Why not? What happens when you try? Is your iPod not recognized by iTunes? If so, have you worked through each and every troubleshooting suggestion in this Apple support document?

as above really, I have had my ipod 20gb clickwheel nearly 4 years and no problems, all of a sudden itunes has come up with this error message. I cannot take off or put songs onto the ipod, or move them around in playlists etc, but when not connected to my pc the ipod itself works fine.
Please help, I have tried most things such as unistalling itunes, error-checking the disk in my computer etc.
Has anyone got any other suggestions? I don't really want to restore the ipod as some of my music is not backed up, I manage it manually it that helps??

HT4623 I have been using my Iphone and sync my music from my computer. However, right now, I can't. Tried everything. None of the new songs on my computer will go on my phone. It goes thru all the motions as it should but the songs are not there.

Gets error message "Attempting to copy to the disk "Ipod" failed. The disk could not be read from or written to". It will put on about 15-30 songs before displaying this message, and can fully sync but it takes forever because i have to press "ok" than "sync" every 15-30 songs. already tried to send it back for a warranty replacement but they said there is nothing wrong. i tried everything, restored, zeroed out ipod disk, reloaded itunes, and all over again about 10 times

Ran into the same error message while attempting to synch an iTunes purchased movie to my son's 5th Gen Video iPod from my G5 Tower (OSX 10.4.11). Here's what worked:
Restored his iPod to factory settings. Noticed that this included having the iPod enabled for disk use (this box was not checked previously -- when we were getting the error message). Reselected which playlists and videos to synch, applied the synch settings, then waited (with crossed fingers and a few prayers to boot!). It worked. No error messages.
Note: the iPod synch cable is plugged directly into one of the USB2 ports on the back of the G5 tower -- not into one on the 3rd party PCI expansion cards I installed to add more USB2 & Firewire ports (not sure if this is relevant, but it seems so based on your discussion thread here). Hope this helps.

It sounds like you have been on the right track in troubleshooting this issue. You may want to double-check that you are completely removing all the iTunes files when uninstalling/reinstalling, and make sure you test with only a limited amount of data initially (perhaps a single song). NANO WON'T SYNC - TRIED EVERYTHING!

Hi, all. I have a Nano that has many songs on it. My computer crashed, and I had to download the new iTunes, so I lost all my songs on my hard drive and have no backup. I know, I know - it was stupid. So now I have all the songs on the ipod and also have about 20 that I purchased that aren't on my ipod but are on the new itunes hard drive. I tried downloading the newest version of itunes and then performing the sync. I made sure my new version was authorized, which is how the purchased songs ended up on there. I tried going through all the steps on the article for the person that transferred their songs to a new computer. Nothing works. It'll sit for an hour saying it is going to sync but nothing swaps from ipod to itunes or vice versa. Any other suggestions? I've been trying for a week and am quite an experienced computer user and still can't figure it out!

There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod.

I have the same issues... iPhone and MBP have all the latest updates, etc. iCal synching used to work, but stopped at some point in January. I have tried all suggestions mentioned in these forums, including merging a new account...
I am stunned that Apple can't get this right.
The closest I've gotten to making this work is a dialog box popping up during synching warning of major changes to iCal; I say ok, but nothing is importing.

Tried resetting sync history, creating a new calendar etc, but nothing.
Even though I have 4 calendars in itunes it only says I have 1 in itunes. What is going on, everything else works great except for ical. Please someone help.

I had the same problem of my iphone calendar not synching with ical. The problem was one event that did not have a title. Evidently I added an event without knowing it. My solution was to put the calendar into 'list view' and looking at all the events on the calendar from the earliest to the last event. I found an old untitled event, deleted it, and I have had no problems synching my calendar since then. Hope this helps.

Hot sync-tried everything!!!!!!!

I have a Palm centro (sprint) I have done the hotsync before with my windows Xp many times but its been a month that I have not been able to connect.. the only message that I get is that the computer is not connecting with my phone. I already did soft-resets and hard resets, I installed the software again but I cant do anything because my computer is not connecting with my phone. I do not have outlook I have triied everything that I saw in the forums.. any ideas? thank you!!!!

What is the error message that you are getting? Can you paste the hot sync log here??
If you are getting a message that, "the connection between your device and the desktop cannot be established," you need to do the following:
Do you see the hot sync icon (circle with red and blue arrows) on the bottom right of your computer screen? Is there an arrow with the option to "show hidden icons"? If you do not see it there, hot sync will be disabled and you will keep getting that message (the connection between your device and the desktop could not be established...). To enable the hot sync program once again, click on Start > Programs/All Programs > Palm OS Desktop/Palm One > Hot Sync Manager. It will take about 5-10 seconds and the icon will be there once again. Now the sync should go through.

Ipad won't sync, tried everything

After installing IOS 7 AND the latest version of iTunes, my iPad stopped syncing with my computer. I get the "Your iPad did not sync because the sync session failed to start" message. I also get a "A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall iTunes. (142404)" message when initially starting iTunes. I have tried:
- resetting Ipad
- resetting Ipad to factory settings
- reinstalling Itunes
- installing an older version of iTunes
- Anti-virus/ anti-spyware scans using several programs
- Pulling out strands of my hair
Two more things of note: 1. I am able to sync my old 2nd generation iPod Nano with no issues. 2. Using a program called SyncIOS also will not sync with the iPad.
I am running Windows 7 Professional on my laptop with all updates installed.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

hi, my ipod classic isnt resyncing for some reason, any suggestions appreciated. my mac recognizes when my ipod is plugged in. itunes recognizes it. ipod charges fine when connected to ipod. when i click the sync ipod option, the bar says "syncing ipod" but nothing happens, it doesnt sync.
here is what i have done so far:
1. deleted songs, at first i thought i was at capacity, but im not
2. reset ipod using the hold/toggle steps on this forum
3. updated itunes software

It can either be a problem of the iTunes (corrupted music file(s) ) or a bad sector of the hard drive of your iPod.
For the latter you can try to do a format (not restore) for your iPod with your computer, make sure it is not a quick format.
In case it is the corrupted files causing the problem, you have to find a way to delete it

My iPhone 5c Won't Connect to itunes charges but wont sync tried everything

tried uninstalling it reinstalling also did usb thing also restarted PC and iphone oh uninstalled security software too nothing any ideas? what i should do i just want my ringtones i bought b4 got this new phone

If you're still having troubles, I had a very similar problem and this is what fixed it:
Start menu > Search "Device Manager" > Portable Devices > iPhone > Properties > Driver > Update Driver
Once the driver uploaded my phone worked perfectly. For some reason when I reinstalled iTunes the driver wasn't fixed but manually updating it this way did work. Make sure your iPhone is plugged into your computer when you're going through this or else you won't be able to open the iPhone properties.
This was on my HP and I assume most other PCs have a similar thing if not the exact same pathway.

Read everything, tried everything, Flash will not install.

Flash quit working for me a few days ago and since then I
have read about everything I can find and tried everything I read
to fix it but nothing has helped.
So far I've tried to uninstall, reboot, then reinstall, and
also tried using the reset_minimal.cmd fix. Both of these I've
tried in every combination imaginable, and have tried each at least
10 times...easily.
I have the problem in both Firefox and IE so it is not
browser specific.
Firefox CLAIMS it installs correctly, and using the manual
installer I can install it for IE (note the automatic installer on
the Adobe site NEVER works...I click to accept the agreement then
click to install and all it does is go back and uncheck the accept
agreement box).
Note that when I go to this site:

I see that Shockwave is installed and working just fine, but
for Flash it says:
1) In IE it tells me: "You need the latest Flash Player and
JavaScript enabled to view this content. Get the Flash Player now "
2) In Firefox it is completely blank in the Flash area
(Shockwave is fine).
Can someone, will someone, please help me out here?
Is there a better uninstaller I need to use maybe?
Any way to manually inspect each file to see what the problem
might be?
I'm willing to put in the time if someone can give me some

I uninstalled Quicktime, uninstalled Flash, then rebooted,
the reinstalled Flash. It seems to work on some pages like
Rivals.com, but I still can't get it to work on the Adobe test page
or on youtube.
For example, when I go here:

it will tell me "Movie not laoded" when I right click.
BUT, if I go here:
http://westvirginia.rivals.com/
and click on the video (Flash) it works just fine.
