JSF - Create a User Object on Login
I have a JSF Application, wherein the user is authenticated by the Container - Form Based Login. I have defined Security-Config in the web.xml and assigned roles. I am also able to mask certain URLs based on the Logged-In user's role. I have also defined role based Page Navigation in the faces-config.xml. So far so good.
I have tested the above by hardcoding.
My question - as soon as a user submits the Login form and the container authenticates the credentials - I want to create a UserDetails Object/Bean, containing his User Id and Role. I need this bean (property) to use in the EL to mask URL and also to define conditional page navigation in the faces-config.xml.
I tried PhaseListener approach, but this gets invoked while processing each and every request. I just need to create or update the UserDetails bean only when the user submits the Login Form - either first time or in between.
What is the best way to achieve this - Production Grade solution - please?
Best solution I can think of at the moment is to use a Filter or PhaseListener that monitors the value of HttpServletRequest.getUserPrincipal() and performs the desired actions when the value changes.

Login page keeps going to "Create new user account" on login
For about 3 weeks, whenever I log in, the next page I get is nearly always the "Create new user account" page. This happens regardless of whether I wait to let AutoFill enter my user name and password or whether I fill in the correct info myself.
When I click the back button on my browser and finally arrive at the page with the forums list, I'm always registered as logged in. But sometimes I just end up back on the login page with a blank entry box.
How do I get to the forums page without having to get out of the "new user account" page first? (While this isn't a huge problem, it's time-wasting and kind of annoying, and it didn't used to happen.)Hi Turtlewiz!

In r12.1.3 EBS users occasionally instead of getting the login screen will see the following message *"Unable to generate forwarding URL. Exception: oracle.apps.fnd.common.AppsException: oracle.apps.fnd.common.PoolException: Exception creating new Poolable object"* Restarting the applications usually resolves the issue but it happens so infrequently that we've been unable to diagnose the problem or recreate the problem at will.
Any assistance would be greatly be appreciated in diagnosing the problem.
We've logged an SR with Oracle Support and they recommended turning on OC4J Debugging which they advised would create large log files. Since we can replicate this issue at will we would like to avoid turning on debugging and creating the large log files.user6035136 wrote:

JSF + Hibernate - non- persistant objects in a dataTable
This is more of a conceptual question, concerning creating a dataTable from a list.
I have a User-with-Projects 1:M relationship. Projects are obligatory and not obligatory. I have a user with one compulsory project and a 5 not obligatory. The point is that the 6 projects should be visible in the UI under a h:dataTable component while each inputText from the dataTable should be mapped to beans. The obligatory project is always persisted in the DB, but the others are persisted only if data is inserted in the UI.
So my question is:
How could I form a dataTable, including the 6 project, and check if a data is inserted in the not-compulsory ones?
I tried to create a User object with 6 Project entities (pojo classes), the first one is persisted in the DB and the others are not. This way I had a problem with the lack of ProjectID in the 5 remaining projects (since they are not a part of the DB). The issue could be elsewhere, but that's a rock I hit.
I'll also try creating a ProjectBean with 6 project, on a form submit checking each of the rows for a new data. If user input is available, the project would be inserted in the table. I could also try using an actionListener to check for the input, but I'm not quite sure of getting the correct row I need when the listener is active.
Is there any elegant way of mapping the projects and insert the not- obligatory only if they contain data?

Straightforward enough: check if the values aren't null ;) You can also consider to add a valueChangeListener to one or more fields. It would only be fired if the field's value has been changed.
Thanks for the comment, It was just weird for me how to have a User with a List<Project> and not all of the projects are persisted :) It seems a little strange for me as a realization and I assume that Hibernate would also be confused after session saving. That's why I think that I'll need a list of backing beans which would lately be transfered to entities if data is persisted (just being curious if there is more easy and elegant way to do that).
The valueChangeListener would be called after any data is inserted in the row - it's possible that a user could go wrong and edit a field, then erase it again. So I have to insert in the DB only on a form submit (less DB activity).
I'll try this getRowData() method tomorrow, it seems like a reasonable solution if I could use it in my case (dataTable with list of projects and get each row as a particular project).

Create a user report showing feedback
Hi,
I want to be able to give end users some way of viewing feedback (to prevent duplication and check progress) raised against an application and was thinking of using a interactive report that queries the wwv_flow_feedback table. Is this a suitable method or is there another ( more convenient/declarative ) method I could/should use. Any feedback is gratefull received,

You can create end user that can login to application builder, but access only to team development.
Never tested what kind privileges user then have e.g. delete feedback.
But I do not think it is bad idea create app where is interactive report top of APEX_TEAM_FEEDBACK view

I've had a look at csf-unified.log myself and it looks like no matter what is in jabber-config.xml or in the CUCM Directory Service/Service Profile, the LDAP search is always of the form;

Active Directory User which can Create a User but not Allowed to Enable Disabled Users
Hi Guys, we have a requirement to create a User Group in Active Directory which will grant its members permission to 'Create Users' but not be allowed to 'Enable' 'Disabled Users'.
We have tried delegating control and assigning permissions by going to 'Security Tab>Advanced'.
It seems like when a group is granted permission to create users, it will also be allowed to enable, disabled users.

According to my experience, you can assign permission with create/delete user objects. If you want to disable/enbale
a user, you must be a member of the Account Operators group, Domain Admins group, or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory, or you must have been delegated the appropriate authority.
In general, if you just give a user group the permission to create user objects, it cannot disable or enable user accounts. Please make sure that the permission you assigned is correct and the
user group are not the member of Account Operators group, Domain Admins group, or the Enterprise Admins group in Active Directory.

Any clues on how to create a resource object to push a user object into res
I am working on a situation where I have to push a user object via a resource object and not having assigned to the user (in other words not linked to the user).
any ideas?
My approach is some thing like this
IN the "user" object I do set all the attributes required per the resource definition

You need to understand the basics of files, and networks. You can't check if a file exists on another machine if you don't have a network protocol to communicate with. The reason \\ works under windows is because you are using an invisible (to you) network protocol. You probably know it as windows sharing. If your file were not shared under it's own name, that method wouldn't work (I'm assuming your entire drive is shared without a password... a horrible security flaw...but one thing at a time)
You can use FTP protocol to check if a file exists. You can either send the raw text FTP commands through a socket connection in java, or you can use a freely available FTP java API to make it a bit more simple. You could also write a small java server on the other machine, and have it tell you what you need to know with a socket connection. In this way, you have created your very own network protocol. -
Create a user through the API and "Prompt user to change password after next login".
Using the Adobe Connect Interface, I can create a user and check the checkbox to "Prompt user to change password after next login".
Can I achieve the same result using the API? The principal-update action doesn't offer such an option and, as far as I can tell, there isn't another action to do so either.

I'm trying to create a user using XML and specifying some attributes that are objects and not sure how to do it. How would I set the DirectoryUserAcl to Public?

I have SQL login group as "SC_NT\group_name" in server. There are multiple users using this login group to access database objects. User "A" can able to access db object(stored_procedure_1) from .net application. But when user "B"
tried to access same db object(stored_procedure_1), its showing like
Error: The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'stored_procedure_1', database 'test',schema 'dbo'.
Both the users are using windows authentication for access the objects. Could you suggest me the way to resolve this?

does not has any granted permissions to execute. But still user A
able to execute the sp from UI, where user B not able to do it. If any permission provided for a particular object, then only it will display in the above query whatever u have given.

User object not getting created in IdM8.1.1(Oracle Waveset)

I am trying to create user object in IdM8.1.1 using com.waveset.provision.workflowServices
but giving the following error - java.lang.NullPointerException at com.waveset.provision.WorkflowServices.convertView.
Code Snippet causing the error:
