I just booted up Photoshop CS5. The first thing I went to was the Lens Correction. I'm a Canon DSLR user. I see they have a lot of cameras (including several Canons) listed, and a lot of lenses. But very few of the lenses are matched up with a particular camera to make corrections. Example: I used my 70-200 F/2.8 IS Canon Lens with 3 different cameras: 5d Mark i, 5d mark ii, and 1d mark III. None of these 3 cameras are listed in combination with the 70-200 lens. The only camera matched to that lens it the 1Ds Mark III. I don't have that camera. So a person would have to make their own correction via the Lens Profile Creator program. Am I correct in what I'm saying? I'm hoping that someone will take the time to do this for us. Most of us don't have time to make our own lens correction profiles. Just wanted to be sure I'm understanding how all of this works.

Hi Dan,
The camera model specified in the lens profile shows the reference camera that was used to create the profile. Lens profiles created with a reference camera with bigger sensor (like the full frame Canon 1Ds Mark III) works well with other cameras that have a similar sized or smaller sensor, such as 5d Mark i, 5d mark ii, and 1d mark III, or 40D/50D etc. On the other hand, if a lens profile is created from images shot from 40D/50D, the profile might not work well on full frame cameras, because the chart images captured by 40D/50D does not offer any calibration samples beyond the 1.6 sensor crop factor. The resulting lens profiles beyond the 1.6 sensor crop factor is not well defined. PS CS5/ACR 6.1/LR3 have to rely on the extrapolation property of such lens profiles. It may or may not work well for any given lens profile.

If you're doing lens profiling, shoot the calibration chart images using your camera that has the largest sensor (full frame). This will make sure the resulting lens profile can be applied to a variety of cameras, shooting with the same lens.

You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices) -
Trying to understand Lenovo support - I just need a basic question answered
I have a few Thinkstation S20 desktops that are now out of warranty and I am trying to re-purpose them for lab machines. These desktops do not have any Windows 7 product key stickers on them and I would like to put Windows 7 Pro on them. I assume they probably were shipped with Windows 7, but these came from another office in our company and they might have been ordered as CAD workstations. However, if they are allowed legally to have Windows 7, I would like to install it. With our older Dell's systems, we can go into Dell's website, put in a service tag and see the original configuration. There doesn't appear to be this simple way of doing this on Lenovo's website...is there?
What is the deal with Lenovo support? I've had some awful experiences and this one is no exception. Read on if you are interested in the absurd support details...
So I call the main Lenovo 800 support number. After I give the lady all my information, she says "oh, this is a thinkstation, and you are in the wrong department...let me transfer you". So, after a long hold, I get another person on the phone...I go through all the information on the system in question, explain that I am trying to find out if this machine came with an OEM Windows 7 license. After a few more minutes, she now tells me "Oh, this is a Thinkstation...I cannot support those...you have to call a different phone number". She give me the phone number (which is the ORIGINAL phone number I called!!!) and tells me to push option 2, then option 1, and put in a machine type of 4155, even though the machine type is really 4157. I confirm with her that she is giving me the wrong machine type, but she insists I use that one. So, I call back the other 800 number, go through ALL the information a third time, and she tells me these machines are out of warranty. I know they are out of warranty, I just want find out if they came with Windows 7 Professional! She says she needs to transfer me to the software department. I get put on hold again, and then have to give ALL my information to the NEW person for the 4th time! After a long hold, she finally gets back to me and tells me this is a CTO model and customizable by the customer. She then says her records show it came with Vista. This machine was built well after the release of Windows 7...I have no idea how it came with Vista, and she says I need to call the vendor and find out why there is no sticker on it.Hi jbobst,
if you go to the support site, http://support.lenovo.com/us/en, or click on support at the top of the forum you will be able to search on the model type of your system after selecting Search by Machine Type Model.
If your system is a CTO, Configured To Order, this wont unfortunately tell you which OS was preinstalled in which case you can use Parts Lookup; this will usually state which OS was installed. For Parts Lookup only the first 4 characters of the MTM are required.

That looks like a JSON bookmarks backup file, from 11-01-2012. Did you try '''restoring''' that file?

Never messed with JSON files other than viewing them on a few occasions out of curiosity. There are no line breaks which make them very difficult to read.
As far as working with that file in {like} NotePad goes:
A. use Find / Search for each indecent of a '''"uri"''' string, then "copy and paste" the uri into another text file, and then move on to the next "uri" string.
B. use a text program where a filter can be set for the "uri" field in the JSON file for a line break or to "scrape out" the "uri"s only for display or export to a list of uri's.
Or try using an online JSON editor like this, to try to display only the "uri" field.

I am signed into the App Store on my iphone 4 and one of my apps need updating and my brother is signed into it because I didn't have any credit to make an ID so he signed in so I could download apps but its like its locked to his Apple ID I have tried signing out and turning my phone off its just not working please help.
Apps are locked to the Apple ID that was used to download them. You will have to sign in as your brother in order to update it.

I just tried to update my iPhone 4 and it said it was successful, but now I have a message (USB icon - arrow- iTunes icon) that is frozen? I have turned off the phone, unplugged USB and reconnected and closed out of iTunes and back in. Any suggestions?

Hi, I just tried to open Word and this message appeared - 'You can't open the application Microsoft Word because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.' I just recently loaded OS X Lion does this mean my software for MS Office is now out of date? Do I have to purchase a new package? Any help appreciated.

Office 2004 was written for the PowerPC chip only. There is no emulation in OS X 10.7.
I encountered the same issue sometime ago when I updated to OS X 10.7.
There is one option that I might mention (other than buy Office 2011). I switched to Apple's iWork. Pages (the word processing package) is completely compatible with Word. If you export Pages documents, you can export them in formats compatible with Microsoft programs. iWork also contains programs that are compatible with Office presentation and spreadsheet packages.
The reason I mention this is that the cost is about 1/2 of the cost of Office.

My time capsule was working and then I added another Macbook pro. TC stopped appearing in Airport Utilities. I have tried resetting TC, I have turned if off and held reset button with pen for >10 secs. I just cannot work out what else to do? I have turned router off and on. Amber light is flashing.
The ethernet says self assigned IP 169.254.67.6
Then the ethernet is not getting an IP from the TC.. there is no connection.
I am not sure where you mean when you say the green LED should be on. Do you mean the TC?

In order to help troubleshoot ethernet connections all routers use connectivity leds.. even APPLE.. it has one big LED on the front.. and 4 tiny leds beside each ethernet port. That light has to come on for ethernet to be active.. if you plug an ethernet cable into the port and the light doesn't come on.. then there is no connection.. either the other end isn't plugged in.. or the cable is bad.. or the ethernet port is bad.. something is wrong.
To get access to the TC you need this led to be green.. is it?
If it is green and the WAN is also green.. then I want you to unplug the WAN connection.. the blue wire in the picture.. the port slightly separated from the 3 LAN port.. computer plugged just into LAN port.. no airport turned on.. and press the reset again for 10sec until front led flashes rapidly.. then try and bring up the airport utility again.. assuming the ethernet led is green.
How old and what model is the TC?
The A number from the rubber mat will tell us the model. -

Just trying out my new mac but email won't load, error says "The mail server denied access to the account because an administrator or other mail client was using it when Mail tried to log in. Try again later." A little lock is beside the email inbox account, no password prompted and account is online and enabled... Thoughts?
Have you tried clicking on the lock to see it it will then ask for a passwored. Otherwise, try reblooting.

Hi, I've tried charging continuously for 72 hours. But to no avail. It just stopped working out of the blue. Actually I believe I let the battery die off completely. When I tried charging it again, it never worked.
I had only used it for about 1 month.

after 5 flahes, leave it plugged in for 90 minutes and it should boot up. if not hold power button down for 20 seconds and try again.

I need a MacBook experts, master to help me!!! I just tried the craziest series of moves on my mac.
Begun when the mac hung for nearly an hour. I held the power key to force a shut off.
This made me think of erasing some things on my hard drive. I used cmd r for disk utility and begun erasing volumes.
Then, I thought instead, why not just reinstall OSX since nothing I wanted was on it.
I tried to reinstall OSX but this time it loaded then suddenly said, an error occurred.
I Went back to disk utility and cleared stuff I can't even remember.
Another unbelievable thing happened. The disk utility actually hung for a good ten minutes! i went and forced a shut off again.
Now, whenever I turn the mac on, a flashing folder appears.
at this point, I usually turn to the net for answers.
Greatest thing is, every cmd something I try doesn't even trigger a reaction. Only cmd opt showed my mouse cursor.

Hey folks. I hate to come here and ask a gargantuan number of questions, but this has been driving me out of my mind. I've tried asking specific question in hopes of simply finding one little problem that will fix my woes, but now it has come to this:

How do I get my DVD going? I'll fill you in with all the knowlege I think you need.
I shot with Sony's HDR-FX1 and edited in Final Cut. That means I'm working with High defintion. The movie is set and solid, and runs One hour and twenty mintues. I'm trying to get it, the commentary track, the subtitle track, and a slew of video files (also shot in high def) onto one dvd. This goes beyond the 4.8 gig limit. Hence, i have a Dual layer burner, and have been burning onto DVD-R DL disks.
I've tried downgrading to SD format through steps from this website:

I do all the steps to all of my files, and then start putting them into my DVD STUDIO PRO project. I have a recorded commentary which I add in, and I have written all the subtitles. The disk is in SD mode, and everything fits onto the dual layer disk. I've tried literally a dozen different ways, and something keeps going wrong. Either the menus won't come up, and just the film will play upon inserting, or the subtitle stream doesn't pick up- problem after problem. So, now I ask: Can someone simply spell out to me what steps I need to take to get my HD film onto a Dual Layer SD disk?

I don't really know which ways you've taken to put
the video into dvd studio, but since you're asking
for a step by step process, then here's what i do:
- export the entire hour out of FCP to a qt file
- take that QT file to compressor. the only audio you
really need is dolby 2.0. this would also reduce the
file size of video to make things fit in a single
layer dvd
I have always found that the 'Dolby 2.0' and '5.1' AC3 settings in Compressor badly affect your audio mix...it collapses the soundstage, takes away a lot of depth and imaging, and smudges the frequency range, so I usually output a 16-bit 48kHz, which holds things together much more nicely when working with a stereo mix. Problem is, for a feature-length films, the resulting output from compressor makes it too big to fit on standard DVD-R's with the M2V picture file. My workaround was to actually take take the original exported FCP QT movie (which has a 48kHz aiff soundtrack to begin with), and only lay the audio part of it in the track timeline in DVD studio pro, then lay the compressed M2V video on top of it. They're both still in sync, unless you picked different in/out points in Compressor. When you 'build' your Video/Audio TS in 'advanced burn' it somehow makes it small enough to all fit onto a DVD, while still maintaining the audio quality of the AIFF, instead of the crappy-sounding 2.0 AC3. Then you just use Toast to burn your disc. The difference in sound quality is night and day. So basically I do the picture in Compressor, but let DVD Studio Pro prepare the audio in the Advanced Burn stage.
It will be very difficult to get a good-sounding AC3 (what they call 'dolby' 2.0 or the wierd 5.1 encoding they use) unless you mix/master/encode your soundtrack professionally like regular studio films do. Just encoding it in compressor straight out of FCP or ProTools isn't enough. You lose too much. -

I also have a question regarding the Knock out questionnaires in EHP4. I have set up a single selection questionnaire. I would like to see a green light for all but one of the answers and I can not make this happen. If I mark the 4 I want green as "Expected" they appear red as does the one that I don't want to be expected. If I gradually mark them 100, 90, 80, 60, they are all green, even the one I marked with zero points. If I gradually mark them and mark them expected they are ready. I have tried 9 different variations.

I want green as my result if the internal candidate picks any of the first 4 and red if they pick NP. I am just unsure of how to make this happen. Any advice you could provide would be most appreaciated!
