JVM crashes on Windows 2003  server

HI
I am running my java application program on Windows 2003 server. with the jre 1.4.2_03. but some how my java.exe gettting closed coz JVM crashes.
is it b'coz of the jre version conflict with Windows 2003 server?
is it a bug of jre1.4.2_03?
Plese help me
with regrads
Jobin John

HI
im sure that JVM crashes, coz the next restart of mt
Windows Server i am getting as java.exe closed
problem with JVM.dll..If the VM crashes then there will be no VM.
If the VM exits due to an unhandled throwable there will be no VM.
If the VM exits due to a normal exit there will be no VM.
If the VM does not exit (none of the above) then there will still be a VM.
There is no case in which the last one would be referred to as a "crash".
If your VM isn't exiting and you want it to exit then you should write your code such that it does in fact exit.
Without more info than given no one can determine why your app isn't exiting but one usual reason is because you have a thread that hasn't terminated.

  • Oracle 10g crashes Windows 2003 server (bluescreen)

    Hello,
i have a problem that Oracle 10G crashes my Windows 2003 Server. All components are up-to-date and it is a certified system setup. The database worked well for months, but three days ago when our staff went to a workshop, I shut down the machine, and when we came back yesterday I just powered it up again (no changes have been done in the meantime).
The boot procedure ended up at a bluescreen, I tried two more times with the same result. I was able to deactivate many services to narrow down the error cause. It came out that the starting of the OracleDBConsoleorcl service causes the bluescreen :
BAD_POOL_CALLER 0x000000C2 (0x00000044,0x00000000,0x80000000,0x00000000) . This is re-producable, I just have to switch on that service and it will bluescreen the machine.
The strange thing is, that the OracleServiceORCL is working fine, I can even use SQL-Plus and RMAN to get to the data, but without the OracleDBConsoleorcl the Enterprise manager doesnt work anymore, and our applications also cannot connect to the database. I´ve looked up the error on google, it seems to be an error in addressing memory. Anyway, the database worked fine for weeks and I wonder why I cant get it back into business anymore. Right now, i´m lost. Anybody know what to do with this error ?

It turned out to be an error in the Windows 2003 OS-Kernel. Every install/uninstall of programs immediately leads to a bluescreen. Luckily, this can be solved with a hotfix from microsoft (you gotta email them to get it, it is not public yet). The corresponding article in the microsoft knowledge base is http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;888431
It will install a new ntoskrnl.exe and the problem is solved afterwards (oracle DB starts again, and also the other install/uninstall problems are solved). Hint : Boot to safe mode and then install the hotfix, if you just start the hotfix it will bluescreen right when you click onto the hotfix.

  • Can't install ITunes on Windows 2003 server (WHS box)

    Hi,
I can't install the latest ITunes because it incorrectly mistakes my Windows 2003 server as Windows XP. So after search I find that I can change the MSI files as according to this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2154140.
This seems to work for all MSI file sin the ITunes etup exe except for this: AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi. If I change the MSI LaunchConditions it gives my error 2229 no matter what.
So I'm stuck. Should I call Apple next?

I can't help you with the error you get, but just to clarify while iTunes isn't "officially" supported for use on Server 2003, it does work. Sort of. iTunes 8 could be installed by editing the MSI, iTunes 9 however while this method is still required you'll run into a problem with iPodService.exe crashing, and iTunes refuses to finish the install until that service is up and running.
There are a few topics on here that detail what you can do to get around this problem. I believe currently the only tried and tested method is to use the iPodService.exe from iTunes 8, doing a swap trick when the iTunes 9 service crash occurs so that you can at least get the application to install.
I can't be bothered to go to the trouble though. I'm interested in seeing if Apple will silently stop with the BS and just fix the installer's version mismatch errors (easily done), and fix iPodService.exe. The reason why the service crashes, according to what I've read, is because it seemingly misidentifies Server 2003 and similar OS's as Vista or Windows 7, and then begins calling functions for those OSs from ntdll.dll - which causes the crash.
As for your error, presumably that is with Orca. All I could find relating to the errors is something about transforming the MSI and language translations. It could also be because of an older version of Orca. Perhaps try and re-download iTunes, and extract the MSI packages again. But you should only need to edit the LaunchCondition for AppleMobileDevice.msi - and you don't need to delete the table either, you can simply change the number in NTVersion from 501 to 502, save the package and it'll all work. It did for me when I first tried it anyway.

  • Oracle 9i - Unable to set /PAE and /3GB Switch in Windows 2003 Server SP2

    Hi
I was wondering if anyone had any experience on Windows 2003 Server (SP2) with setting /PAE and /3GB switches.
I am unable to set both together, setting one or the other works fine in the boot.ini.
Oracle seem to think you can set both but it causes my OS to crash/become unstable.
Has anyone set both switches together on 32 bit Windows 2003 Server successfully?
I am using Oracle 9.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition.
    Thanks

The server is new. But we installed 10g before 11g was available. Then upgraded to 11g, so it is a little mess. What the oracle installer should have done in a fresh install, it is maybe not what the server has now.
I have checked for memory issues, processor issues, http errors, every EM setting and metric, and everything looks just right, but the applications are slow and the users are upset.
Anyway, thanks for the advice. Maybe we will need to re-install everything or go back to 10g on Windows 2003 Server x32. That configuration was working fine before rushing into 11g.

  • Problems with Tuxedo8.0 under Windows 2003 Server

    Hello All.
    Could you please help me?
When we were choosing which OS to install on our Tuxedo developers server we
    decided
to try Windows 2003 server. We did not suppose that we could have any
    problems
with this choise. But we have!
We use it with DB 7.2 workgroup edition and Tuxedo 8.0 (PatchLevel 172).
When one of server processes crashes (for example by exit(1) or by
    exception)
(it happend not so rarely, because this server is actively used in
    development
and testing processes) we cannot restart this server process!
When I write "restartsrv -i SrvId" in command line nothing happens.
When I write "tmboot -i SrvId" it says "Duplicate server".
When I write "tmshutdown -i SrvId" it just hangs and I have to wait for 10
    minutes
while it says "CMDTUX_CAT:949: WARN: Shutdown failed. 0 processes stopped."
Tuxedo WebAdministration conlsole says almost the same - "Failed to
    deactivate SRVGROUP/200
(still in state ACTIVE)-10:CMDTUX_CAT:1689: ERROR: Could not shutdown any
    servers".
As a result any server crash (including expected) leads to 15 minutes
    waiting!!!
As you understand it cound not be accepted!... and it is very annoying. :-)
This problem never happened under Windows 2000 server (a week before I
    returned from site
installation where this software works fine under Windows 2000 server).
How can we solve this problem?
Or should we downgrade our OS to Windows 2000?
    With regards,
    Dmitry.

    Dmitry,
Try a bbclean from the tmadmin command line to clean up the BBL so you will be
able to restart the server using the tmboot command.
In addition to this check the values for SCANUNIT and SANITYSCAN in the ubbconfig.
The observation that it takes 15 minutes for TUXEDO to discover that your server
has crashed suggests they have values that might be too high.

  • Procedure restore Differential backup and to restore windows 2003 server

    Hello All,
i am sticking at some of the points
    1. As per company policy they want to take full SAP offline + Redo log files backup once every two week and twice a week the differential backup. I suggested them the differential backup twice a week but now i have a question in mind since i never done it practically Do i need to have anything else like Log file to restore the Differential backup apart from full SAP backup or i can restore data with only Full SAP backup and differential backup.
    2. I am not much familiar with Windows 2003 server backup, If i take full Widows 2003 server backup will i be able to restore windows server along with installed SAP and all other software in case something happen to my server.
if the answer is yes what are the pre-requisite if there be any to do the same. from the pre-requisite i mean do i need to be on same hardware as my previous server was or i can restore it on any other system too?
i will appreciate any reply on the same.
    Mani

    Hi Mandy,
I am not sure weather you are treating  Windows 2003 and SAP Backup i.e SQL Backup as two seperate things.
SQL Backup : If you take MS SQL Backup ( directly from MSSQL or Schdule it from SAP DB13) and take full backup once a week or twice a week eg: Sunday full backup followed by monday, tuesday differential(Midnight) backups and Wednesday full backup again followed by Thursday and Friday differential(midnight).
Should the database need to be restored to thursday @ 4:30 AM, you will restore Wednesday full backup + Thursday diffential + any log files backup taken there after.
    Windows 2003 Backup:
Regarding this, You do not have to take Full Windows backup every day. You may take backup of few files / network drives, which can be restored directly while you are logged in to Server. It is sright forward.
Sienario: When whole C drives of Windows crashed. To prepare for this sicenaro, you should take Windows system backup when ever you make chnages to kernal, SQL upgrade or before and after Windows patching.
If the server crashes due to hardware failure, you should restore the server from backup .. ( for this there are different methods, like boot from boot disk and attach tape drive and restore or boot from disk and attach to NAS device and restore, you have to refer Windows 2003 restoration methods or consult your Windows specilist) which will bring back OS, kernal and SQL to normal state. and followed by SQL restore.
           Hope this helps.

  • How to Install 64-bit "Generic / Text Only" print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server?

    Hi All,
In a nutshell, I need to Install the 64-bit Generic / Text Only print driver on a 32-bit Windows 2003 Server’s “Generic / Text Only 32-bit print queue.
The problem is that there is no Driver-Disk to get the drivers. I’ve been able to isolate 14 files related to the 64 bit drivers from a Windows 7 x64 computer and copy them to a temp folder on the Windows 2003 x32 server. When I try to add the 64 bit driver
to the Windows 2003 x32 server,  it wants a *.inf file, which I don’t have and can’t find.
Because Microsoft will no longer support Windows XP, my client is replacing all of their Point-of-Sale Windows XP x32 systems with Windows 7 x64. They use Terminal Services (Remote Desktop) to connect to a Windows 2003 x32 server to use the POS system. The
POS software redirects LPT1 back to the local Generic / Text Only printer. This works great for XP x32.
When we use the Terminal Services POS software on the new Windows 7 x64 system, none of the labels print out because it’s redirected in 32-bit back to the local Windows 7 x64 Generic / Text Only 64-bit printer.
This will be a huge issue for me if I can’t get this to work.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and help! -Rob

  • Space Problem in G: - after NW2004s SR1 installation on Windows 2003 server

    HI Friends,
I have installed NW2004s SR1 on Windows 2003 server with Oracle 10g database successfully. My server has sufficient harddisk space as follows.
    C: 9.6GB
    G: 24GB
    H:64GB & I: 73GB.
    RAM is 6GB
While installing NW2004s i have defined a paging size on C: 400MB-1600MB and
i have set the option as System Manageble on other drives G, H& I drives. I did not get any Swap space problem while installing.
During installation I have chosen G: drive to store MirrorlogA, MirrorlogB, Oraarch, OriglogA, OriglogB folders of Oracle for redolog archives,.Total size of all these folders is 17.4 GB
G: drive has one more folder Program files which is of 155KB  and no other files exist in it.
But My system says that I am running out of Space on G: drive and free space available now is only 44MB.
My question is where has the rest 5GB of space gone? Is it consumed as a part of Paging file which i have set on this drive as System manageble??
I have set the same option on other drives too i..e H & I. But i am not facing any space issues for these drives.
What could be going wrong?? Please suggest me how to correct this
    Thanks

  • Installing problem on Windows 2003 Server 64 bit

    Dear All,
I'am trying to install XE onto a Windows 2003 Server 64 bit.. The installation process ends without any errors but the database itself seems not to start.
I tried several hints that have been mentioned here within the forum. But none of them worked. While experimenting I saw that there is not a single registry entry of Oracle within HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\Software .
Is there a possiblity to set those needed registry entries manually? Is there a script for that purpose?
Thank you very much for your help!

    Hi,
thank you for your reply. As 32bit programs should run under Windows 64bit I thought the XE should run under 64bit, too.
The installation of XE itself seems to finish without any errors. But within the log files it can be read that the database has not started up due to a out of memory problem. This causes many log entries within all other logfiles as no database could be created.
The out of memory problem might be the same as within Advice on running XE on a small virtual Linux host ("Virtuozzo") because I am using a virtual windows 2003 server with "Virtuozzo", too.
At this time I am on discussing the issue with the provider. Maybe I will get a dedicated server with Windows Server 2003 64bit. Hopefully the XE could be installed on the 64bit Windows Server because 32bit dedicated servers are rare.
    Best regards
    Matthias
