JSF pages displaying very slowly?

As we are moving into production, I'm noticing the JSF-based web pages are displaying / painting on the screen very slow in some cases - especially the menus and graphical buttons. Has anyone else experienced this and are there any suggested performance improvements?
Once a page is accessed once, the next time it is accessed performance is much better due to caching. I would like to try to use afc:cache around the menu items and graphic buttons, but have a question about this - if for example a command button has setActionListeners with EL bindings, is it possible to use afc:cache (my concern is the same binding values will be cached or shared across different user sessions - see below for example).
<af:commandButton id="cmdSearch"
actionListener="#{bindings.FindMethod.execute}"
text="Search">
<af:setActionListener from="#{backing_bean1.keywordSearchCriteria}"
to="#{bindings.keywords.inputValue}"/>
</af:commandButton>

Hi,
don't think that this snippet gets cached because it dynamically references data that is not part of the page.

You are not speaking to Apple here. So none of us can "fix it."
TRy try quitting the Photos app followed by a reset of the ipad. To quit an app double click the Home button to reveal the row of recently used apps. Flick up on the page preview and it will fly away and disappear. That quits the app. Then Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/Wake button continuously until the Apple logo appears. Then release the button and let the device restart. You will not lose data doing this. It's like a computer reboot.

  • IBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly...

iBooks Author: in exported file, one page loads very slowly and drags when scrolling through pages, almost stopping the scroll.  I have never seen this problem before with photo pages.  Normally they scroll just as smoothly as text pages.
I have tried rebuilding the page with more compressed files to no avail.  The image files used on the page are not any bigger than others I have used previously without any problem.
I have tried restarting my iBook.
I am using a template that I have modified quite a bit.  The templates currently offered by Apple and third parties are not even close to what I am looking for in terms of layout, so I have to rip almost everything out of the page and start with a blank page, most of the time.  I tried modyfying the layouts to save time and then saved as a new template.  Apple really needs to add a module to create your own template at the beginning of a project.  Or they need to create one very open template, without much on the pages.

I finally solved the problem by using an unmodified template. I would still like to know how my modifications to the other template caused the problem, but for now it remains a mystery.  Thanks for your ideas.
Next I will try modifying the template without saving it as a template (merely saving it as a file) to see if I can get away with my modifications.  Also I will make fewer modifications.
Slowly but surely I am learning this program by trial and error.  Each time I try a few formatting variations, output an iBooks file, and open it on my iPad.  I have probably done 20 of these tests, so far.  Once I work out every detail of the design and structure, I will build the final book.  I am lucky to have a beautiful PDF of the hardcover version, generously provided by my publisher.  This not only sets a high bar for me, but also allows me to use some of their design elements via screen capture.
iBooks Author has great potential, but I along way to go to get there. One feature I would really like to see in the next update: the ability to add a hidden caption to a photo.  The reader would tap the image and the caption would appear. Tap again and it disappears.

  • Iweb 09 pages load very slowly - How can I fix this?

    Hi-
Just published my website to ipage.com and every page is loading very slowly despite the fact that the backgrounds and graphics are very simple (Many of the pages are text only). I'm using the "Modern theme" Blank with a gradient fill, which is what seems to be causing the slowdown. I've tried it on two computers (macbook and macbook pro), two browsers (safari and firefox) and my iphone 4 - performance is equally poor on all three. Spoke to my Web Hosting technical support (I'm using Ipage) and he says my site is only using 17 mb, which should not cause any issues. My download speeds are also very fast so it's not my computers that are causing the issue (Between 20.5 and 23.2 mbps, ping=18ms). The site address is www.jeffreyjanger.com.
    Thanks,
    jeff

    Bonjour
the slowness is explained by the big size of gradient fill image. Your background [image|http://www.jeffreyjanger.com/JeffreyJanger/Home_files/backgroundimage_11.png] is a PNG
You've changed color opacity, that forces iWeb to create a PNG file.
if you let opacity to 100%, iWeb will create a JPEG file
In an iWeb published site, JPEG file size can be 25% smaller than PNG (and sometimes more...)

  • Published Concept page displays very small = Zoom is 100%

I can't seem to make the concept page display in full size in my browser - the only tips I can see advice on adjusting the zoom, which has been tested and does not resolve.
It's only the concept page in my published player output is far too small - the menu structure displays fine. We can also open Try It mode (etc) and that works fine. It's just the concept displaying very small where it should take the whole screen.
    - Zoom is at 100% (and changing up or down does not help).
    - 96 DPI in screen settings.
    We are using IE 7.
Has anyone else had this issue and been able to resolve? Any help would be appreciated - thanks!

    Hello,
The only reasons I can think of would be the ones you've already checked: zoom percentage and DPI. I would suggest logging a support ticket in My Oracle Support if you have not already done so. Additional information can be found in the announcement at the top of this forum: https://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=1175

  • Forms page opens very slowly for single user

    Hi ,
We have a user in our EBS environment names OPERATIONS under which all scheduled custom concurrent programs run.
The problem is it takes a long time just to open the forms page when I login as operations user , but when i login via other users such as sysadmin, the forms page opens very quickly.
Any particular reason for it ?
    EBS 11.5.10.2
    DB 11.2.0.2
    Thanks
    Vicky

    Hi,
One reason which i can see is:
Since you said all the concurrent programs are running under this user name, I presume MOAC. is set for all the Org's for this user and as a result when the form is opened it has to fetch data for all the Org's for this users, whereas for other users it might be fetching data only few Org's.
    How to confirm this:
    1. Please enable the FND:Debug log for this users and check the data for MOAC assignment.
    2. Repeat the same steps for a different user and compare the Org's initialized.
    Hope it helps!!

  • Runs VERY slowly--pages change very slowly

    Chrome will run fast.

Oh, sorry! Here are the infos to my computer system:
I work with the latest version of Indesign 2014.0.
My document is about 107MB and it is full of PDFs/JPGs/PSDs and other
Links. But i don't think, that it's because of that. Because sometimes it works
fine. And then, all of a sudden, InDesign runs very slowly...

  • Album art displays very slowly!

I hope someone can help me. I called AppleCare and some guy didn't even know what I was talking about. I have a lot of music I bought at the iTunes Store which is saved in the ITunes folder via artist, then album, then tracks. I have checked the icon preview button so that my album art will display on every track. Before I updated to Leopard 10.5.3, the redrawing of the album art was very fast; now however it is slow as molasses. I would appreciate any input on this issue. Thank you.

This is an update to my original post. It appears my iTunes Library file is corrupted, because when I created a new iTunes library file, all my art work on my tracks displayed very fast, no slowdown at all. Also when I logged in as a different user, same thing. No problems with my album art being displayed. Is there a way of fixing a corrupted iTunes library file? I have a lot of music, videos and TV shows, all neatly arranged in various playlists I created. Just to do it over again would take me weeks. Also since I've been backing my internal drive using Time Machine, can I go back and retrieve my iTunes library file before it became corrupted? Thank you for any help you can give me.

  • Album art displays very slowly; iTunes library file is corrupted?

Since I have updated to the latest version of Leopard, my album art in the iTunes music folder displays at a snail's pace, where before it was fast as lightning. You should be able to retieve your pre-corrupted library file from TM, provided the corruption didn't happen to far back.

  • First Page Loads very slowly

    Hi
I've been using my MacBook on my wireless connection for a while with no problems.
Suddenly everything goes bad. My ISP ( ADSL+2 ) and Netgear ( WGT624 wireless router ) get me up and running again BUT when I load the first page of a web site it takes ages to load. From then on the pages linked to that home page load quickly.
If i connect directly to the modem all pages load quickly.
Netgear seem to have exhausted their options eg reducing MTU, changing channel, resetting the router etc but the first page still takes an age to load.
    Any advice gratefully received..
    thanks Colin

    Hi,
Your question is very vague. There could be many reasons why the app would be slow in performance (your queries might be slow / memory would be less etc.).
Check out this guide and tune your application accordingly.

  • Typed text displays very slowly.

With no programs running, I generally open several web sites with latest FF (salesforce, meebo, google voice, google apps email, contacts, calendar, wave and sometimes google docs). I have a FF addon to stop flash from running to try to reduce computer resources from being used that I don't need. Usually, everything works fine.
Sometimes, however, the following things go wrong:
    1) everything slows to a crawl and you have to reboot, which fixes it.
    2) More problematic, sometimes speed is not the issue except for typing text. For example, right now typing this post is so slow that I can easily type a full sentence before it slowly one character at a time displays it. Rebooting does fix this.
The activity monitor does show FF using 100% of CPU.
Any ideas? Can I increase the memory cache or something?
    thanks
    bob

Try starting Firefox in safe mode, to disable plugins. Badly behaved plugins are the usual cause for FF to go crappy.

  • Upgrade = Pages running very slowly

    Hello,
I upgraded to Lion on my iMac (2.66 Core 2Duo / 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM) and Pages '09 has become nearly completely unresponsive, especially when working with tables.
I've poked around and turned off thumbnails, set the table as floating, etc. but nothing has improved.
There seems to be a lot of folks having this issue.  We shouldn't have to deal with this.

Have you upgraded to the latest version of Pages '09?
I upgraded my wife's 6 year old Macbook with only 1 Gb to Lion and have not noticed any greater slow down.
Do you perhaps have something else that is eating up substantial RAM, such as large number of fonts, or your hard drive has become rather full.
Open Activity Monitor in your Utlities folder and look particularly if there is a large number of Page Outs (writing to hard drive).
