Just Given an IPhone, Should I return It and Wait?

Hey All,
I just unexpectedly received the 16GB IPhone as a gift last night, and have not opened it yet. The reason why is I am tempted to wait until June when Apple may unveil the new version. Does anyone have any insight as to whether a new version will show up and if it will be worth the wait?
Considering I've waited this long, I'd hate to invest in the current model two months before something superior is released. On the other hand though, I find it hard to believe that Apple would leave the current generation of IPhone users in the dust.
Additionally, anyone have any leads on a price if a new model is released?
Just looking for some good advice for my current situation. I have 12 days to make a decision =)

We don't know if Apple will offer an upgrade path, but probably not. There's a lot less to 3G than meets the eye; see http://blackfriarsinc.com/blog/2007/10/why-edge-versus-3g-less-than-you-think. There have been some tests published comparing EDGE and 3G performance on smartphones, and they generally confirm the Blackfriar's blog. 3G is faster, but not by as much as the overall throughput difference imply. Depending on the site, the iPhone on EDGE was the same speed as 3G for some sites, slightly slower for some, and worst case took twice as long to display the site. This last case was 1 minute for 3G and 2 minutes for EDGE - which is much more a site problem than a phone problem. One minute is already unacceptable, and, to me at least, shows that the site isn't practical from a phone.
