Just upgraded my macbook pro to Mavericks, and I can't open iTunes. I get a message to "uncheck the 'use 32bit' Option". But it is uncheckd anyway!

I have just "upgraded" to Mavericks and cannot open iTunes. I get a message to uncheck the "Open in 32-bit mode" in the iTunes info window. It it is unchecked anyway. I've tried checking it, then unchecking it - still no go.
iTunes was working fine until the upgrade.
Can anyone help?

Since you updated the operating system, it is probably Minecraft is missing certain files that ware remove or are not longer comparable with the new version of the OSX. what I recommend, is to check is there is an update for Minecraft and install that. If there is not update available, probably the best thing will be reinstalling Minecraft. Hope this will help you.

I just upgraded from vista to windows 7 and now when i try to type in a url address in the navigation bar nothing but gibberish appears

Even with QT 7 Pro activated you may need to modify your QT codec component configuration depending on the file type and compression formats used to encode your "old movies." There may be many different problems here with each having one or more "fixes." Please try to be more specific regarding your questions. Converting a muxed VOB MPEG2/AC3 file would be very different different from converting an AVI DivX5/MP3 file depending on which application you are attempting to use.

I have a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks and safari consistently freezes. It takes several 'return/enter' presses to get to the page I requested. I have seen other comments and replies on how to fix (clear cache, clear extensions/plug-ins), to no avail.

If it works in a new user account, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

What are you trying to do? If you have a brand new machine, you don't need to download and install Mavericks. You already have it.

When the update fails what if any error report do you get, specifically? Please do this before trying again:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
