ODI is supported only with JDK 6 versions, so don't try to use JDK 7.
    Second: I always install the JDK in a path without spaces, like "C:\JDK1.6.0_27\" and the excatly same thing to odi install files. So I call via Command Prompt:
    C:\ODI_INSTALL\Disk1\setup.exe -jreLoc C:\JDK1.6.0_27\
    I did over 20 windows installations using these settings, it'll work perfectly.
    Regards.

  • 9.0.4 compatibility with jdk 1.5

    Hi,
    Please do let me know if Oracle AS version 9.0.4.1 is compatible with jdk 1.5.
    What is the jdk version compatible with 9.0.4.1?
    Found the following in the Metalink -> Certify
    In general, Oracle Application Server 10g (9.0.4, 10.1.2.x and 10.1.3.x) support using JDK
    extensions higher than one the product originally shipped with. On 9.0.4, it is possible to move from JDK 1.3.1_06 to extension JDK 1.3.1_07 or beyond.
    Does this imply that 9.0.4 is certified with JDK 1.5?????
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sindhiya V.

    desuported? Can you post a source for this?
    9.0.4 is not certified with JDK 1.5 and will not be. AS 10.1.3 is the first release that is (as far as I know).

  • OC4J 9.0.2 production with JDK 1.4.0: mostly broken

    I have tried OC4J 9.0.2 production with several combinations of JDK 1.3.1 and JDK 1.4.0 for building, deploying, and running a simple, home-grown EJB-based web service. If I build the EAR file using JDK 1.3.1, it will run fine on OC4J using JDK 1.3.1 or JDK 1.4.0.
    I have thus far found it to be impossible to build the EAR file using JDK 1.4.0 and have it run sucessfully on OC4J using either JDK 1.4.0 or JDK 1.3.1. I always get the following when attempting to invoke the web service via the generated Java proxy stubs:

    Notes:
    1) When attempting to deploy onto an OC4J instance running on JDK 1.4.0, I have replaced the tools.jar file and modified the global-web-application.xml as per: ORA-92102 Timeout on Web Forms
    2) I have verified that the EJB deploys correctly regardless of build and/or deployment environment.
    3) Let's pretend that I can configure each of these environments to run under JDK 1.4.0 or JDK 1.3.1: run OC4J (fresh install), build ear, deploy ear, invoke web service. Here are the combinations I have tried:
    BROKEN: run OC4J 1.4.0, build ear 1.4.0, deploy ear 1.4.0, invoke web service 1.4.0
    WORKS: run OC4J 1.4.0, build ear 1.3.1, deploy ear 1.4.0, invoke web service 1.4.0

    WORKS: run OC4J 1.4.0, build ear 1.3.1, deploy ear 1.3.1, invoke web service 1.4.0
    WORKS: run OC4J 1.3.1, build ear 1.3.1, deploy ear 1.3.1, invoke web service 1.3.1
    WORKS: run OC4J 1.3.1, build ear 1.3.1, deploy ear 1.3.1, invoke web service 1.4.0
    WORKS: run OC4J 1.3.1, build ear 1.3.1, deploy ear 1.4.0, invoke web service 1.4.0
    WORKS: run OC4J 1.3.1, build ear 1.3.1, deploy ear 1.4.0, invoke web service 1.3.1
    BROKEN: run OC4J 1.3.1, build ear 1.4.0, deploy ear 1.3.1, invoke web service 1.3.1
    BROKEN: run OC4J 1.3.1, build ear 1.4.0, deploy ear 1.4.0, invoke web service 1.4.0
    Is Oracle aware of this problem? What is causing it (e.g. class format change in classes compiled in JDK 1.4.0)? Are you working to fix it in the next release (either preview or production)?

    I've also just downloaded JDK 1.4.0 and tried running the "Simple JSP Examples" that come with OC4J R2.
    Of course these simple examples didn't even compile:
    <blockquote>
    500 Internal Server Error
    OracleJSP: oracle.jsp.provider.JspCompileException:
    Errors compiling:/oracle/product/ias9i/j2ee/home/application-deployments/default/defaultWebApp/persistence/_pages/_examples/_jsp/_num/_numguess.java
    error: Invalid class file format in /oracle/product/j2sdk1.4.0/jre/lib/rt.jar(java/lang/Object.class). The major.minor version '48.0' is too recent for this tool to understand.
    /oracle/product/ias9i/j2ee/home/application-deployments/default/defaultWebApp/persistence/_pages/_examples/_jsp/_num/_numguess.java:0: Class java.lang.Object not found in class com.orionserver.http.OrionHttpJspPage.
    package examples.jsp._num;
    ^
    2 errors
    </blockquote>
    So whose fault is this?
    Is it my fault for not reading this forum before downloading the 40MB J2SE 1.4.0 install?
    Is it Oracle's fault for failing to point out that OC4J is compatible with ONLY 1.3.1 ?
    Is it Sun's fault for breaking compatibility with their own product? So much for write once run anywhere. This is not what Java was supposed to be about.

  • Problems in instalation/running with JDK 5.0

    I'm rellatively new to Java programming. I've had a few classes, know the basic concepts and have tried some tutorials. Recently I installed JDK 5.0 update 6 in my computer (first I tried the Netbeans bundle, but saw it was very complicated and unnecesary) then found the installation for only the JDK and JRE.
    The compilation goes without complication, but when I want to run the program come the obstacles
    I've tried to start with some simple programs but whatever I do, I get the Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError in every program that I've done. I even tried the simplest HelloWorld program (found in http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/getStarted/cupojava/win32.html ) and get the same error
    Now for the important part. I've already did my research, tried to debug everything. First off, added to my PATH env variable the path to the jdk5.0/bin dir to run javac and java in every directory. And also tried running "java HelloWorldApp classpath="dir to .class" and no success.
    I checked the env variable for CLASSPATH and only found a path to a Quicktime dir and nothing else (yes, I have Quicktime Pro installed). I've tried adding the dir of the .class file to it with no success
    I don't know what else to do. If someone has suggestions as to what else there is to do, please do not hessitate to even give the simplest and dumbest of advise

    I agree with the previous poster that it's better not to rely on the CLASSPATH environment variable.
    If you go to this link:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/index.html#basic
    you can find the documentation for javac and java, which may interest you in itself. The one for javac explains the essence of how classes are found.
    Now, assuming you are on Windows,
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/tooldocs/windows/java.html
    documents how to run java. You need to pass as -cp all relevant class paths.
    I know this is not helping you directly, but it's hard if not impossible to deduce the problem from what you wrote (at least to me). But if you try this and you still get the same error, please post the full and exact command line you tried.
