JS Console missing in Acrobat 9.3.3 from within browser[s]?

I'm using the latest firefox, 3.6.8.  I cannot bring up the JS console, even when "show on error/message" is checked when there's a "undefined" script error.  No amount of console.print* will force the console to display... yet my scripts are clearly running.   I've had to resort to app.alert.  Ugh.
Saving the file locally and opening it in Acrobat (or reader with  "show console" checked) works fine.

I wrote the plug-in.
However, Acrobat searches for the third-party DLL even before the first line of my PluginInit function is executed.
Therefore the DLL cannot be loaded explicitly. I tried experimenting with delay-loading the DLL and then the error comes up and only after confirming it my PluginInit starts. So it is not a good solution anyway.
Please see this thread:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/672182?tstart=0
I think we all are seeing the same problem.
Acrobat does not load the DLLs (the APIs are not the problem) from "plug_ins" subfolder. I would expect at least some warning before such a change is made.
to be more specific:
I have a folder created under the "plug_ins" folder, something like "MyFolder". In this folder there are two files:
MyPlug.api and FromOther.dll. Now the FromOther.dll is not loaded. Acrobat complains about missing even before MyPlug.api is initialized.
In every previous version everything was fine.

  • Place Image option is missing in Acrobat 9

I'm trying to add an image object (jpg image) into a document.  Following the instructions to use Advanced Editing>Touchup Object tool, the right clicking, there are no options displayed.  The option to "place image" is absent.
This previously functioned, but now it'g gone.  Any help??

Security Restrictions of the document are unknown.
    The problem was
resolved following an Adobe "repair" procedure, then I re-created the
pdf file by printing it to pdf (the document had a few "typewriter"
objects on it). Starting again from this point, the insert image options
    were present upon right click.
My guess is that if there are
typewriter objects on the document, this provides some conflict with the
advanced editing tools. IF this is the case, the "help" sections on
inserting images needs some more helpful info of this nature. Thanks for
    the response.

  • Combine supported files in acrobat missing in acrobat x pro when I right click drop down menu

combine supported files in acrobat missing in adobe x pro when I right click drop down menu also Convert to Adobe PDF is missing too.  The open with & share with options are gone too when I right click files.  My computer crashed & I had to have the motherboard replaced.  The tech store put some of my programs back on my compter but not sure how or if they did stuff correctly.  Need help fixing my problem becasue I use this all the time.  Thanks

I'm having the same issue. I got a new PC, insalled Acrobat X pro and when I right click on an Office file, I could not combine or convert Office files to PDF. I upgraded to Acrobat XI and still no fix. I triled to convert or combine office files to PDF from within Acrobat and I get an error message saying "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. Please remove these files or go to Settings and choose the PDF Portfolio option".
I've tried to convert or combine Office 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2013 files and none work. The weird thing is that the option shows up for Excel .csv files. Even more werid is that I have the PDF tabs showing in the Office applications.
I contacted Adobe support via chat and they were unable to help. I was directed here, so any help would be great.
    Thanks.

  • How do I get my missing Setupfiles\acrobat.ENV\data1.cab  for my acrobat 7.0 pro?

How do I get my missing Setupfiles\acrobat.ENV\data1.cab  for my acrobat 7.0 pro?

I am assuming you either lost your installation CD or did not backup your download of AA 7.  As long as you registered with Adobe, they may be able to help you, but I am guessing they will tell you to upgrade -- that the AA7 package is no longer available. Don't forget that is an old package at this point and is no longer supported by Adobe. If you know someone with the CD, you may be able to recover the file that way and then reinstall with your license key.

  • Why would my Acrobat tab keep disappearing from my Office programs?

Every so often, my Acrobat tab keeps disappearing from my Office programs.  It seems totally random, but happens when I am actually using the tool to convert a word doc or excel spreadsheet to PDF.  I am using Office 2007 Professional and Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.
I have no problems getting the Acrobat tab back by doing the following:
    1. Close the affected Office program (ie Word, Excel etc)
    2. Reopen the affected Office program as Administrator.
    3. Go into Options >Add-Ins> COM addins and delete the existing Acrobat PDFMaker COM Addin.
    4. Click OKs and close the program.
    5. Reopen as Administrator and go back to  Options >Add-Ins> COM addins and Add Acrobat PDFMaker COM Addin.
(The add in for me is stored at C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 11.0\PDFMaker\Office and select the PDFMOfficeAddin.dll file. )
Once I add it back this way, it stays for sometimes up to 2 months, but then disappears again.  I've had this happen in Word and Excel.
So getting it back is not an issue, but knowing what it happens in the first place and stopping that occurrence would be even better.
    Any help with be awesome.
    Thank you

Yeah.. I just noticed I was missing stuff last week, and then realized that my Apple TV was not showing up in my iTunes device list. I'm just hoping that the silence on this issue from Apple is a sign that they are getting ready to push out an update to correct either itunes or Apple TV. I've read lots of complaints, and just a few remedies. I've tried the remedies (including the one on the Apple TV support site) and none of them work for me. I have noticed one thing that that I wanted to try. In iTunes->Preferences->Apple TV I have an Apple TV in the "Apple TV's connected to iTunes" window, that shows a status of syncing. Since I don't have an Apple TV in the device list, and my Apple TV was reset days ago so it is giving me the code to enter into iTunes, can I assume that this item can and should be deleted. I don't think this is going to solve my problem, but it looks like a good next step. Any suggestions?

  • Acrobat not displaying PDFs properly in browser

this seems to only happen on chrome where if viewed in browser some graphics, especially text isnt displayed properly or in this case not at all. You can see the "Fi" in financial is missing. This is a major problem because most people who view the site are hitting download and the PDF is being opened automatically within browser. Is there a fix for this? Did I export wrong in Indesign? Do fonts have to be rendered into an object before exporting as PDF (thats a hassle)?
BUT a quick fix is to download the PDF, view in browswer then refresh the page and all fonts display. Weird. This is a step that many will miss.
This is what it looks like when downloaded and viewed within acrobat. note the thicker font

You are probably viewing the PDF file in the Google Chrome PDF viewer and NOT the Adobe PDF Viewer.
    1.  Check your plug-ins by going to:
    chrome://plugins
    2.  Go to the entry Chrome PDF Viewer.
    3.  If you see (enabled) then you are using Chrome's  PDF viewer.
It's lacking in a lot of ways for functionality.  Fonts is one of them.
    4.  You can disable it
    5.  Then go to the the listing for Adobe Reader
Adobe PDF Plug-in For Firefox and Netscape <versionNumber>
    6. Then enable it.
    7.  Done

  • Need manual updates for 9.2 and 9.55 to do clean reinstall of acrobat 9.0 pro from cd

I just did a new nstallation of acrobat V9.0 professional from CD:
I need a link to the master incremental update for 9.2 and the master 9.55 incremental update that goes from V9.2 to V9.55
I am looking for a master baseline release.
My reinstall is on an old XPSP3 machine. When acrobat professional 9.0 goes away I will still need the incremental update from V9.0 to V9.55
I do not need to put acrobat X or acrobat XI on this machine. A new acrobat X or acrobat XI license is for a new machine.
I keep all my master and incremental updates in archival. That way i can rebuild my machine.
This is the way it is normally done.
the autoinstaller jumped me from V9.0 on CD to V9.2 and from V9.2 to V9.55.
I dont' see master releases in the table that do the same thing.
    there were only 2 updates.
normally support would just send me a link out-of-band. i understand I need to send the request thru the forum
    many thanks!

Most of the manual updates are not cummulative. It sounds like you did the updates from the help menu (and many of those are cummulative -- don't know why they are not available). You may be able to find the updates you used on your harddrive -- I have seen them before, but don't remember where, probably the users folder or such.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 installed but cannot read any PDF file from a Browser window

I have a new(-ish) PC running Vista and had Adobe Acrobat v9 installed.  However I cannot open PDF files when trying to view from a Browser on a web site.  IE8, Firefox and Chrome all produce the same error that claims I need to install Adobe 8 or 9.  Have searched "Manage add-ons" and found Adobe enabled.  Have hunted around but cannot seem to find a way to fix this.  Any ideas?  This seems so fundamental that it is difficult to believe that (a) it happened in the first place and (b) that there is not an obvious way to fix it!

Are you on a PC with a profile setup?
    Assuming you are,
Rename your profile to something like PROFILE.OLD and then relog into the PC.  If the PDF's open without issue, you can remove the Abode folders in the old profile under Documents and Settings\%profile%\Application Data and Local Settings\Application Data.
Rename the new profile to yet something else like PROFILE.NEWOLD.   Then rename your PROFILE.OLD to its original name.  Confirm that you have removed the above folders from this existing profile.   Perform MIGWIZ I.E. Export files and settings to a folder. Now rename the profiles so that the .NEWOLD is the active profile and run migwiz there - bringing in your old settings.  These steps are only needed if you wish to preserve all the data and settings from your old profile.
    Hope this helps!

The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.
Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.

See if you can find a NPPDF32.DLL files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\)
You can see the installed plugins on the about:plugins page.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aplugins
You can set the pref plugin.expose_full_path to true on the about:config page to see the full path of plugins on the about:plugins page.
It is best not to leave that pref set to true as it exposes that full path to web servers, so reset that pref to false after you are done with the about:plugins page.
You can open about:plugins and about:config via the location bar, like you open a website (about: is a special protocol to access some build-in pages).
If you get a warning when opening the about:config page then you can confirm that you want to continue.

  • The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.OK. I followed the instruction and the problem still persists.

I got the following pop-up when I tried to open an online PDF file:
The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser.
Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your Web Browser and try again.
I tried many time, and it really doesn't work.
The plug-in I have is Adobe Acrobat 8.3.0.280

After I upgraded to Firefox 5, I had the same problem and I did a work around temporarily. I went the tools menu, then Add-ons, then clicked the "Plugins" on the left side (4th one down). I "disabled" both Adobe Acrobat 8.3.0.280 and Adobe Acrobat 10.1.0.536 using the disable buttons on the right side. PDF files now open again. However they are outside the actual browser.
My guess is that Adobe didn't catch up yet with a new update to work with Firefox or vice versa.
    Hope that helps!

  • I am trying to move my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended  from my older HP Win7 Pro notebook to my new HP Win 7

I am trying to move my Acrobat 9 Pro Extended from my older HP Win7 Pro notebook to my new HP Win 7 Pro notebook. This should be WAY easy, and it's not. Sofware downloaded from MS/HP after new noteboook was safely home. Used Microsoft transfersoftware to move all--but the Adobe Night watchman won't recognize my product code (it worked on the older notebook). I have now recopied the irginal download and everything seems fine but the IE plug-in to Adobe PDF printer does not function. Any suggestions?

You won't like this response, but there is no way to simply move any Adobe software installation from one system to another. In part, this has to do with the registration/activation infrastructure that Adobe uses. FWIW, Adobe isn't the only software vendor for which you can't simply move software from one system to another via various migration tools.
You must totally uninstall from the first system including product deactivation and then install on the new system and reactivate.
In terms of “fixing” your current system, I would recommend totally uninstalling the software (and deactivating in the process), reboot, and then reinstall from scratch.

  • Adobe Acrobat 9 supposedly allows you to convert selected areas of a web page to PDF from within Int

    Software: Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard
Issue: Using the ‘Adobe PDF toolbar’ from within Internet Explorer
    Problem #1:
Can’t convert selected areas of a web page to PDF
When you click ‘select’ on the adobe pdf toolbar, a red dotted line is supposed to appear around parts of the web page as you move the cursor
In my case, that’s not happening
Similarly, when you click on a part of the page, the part is supposed to be highlighted in blue
In my case, that’s not happening
    Problem #2:
Can’t convert part of a web page to PDF
You’re supposed to use the cursor to select text and images on a page, then right-click and convert them to a PDF
In my case, nothing happens when I right-click
    Any advice??

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.
