Jserv balancing across several machines and failure mechanism

Hi all,
I have a question regarding JSERV (ias 1.0.2.2) configured in load balancing (software) across
several machines (Application Servers). Customer has a 3-tier architecture, like this:
- a local director
- two web servers (HTTP Apache)
- three application servers (Jserv Servlet Engine)
- a db server (Oracle db)
I'm investigating on JSERV failure mechanism and I'd like to know if iAS supports a Jserv process failure
when an application server or jserv process goes down. I want that when a Jserv process or application server goes down, all the java request are managed by the other application server up and running. I tried to simulate a crashing of an application server, but when it goes down that specific request die. Is Jserv failure mechanism supported in iAS 1.0.2.2 ?
Thank you in advance,
Regards

zittergrotte,
Its sounds very similar to a persistent and annoying issue that affected all new C2D iMac owners after the 10.4.8 upgrade and I think I read that, re-installing the 10.4.9 combo update over the incremental software update has cured the problem for some users. Have you tried this as yet?
To all reading: has the wireless connectivity issues that affected so many C2D OSX users after the 10.4.8 update resurfaced in 10.4.9 or is this an isolated incident?
I hvaen't as yet updated to 10.4.9 cause I lost all faith after being stung on 10.4.8; but even after the apparent cure in the Airport Extreme 2007-002 update, I still get a consistently better connection, surfing time / speed on my works Dell Latitude D620 running WXP SP2. The iMac is generally sporadic and slow at best wirelessly whereas the Windows laptop zips along at quite a speed 95% of the time.
Quite disappointing to see a Windows machine so consistently outstrip a Mac so conclusively, but the Airport Extreme drivers just appear to be completely naff.

  • Load balancing across multiple machines

I am looking for assistance in configuring Tuxedo to perform load balancing across
multiple machines. I have successfully performed load balancing for a service
across different servers hosted on one machine but not to another server that's
    hosted on a different machine.
Any assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.

    Hello, Christina.
Load balancing with multiple machines is a little bit different than
in the same machine. One of the important resource in this kind
of application is network bandwidth, so tuxedo tries to keep the
traffic among the machines as low as possible. So, it only
balance the load (call services in other machine) in case all the
services are busy in the machine where they are call.
I mean, if you have workstation clients attached only to one
machine, then tuxedo will call services in this machine untill
    all servers are busy.
If you want load balancing, try to put one WSL in each machine,
and the corresponding configuration in your WSC ( with the | to
make tuxedo randomly choose one or the other) or spread your
native clients among all the machines.
And so, be carefull with the routing!

  • Has the deployment of a second CC for education package caused my Sign In Failure across all machines?

hi All, tried posting this in the live chat the past two days with support but cant seem to send response to their questions (tried two browsers, but send message button still grayed out). Just want to check on the community of anyone else had this sign in failure across machines after deploying a second package under the education device licensing? Even after uninstalling one package I still cannot sign into any adobe products, full or trial versions now. Its seems all shut down.
Advice would be greatly appreciated please, thanks.

    Hi Steven,
Adobe device license is tied to a deployment pool hence errors may occur during image installation. This could be due to Adobe application manager which is missing on user's machine  and Adobe creative cloud desktop wasn't included while creating a package through CCP. You may visit the link below to find the other distribution method.

    Hope this helps.

  • Can see and recognize my wireless network and Internet is working, but I can't connect with ANY computers/iPad/iPod/air TV, etc. I have reset the time machine several times, and can see the network, but cannot access it with any device. PLEASE HELP!

I have Comcast Internet and have it connected to a Motorla Surfboard modem and have that running directly to a 2TB Time Capsule. The TC is serving as our time machine as well as our wireless router. We lost power in a storm a week ago and can no longer connect to my wireless network I can see the network and sign into it via password, but cannot connect with any device(iMac, MacBook, iPhones, iPod touches, air tv, etc.). ALL of these devices worked gat before the power went out. I reset both modem and TC and still can't connect. I can connect to the Internet through Ethernet cord directly from the modems dn have confirmation(per Comcast service) that the Internet is working and we have a good connection.
The TC is less than six months old so I'm not sure what is wrong. I have reset settings with TC to no avail. I have reset the TC SEVERAL times and have no idea what could be wrong and what is prohibiting me from connecting. Anyone that has ANY suggestions or ideas as to how to fix this, PLEASE HELP!!!  I'm going crazy using iPad 3G and not being able to connect to our wifi. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GETTING BACK TO THE 21ST CENTURY!

Anyone have any ideas or information to help with this?  Any help and consideration is MUCH appreciated.

Sometimes the App Store version doesn't work correctly. In this case, install 10.8.4 with the Combo version > http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1659?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The Combo installer is the safest way to update OS X, and it allows you to update more than one computer with a single download

  • Need to collect the Windows logon and logoff events across the Domain in a DC eviornment, for different machines and user accounts.

    Hello All,
I am trying to build a Tool to collect the info about all the user's who login and logoff on daily basis in a domain network. I am using a windows 2008 server as a DC and have xp, win 7, win 8 , win 12 server as clients in the network.
There are few questions in my mind which I am not able to answer.
1> When a user tries to login to the DC network, he/ she gets authenticated using the kerberos protocol. does these authentication gets logged on the AD server by default? I have see a way to enable it from registry but even that's not giving me the expected
    output in the eventvwr.
2> Do I have to use Audit policies to monitor all the user's log off and log on activities?
3> Is there a way to collect these information from any place on the AD server other than the Eventvwr?
Please help me in finding the solutions to these query's  of mine.
    Thanks.

    1. Open the Group Policy Management console on any domain controller in the target domain: navigate to Start → Administrative Tools → Group Policy Management.
    2. In the left pane, navigate to Forest: <domain_name>→ Domains → <domain_name>→ Domain Controllers. Right-click the effective domain controllers policy (by default, it is the Default Domain Controllers Policy), and select Edit from the pop-up
    menu. </domain_name></domain_name>
<domain_name><domain_name>3. In the Group Policy Management Editor dialog, expand the Computer Configuration node on the left and navigate to Policies → Windows Settings → Security Settings → Local Policies → Audit Policy. </domain_name></domain_name>
<domain_name><domain_name>4. Set the Audit account management and the Audit directory service access policy to "Success". Set the Audit logon events policy to  "Success" and "Failure". </domain_name></domain_name>
    5. Navigate to Start → Run and type '"cmd". Input the gpupdate /force command and press Enter. The group policy will be updated.
Number of events could be excessive so you need to adjust size of Security log ( 1gb for example )
Usage of EventCombMT Tool (part of
    MS ALtools )
 This tool gathers specific events from several different servers to one central location.
 Run the EventCombMT.exe > Right Click on Select to search field > Choose Get DCs in Domain > Mark your Domain Controllers for search
 Click the Searches menu > replace Event ID field values with
    4624  LOGON / 4634  LOGOFF
 Click Search and wait for the process to complete the operation.
 After the search is done the output directory contains the log files for the domain controllers where events with the specified Event ID’s were found.
Alternatively you can try Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory solution with 20 days of free trial to generate such reports.

  • Ridiculous & grotesque HD crash and Time Machine restore failure!  Help?

Trying to make this short. iMac 24" 2009 2.66GHz, 640GB HD, NVIDIA 9400, 4GB ram.
Bought used, installed operating sys from disks, then upgraded to Snow Leopard. All was working fine. Set up Time Machine and it made several backups over two days.
Tonight, for reasons unknown, came into office and screen was on (instead of asleep or screen saver) and fan going 1000 MPH--LOUD!
Cut it off, rebooted, would not boot. Gave me "No bootable device" msg. Booted with OSX 10.5 disk, did UTILITIES/RESTORE FROM BACKUP, restored from Time Machine.
When it rebooted, the gray apple showed up and seconds late a gray shade descended and a black box in center of screen says "You need to restart your computer. Hold down power button until it's off, then press powerbutton again." Says this in 5 languages.
So I did, and the box keeps coming back. Repeatedly.
So then I reboot from OSX 10.5 disk again, go to UTILITIES/RESTORE FROM BACKUP, and restore from ANOTHER Time Machine backup from the iMac 24" I'm replacing, also Snow Leopard updated.
Same result. Black box, "You need to reboot," etc.
***? Am I missing a key step in the full restore? Please advise ASAP as this is driving me batty. not only do I not know what went wrong in the first place (somewhere early on I ran disk utility and did all 4 of the repair/verify options there; all said HD was fine), I have no clue why Time Machine won't restore like I assume it's supposed to!
Please help me before I kill again!

My Mac wouldn't boot. Since I had my trusty Time Machine Backup I formatted the drive and tried to use Migration Assistant to use Time Machine Backup to restore everything but when I tried the backup had an error. Is there anything I can do to restore my mac?
You do not use migration assistant to restore from a TM drive.
You boot into your Leopard DVD and use it to restore from TM drive.
You do not need to do anything with your internal drive. Just follow the instructions.

  • Can I record audio and spread it across several slides

I am having trouble recording audio at the same time I am
recording a software simulation. Must be like the chewing gum and
walking thing! I would like to record a few slides at a time and
then add the audio. I select Audio and record, but it only records
on the first slide...or whichever slide it happens to be on. I
thought I saw somewhere that I could choose to spread the audio
file across several slides if I choose. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible and how to do that?

    Hi deidrelynn
After you make that long voiceover, have you tried clicking
Audio > Edit Timing... and adjusting the split bars where you
want the audio to break? If not, perhaps that's worth a shot.
    Cheers... Rick

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
In Firefox 4 [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Safe mode] disables extensions and disables hardware acceleration.

You don't, take it to Apple for repair.

  • Time Machine and Time Capsule don't seem to work well together?

    Reposted.
I get the feeling there are some serious problems with the combination of Time Machine and Time Capsule.
This is extremely disappointing, as the idea of a centralized backup device on the network (instead of disks attached to each and every computer we have running Leopard) seemed like such a good idea and a good way to supplement our tape-based backup that takes place with Retrospect.
In reality, it's a disaster on both Intel and PowerPC systems. All systems and the Time Capsule are fully up to date with software updates from Apple. I have two 1TB Time Capsule units. It goes something like this:
    1. I have a few systems (mainly Intel) that work perfectly with the Time Capsule. There are no complaints and no issues at all. These systems just quietly run their backups as they should. They are the definite minority--maybe one or two have worked properly.
    2. I have some systems that complain from time to time (mainly PowerPC) but will back up with a little encouragement. These too are the minority.
    3. And finally, I have systems that are nothing but pain. These are both Intel and PowerPC systems. They are also the majority of the systems I have. The most common problem is sudden loss of the credentials needed to access the Time Capsule hardware--a user will be going along about their business when the Mac OS asks for the Time Capsule user name and password--after it's already been supplied and backups have been running. This should simply never ever happen.
Another charming behavior I've seen is corruption of the sparse disk image file that each computer creates on the Time Capsule. Time Machine will complain that it can't perform the backup, and examining the disk image file with Disk Utility shows it to be severely damaged. Turning off Time Machine, deleting the corrupted sparse image file, and starting over fixes it. For a while.
Finally, there are the machines (again, both Intel and PowerPC) that just can't seem to actually get through the first backup run. They either go so far and can't continue, or never actually manage to get started. I've checked the disks in these computers and found no problem with the hardware or file system. The installations are fresh and fully up to date.
Meanwhile, I have computers running Leopard with directly attached disks configured for use with Time Machine. One is a QuickSilver that isn't even officially supported by Leopard, with a Firewire attached disk. It doesn't skip a beat. The other is an Intel Mac mini being used with Mac OS X Server 10.5.4 and a USB external hard drive. These machines just do their thing, and I never have to babysit them.
These problems with the Time Capsule have been so severe that I've just given up on most of the computers and shut off Time Machine entirely. We have tape backups that run over the week, so it's not a huge loss. But that's not what really made me throw up my hands and say "enough"...no, that was the speed. Even with just one computer backing up to it, the Time Capsule seemed terribly slow. Watching the progress indicator was just painful.
I put in a word about all of this to my independent Apple dealer, and they say I'm definitely not the first to complain about some or all of these problems. In fact, they told me they were going to set up a test lab in their shop to see if they could duplicate these findings. I have no doubt that they can.
There are a total of seven computers backing up to one Time Capsule. They all store maybe ~40GB worth of data including the OS. There are about six computers on the other. Because of the way the network is laid out, the Time Capsule is connected to a Gigabit switch (and that is the only thing it's connected to). It cannot be used as the router, although I know Apple suggests this. The Airport section is disabled--I have no need or desire to use it. Some computers link up at 100 megabits, others at 1 gigabit. There are no network problems--we have no problems moving large amounts of data across the same network to our tape backup machine.
Is anyone else seeing these kinds of problems? Am I doing something wrong or expecting too much from Time Capsule?

I may be on to something. The Time Capsules I have live in a telephone equipment room that is indoors but not directly air conditioned or heated. It doesn't ever get too hot to be comfortable in there--the highest I've ever seen the temperature was 80 degrees (F). Most of the time the temperature is between 60-78 degrees.
I happened to touch one of them the other day while it was in use, and I noticed that the casing was hot to the touch...not dangerously so I suppose, but much hotter than I would have expected.
So I turned a small fan on both Time Capsules and have left it running. And I've noticed that not only do backups seem to complete more quickly, the reliability is also better. I am going to try some of my most troublesome computers once again just to see what happens.
I know there is a fan pointed at the hard drive in the Time Capsule, but I can't see how it does much in the way of cooling things down. In my opinion, it's just surrounded by too many heat producing devices to do much good...after all, not only is there a 7200 RPM hard disk in there, but also a 500MHz Marvell processor and radio set.

Recently my MacBookPro locked up on startup. Could not get past a certain point of progress bar. I had upgraded to Yosemite few weeks back, with no issues. I ended up doing a Recovery with Time Machine and I got all my apps, photos, documents, etc. back okay --- except I got error messages that my "registration for Photoshop (I use CS4 Extended) and Photo Mechanic are no longer working".  I worked on Photoshop first, and tried (several times) to fix it with their online help suggestions.  Nothing worked.
Is there a simpler way to "get my licenses/registrations back"???  I am also going to contact Camera Bits about the Photo Mechanic issues.   Thanks

Same problem and for months now. I haven't been able to find a solution, but I suspect that's because I don't know exactly what's wrong.

  • SCH events - Severity 8 and 9

    Hi Guys
I am writing some process doco for our team on how to action SCH alerts.
Based on the cisco doco SCH can send alerts for severity 8 and 9 events.
    9
    Catastrophic
    N/A
    Network-wide catastrophic failure.
    8
    Disaster
    N/A
    Significant network impact.
But in doing some testing the highest alert that can be generated is a 7 (eg PSU failure). This seems to be common across IOS,NX and MDS devices.
Does anyone know what possible trigger there would be for a sev 8 or 9 event? None of the Cisco doco details this.
    thanks

Those are future Smart Call Home codes. Currently, the Call Home devices and the Smart Call Home back-end are only doing individual device codes (0-7). Eventually, in some unknown future release, the Cisco Smart Call Home back-end and devices will be able to see when multiple connected devices fail and alert the Cisco Smart Call Home back-end.
These codes were added to provide that functionality when it becomes available.
