Jtable need help with column name

hi, i'm currently working on a project where my jtable grab data from the database.
as for the where clause i am thinking if i can get the column name as the field name in the table. However, I would like to hide the field name from the user.
So, I'm here to kindly ask if there is a way that i can display the column name that is hidden from the field name.

actually, I am thinking of a lazy way to add the 'where' clause for my sql statement.
so, instead of detecting which column that is related to the field i can just use the columns header name as my field. But on the other hand, I'd like to hide my field name from the user .
For say my field name is "emp_no" but it is displayed as "Employee No" to the user. and when i do my sql statement i can do something like this:
select * from emp_details where + jtable.getcolumnname(i).tostring() + = jtable.getvalueat(j,i)
is there a way i can do it so???

JTable - Help with column names and rowselection

Hi,
Is there anyone that can help me. I have successfully been able to load a JTable from an MS access database using vectors. I am now trying to find out how to hardcode the column names into the JTable as a string.
Can anyone please also show me some code on how to be able update a value in a cell (from ''N'' to ''Y'') by double clicking on that row.
How can I make all the other columns non-editable.

this method has a default behavior to supply exactly what you're seeing: column names consisting of the capitalized letters, "A", "B", "C".Thanks Pete, had seen that but never really thought about it... about 10 days ago somebody needed to obtain Excel column names, I'd offered a rigorous solution and now see it would have been shorter and simpler (if a little heavier) to extend DefaultTableModel and provide the two additional methods needed (getOffsetCol and getColIndex).
Not much of a difference in LOC but certainly more elegant ;-)

Need help with updating Name Server update for home webserver

I set up a webserver at home to run my own domain/website. I am able to type my IP address into Safari/IE and get to my website fine. I now need to update the NameServer with the previous domain hosting service, but I have no idea how to find out the NameServer (Compast is my ISP) to put into the UPDATE NAME SERVERS form for the previous hosting company. I need to obviosly do this before people who type in my web address can be directed to my home server instead of the old hsoting company. The previous hosting server is ns.teammediaonline and ns1.teammediaonline.com. Do I use something like ns.comcast.net or something? I already have the IP address and know it works fine. Comcast does notchange the IP's too often and I will not have much traffic to my site, so I should not have any issues with them. I am sure this is a very simple issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You definitely do not want to contact Comcast. Servers are forbidden to their residential customers. If you contacted them, not only would they refuse to help, that might put you on a list to watch in case you do set one up. Now, if you're careful, don't server out a lot of traffic, and aren't a general nuisance to the people on your node, they most likely won't notice if you don't contact them.
However, you'll need to look into a different DNS solution. Do a search for "Dynamic DNS" and you'll find a number of services that will be able to help you out. This one, DynDNS, has some reading material that might help to explain what you need to do...

Need help with column formatting (see image)

I am trying to make a spreadsheet that calculates proportional image sizes of a fixed original size. I have it set up so you enter an original size on the left (see image below) and the spreadsheet calculates the proportional sizes on the right (in the pink column). I would like to know how to get Appleworks to re-list the proportional sizes while omitting the size pairs that = 0. Basically i want to display the proportional sizes in a new column without the zeros. This way the proportional sizes list is much smaller and easier to read.

The method indicated in your original spreadsheet, and after the refinements suggested earlier, is essentially a sieve—calculate all the values, then strain out the chaff (ie. the results with non-integer values for one or both dimensions).
A more efficient approach is to calculate and display only the cases where both dimensions are integers.
Here's one way. You may want to move some of the calculations and revise the formulas accordingly.
Data Entry:
Cells B4 and C4 are used for data entry, as in the original.
Initial calculation: Find the LCF (largest common factor) Columns J, K, L and cell M1.
J1: =(B$4/ROW())=INT(B$4/ROW())
K1: =(C$4/ROW())=INT(C$4/ROW())
L1: =IF(J1+K1=2,ROW(),"")
Fill these three columns down to the largest short side dimension you expect to use (ie. if you'll use 39 x 78 inch original images, fill down to row 39).
What the formulas do:
J1: The ROW() function returns the number of the row in which the formula is located. B$4/ROW() divides the number in B4 by the number of the row. INT(B$4/ROW()) does the same division, then strips off any fractional part of the result. The second = sign is a comparison operator. The formula compares the results of the parts on each side of the sign and, if they are equal, returns TRUE (or 1), and if they are not equal, returns FALSE (or 0).
For the example (6), the formula would return TRUE in rows 1, 2, 3 and 6, marking the four factors of 6.
K1: Does the same, but for the number in C4.
For the example (8), the formula returns TRUE in rows 1, 2, 4 and 8, marking the four factors of 8.
L1: This IF() formula checks for common factors. If the cells in both columns (J and K) in a particular row contain TRUE (ie. the number of that row is a factor of both the number in B4 and the number in C4), then the sum of the two cells will be 2 (TRUE=1, FALSE=0, TRUE + TRUE = 2), and the formula will return the result of the ROW() function (ie. the number of the row). For any other result, the formula will return 'empty' (ie. what's between the two double quotes "" ).
For the example, cells L1 and L2 will contain 1 and 2 respectively; the rest of the cells in column L will be empty.
M1: =MAX(L1..L39)
M1: This formula completes the search by picking off and returning the greatest number in column L, or the Largest Common Factor for the two numbers. Adjust the second cell reference in the formula to reflect the largest original image size you'll use.
Final Calculations
D4: =B$4/$M$1*(ROW()-3)
E4: =C$4/$M$1*(ROW()-3)
D4: The formula divides the number in B4 by the LCF determined above to determine the size increment that will give integer results for both dimensions of the final image(s). It then multiplies that increment by 1 in row 4, by 2 in row 5, by 3 in row 6, and so on, for as many rows as you wish. The -3 in the second part of the formula is an offset to make the value of the multiplier three less than the row in which the formula is located.
E4: Same formula, but acting on the number in C4.
The first five results for the example ( 6 and 8) are:

Just Installed CS4; Need Help With Font Names/Colors/Sizes

In past versions of Dreamweaver, I think I clicked on "Use HTML instead of CSS" in the Preferences. I need to be able to select the font names, colors, and sizes from the Property Inspector.
How do I set it up the same way in CS4. I have clicked on the toggle button in the Property Inspector for HTML instead of CSS, but it doesn't give me the menus to select font names (Arial, Helvetica, etc.), font size (1, 2, 3, 4, etc.) and font color (imagine your own).

DW CS4 makes you use the CSS properties inspector because CSS is the defacto web standard now. HTML formatting is deprecated (obsolete) according to W3C web standards.
There are three ways to use CSS in your site pages.
Inline: A one-time style applied within the code as an attribute of a given element (or tag). This is similar to the old HTML formatting method but the code itself is a little different.
Embedded: A style sheet declaration in the head of the document that will only effect that single page on the site.
External: A physical CSS file containing rules (styles) that is linked to from multiple pages within the site.
It doesn't matter if you have dynamically generated or static web pages. CSS is still the most efficient way to style your content.

I need help with the name of something

You know when you go to a concert or live event and their are multi cameras which are being controlled by some system where like in FCP where they have the Multi Cam option where you just choose which camera you want to go live too? Anyway someone wanted me to record an event tonight where they said there are 8 plasma tvs and he wants me going around and getting footage that will display live on this TV! I kind of want to tell this guy that this is a very expensive thing to do I just dont know what the name of it is called when you have multiple cameras and you are controlling the cameras from a editing system..

Sounds like to me you're talking about a SWITCHER. Basically, all the video sources (cameras) would be fed into the switching device. Then you use the switcher's control surface to cut/dissolve/star wipe, etc. between the incoming sources. The final output is routed to some type of capture/recording device.
It's like editing, LIVE, with no "undo" buttons. However you switch things ends up on the "master".

Need help with Host Name

I have several Macs and PC connected through my wireless network. On My wireless router I am able to see all the computers connected. All the PC's show their Host Name. All of the Macs show their correct IP addresses but show a host name of unknown. I have gone to system preferences and from there gone to sharing and set the macs local hostname to xxx.local. I have not checked the 'Use dynamic global hostname' option. After doing this the host name still shows as unknown. Where do I go in a mac to properly set the host name so it will show up on the wireless networks as well as the ip address?

Setting the host name in sharing was the answer. A reboot was required.

Need Help with Column Masking

Hi All,
I am looking for Masking options/techniques to mask few columns.
I am aware of the option Oracle Data Masking Pack. But its costly. Can you please suggest some other way/technique using which I can achieve this?

You can always try manual masking using datapump and sql and pl/sql (export original data and then create function that will put some random/other data instead of real ones). I have seen some clients that have implemented this type of masking. However, be aware that this will not give the best results, and that it will not come anywhere near quality of Oracle Data Masking Pack's masked data.

Need help with administrator name and password

I was messing around on my macbook awhile ago and tried to change around my adminstrator name and now whenever I try to update I can't because the administrator name is wrong. I've tried setting it to different things but it never works. How do I re-set my administrator name and password so i can update?!

Follow the instructions in this FAQ to regain administrator access to the computer. If there is an Open Firmware password set on the machine, the method documented will not work and you won't be able to resolve this issue on your own; in this case, take it to a retail Apple Store or other AASP.

I need help with pivoting rows to columns. I know there are other posts regarding this, but my requirement is more complex and harder. So, please give me a solution for this.
There are two tables say Table 1 and Table 2.

So, can you please tell me what is should use to get the data in the required format? We are using Oracle 10g. Please let me know if u need any more information

I need to write a generic DDL "alter table" command, which can add/modify columns without knowing in advance if they already exist in the destination table.
Is there a command, which looks like:
alter table "table1" add (on existing modify) column1 <datatype> <default> ?

Hi.
I don't think this is supported in alter table command. But you can code that inside an if statement which queries systables & syscolumns. Your code should be something like that:

I have a "Contact" organization issue I need help with. I organize multiple customers under their account affiliation. I place the people with their contact info under each account name by their dept/role in the notes section of their account. I am looking to be able to directly dial / email from this info in yet notes section located within a contact. On Blackberry, the notes area entered in a contact can connect directly but on the iPhone those numbers/emails are inactive. I am trying to avoid having to create each of these individuals as a separate contact and keep them under their account affiliation. It is easier to find them. This does not seem like that complicated of a request and hoping someone can tell me how or share an app that will enable the "notes" within a contact be "active". Hope this makes sense.

I seem to recall that this question has been asked before and I'm pretty sure that the answer is that you can't do what you want to do with the native contact app. However, there are lots of contact apps out there that pull from the built app's data but have other features. Perhaps one of them would meet your needs.

Need Help with Address Display

I need help with APEX.
Here's my situation:
I have a report that displays brief employee information. Among the information displayed is the Address. Right now, it's display as:
Mr X
Employee Id
Accounting Department
Address 1
Mr X
Employee Id
Accounting Department
Address 2
I would like it to display
Mr X
Employee Id
Accounting Department
Address 1
Address 2
1) I have thought of using the Break functionality; however, the function only allows break at column 1, 2, 3. As you can see Address starts at column 4. Also, Address has a few columns; Address Line 1, Address Line 2, City, State, Zipcode.
2) Stragg functions - I'm not sure how to implement it since it has more than 1 columns.
Any ideas?

The example I gave you, using analytic functions is a simple one.
Now, you are saying:
1. some of the employees may have two adresses?
2. if this is the case, your employee appears in the report twice?
3. you don't want his name, employee id and accounting department to appear twice?
4. only his address has to be displayed?
If the answer to all the questions is yes, this kind of query will help you. I repeat:
SELECT CASE
          WHEN LAG (employee_id) OVER (ORDER BY employee_id) =
                                                    employee_id
             THEN NULL
          ELSE employee_name
       END employee_name,
       CASE
          WHEN LAG (employee_id) OVER (ORDER BY employee_id) =

Need help with writing a query with dynamic FROM clause

Hi Folks,
I need help with an query that should generate the "FROM" clause dynamically.
My main query is as follows
select DT_SKEY, count(*)
from *???*
where DT_SKEY between 20110601 and 20110719
group by DT_SKEY
having count(*) = 0
order by 1; The "from" clause of the above query should be generated as below
select 'Schema_Name'||'.'||TABLE_NAME
from dba_tables
where OWNER = 'Schema_Name'Simply sticking the later query in the first query does not work.
Any pointers will be appreciated.

Remember that anything inside quotes is case-sensitive. Is the owner really "Schema_Name" with a capital S and a capital N, and 8 lower-case letters?
Simply sticking the later query in the first query does not work.Right; the table name must be given when you compile the query. It's not an expression that you can generate in the query itself.
Any pointers will be appreciated.In SQL*Plus, you can do something like the query bleow.
Say you want to count the rows in scott.emp, but you're not certain that the name is emp; it could be emp_2011 or emp_august, or anything else that starts with e. (And the name could change every day, so you can't just look it up now and hard-code it in a query that you want to run in the future.)
Typically, how dynamic SQL works is that some code (such as a preliminary query) gets some of the information you need to write the query first, and you use that information in a SQL statement that is compiled and run after that. For example:
-- Preliminary Query:
COLUMN     my_table_name_col     NEW_VALUE my_table_name
SELECT     table_name     AS my_table_name_col
FROM     all_tables
WHERE     owner          = 'SCOTT'
AND     table_name     LIKE 'E%';
-- Main Query:
SELECT     COUNT (*)     AS cnt
FROM     scott.&my_table_name
;This assumes that the preliminary query will find exactly one row; that is, it assumes that SCOTT has exactly one table whose name starts with E. Could you have 0 tables in the schema, or more than 1? If so, what results would you want? Give a concrete example, preferably suing commonly available tables (like those in the SCOTT schema) so that the poepl who want to help you can re-create the problem and test their ideas.
