JSF on IAS 10.1.2

Hi,
I want to use jDeveloper 10.1.3 (for its JSF support) to build a JSF-compliant application, and run it on IAS 10.1.2, with the Bpel Process Manager Engine support.
Will this work? Alternatively, will the Bpel Process Manager 10.1.2 run on IAS 10.1.3?
Thanks
Andrew

Andrew,
My immediate, instinctive answer is, "try it and see". But I assume you've already tried something (otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question, right?)
Since you didn't say what you've already tried, I may not be telling you anything new here.
I managed to get a JSF compliant (sample) application working with OC4J stand-alone 10.1.2, JDK 1.4.2 and SUN's reference [JSF] implementation -- version 1.1 -- on a Windows XP machine. Then I tried to use MyFaces but could not get it working. So then I decided to try MyFaces with the latest OC4J stand-alone -- 10.1.3 -- and that's where my nightmare began (but that's another story, and not related to your question :-)
So I fear that something you develop with JDeveloper 10.1.3 may not be backward compatible with OC4J 10.1.2 -- but I could be mistaken.
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • Architecture for APEX using iAS 10.1.2 and 10g with Dataguard replication

    We are currently using APEX in a stand-alone architecture using iAS 10.1.2 on with 10g as the DB(all on the same server). Our APEX apps are fast becoming a significant part of our production environment and I would like to set up a redundant failover site using Dataguard replication. I am very familiar with the DB failover, but I am struggling with how I can set up iAS on the standby server.
    Oracle guidelines for iAS failover using Dataguard (this is not AS Dataguard) specify that the primary and standby server local hostname must be identical for the failover architecture to work unless you use a virtual host name. Due to restrictions in our environment I am not able to set the lcoal hostname the same on the primary and standby servers. As an alternative I installed iAS(10.1.4) using a virtual hostname on my primary server, but it appears that the servername that shows up in all the installation references after the installation is still the actual server name, not the virtual name.
    I am looking for guidance from someone that has successfully set up a iAS failover architecture using dataguard on servers that do not have the same local hostname.
    thanks

  • Ias 10.1.2 and DISPLAY variable

    Hi all.
    In production I have installed aix server (5.3) with ebs 11.5.10.2 and ias 10.1.2 (in new ORACLE_HOME). Everything works fine, but to make it clear, i need help regarding DISPLAY variable.
    On ebs 11i, DISPLAY variable is set to non existing IP address for X server and everything works fine, only need Xvnc up.
    On IAS 10.1.2, Xvnc is up and i have to set DISPLAY variable to X-Win server on second win machine. In this case everything works.
    Can anyone explain why is it so , because i do not understand the concept of XWin.
    Thanks

  • JSF app as a remote portlet on OAS 10.1.3.1

    Hello,
    We have a requirement to expose our JSF app as a remote portlet via WSRP.
    Our production platform is OAS 10.1.3.1 SOA and we are using JDeveloper 10.1.3.1 for the development.
    We are new to the portal technologies, but what we understood reading the docs is that we must use WEB Center framework to expose the JSF app as a remote portlet. Is this correct?
    Also, how can we install the WEB Center to our OAS 10.1.3.1 SOA ?
    thank you

    Hi,
    In one of our current projects we're using SOA Suite and WebCenter. For example, we're exposing a JSF page containing a custom-built human workflow tasklist as remote portlet.
    We have installed a separate WebCenter AS 10.1.3.2.0 besides the AS SOA Suite. (See: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101320ws.html) and patched it to 10.1.3.3.0. For development we use JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and its pre-configured WebCenter OC4J.
    We had some issues with the JSF portlet-bridge and opened tar's, but these we're resolved by Oracle.

  • How to run order-jsf-jpa-example.zip in JDeveloper?

    What is the easiest way to make order-jsf-jpa-example.zip from the link http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/jpa/examples-index.html to run in JDeveloper?
    Step by Step please.
    Thanks
    Ming Man

    You can use the JDeveloper "project from existing source" to create a new project that is based on this code.
    You can then use the built in Ant support to run the build file.

  • Tutorial: Build a Web Application (JSF) Using JPA

    Hi,
    I am trying the subject tutorial at
    [http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/jpa/tutorials/jsf-jpa-tutorial.html#CHDIIEHA]
    and it seems I have to install OC4J and TopLink JPA.
    I will appreciate if anyone explain me if it is necesary, and in case of it
    witch is the reasson.
    I have some configured enviroments to develop JEE 5. I am talking about Eclipse Galileo against JBoss
    and NetBeans 6.7.1 aginst glassfish v2ur2
    Thanking in advance,
    Jose

    You might want to ask your question in a JDeveloper/ADF forum. With JSF/JPA, the only reason for XE is to provide a JDBC Data Source, so this product is hardly used.
    Once you move to JSF, you are switching to a 3-tier (or n-tier) software model, and the middle of the tiers is OC4J. So you need to get that. And TopLink provides the connection to the database.

  • EJB JSF

    hi,
    i want to create an application using only EJB 3.0 and JSF. i use JDeveloper 10, when i create empty project and create entities from tables in Model project i have TopLink Essentials JPA.
    i would like to deploy this application to GlassFish server.
    do i have to pay for the TopLink library that is included?

    You don't need to pay for TopLink Essentials - it's the free toplink version that Oracle donated to Glassfish as the RI for JPA.
    See:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/jpa/resources/faq.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/jpa/index.html
    https://glassfish.dev.java.net/javaee5/persistence/
    And I don't agree with the other post, using 10.1.3 for JSF/EJB 3.0 application is perfectly fine.

  • JHeadstart version 9.0.3.58 compatible with Oracle10g iAS version 10.1.2.0.

    Dear miss/sir,
    Currently we have various JHeadstart applications running in an Oracle Applicatio server software version 10g (9.0.4.2) environment.
    We plan to upgrade Oracle iAS to version 10.1.2.0.2 and have the following questions:
    - Do we need to upgrade our current JHeadstart version (9.0.3.58) also in case of an OracleiAS upgrade ?
    - Is our current JHeadstart version (9.0.3.58 compatible with Oracle10g iAS version 10.1.2.0.2
    - To which version of JHeadstart do we need to upgrade in case an upgrade is needed ?
    - Is a (substantial) rewrite of the JHeadstart applications ncessary in the last case ?
    Regards,
    Ger van de Goor
    Oracle DBA

    Ger,
    The JHeadstart version you are using is quite old and not officially certified against 10.1.2.0. However, that doesn't mean it shouldn't work. I suggest you perform a test and see whether you run into any problems.
    Of course, longer time it is advisable to upgrade to the latest jheadstart version. JHeadstart has evolved considerably since the version you are using, and is now fully based on ADF and JSF.
    Migrating your JHeadstart application to the latest version will certainly have some impact since the underlying technologies have changed. The effort required to do the migration is hard to predict without knowing your application. Compared to the 9.0.3.58 version, the current JHeadstart release is much more powerful and flexible in terms of what you can generate, so functionality that took a long time to built post-generation with 9.0.3 might now be generated in a few minutes.
    If you are interested in assessing the impact of a potential upgrade, I suggest you contact your local Oracle representative, or e-mail [email protected]
    Steven Davelaar,
    JHeadstart Team.

  • License for iAS

    Hello:
    I have a hp9000 server with hp-ux(Unix) with 4 processors and a iAS license for one processor.
    We want to run iAS over hp-ux server.
    Hewlett-Packard has a software call Workload Manager, this software can assign one processor to one application and other features.
    The question is that will we install iAS over hp-ux server and assign one processor to iAS with Workload Manager?
    Are there any legal problem if we do that?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi!!
    Im a new JDeveloper - ADF user!
    Im using JSF for a short time, but i tried many, many implementations, and i have to say that ADF is the best choice i found, if we mix it with Jdev it gets much more powerfull!
    About you question, i wonder if you can use it with tomcat. I know the power of OAS, but in your case, few number of clients, couldnt you use tomcat instead of OAS? JSF generates JSP in the background, doesnt it?
    Please forgive me if im saying something stupid!
    Best Regards!!!

  • How to get ALL values as default for  a drop down box in JSF

    Hi,
    I have a drop down box in JSF page which retrieves values from LOVCache.java. I have values like Company, Client, User, ALL in the drop down box.
    By default blank value is selected for the drop down box. I want to make ALL(which retrieves data for all the values) as default value for the drop down box.
    Could any body help me? Any help must be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Aseet

    Thanks Nikhil. But I am fetching the values from the LOVCache.java.
    I am using <af:selectManyChoice>. Is there any way I can use LOVCache.java value for selecting default values instead of hard coding?
    I mean to say can I write
    unselectedLabel="#{LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList.anyValue}"
    where LOVCache.entityTypeSelectionList is used to populate the drop down box.

  • How to get security roles in a JSF portlet

    I need to get the LDAP user-roles available in the Sun Portal Server 7 in my JSF-168 portlet.

  • JSF Pages are not rendering correctly when  loaded using Non JSF actions

    Hi All,
    This problem is irritating me and I am posting the same query for the third time here.
    When I come from non jsf actions such as page submitting using Javascript, clicking anchor link, clicking normal Html submit button and so on my page is not rendering correctlly .
    In other words, My first GET method/Post method works perfectly for the first time when the page is loaded.
    But when we try to access the page for the second time, although logical work is perfect in bean, I am getting same old page.
    How to resolve this issue?
    or
    Is this Bug of Sun's Implementation of JSF Framework.
    Thanks,
    Sudhakar

    Hi Sudhakar,
    There is a discussion about refreshing a page, Take a look at the below thread

  • Any way (event) to call Java method after view created in JSF 2.0

    Hi,
    I am using JSF 2.0 Mojarra's implementation.
    I am interested to know if there is a way to call Java methods before and/or after view has been restored.
    I wanted to initialize data for my page in this Java method.
    I could see there is an event class PostRestoreStateEvent added in JSF 2.0. How to use it?
    I tired to use f:event element as below, but it does not work. Can anyone share anyother idea to achieve this behaviour?
    <f:metadata>
    <f:event type="postRestoreState" listener="#{employeeLoadBean.loadAfterRestoreView}"/>
    </f:metadata>
    Regards,
    Kishore K S

    Hi,
    The problem is solved as below.
    <f:metadata>
    <f:event type="javax.faces.event.PostRestoreStateEvent" listener="#{employeeViewEventListener.postRestoreState}"/>
    </f:metadata>
    The above calls the Java method #{employeeViewEventListener.postRestoreState} whenever View has been restored.
    It was not working when shortName of the event (ie., postRestoreState) is given and throwing ClassNotFound exception.
    Regards,
    Kishore K S

  • Can't reference methods in a Bean from a Composite JSF Component.

    I have the following composite component TestCC.xhtml:
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:cc="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite" xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich">
    <cc:interface>
    <cc:attribute name="manager" method-signature="java.lang.String helloTest()" required="true"/>
    </cc:interface>
    <cc:implementation>
    Hello #{cc.attrs.manager} !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    </cc:implementation>
    </html>
    When I try to call it in a JSFF file:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>
    <ui:composition xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/rich"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:icc="http://java.sun.com/jsf/composite/IchipComponent">
    <icc:TestCC manager="#{viewScope.PatientClinicalBean.helloTest}"/>
    The page crashes at my composite tag with the following message in the console:
    javax.el.ELException: //C:/Documents and Settings/tlam/Application Data/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.3.39.62.76.1/o.j2ee/drs/iCHIP/ViewControllerWebApp.war/WEB-INF/classes/META-INF/resources/IchipComponent/TestCC.xhtml: javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: //C:/Documents and Settings/tlam/Application Data/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.3.39.62.76.1/o.j2ee/drs/iCHIP/ViewControllerWebApp.war/Patient/Profile/Clinical.jsff @13,86 manager="#{viewScope.PatientClinicalBean.helloTest}": The class 'patient.profile.PatientClinicalBean' does not have the property 'helloTest'.
    But my managed bean does have a public String helloTest() method, as well as other methods that work fine elsewhere in my JSFF page:
    public class PatientClinicalBean{
    String test = "TESTING";
    public String helloTest() {
    return test;
    I have tried this many times with different methods, all with the same result. Yet if my composite component outputs just a string and I enter the expression <icc:TestCC manager="#{viewScope.PatientClinicalBean.test}"/> to access the String test field directly it executes properly. I can't seem to reference any of the methods in PatientClinicalBean from only my composite component, when other method calls work fine in the same JSFF page. All other examples I've seen on the web have no problems doing this the same way I have, am I missing something?!

    What if you change the method in the class like this?
    public String getHelloTest() {
      return test;
    }If you attempt to read a property call abc from a bean, you need to have a method called getAbc(). If you attempt to set a property called abc, you need to have a method called setAbc(...). This is JavaBeans convention.
