  • MS-7135 - K8N Neo3 - XP64 SATA Driver?

Hi guys i wanna change to XP64 and i need the SATA driver for XP64, which file is needed and where to download it?
    TIA
    p.d
i got the XP driver disk only i need a XP64 one.

unpack the archive and make your driver disk .
    Creating RAID F6 install floppy
    ===============================
To install the Windows operating system when RAID is enabled in the BIOS you may
need to use an F6 installation disk if your board does not include a Windows CD that
has the drivers built-in. If you do not already have an F6 installation floppy with
RAID driver files, you can create one.
First extract the files from the installation package. This is done by using the
"-x" option to extract the package contents.
The storage tree in the extracted nForce installation package should look like this:
    ...\IDE\WinXP\sataraid
    ...\IDE\WinXP\legacy
    ...\IDE\WinXP\sata_ide
    NOTE1: substitute Win2K or Win64 for Windows 2000 and Windows XP64 respectively
Note2: some packages use 'pataraid' instead of 'legacy' for folder name
NOTE3: if package does not contain 'legacy' folder ignore legacy section
    sataraid
This folder contains the WHQL signed SATA RAID driver. If RAID is enabled in the
BIOS (even if installing to a non-RAID disk), you will generally use this. You can
determine if 'sataraid' is the correct folder to use for the F6 floppy by entering
the RAID setup screen in the BIOS. If you only see SATA devices listed, then this is
    the correct folder.
legacy (called 'pataraid' in some packages)
This folder contains a non-signed driver for use with legacy BIOS that include PATA
RAID support. You can easily determine if the BIOS is a legacy BIOS by entering BIOS
RAID setup screen and observing if PATA devices are listed. If not, then 'sataraid'
    folder should be used.
    sata_ide
This folder is NOT used for installation. This folder contains a non-RAID driver.
When installing with RAID disabled in the BIOS, the Windows storage driver is used.
Once OS install is complete then this driver can be installed using package setup.
    F6 floppy install
    * Create the F6 install disk by copying all the files from either 'sataraid' -or-
'legacy' folder onto a floppy diskette.
    * during installation you must hit F6 key when prompted by OS installer.
    * insert driver diskette into the floppy drive and follow the OS prompts
When OS reads the floppy it will show the following:
    NVIDIA RAID CLASS DRIVER (required)
    NVIDIA nForce Storage Controller (required)
Both of these MUST be installed if RAID is enabled on the installation port. After
hitting ENTER to select one fo these, you must then hit "S=Specify Additional
Device" and then install the other.
If RAID is not enabled on installation drive port, then only "NVIDIA nForce Storage
    Controller" is required.
(NOTE, most BIOS allow RAID to be globally enabled, but you can still enable/disable
individual ports as RAID. Even if RAID is disabled on a specific port, if RAID is
being used on other ports you must use 'sataraid' -or- 'legacy' to F6 install the OS
    onto the non-RAID HDD)

  • K8N Neo3 with a GeForce 7800 GTX?

    Hello, I got a AMD64 3200 (socket 754) processor with a K8N Neo Platinum motherboard.
I want to upgrade my videocard and I am thinking of a GeForce 7800 GTX. Because of the futurure I want a pci-e card, so I am thinking of changing my motherboard to a  K8N Neo3 motherboard. I searched everywhere online (including this forum and the msi site) but I can't find if this motherboard is compatible with a GeForce 7800 GTX. Can anyone provide me with the answer? Thanks.

neo 3?? thought there was only 2 and 4.  Im prob wrong but the nforce 4 chipset is the only one for pciE
I think you are right about the nforce 4, but the K8N Neo3 got the nforce 4. Here is the link:

  • Article says K8N Neo has SATA frequency locking problem

This article says that the K8N Neo has SATA frequency locking problems when overclocking:
    http://www.nforcershq.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1801
First of all, is this true?
And if it is true, do we have a BIOS that fixed this problem.
My drives are PATA right now so I currently don't have any problems but I plan to get SATA drives/adapters soon.
I'm running 240 HTT (1:1) so not having the SATA frequency locked could be an issue.

Well, I´m running HTT 230 now, and I´m always using my Raptor as OS disk. Haven´t had any problems yet (with my disk). It´s connected to s-ata_1. Haven´t tried the other ones.
But sometimes when I boot (200 or 230HTT, doesn´t matter) I get artifacts on the boot screen and in Windows, so I have to restart.
Could it be a partially working AGP-lock? It seems as at works most of the time, but sometimes not... Strange... AGP is set to 66-67MHz

  • K8N NEO3 sata question

    Hello.
I have the MSI K8N NEO3-F nForce4-4X Chipset mainboard and i want to know if i can connect a sata dvd drive or only a HDD drive.
    Thank U

Í'm not sure about what most opticals are, SATA-I or II (I think it's I), but you need one that is SATA-I compatible, since your board can only hadnle SATA-I devices.

  • K8N Neo3 not recognizing Advantek and CNET NIC

I just got my motherboard this week after an unfortunate incident with my previous PC (it involved burning). I had 2 NIC's in that PC, a CNET PRO200WL and an Advantek ALN-101C. This new motherboard, K8N Neo3, has Gigabit LAN but it is not recognizing either of my previous NIC's, even when I disable the onboard LAN. Just to check that the NIC's were not the problem, I bought another Advantek NIC (the same model) and tried it with the same problem. Some more details: the old Advantek NIC causes the PC to not boot. The new Advantek NIC does not prevent the PC from booting, but is not recognized by Windows XP (no add hardware, driver install). I tried a manual install but it is still not recognized. The CNET NIC, on the other hand, is recognized by Windows XP and the drivers are installed. However, it keeps saying the network cable is unplugged. I noticed that the green light on the CNET NIC came on when I inserted it in the PCI slot (without the PC on) and has not come off since. My onboard Gigabit LAN works fine but I need 2 LAN connections working, one for internet and one to network with another PC. I am relatively new at networking and have only networked my 2 PC's with a crossover cable and using Windows XP network setup wizard.

Can you list down all your pc spec's in full details including the PSU with the Watts and the Amp?? Have you tried to changed others pci slot but test on each one of it? On the way round tried to test your existing NIC cards into other PC? Check whether it can be auto detect by Windows or not? Check your cabling whether is it loosen or unplugged properly?

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

According to Apple (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1937) all UK carriers sell their iPhones locked, even though they also all offer unlocking.  So, as mentioned, contact your friend and ask them did they get it unlocked?  If not, which carrier did they get it from so you can contact that carrier and request an unlock.

  • K8n neo3 lan issue - not working

this spiffy new motherboard has been working very well for me, except for the lan - it doesn't do anything.
i upgraded to a k8n neo3 + sempron 2800+, from a k7 1700+.  i'm using the same case and power supply, and my watt-meter shows the new setup uses 20 watts less power, so i know it's not a psu issue.  i'm running w2k with sp4 slipstreamed in.
anyway, whether i use the msi-supplied network drivers or ones fresh from nvidia.com, i can't get an address supplied to me via dhcp from my router, and if i statically assign an address (10.0.0.3) the same way i did with the previous k7 setup, i can ping myself (10.0.0.3) but can't ping the router or modem (10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.1 respectively).
i've tried swapping cables (even though the setup worked fine with my old cpu/motherboard 2 days ago), forcing the network adapter into different speed modes (full auto, 100 full-duplex, 10 full-duplex), but i can't contact anything via this lan port.  when i do "ipconfig /renew" i can see flashing lights on the router indicating some traffic, however nothing happens on my win2k system.
i'm not sure what else i can do.  any ideas?  just to restate, the router/k7/win2k system worked perfectly 2 days ago.  i put the k8/neo3 system in, did a fresh win2k install, put on the 71.89 drivers for the geforce 6200, then proceeded directly to trying to get the network up and failing miserably.  no other software is installed, nothing else has been configured, and no system has ever put up this much of a fight before to stay off a network.
i'd really hate to have to go back to the k7 over this, the new box overclocks excellently from 1600 mhz stock to 2350 prime95-stable and the 6200 unlocks to a full 8-pipelines with 532/685 speeds - it's at least 5 times smoother at gaming than the k7 with a gf4mx, but without net access it's useless to me.  thanks for any ideas.

Before you jump to conclusions and make judgements, perhaps you might consider that there may be a configuration issue, perhaps just a faulty board. It doesn't mean they are all like that just because it doesn't work for you.
I don't mean to be rude, but I suggest you get all your facts before jumping to conclusions or making threats about posting negative remarks else where. You only serve to alienate those that may want to help.
What is the IP range settings in the DHCP of the router currently? (Try leaving at defaults, reset the router if you have to)
What, if any changes did you make in the TCP/IP settings of the onboard LAN adapter? (you shouldn't have to make any)
    Obtain an IP Address Automatically
    Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically
Make sure there are no gateway addresses, you can put that in later if you like.
And then what do you have selected: Control Panel>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings? (Should be nothing selected)
Also, Control Panel>Add Remove Programs>Add Remove Windows Components>Networking Services> Make sure all are unselected, primarily the Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client. Sorry, that's for XP
    Restart the computer if necessary.
Get to a command prompt, type "cmd" from the "Run..." on your Start menu
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    Good luck...

  • K8N Neo3 - Post successful - will not boot into WindowsXP - STOP error

For barely a nanosecond I see the WindowsXP boot page then the blue screen appears describing possible hard drive problems and the error code:
    STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78A2640, 0XC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
The hard drive, MAxtor 60GB was transferred from one computer to this computer and contains vital work files.
    System specs:
    K8N Neo3 (contains 1.PCIe16x and 1.AGP slot - multiple video capability)
    Athlon64 3200+
    Patriot PC3200 DDR 400 MHz (2 x 1024) 2GB

    VIDEO 2) FX 5600 128MB AGP
MAXTOR 60GB ATA (previously used on an AMD Athlon 1GB system)
Microsoft claims the error is caused from registry setting on the hard drive that utilizes another IDE controller setting (previous system) not compatible with chipset on new system.
    Two questions
    A. Has anyone encountered this before?
    B. Is the K8N Neo3 rated for dual channel ram?
    Thanks in advance.

i also have that mobo. about the agp clock you cannot adjust it because the agr only uses the pci. if you have the new pcb you need to get a modded bios of the 1.0 ver to get your fsb over 300. i got mine @ 341fsb.
very nice actually its mix between 1.0 & 1.4 version.
also you can pickup SATA RAID drivers which works for that BIOS version from attachment. MSI or Nvidia latest SATA RAID Drivers do not work with old BIOS version due different SATA ROM in BIOS revision.

  • Hmm I believe my K8N Neo3 board killed my VGA cards.

First off pc stats needed before anyone can help.
    -MSI K8N Neo3 MS-7135
    -Bios (AMI rev 1.0)
    -AMD Athlon 64 2800+
    -Infineon, DDR 400 1GB

    -Windows XP Pro SP2
Okay I bought a 6600GT PCIe and after a while the card displayed HORRIBLE graphical glitches so I got another and that did the same.  But in between cards I used my old ATI Radeon 9700 All-In-WonderPro in the AGR slot.  So I know for a fact all my other parts are functioning well its just either the cards are bad or maybe the motherboard's PCIe slot is somehow killing them.  If I RMA the board back how long would it take to get back to me and does anyone else think its the motherboards slot?

PSU's are the heart of the system. This is what provides the power to use all the components. Weak or failing powersupplies can manifest themselves in many different ways. Initially the PSU may be able to give enough power to run the system, but overtime if it is worked too hard the PSU will be unable to keep giving that power continuously. This could account for the benchmarks working fine for a while then the system slowly starts to have problems. With going back to your 9700 card between the RMA's it could allow the PSU to "charge" back up so it is able to give another run for awhile before it craps out again.
This still seems more like a power issue then anything else. It may be worth it just to try another PSU rather then replacing the motherboard. It would at least be an easier thing to do. A lot of local retailers most likely have a 30-day return policy and that would give you more than enough time to determine whether or not that was the problem.

Note: Also MSI core center would not work correctly when I got my motherboard.  It would lock up when it began to run and eat 99% resorces.
Unfortuantely Core-Center is not a very stable program. Most of us dump it and use another monitoring software such as speedfan. It is a much smaller program and is very simple to use. Plus it uses almost no system resources. My laptop has been up for over 3 days and speedfan is using 3MB of memory and 3MB in the pagefile. And it has only 2min of CPU time.
    Good Luck

  • Report: K8N Neo3-F Cool boot problem!!!!

    Hi all,
I've got Cool boot problem on my new K8N Neo3-F. The power is often turned off suddenly just after I turned on the power switch. All components are shutted down while the power led blink. It's unable to turn off completely by pushing power switch for awhile. I usualy have to disconect the power cord then clear cmos and cool boot again.
This problem seem to occur more oftenly when using SATA HDD. Should it be attituted to a bug bios?

Something along what you already have on +3.3v/+5v but 20A or more on +12v (single +12v PSU model) .
But when the time comes to replace PSU it's wise to get one that has enough power that will serve the next build or upgrade also .
Not leaving you again in the same situation you are now one more time down the line .
Note that HD's are notirious power eaters .They all may have nice numbers from the manufacturers for write/read consumption
but it's not many that specifies spinup consumption which always are altleast 2-3 times the amount of read/write power demands.
Tagan 2power/2force is nice and is applicable to both 20/24 pins systems and has the ability to run the +12v line as one combined or dual .
They also come in different sizes (max wattage) .
