Do >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed after the CPU swap.
Also try to boot with one memory stick only in 1st DIMM near to CPU socket.
Make sure that CPU is seated properly to the socket too.
allready tried all that still cant get it to do anything apart from that 4200+ thats the only cpu i have had it posting on

  • K9N2 Diamond X-FI Problems

    PC: Windows 7 32 bit, Phenom II x6 1090T, 4g corsair xms2, 9800gt, corsair psu tx650W
Can't change Mode, it stays always on Entertainment, can't change speaker configuration, it's on auto detect always. In XP everything worked fine. Recently tried with some realtek(!!!!) drivers, and can only switch between 5.1 and output for headphones. If I plug something to the extra jack (on the case, with the extra output cable from the x-fi card) my OS crashes for about 1 minute until it realizes what happens, then adds a extra 'headphone' button in my console cu launcher.
3D works on windows first run, but if i change it once (remove the tick) a restart is needed to work again.
I've seen other threads for those problems here and in creative labs forums and no one seems to care about those end-user problems.

Have you tried the drivers from the MSI website? --> http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9N2-Diamond.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2032
Yes, I have, every possible version.

  • K9N2 Diamond, Hybrid SLi problem

I have built a new system and am wanting to try out the Hybrid SLi functionality, but everything that I can think of doing to get it to work fails.
    Below is my setup
    K9N2 Diamond Mobo
    Ultra X3 1000W PSU
    9800 GTX+ VPU
    6 Gig DDR2 PC6400 RAM
    2 500GB Seagate SATA drives
    AMD X2 6000+ 3.1 Ghz Proc
    Vista Ultimate 64bit
The following is what has been done:
    1.  Installed 1 drive, CPU, 1 stick of RAM, DVD/RW, and PCI sound card
    2.  Made adjustments to BIOS for initial install
    3.  Installed Vista
    4.  Installed drivers for onboard hardware and soundcard
    5.  Shut down
    6.  Installed Video card, 2nd hard drive and remaining RAM
    7.  Turned PC back on and went into BIOS and turned on Hybrid SLI with internal as primary adapter
    8.  Installed 9800 GTX+ drivers and software
    9.  Installed Hybrid Sli driver
    10. Rebooted.
I still cannot get the Hybrid SLi program to start as it is not showing up in the system tray.  I looked at the properties and see that it shows both adapters installed, which it does.
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks!
    ~B~

Hybrid SLI, read the mainboard manual if need to apply properly BIOS options.
    Also read guides:

Make sure that you use latest drivers from Nivida as well.

  • K9N2 Diamond 1066 memory problems.....

As you can see from my sig, I have four sticks of the exact same matched memory which have passed memtest. Now I just recentley upgraded to a Phenom II X4 955 BE and bios 2.4 so that I could run this processor. Now when I set in the cell menu to run at 1066mhz and reboot with my ram settings inputed, my system will post and hang at the post screen. I turn my system off and power back on and the same thing happens. I have to clear the cmos and restart in the bios. Now, if I set the system to 800mhz ungaged no problem just when I try it with 1066 Before this I had a Phenom X4 9950 that ran 1066 no problem it has only been since I got this new processor and bios. I do not get it, any suggestions.........

    Memory controller is inside CPU.

CPU can't handle all of them at full speed, use 800MHz, there is no performance difference anyway.

  • K9N2 Diamond - PWM Temperature Problems

On my setup my pwm temperature reading, under no load, is around 100C. At load it pushes 125C. My cpu temperature readings stay under about 35C. GPU temperature readings stay under 50C.
Any advice on how I can reduce the pwm temperature?
Only advice I can find with google is add another fan?
    Thanks for any help.

Here is one link I found particularly insightful
    http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/244894-29-temperature
From the site - PWM means Pulse Width Modulation. This generally refers to the voltage regulation around the CPU, which most often includes the mosfets.
PWM on the Abit IP35-Pro can go up to 100C before danger, but I wouldn't recommend anything over 60-70C or so. On the IP35-Pro, this is the area covered by the rainbow shaped heatsink.

  • Boot with e-sata External HDD - K9N2 Diamond

    Hello.
Installed Windows Vista Home Premium in one hdd, but want to put it in an external case and boot it from there. Does the K9N2 Diamond support boot with an external e-sata disk ? I know that with usb does, but e-sata can't fin out.

    Quote
Windows will refuse to boot from it (Microsoft does not want you to have a removable HD
This is somewhat true for external USB Hard Drive.  However, it has nothing to do with Microsoft not wanting you to do anything.  If Windows is installed on a USB Hard Drive, the problem is that when you try to boot from it, Windows will put out a BSOD.  The reason is that during the early boot phase, Windows will fire up the USB Drivers.  When that happens, there is a change of parameters which will cause a short shut-down of USB Functionality.  Ultimately, Windows will not find the USB Drive it has just booted from and tell you that the whole drive or certain data cannot be found.  This can be overcome by modifying parts of the Installation Routine that handles the Installation of the USB Drivers during boot-up phase.
In any case, the problem is related to USB Drives only.  As eSATA-Ports are hosted directly by the SATA Controller, the operating system will basically just treat it as a normal hard drive (Windows would also not know the difference, when you install an eSATA Bracket connected to one or more of the internal SATA Ports.)
Also, AHCI it basically only needed for HotPlug Support.  As long as the hard drive stays connected to the system, it will be treated like a normal SATA Drive.
    Quote
Microsoft does not want you to have a removable HD that you can carry all over the place and boot from
BTW:  This will not work unless the different systems you want to use the installation with are the same or similar to the system configuration that Windows was installed on.  A different video card and a differen chipset may render the installation pretty much useless. Also, when you change between a system that has AHCI Enabled for the SATA Controller to a System running in SATA/IDE Mode ---> and then back to an AHCI System, there is a high chance that the installation will not properly adapt to the hardware change and mess itself up trying to adapt to the situation in terms of driver intialization.  You may run into to numerous BSODs.

  • K9N2 Diamond problems installing Vista 64bit Raid Drivers

Hello everyone I have been having problems installing Raid Drivers during Vista 64 Install.  The 32-bit drivers work fine and I can also set up Windows Vista 32 in Raid 0.  But the same place where the " No CD/DVD drivers..." clause is will not let me use 64-bit Drivers.  I have tried MCP72 and MCP73 raid drivers and neither is recognized.  This is my setup.....

  • K9N2 Diamond RAM & Boot Issues

Computer as of the current state it is being used:
    MSI K9N2 Diamond Tri-Sli AM2+ Motherboard
    AMD Athlon AM2 FX 4600+ 2.4GhZ (Asaka Bubblepump Heatsink+Fan)
    2GhZ PC26400 800mhz DDR2 Elixir RAM
    500GB WD SATAII HDD
EVGA Nvidia GTX 280 1GB RAM
    24x HP DVDRW
    Latest Bios Ami 2.1
That's the basics of the machine. I have been trying to use OCZ's SLI Ready RAM (1066), High Gold Performance RAM(800) and additional Elixir(800) DIMMS.
The problem I encounter is one dimm of any 1GB or 2GB stick will work. If I add additional RAM modules the system will hang. The second light is green the other 3 are red.
I have tried manual clock adjustments, voltage changes, swapping the Dimms in to various slots. I have tried mixed and unmixed combinations. Any ideas anyone?

    Ram being used is 2kits (4x1gb) of : http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_8500_sli_ready_edition_dual_channel
Memory module setups as follows; Y=Dimm in slot. N=Slot empty.
    Dimm 1  // Dimm 2 // Dimm 3 // Dimm 4
    Y /N / Y/ N - System runs with Single Channel 800Mhz 2GB Memory
    Y /Y /N/N - System fails to boot. R/G/R/R LEDs.
    N/N/ Y/Y - System fails to boot. R/G/R/R LEDs.
Y/Y Y/N - System boots, recognises 3GB of RAM. Vista loading screen fails. System does not run.
    N/N Y/Y - System fails to boot. R/G/R/R LEDs.
    Y/Y Y/Y - System fails to boot. R/G/R/R LEDs.
I'm sure by now you see a pattern in using this? I've used another 2GB kit of OCZ Gold RAM and the same combination runs. The elixir kit runs exactly the same as the 4GB SLI combination.
SLI Ready also causes the system not to boot in any combination on the SLI Ready EPP RAM.
When the system boots with 2GB Ram, the beeps as follows are ... two beeps evenly spaced apart. Short while, Two beeps, shortly after a string of around 3 close beeps together.
Anyone else experienced this or can help?
    "Ram being used is 2kits (4x1gb) of : http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/memory/ocz_ddr2_pc2_8500_sli_ready_edition_dual_channel"
    Why you list Elexir in a 1st reply then? {2GhZ PC26400 800mhz DDR2 Elixir RAM}
"When the system boots with 2GB Ram, the beeps as follows are ... two beeps evenly spaced apart. Short while, Two beeps, shortly after a string of around 3 close beeps together."
That probably regular beeps when you have USB device attached.
Test each two kits alone 1st, use 1st two DIMM's close to the CPU socket, with >>Memtest86<<
Also bump memory vcore to OCZ recommendation 2.1V
If you trying to use all four sticks together{2xkits}, reduce memory frequency{apply lower memory index in BIOS{667} and use 2T.

  • K9N2 Diamond Problems

I was going to buy this board (MSI K9N2 Diamond) but it seems there are way too many issue's with it.  Sound Drivers, 9950be compatibility using shipped bios, SLi, different video cards etc and other compatibility issue's. Problems going back to release and there is only one bios update! People using having to use Beta Bios?  :huh:Have all these problems been fixed by MSI? Or will I have the same issue's if I buy the K9N2 Diamond now with a 9950be, Corsair Twinx 2x4096-8500c5df?  I have had MSI's in the past wilt np but it sounds horrible if you buy this board. I don't care about SLi. Just want this board for all the other reason. Mainly can I use it with an Nvidia main card in 1st PCI-e x16, and an ATI AIW in the 2nd or 3rd PCI-e x16. Hope someone can help me. Has anyone bought this board and installed with this setup with no problems...... Out of box and no problems??? Everything working correctly? I'm scared to buy it!

    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodcpu2&prod_no=1438&maincat_no=1#menu
    The 9950 is supported.
Other then that, I don't see that many issues here in the forum with that board.
But if you are that worried, why not go with an MSI ATI chipset board?

  • K9N2 Diamond & Gigabyte 8800 GT SLI (Mb Problem!!)

Hi. I recently had a K9N Diamond with 2 Gigabyte 8800 GT (GV-NX88T512HP TypeB) in SLi, worked perfectly. One fo them fried and sent it to rma. In this time, changed motherboard (to K9N2 Diamond) and PSU (NOX Urano 600w to Corsair TX750). Worked all ok, but with only one Gigabyte VGA. Gigabyte rma gave me an identical card, but Type A. Tried SLI with the other one and it didn't worked. Both cards in solo work fine. Together, the monitor power led flashes but no image, I even hear the music of windows starting, but no image. Tried it with another motherboard and it worked. The board was a MSI K8N SLI Platinum. Not a vga problem. I read the manual, and it says that i need to connect the two 3way SLI connectors for a dual sli config. Rather confusing. It also refers to "SLI Drivers" ?. Never heard of it. Please help!!

No. But i achieved sli yesterday. I disabled the onboard graphics card (this board has Hybrid SLI) on the driver settings. The sli is running but only when windows starts. I can't see post, so i can't enter bios.

  • MSI K8N Diamond - Boot problems with USB devices attached.

    Hi There.
I have been seeking the forums, but havent found the answer to my problem yet.
This is how it goes with ANY USB devices attached to either of the four USB ports on the Motherboard.
When i turn on my system, it hangs in the POST right after displaying the BIOS version (Which I have updated to 1.6) - I cant use my Keyboard to get to the BIOS setup.
    Without USB devices attached...
The system boots without problems. And in Windows XP SP2 i can insert my keyboard, mouse etc. and everything works great - both USB 1.1 & 2.0 devices.
I have disabled the KB/USB.. in BIOS and I have disabled the "Boot on other device" option as well.
As I have found on this forum, a lot of people have problems with USB Front panel and D-Bracket (USB ports) connectors causing the system to hang - But my D-Bracket (USB connectors) and my front USB port is at this time DISCONNECTED - so this cannot be the problem.
The D-Bracket shows the "Bios Sign On" information - and stops at that point
Am I having a malfunctioning Motherboard here, or are there any solutions to this problem?
Please help me as I am desperate to have my system work properly.
    Regards
    Stieper

Well I have read about that somewhere in here, but my problem is NOT with an USB hub, but with any USB device attached to the motherboard's USB slots. It is driving me nuts to be honest!! I think it might be time for RMA
What do you say guys - is my Motherboard ready for RMA, or do I have to try something specific berfore sending it to the retailer??

    Can somewon help me...??

    Hi Tomween,
Based on the information posted, the Creative X-Fi Xtreme H/W Audio Card MSI Edition is an OEM product. These OEM sound cards are often customized for the motherboard manufacturer who ships or installs them, therefore the manufacturer in this case, MSI should be the primary contact for support and warranty issues.

  • K9N2 Diamond refuses to P.O.S.T...

    Greetings,
I'm in a bit of a predicament and was wondering if anybody has some ideas as to the solution to the problem I am about to present.
Let me start with a little background:
I built this system around 2 years ago and haven't had many problems with it. I've reformatted numerous times, the most recent being last month. About a week or two ago
I tried to play a .wmv file via Windows Media Player. My system hung during program execution and I was forced to manually power off my computer (in other words, I held
the power button for five seconds). When I powered the system back on it failed to P.O.S.T.
Now, during a normal start-up a number of things happen:
A.) The computer powers on, fans start whurring, lights from the K9N2's on-board LED's will flash between green and red (this is important), and finally power is fed to my I/O devices.
B.) The mainboard then beeps (I cannot remember the beep pattern), all the on-board LED's are green, my display shows my BIO's screen, and the system then continues it operations before loading the Operating System.
C.) Windows is then loaded and I have an operational computer. Hurray.
Here is what happens as of now:
A.) The computer powers on, fans star whurring, lights from the K9N2'S on-board LED's will flash for what appears to be two cycles (basically the LED's go through two patterns) and then I hear a long beep followed by two short beeps. (Beeeeeeepp.... Beep. Beep.) The LED pattern stays as follows: RED, RED, RED, GREEN.
No power is fed to my I/O devices and I receive no display. The computer basically hangs. One thing I feel I should mention is that I was able to get the computer to start again by clearing the CMOS but this strategy will not work anymore. Note: this process involved restarting the computer countless times, clearing the CMOS, starting the computer and seeing if it would P.O.S.T, if it did not, I repeated the process. It was not as if I simply cleared the CMOS and the computer worked instantly. I had to do it several times.
Now it seems no matter what I do the system refuses to P.O.S.T. My computer specs are listed at the bottom of this thread. If you felt something was not clear or you feel you need more information, please let me know and I will be glad to explain. I look forward to working with anyone who is willing to help me tackle this problem.
    Take care,
    pr3ddd
    COMPUTER SPECS:

-ABS TAGAN BZ SERIES 900W PSU
    -AMD ATHLON 64 X2 6400+ @3.2GHZ PROCESSOR

-SEAGATE BARRACUDA 500GB 7200RPM SATA HDD
-CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI ELITE PRO SOUND CARD
    -MICROSOFT'S WINDOWS X64 PROFESSIONAL

So.... Problem solved. Looks like it was the graphics card. When I got the almost normal boot I realized that the only reason I had: GREEN, RED, GREEN, GREEN LED's was because the system was waiting for me to load the default values for the CMOS but since I didn't have any display I couldn't see that. So I replaced my HDMI cable with a VGA cable and the system reverted to the previous RED, RED, RED, GREEN state. At that point, I took out the graphics card, used the onboard video and wa-la. Thank you Mike. I'd have never thought to reseat the graphics card. Looks like no games for a while... Oh well.

  • K9N2 Diamond - Can't Disable Onboard Graphics

    Hello all,
I have a peculiar problem (or maybe it isn't problem at all):
If I select to disable the onboard graphic chip in BIOS, the system halts (complete freeze) after memory check, only way out is to force shutdown and BIOS reset.
On board, there are four little status leds, when the onboard graphics is disabled, they are (looking from the "back" of board) from left to right: green-red-green-red. I haven't been able to find out what the sequence means, looks to me like MSI has never published the codes.
The freeze happens whether I have quickboot enabled or not.
    My system specs are:
    MSI K9N2 Diamond
    AMD Phenom 9850 BE
XFX GeForce 8800 GT Alpha Dog 512MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
    8 GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 XMS2 DHX
    2x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB S300 RAID 1
CoolerMaster 700W REAL POWER PRO MODULAR PSU
    Lian-Li SILVER CLASSICAL SERIES
    Philips Brilliance 200W 20.1"
BIOS version is 2.0 (not flashed).
The XFX card works perfectly and when both cards are active, I have no issues with system at all (all works perfectly). Also RAM has passed Memtest++ several times and is correctly detected and configured by BIOS (800MHz).
All BIOS settings affecting performance are in their defaults (no overclocking, no voltage tweaking etc).
The problem is that I can't set these two cards to SLi nor MultiGPU because they are not identical (please correct me if I'm wrong in that).
The problem is that both cards now want to run separate monitor (I only got one I can use permanently) meaning that I either won't see boot messages or I won't see desktop depending on which card I have the monitor connected on.
So, in brief, here's my questions are:
Do you know why disabling the onboard chip freezes POST?
Do you know a solution to this problem?
If you answer "yes" to either or both above, please tell me too what is the reason and what is the solution

Hi and thanks for the reply.
Just to be sure what you mean:
Quote from: Fredrik on 02-November-08, 20:54:10
You should be able to disable onboard while monitor cable is connected to the 8800, should even be automatically disabled.
You mean having monitor connected to both cards and then disable the onboard chip?
Quote from: Fredrik on 02-November-08, 20:54:10
Could have to do with the Hybrid SLI feature  . Disable if you don't want it.
That's disabled currently (you can't disable onboard chip if it's enabled).
Quote from: Fredrik on 02-November-08, 20:54:10
As BIOS seems to be involved, what BIOS version do you have?
    Original 2.0 (shipped with board).
