Just one character problem.
Hi everybody,
I am using oracle database 10gR2 and I have approximately 2000 tables some field in English and the others in Arabic.
The character which I have problem with is called {لا}.
This character is appeared as question mark (?) instead.
I don't want to make an update statement because of there are thousands of Arabic fields contains this problem.
If I want to do an update statement to solve this problem, so I have to write thousands of update statements on each Arabic field has this problem , this is really exhausted.
Do anyone has an idea how to fix them all at once?

To Change the NLS Setting for Oracle Environment / Forms Environment
In (Win95/NT/2000 client ) by using the blow details .
Title : NLS Setting for Oracle Environment:
You can change database character set by doing the following steps.
Login to oracle Database server as sys privilege. If Sys Is Primary User otherwise Login to oracle Database server as system privilege.
Step1 : connect sys...Database_Name as sysdba;
Step2 : shutdown immediate;
Step3 : startup mount;
Step4 : alter system enable restricted session;
Step5 : alter system set job_queue_processes=0;
Step6 : alter system set aq_tm_processes=0;
Step7 : alter database open;
Step8 : alter database Database_Name character set AR8MSWIN1256;
Step9 : alter database Database_Name national character set AR8MSWIN1256;
Step10 : shutdown immediate;
Step11 : startup;

Got iChat to work, just one little problem...
After a long period of constantly getting the message: couldn't connect because 'user' didn't reply", I've managed to get iChat to work again - sort of. I set my outgoing port to 443 under Accounts, and in my router configurations. There is just a small problem, it seems I have to restart my router for it to work - every time.
If I restart my router, then iChat will gladly open a videochat afterwards, and it works every time I start a new chat, until I quit iChat. If I quit iChat and then start up iChat again, it won't work, and I'll get the same 'didn't reply' error message. If I restart the router again however, it will work again.
Just wondering if anyone knows why this is or what can be done about it.
iChat used to work a treat for me every time, until I installed a Tiger update, I believe it was 10.4.3 - then everything stopped working properly in iChat...
Would appreciate if there were any tech-savvy iChat users out there. I haven't been able to use iChat properly for months (without having to restart the router every tim- which I just figured out) Thanks!
20" iMac G5 Mac OS X (10.4.6)It sounds as if you router isn't responding to UPnP commands correctly. Some routers have UPnP but are not certified.
You may want to consider setting a static IP address on your MAC, then port forwarding the correct ports in your router to you mac.

Problem --serial port reading one character at a time
Hi Friend,
I reading the serial port one character at a time , i specified it in the "serial bytes to read" option in serial port read examples.
The problem is ----------i can able to read the data.
but only the first character is reading again and again...and "reading string indicator" in the serial port example shows only the first character sent ..only for a single time.since i am reading continously ----aleast the first character should display as many times i running the program
(i am running the vi by run continous option..........)..
please help me ....how to read the character one by one.....

I can able to read the serial port by 1 byte or 2 byte or 4 byte as i can specify it in the serial port read bytes option..(in visa serial read)..
I need to acquire 4 bytes of data and pass it to the Math-script node..and save these 4bytes of data in array (1 row and 4 column)..
And split this array(just like array-indexing.vi) and processing it each each column separately....
or suggest some method to achieve my task.....please.
one more thing the math-script node is placed in a while loop.....in order to read sequence of bytes continously.......

my iMac keeps typing a minus sign. I switched my wireless keyboard for a plug in Windows keyboard, and it keeps typing this one character. I took the batteries out of the Mac keyboard, so that is not the problem. I am running Mac OS X 10.6.8. In parallels, I don't have any problem, just on the Mac platform.

Upgrading OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) to 10.8.3 (Mountain Lion) is not an update. It is a paid upgrade. Just as with 10.7 (Lion) you must purchase it from the App Store with yor Apple ID and install it after backing up your current computer state for safety.

Youll get that message when you change the iTunes account you are logged into, you can't keep changing it. -
Just updated my iPhone 4 from IOS 6.1.3 to 7.1.2, I know I am behind the times, but I got there eventually! All seems well but I have one specific problem and hope someone can offer a helpful suggestion.
On opening the app "Find my iPhone" I add my password and sign in, to be greeted with a screen that says;
"Update Find My iPhone. A new version of Find My iPhone is available from the App. Store. You must install the update to continue using the app. Update now"
On hitting the "Update now" button I'm taken to the relevant page on the App Store, to be told that I cannot update as it needs IOS8 to be able to continue and as my iPhone is only a 4 cannot install IOS8.
I'm left going around in circles. The only thing would be to delete the app, but looks like I could not re-install the version I would need. Any body have any thoughts or suggestions? (Apart from updating my phone, I have a few months left on the contract!)

I have tried as you suggested, and when opening the "purchased" apps some have the icloud logo next to them, but I only have "OPEN" against "Find My iPhone". When opening it up, it goes through the same routine; needs to be updated before proceeding, and wouldn't update because I don't have IOS8.
Anything else I could try, or am I doomed!

Just one month before i bought iphone 5... but the iphone has the internet connectivity problem... while a iphone 4s is cathcing 3G tower, whereas iphone 5 is catching 2G network only.... I've tried so many things to get recovered, but alas, nothing is workable- such as- restaring the iphone, reseting the networks etc... Please help me out from this problem..
to be clear, my phone works fine when not in motion in a vehicle. If I pull over and come to a complete stop, remaining in the car, my phone works.
And while the phone is not working when I'm in motion, an internet search or a text message will go through, but I can not use Siri or any voice assistance when doing the text message or internet search. The microphone is greyed out.
So this is a unique issue, which appears to be the iPhone and not Verizon. -
Problem accessing just one web site. No other site...
I am having problems today connecting to just one website which I use daily.
I get the "internet explorer can not display the webpage" message and the dropdown gives the usual possibilities.
If I put the web address into "isitdownforeveryone or just me" then that reports the site up and running.
I cleared all temp files/cookies, ran a full disk clean and cleaned all in IE that was cleanable. I did the ipconfig /flush DNS command and netstop and net start DNS cache commands and still no joy.
While I kept trying I accidently clicked on the "diagnose problems" on IE failed to display page message and that said something like that "the host server at address 290.xxx.xxx etc had been found but fails to respond when pinged" and that resetting the network can fix problems. I then reset the BT Home Hub and low and behold I had instant access to the problem site. That was OK for the rest of the time the PC was on.
This evening it has done exactly the same (just this one particular site down) and yet resetting the router has again fixed the issue.
Why is this happening all of a sudden and why just seemingly one site affected ? Is it something I should contact BT over ?
I run Vista and IE9.

I haven't tried another browser (I like IE and didn't want to install something I don't really want) but I could do to aid trobleshooting if needed (I use Acronis so can roll back).
Anyhow after all the trouble yesterday I unplugged the HH rather than doing a "soft" reset via the button. The site that was problematic is at the moment OK.
If a site is unobtainable for whatever reason why does a reset of the HH "find" a path to the site only for it to fail again.
I see others have had similar issues although Bing.com is one I do use and that has been fine for me.
Whether this is related or not I have no idea but after all the resetting of the HH i thought I would just try Speedtest.net to make sure my line profile hadn't suffered. The "ping" value was a little higher than normal but what was was odd was that the server automatically chosen to run the test was at the other end of the country rather than more local ones. -
Just One Problem - The Application Can't Be Found
I've successfully moved from a Mac Pro (2,1) to a Mac Mini (6,2), running OS 10.9.5 and iTunes 12.0.1.26. There were several glitches during the move, but I finally associated my iTunes folder, now on an external HD, with the application using the option key during launch method. Everything works, iPhones, iPads, iPods all sync properly, all the playlists are there and play all songs, the App Store and iTunes Store function normally using my single Apple ID.
Just one problem.
When I try to play content from within the iTunes Music [Media] folder, either by double-clicking on a track or by control-click "Open With", I get an error message "The Application Can't be Found".
My iTunes Library goes back to iTunes 3 and contains over 350 GB media. This new behavior is worrying, because I don't understand why moving the iTunes Folder should have caused this. Any ideas will be appreciated.Thanks for replying.
Yes, from within the iTunes app all behaviors appear normal. I should test if tracks or other media that are not inside the iTunes Library respond the same way. -
ExtendScript Illustrator - Change color of text one character at a time.
I'm trying to write code for ExtendScript ToolKit to target Illustrator. I've been writing in JavaScript, but am open to switching to AppleScript if needed. The goal of the code is to change the characters in a text box one by one to the color of the image behind that letter. The end goal is to have the color of the text create the image.
Basically, I select a character. And lets say that character is at 720x648 (in pixels) in a 24x36 in image. Then I detect the color in the image layer at that location. Then turn the selected character to that color.
I have encountered two problems, finding a way to have the script detect the color of the picture at a given location (ideally in pixels) and then change that one character to that color.
So far my code is this, with a color hard coded in for testing purposes since I haven't figured out the detection part yet.

unless you get extremely lucky (working with matching Object names) photoshop code won't work in Illustrator.
a possible workaround, clip your text to your image, rasterize it, trace it, you might end up with a solid color per character, where you could read their color. -

I have a mac which my fiancee and I share. There are 2 separate accounts and 2 separate apple ids used to buy different music (i.e. we have 2 separate iphones and music collections).
I received the following error (see uploaded image) which states that, "you can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days".
Now, when I sync my iTunes and iPhone only some music that I have previously purchases is affected. For some reason they failed to sync with my iPhone and become unavailable in my iTunes ("file cannot be found"). When I deleted the record I saw that it became available for download in iTunes and then discovered this issue.
I have legally purchased the music and just want to be able to sync the files legitimately. It just seems very restrictive to say that you have to have 2 different machines for every account (i.e. you cannot have multiple users on a device with their own accounts which each have their own Apple IDs).

No - that is the issue - both my husband and I use the same computer and want to be able to use our individual Apple IDs so can access our download content e.g. I-books that we have purchased through our other MAC devices such as I-Pad. In the past, we had four people using one computer with no problem regarding Apple ID. In the newer operating system, we are now restricted to one at a time - it means one of us is blocked out from accessing our content for a period of 90 days. Have you any suggestions on how we can both use our individual Apple IDs with the same lap-top? We have set up discrete accounts so we log on to the computer individually. Many thanks for any help. -
Reading a string one character at a time

I'm hoping you use SmallBasic for year 10 exam students at my school. But, I have found a problem I cannot solve.
I need to be able to read one character at a time from a string (txt file) and convert each char to its ACSII code.
How do to I read one char at a time from a string to enable processing?

I was just having this problem until today. It is now all sorted and I can explain what to do very simply and easily.
I remembered the answers to my questions, I just forgot "EXACTLY" how I entered the text - so I had to have them reset. The easiest way is to sign in through www.appleid.com. Then on the right click the "Manage your Account" link and sign in. Easy so far right. Then, as others have said, look on the left of the screen you will see a link called "Password and Security" - click on this. Now this is where the confusion begins. Some people have a link located directly under the existing questions that looks like this "Forgot your answers? Send reset security info email to blah blah blah email . If you see this click it and it will send an email to the "Rescue Email" address that you entered when you originally entered your answers. Follow the instructions contained in this email and you are done. If you cannot remember this email address or you have since closed it, you will need to go to the Itunes Express lane and send an email to Apple requesting them to reset your answers.
HOWEVER IF YOU DO NOT SEE A THIS LINK UNDER THE QUESTIONS - this means that you DID NOT enter a Rescue email address when you originally set your questions. The only way you can now reset your Security Questions and Answers is to go to the Itunes Express lane and email Apple asking to have these reset. I have 2 apple accounts, one for myself and one for my daughter - as I did not include a rescue email I had to email apple. On both occasions, these questions were reset and an email sent to me exactly 24 hours after I sent them the request. I entered the new details, WROTE THEM DOWN EXACTLY AS I ENTERED THEM THIS TIME, entered a Rescue Email this time and I am good to go again. Simple. Now when I log in and click on "Password and Security" I do have the reset link visable. Apple support are good, they just take a bit of time to get things done, but they always seem to get there in the end. I just wish someone had taken the time to explain this somewhere else in the forum as it would have saved me much time and angst.
To get to the Itunes Express Lane go to this website www.appleid.com make sure the correct country is displayed top right, if not change it. Once this is saved go to the tabs at the top of the screen and click Support. Then halfway down the next page you will see a photo of two random people with a title of Contact Apple Support - Click this. Scroll down until you see the itunes logo, to the right of this you will see the link Express Lane for iTunes Player and iTunes Store - click on this. One the right hand side of the next page click on the link "itunes Store". On the next page click the link "Account Management" check the radio button beside "itunes store account security", select your country from the drop down box and click "Continue". Under the heading MORE OPTIONS, you will see a clickable link called email - click this. Fill in your name, Apple ID and country. Then in the text box, write "I have forgotten the answers to my Security questions, would you kindly please reset them. Thank-You". Then Click Continue, you will be given a reference number and an email is sent to your address advising that generally someone will attend to your request within 24 hours. Like I said previously, I had to do this twice and both times it was reset however it was done within about 5 minutes of the 24 hour cut off, so you will have to be patient. I know 100% that this works for Australia - I am guessing other countries should be similar. Hope this helps someone somewhere!Standard troubleshooting...
1. Try a Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the slider. Slide to power off. Restart by pressing the sleep/lock button until you see the Apple logo.
2. Try a Reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider if it comes up. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
3. Remove apps from Recently Used list...
- From any Home Screen, double tap the home button to bring up the Recents List
- Swipe up on the app preview card
- Press the home button when done.
4. If still a problem restore with your backup.
5. If still a problem restore as new, i.e. without your backup. See how it runs with nothing synced to it.
6. If still a problem, it's likely a hardware issue. -
I would like to have just one itunes account. Is there anyway to do that? Right now I have too many accounts and all on different computers. I would like to combine them and just have one place for all my music, books, movies and games. I would need a step by step easy to understand method. Help!!! One Library to rule them all. Lol
I see what your problem is. You are physically connected the devices. It would be better if the information was in iCloud. Then they all would sync instantly.
