K 430 and K450 Motherboard and RAID Support

Hello,
Before purchasing K450 and/or K430 desktops, I would like to determine the motherboard make and model and confrim that the MB supports a RAID 10 or RAID 1 configuration if I add an additional  hard drive.
Thanks much!

paule,
please read the moan guide for the posting guidelines.
1. it's ICH9. It doesn't support RAID, does it?
2. ICH9R.
3. MSI sells this board in different SKUs all over the world, your mobo is probably missing some optional parts. You got to find that with the reseller.

  • Macbook pro will not turn to almost have changed the motherboard and the power supply board

    Hello,
A customer brought me to repair his macbook pro A1151, the computer flashed, I had to change the power board and the motherboard and the computer still does not turn.
The customer used a power supply with wire was déterrioré there were overheating the power supply board has traces of burns and a component of the motherboard is broken.
What may be another problem that prevents your computer from turning on?
    Thank you.

    Run an Apple Hardware Test:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1509
It may pick up some information that might give you a clue as to the unusual behavior.
Note: An error free AHT is not always definitive.
I still would go to an Apple store genius bar and have the MBP examined.  It will be done for FREE regardless of warranty status.

  • RS482M4-ILD motherboard and VGA/DVI

    Hi,
    Here is my problem :
I've got a MSI RS482M4-ILD motherboard and plugged it to a Plasma TV (42" PDP) with VGA and then on-board DVI.
At first, DVI is only detected by the plasma once Windows XP running, which means that the motherboard doesn't support DVI by default. Is it normal ?
Then, there is a big difference between DVI resolution and VGA. The Plasma manufacturer argues that the native resolution of the plasma is 1280x768. So everything is normal when I use 1280x768 with the VGA output, but it is not possible by default when I use the DVI outpout (resolutions offered : 640x480, 800x600, 852 x 480 and 1024x768). Each of these resolutions works fine, but 1280x768 is not available. Then I used provided ATI utility to force all possible resolutions and I chose 1280x768. But the image was not fully displayed. I mean I had to scroll right and left with the mouse to see all the screen.
What can I do (update drivers, etc.) ?
    Configuration :
    Micro-ATX BOx 460W
    MSI RS482M4-ILD
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    1 Go DDR PC 3200
HD Maxtor 80 Go SATA x2 (RAID 1)
    DVD Burner x4 IDE
    FD 1.44 Mo
    Windows XP SP2
    Plasma TV 42 PDP

I managed to set the DPD display to 1280x720 using the 720p option in HDTV plasma display but now, the image is not correct. The output screen from the PC is a the center of the image and there is a black band around. How to make it fit all the screen ?

  • Is it possible to retrieve the broken motherboard and get a replacement.

Hello everyone, I'm desperate for help now. I just had a look with this forum today and realised many people have been suffering the same sudden death issue of Z3C.I know the original post was too long so I edited it
I experienced the same issue in last December, at first it was the motherboard issue so they got it replaced but when they tried to set it up the screen was broken, so I have no idea how long I have to wait. I just want to say It had been a joy and wonderful experience to use the phone so there were actually a lot of important information and memorable things kept in the phone which I would die for, I even tried to request that would it be possible to have the damaged motherboard back or could they at least try to restore the datas back to the phone. If anyone has done similar thing before and managed to complain through email please let me know the email I will be very appreciate!

    Spoiler (Highlight to read)
I bought this phone in the end of last September and this is speaking from a proud loyal user of Sony products and I have owned wide range of products like Bravia television, home theater system, and Playstations, they have been a great pleasure to me. Before the release of Z3 Compact, I was desperately looking for a small sized phone with capability of good performance until I saw the advertising of Z3 Compact, so I had finally found a phone that best suited my every needs. I'd been enjoying every single feature of the phone but it was only 2 months since I bought it then the phone died suddenly when I woke up the next morning and I had an important meeting that day. Due to the problem of course I could not make it in the end. I had done everything I could but the phone could not be turned on at all, so there was entirely no way for me to back up everything before I sent it to repair. I could say it was very unfortunate for me because I have many friends who are still using high-end Xperia phones like Z2 and they are still running fine even until this day.
Finally I got a call few weeks ago so I thought I could finally get it after such a long wait. Instead I was told that it was the mainboard issue so a new one got replaced, but when they tried to set up the phone they noticed the screen was broken, so they had to deliver it again to the headquarter of repair centre in Kuala Lumpur. I have been waiting for nearly two months. Most importantly is that I have to study overseas next month so what should I do if the same problem happens again? Therefore I asked for a replacement and they said they would try for it and wait for approval from their manager but chances are very low.
For quite sometime I have been looking for the email of customer support but so far I could only manage to get the contact number, seriously Sony? Maybe it was my mistake but I just couldn't find the email contact except for regions like US and Europe since those regions are far more popular compared to where I am, a country that probably no one has ever heard of-Malaysia. I know it's no luck to seek for support from Sony Malaysia, so I was actually trying to look for international office for Asia region, but so far I could only find Australia and Hong Kong, therefore I gave it a try but it appeared to be an error link that led to nowhere.
Since I couldn't find the email at all I was given no choice but to call the customer support. I was really frustrated and unsatisfied with the solution they offered during the first call, saying that if the phone breaks again I can only bring it back from overseas to the repair centre in my home country just to get it fixed whenever I have the chance to go back.
I just want to say It had been a joy and wonderful experience to use the phone so there were actually a lot of important information and memorable things kept in the phone which I would die for, I even tried to request that would it be possible to have the damaged motherboard back or could they at least try to restore the datas back to the phone. Although I know I can't do anything with it but who knows maybe someday there is someone expert enough in IT can lend me a hand in such case. I know it's their policy to not return the damaged parts to customers but it's only my very little request even if they can't get me a replacement.
Since Sony is such a giant corporation, hasn't there been any solution they can offer since most users of Z3C are experiencing the same issue? Instead of raging my disappointments through internet which could spread false information and negatively affect the reputation, I hope this is the best way to solve my problems and let everyone knows.
I'm sorry if the post is too long but this is the best way to express my feeling. If anyone has similar experience or knows the email, please let me know and any help provided will be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is for us, users, and what you need is someone from Xperia Care to find your motherboard and send it back, I don't think it'll be possible to retrieve any data from a broken motherboard.

  • Mac Pro RAID and Boot Camp and eSATA controller Card

    Hello all,
I have carefully read the topics concerning the Apple RAID card and its inability to run Boot Camp. Of course, I read this after placing my order. I have been mulling over my alternatives based on everyone's input. Here is what I want to do and how I think I can get there:
My system, when it finally arrives and is assembled will be:
    Mac Pro 3.2GHz
    12MG RAM
    4 x 1TB hard drives
    Apple RAID Card
    ATI 2600
Except for the RAID card, the memory and drives are third party.
My plan was to create a RAID 5 with 3 of the internal drives, with the OS and apps on the non-RAIDed drive. I wanted to install Windows in a Boot Camp partition, but since learned this is not possible with the Apple card. I also planned on using the OWC Mercury Elite RAIDs I have (each enclosure house 2 x 500GB drives, and I have 4 enclosures for a possible max of 4TB of back up) to handle Time Machine (or other BU strategy) for the internals.
I have not received the Mac yet, so cannot look inside. From what I can gather, the Graphics card will occupy the Slot 1. The Raid Card will occupy Slot 4. This leaves me with only one 4x slot for a 4 port eSATA controller card (such as the RocketRAID 2314)
As I see it, I have a couple of obstacles to overcome, and I would appreciate advice/feedback on my possible solutions.
Problem 1: In order to use my existing OWC RAID enclosures, I need TWO controller cards, each with 4 eSATA connectors. Unless I scrap the 500GB drives for 1TB drives, I am stuck. Am I correct in assuming I cannot use Slot 2 for another controller card? Is there any work around?
Problem 2: Boot Camp. Can I purchase the Newer Technology extender cable to access the two eSATA ports on the Mac's motherboard to attach an external SATA drive for this purpose?
    Questions:
    1) I assume I can set up an external RAID (another RAID 5?) with my OWC drives and use Time Machine to back up to them?
    2) From the illustration in the Mac Pro manual I downloaded, there appear to be only 4 PCIe slots, but 5 openings (one seems to be aligned with the back-up battery). I assume this is the double-wide space for the graphics card. Can I use the extra opening for the Newer Tech ports since there is no card taking up space?
    3) Should I remove the Apple RAID card (resell on ebay) and buy the CalDigit RAID Card? It has the virture of allowing a Boot Camp install AND has ports that I can buy SAS to eSATA cables for, allowing me to use all of my OWC drives.
The CalDigit Card sounds good, but I would like to make the Apple card work if I can. Also, with the OPTIONAL battery back-up, the CalDigit card isn't that much less than the Apple card. Besides, I cannot find this card anywhere, everyone's at NAB, and it's Passover next week. AND I need to get this system up and running ASAP so I can begin making the money to pay for it.
Any input would be most welcome.

Problem 1: In order to use my existing OWC RAID enclosures, I need TWO controller cards, each with 4 eSATA connectors. Unless I scrap the 500GB drives for 1TB drives, I am stuck.
You could get new enclosures with SATA port multipliers for up to five drives per SATA port.
Am I correct in assuming I cannot use Slot 2 for another controller card? Is there any work around?
Apple says any PCI-e card should work in slot 2
    <http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Hardware/Conceptual/HWtechPCI/Articles/pciimplementation.html#>
"Mac Pro detects whether an inserted card is PCIe 2.0 (5.0 GHz) or PCIe (2.5 GHz) and selects the operation depending on the card's maximum capability."
but there have been reports of trouble (maybe caused by the recent firmware update). Check with the card maker to be sure.
Problem 2: Boot Camp. Can I purchase the Newer Technology extender cable to access the two eSATA ports on the Mac's motherboard to attach an external SATA drive for this purpose?
No. Those ports are only usable from OSX, but if you only have one optical drive, you can mount another drive in the lower optical drive bay with a Pro Caddy for use with Boot Camp.

This simplest connection is to use the optical ATA cable (with a SATA to ATA adapter for a SATA drive).
If you want to use a SATA connection, use a iPass to SATA cable from the iPass port on the Mac Pro logic board, which is normally used for the four SATA drives when there is no RAID card.

It looks like it should work if you route the cables just above the graphics card.

  • MSI 915GM4 Motherboard and a P4 s775 2.66/1M/533 Processor - Dont Work

    Hello Everyone,
    I bought an MSI 915GM4 Motherboard and a P4 s775 2.66/1M/533 Processor yesterday and
assembled it by myself. But when I power it on, it won't display anything nor you can any hear beeping sounds.
So I tried to pull it out from the case to test only the Processor, Motherboard, PowerSupply, Memory and Monitor, but still It won't display nor you can hear beeping sounds that would indicate the cause of the problem.
Later then, I contacted a friend of mine who has a Celeron D s775 Processor and tried it on my MSI Motherboard. Its only the processor that was swapped and nothing else. Guess what? It displays and even loads to windows. So I was started thinking that my own processor might be the problem. But I did not conclude right away that the
processor is the problem and so what I did is I borrowed an Asrock Motherboard (s775)
from the same friend. Now, if this will not work then its confirm that my processor
might be the problem. But I was surprised when it work and still boot up to windows.
Confusion wraps my mind, the next time I started thinking about compatibility issues
and so I visited MSI site looking for CPU Support of my Motherboard and found out that
it should support. Well, to try to resolve this issues I tried flashing the bios for
the motherboard of its latest version updates, but sitll no luck..
Hmmmm.... what could be it? Did I miss something?
Well guys if you could help me on this I really appreciate it.. I don't really know now what move to take.
If anyone has an idea please email me at [email protected]

  • P6N SLI Platinum - Installing Windows 7 and having troubles with RAID 0

I'm trying to format my hdd and install a fresh copy of Windows 7 Ultimate.  I have two 500g harddrives set up on Raid 0.  I keep getting the error "Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an exiting system partition.  See the Setup log files for more information."  I"ve download all of the Raid drivers for the motherboard and have tried loading all of them using the Windows Setup options to no avail.   When I load the XP 64-bit drivers it makes the partition disappear and I have to restart the Windows setup to see it again.  Does anyone know how I can get around this?

Go to the NVIDIA Driver Download Page and download the latest NFORCE Driver Package for your mainboard's chipset for Windows 7.  It should include the W7 NFORCE RAID Drivers.  Give those drivers a try.

  • Move Windows 8.1 Pro Hard Drive, Graphics Card and Programs to New Motherboard and CPU

Want to move everything, hard drive, installed programs, video card, network adapter, ram drive, DVD, from one computer to another, nothing will change except motherboard and CPU.  Old motherboard and CPU will be installed in a new computer case which
will revert back to a Windows 7 Pro computer with a fresh install and no programs to be used as a dedicated CAD work station. Motherboard and CPU swap will be the only change, even the RAM will be the same.  What activation problems will I encounter,
I do not want to re-install anything, if possible.

    Hi,
I would like to confirm what kind of licensing you used on Windows 8.1, the OEM or the retailed.
For the OEM one, the Windows 8.1 transferred to another new Motherboard will not be activated.
For the retailed one, you should find that the system will boot with the new motherboard, install some drivers then boot successfully.
You will need to use telephone activation for the updated system, but should not need to re-install. When warned that you need to activate, select the "Contact Microsoft Customer Support" option and follow the instructions. With a tone dial phone
you can do this without speaking to anyone. See http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/24636-activate-windows-8-phone.html

  • MSI 651M-V Motherboard and USB-FDD booting

    Hi All,
We recently bought about 25 computers for a school lab, running the motherboards mentioned in the topic.
The workstations are floppy-less and cdrom-less. When we purchased them, we specifically requested that the motherboards should be able to boot from usb floppy drives.
We have a Toshiba one that came with a notebook (Model PA3109U-1FDD), and it boots my computer.
The BIOS on the 651M-V does give a boot from: USB-FDD/USB-CDROM/USB-HDD and I think USB-ZIP. However, none of them seem to work. The computer doesn't seek the floppy disk during boot up like a normal floppy drive (I take this to be a symptom of not even recognising it).
I don't know if it's a wrong setting I've done, because you can imagine the administration headache I'd have to go through to open up each workstation and plug in a normal FDD or CDROM for setting them up for Ghost, etc. as opposed to simply plugging in a USB-FDD on the front-panel USB ports.
I tried disabling/enabling USB2.0 but to no avail.
I'd be happy to know if anyone has actually booted anything USB with this motherboard, and what kind of device and perhaps brand it was, so I can purchase the same thing.
Any help would be heapsly appreciated!!
PS: Would updating the BIOS work [I'd still need an FDD directly connected in this case!]?

    Hi Again,
    Thanks for the suggestions.
There is no "legacy support" option in the BIOS. The drive works fine under windows 2k/xp. I can't say the same for 9x/me as I haven't tried it. It'll probably ask for drivers or something...
There's doesnt seem to be a BIOS update for the motherboard in question either...
    *sigh*
Is this one of those brick walls?

Done with assembling, quiet nice color combination and clean cable arrangement.
An overview of the very gaming look system.
Some benchmark results before racing with The Crew.
CPU and GPU info on CPU-Z and GPU-Z applications:
    3DMark Fire Strike score: 6441
3DMark Fire Strike Extreme score: 3384
    3DMark Fire Strike Ultra score:1262
The excel performance proof the brand new 960 graphics card comes with good a high Cost/Performance Value.
Now, check out this test benchmark score of the renowned game “The Crew”.
The game presents an ultra-quality display, 60 Frames Per Second (FPS)
    FPS: Average frames is at:
    Frames: 3859 - Time: 76828ms - Avg: 50.229 - Min: 43 - Max: 56
The comments of the game for your reference:
There are many types of missions that can be chosen from the America’s map.
Street racing, high-speed collision, breakaway from police, sky jumps, zigzagging, etc… make the game quite dynamic.
Now, when it comes to multi-player matches, the performance has exceeded expectations. Perhaps, it is the killer Ethernet that’s working the magic. Thus, this game is highly recommended if you have the right rig.
The downside is that the display intricacy is not as refined as GTA V and in addition, the game FPS is limited at 60 FPS. However, the overall gaming flow and performance is better than good.
The user's comment for using MSI Gaming 5 motherboard and 960 graphics card:
(The following commends are translated from user’s article, does not represent the viewpoint of MSI) ^^
Recently, MSI GTX 960 just launched so the initial price tag is still adjustable.
According to the current product line, it seems like this GPU is going to replace 750Ti. So once all the stocks (750Ti) at the store empties, we are most likely to see a price drop on GTX960.
Once the price hits the sweet spot, it’s time to try out GTX960 SLI’s performance.
The CP value on MSI GTX960 and GAMING 5 MB is pretty high. But the XSplit software that comes with the product is a bit annoying since the authentication steps are divided into 2 parts to go through for using it.
    Enough said, anyways, GAME ON!

NVIDIA 960 card  + GAMING 5 motherboard = best bundle for budget gaming!
it would be nice to see more testing of hardware-demanding games!

  • Problem with SATA hard discs and MSI motherboards (could it be the SATA cable)

    I have two systems with a Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3250620AS 250GB Serial ATA (3.0Gb/s)
    hard disk.
One system has a P965 Neo and the other has a PN6 SLI motherboard.
I am having issues in that the OS seems to install properly but after a few days the users gets on hd type problems.
One users workstation the hard drive would not boot. Tried everything to get it to work from F8 but it would get stuck in the window flash screen with the bottom moving accross the screen.
The other just kept giving the user disk type errors with blue screens.
I since have replaced P965 mobos hd with a pata. Its only been running for a day not sure if that solved it.
The other machine I put the drive into another machine I was building and it found errors and fixed them and booted up. This same hd would not work at all in the prior system so I am RMAing that board. Even a PATA would not finish xp installation with that MOBO.
I am not sure but I have a feeling that the SATA cables may be the cause of this type of problem. These are SATA2 drives. I tend to think you have to use better quality drive cables when using these.
Those things are so flimsy as they are. I think some cables are better then others. Whos the idiot that designed those things?
MSI only gives you one sata cable. My dvd uses one as well.
Has anyone else had issues using the newer faster drives?
I build a lot of machines but have only been building SATA drives for the past 6 months. These are the first to use this seagate 16 mb drive. When SATA first came out I had these types of issues so avoided using them for over a year. Now I would like to continue using them. But these cables appear to have connection issues.

Its happening to two different computers with 2 alike drives. I have 2 other drives not even opened yet. It does appear to be a cable issue however, I don't think I will take the chance and keep the 2 unopened drives as that would be even more risky. I am already stuck with 2.
These drives seem to be very fast at least. But those cheap sata cables are not too comforting.
